A middle school student’s article has touched millions, reminding (使想起) us all that true warmth comes from the heart. Zhang Xiaoran, a 15-year-old girl from Hangzhou, wrote about her trip to her hometown Ulanqab in Inner Mongolia.
In her article, she described traveling on a slow green train with her grandparents. The 25-hour ride was filled with warm memories: the sound of wheels on rails, dialects (方言) of passengers, and her grandparents’ care. She wrote about a kind grandfather who bought snacks just because the seller said, “Kids love these.” This reminded her of her late grandfather.
After reading her article, Inner Mongolia’s tourism department sent her a special gift—free to all local attractions. They also posted traditional foods like dried milk slices (奶片). Ulanqab’s officials invited her classmates to visit, calling it “the most romantic interaction (相互影响) between the north and south”.
The article made “Ulanqab” a trending search online. Many netizens (网民) shared their own stories, a grandmother’s handmade sweaters, a father’s evening walks with them as kids and so on, saying Zhang’s writing made them reconnect with their childhood.
This story teaches us that simple words can warm hearts. As Zhang’s teacher said, “True feelings always shine brighter than AI-written words.” We should value family and hometowns. After all, kindness and love are the most powerful forces in our lives. Let’s take action to express our love to those around us.
51. What did Zhang Xiaoran describe in her article?
A. Her life in Hangzhou. B. A train trip with her grandparents.
C. Her favorite snacks from Ulanqab. D. An AI-written article competition.
52. What special gift did Inner Mongolia’s tourism department send to Zhang?
A. A free green train ticket.
B. A book about the north-south interaction.
C. An invitation to visit Ulanqab with her classmates.
D. Traditional foods and a visit to local attractions for free.
53. The underlined phrase “trending search” in Paragraph 4 probably means “________”.
A. popular topic online B. serious problem C. new invention D. difficult question
54. What does Zhang’s teacher’s words mean?
A. AI-written words are more creative. B. True feelings in writing are more touching.
C. Students should learn from AI writing. D. Simple words are hard to understand.
55. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To introduce Zhang Xiaoran’s hometown Ulanqab.
B. To explain how to write a moving article.
C. To show the power of kindness, love, and true feelings.
D. To encourage students to visit Inner Mongolia.
C
What do three hearts, eight arms, and one huge brain add up to? An octopus—a sea animal that can do amazing things.
Octopuses are very smart. They can learn new things just like humans. They’ve even learned a few skills to get themselves out of dangerous situations. Octopuses don’t have teeth or sharp claws (爪) to protect themselves. Instead, they use more clever ways to fool their enemies. Octopuses like to hide themselves in the sand on the bottom of the ocean floor. Octopuses are like chameleons (变色龙) because they can change the color of their skin to match the sand. And this color change happens in less than a minute.
Some octopuses like to stay near rocks in shallow (阴影) water. They can make themselves fit into small spaces between the rocks to get out of reach of their enemies. Another way an octopus can hide is by shooting ink. The ink forms a cloud that hides the octopus. By the time the ink clears, the octopus has swum away or hidden.
If an octopus is in danger, it can make itself look like a sea snake. It will hide itself in the sand, leaving two arms outside. It will change the color of those arms to match a sea snake. But what if there’s no time to hide? It can break off one of its arms. The arm will then change colors and keep moving around in the water to take the enemy’s attention away while the octopus swims away to safety. Don’t worry, though. The arm will grow back.
A kind of octopus is called the blue-ringed octopus. It is tiny. But the enemies often stay away because it is very poisonous (有毒的) and can kill animals much larger than itself, including humans.
So next time you see an octopus in the aquarium (水族馆), remember that inside that oversized head is a very large brain, making it a clever addition to the sea.
56. Why are octopuses like chameleons?
A. They have three hearts. B. They have eight arms.
C They can make themselves look like snakes. D. They can change the color of their skin.
57. The octopus breaks off one of its arms to ________.
A. fit into small spaces B. swim much faster C. get time to run away D. shoot more ink
58. What can we learn from Paragraph 4?
A. The octopus has sharp teeth to catch food.
B. The octopus uses its arms to kill the enemy.
C. The octopus changes color to fool the sea snake.
D. The octopus can make itself look like another animal.
59. How many ways octopuses use to get out of danger are mentioned in the text?
A. 3 B. 4 C. 5 D. 6
60. What is the best title for this text?
A. Adventures in Water B. Magician of the Sea
C. Soft Bodies Between Rocks D. Enemy Behind the Cloud
D
Every year, millions of visitors come to climb Mount Tai and leave tons of rubbish behind. The mountain is so high and dangerous. Keeping the mountain clean has depended on porters (挑夫) because big machines couldn’t be used there. They are responsible to carry the rubbish down the mountain on foot.
Recently, a group of thin legged robotic dogs are working as rubbish carriers on the narrow paths of Mount Tai. “Please don’t litter! I work very hard every day and I don’t want to be too tired,” says one robot dog in a short video. The video has won millions of likes online by now.
Since July, the Taishan Cultural Tourism Group’s company has worked with a number of factories, finally choosing Hangzhou-based Unitree Robotics to do rubbish transport tests together in the Mount Tai area. “By learning from the experience of other areas, we believe one of the most useful ways is the robot dog transport,” a worker from the company said.
Jin Da, marketing manager at Unitree Robotics, said that the robot dog, has excellent ability to keep balance (平衡) even on wet or difficult ground, and shows great balance while climbing the mountain. It also has great abilities to cross obstacles (障碍), easily getting over obstacles as high as 40 centimeters. What’s more, the robot dog can keep working for four to six hours and it can carry a weight of up to 120 kilograms, he said.
After three days of testing, the robot dog was able to get used to over 80 percent of the road conditions in the scenic area (景区). The successful climb of the robot dog shows its usefulness under hard conditions, providing valuable experience and data (数据) support for future uses in different areas. “We are still in the testing stage, and we will further improve the design to start the next round of testing as soon as possible,” Jin said.
61. What does the underlined word “They” in Paragraph 1 refer to?
A. The porters. B. The visitors. C. Big machines. D. Robotic dogs.
62. How does the Taishan Cultural Tourism Group’s worker feel about the robot dog transport?
A. Unsure. B. Hopeful. C. Nervous. D. Surprised.
63. What is introduced in Paragraph 3 about the robot dog?
A. The ability of the robot dog. B. The working way of the robot dog.
C. The working time of the robot dog. D. The challenges faced by the robot dog.
64. How does the writer develop his idea in the last paragraph?
A By giving examples. B. By making a survey.
C. By explaining results. D. By introducing backgrounds.
65. Do you think robotic dogs are helpful? Why or why not? (20词以内)

I Find Myself Really Good
Our school did a survey among the students of Grade 9 on the topic of “I Find Myself Really Good”. Here are the results. It shows three positive qualities: being positive, seeing the world with kind eyes, and not complaining. Among them, “seeing the world with kind eyes” has the highest percentage, reaching nearly 50%, while “being positive” accounts for about 30% and “not complaining” is around 25%. Maybe it reflects that most of us are willing to view things from a kind-hearted perspective.
I’d like to talk about “being positive”. Once, during the preparation for an important math exam, I was faced with a lot of difficult geometry and algebra problems. I felt really stressed and almost wanted to give up. But then I reminded myself to be positive. Instead of focusing on the difficulties, I started to break down the problems into smaller parts and tackled them one by one. Whenever I solved a small part, I would encourage myself. This positive attitude not only helped me get through that tough period but also improved my exam results. It made me realize that a positive mindset can turn challenges into opportunities for growth.
In my opinion, these good qualities are like bright lights in our life journey. No matter which one we choose to embrace, it can guide us to face difficulties bravely and become better versions of ourselves. As the exam approaches, let’s all find our own good qualities and use them to shine brightly.
