China issued a document on deepening the reform and development of elderly care services. To support the growth of this sector, many young people are choosing to pursue careers in elderly care. Wang Hanlin, a “post-90s” professional, is one of them.
After graduating from the Central Conservatory of Music in 2014, he decided to enter the elderly care sector. During his second year at university, Wang Hanlin was introduced to music therapy for the elderly in a clinical practice course. The moment he entered the elderly care community, he felt as though he had found his true calling: “I’m not sure why, this feeling was something I never experienced when working with other groups”. After that first clinical session, Wang Hanlin continued to explore the field and ultimately decided to dedicate himself to music therapy focused on the health and well-being of the elderly.
Here, his role extends beyond therapy. Music therapists are not only “therapists” but also “social workers”. He is responsible for organizing bands, drills, and musical activities to foster engagement.
When the lights are dimmed and sunlight pours in, Wang leads weekly relaxation classes to improve sleep health, which makes many elderly residents enter a deeply relaxed state, with some even falling asleep. Wang Hanlin also conducts one impactful intervention, which involves songwriting for dementia (痴呆) patients. When he learned that some residents were experiencing pain, he encouraged them to write their feelings of discomfort into a song, helping them release their emotions and channel their feelings into songwriting. For many seniors, his companionship and care hold a profound emotional value.
Wang Hanlin said that choosing music therapy as a career requires a genuine desire. Without a true passion, one may not be suited for the field, and would miss out on the joy it brings: “Accompanying the elderly through their later years and forming deep connections with them provides invaluable energy, knowledge, and guidance — wealth that cannot be measured in monetary terms.”
4. What inspired Wang Hanlin to work in elderly care?
A. His support for the government policy in elderly care.
B. A clinical practice experience during his university years.
C. The high demand for medical professionals in elderly care.
D. A government document for promoting the elderly care industry.
5. What does Wang Hanlin do to intervene with dementia patients?
A. He organizes band drills for their interaction.
B. He keeps the patients company to take good care of them.
C. He holds weekly relaxation classes to improve their sleep.
D. He encourages songwriting for their emotional expression.
6. What does Wang Hanlin emphasize in pursuing a career in music therapy?
A. Abundant energy. B. Sincere enthusiasm.
C. Selfless dedication. D. Professional guidance.
7. Which of the following words best describe Wang Hanlin?
A. Caring and creative. B. Organized and demanding.
C. Patient and reserved. D. Ambitious and competitive.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the nature of work. To succeed in this AI-driven era, adopting a skills-first mindset has become essential for both employees and employers.
For workers, this approach requires redefining your jobs as a collection of tasks rather than fixed titles. As AI advances, these tasks will change. Categorizing them into those AI can take over, enhance, or require human skills helps employees identify which skills to develop to stay competitive. Studies show that 25% of job skills have changed since 2015, and this figure is expected to reach 65% by 2030. Apart from AI literacy, human skills like problem-solving, strategic thinking, and time management are gaining importance. Notably, 92% of U.S. bosses emphasize that human skills are more critical than ever.
The rise of AI has made it even more important for employers to prioritize a skill-focused approach to hiring and talent development. The number of people with AI skills is nine times larger than it was in 2016. And there is a hunger to put these newly developed skills into practice: LinkedIn job posts mentioning AI have seen 17% higher application growth. With such a trend, leaders focusing on skills rather than degrees will unlock potential. Employers will increasingly become educators, training employees through onboarding (入职培训), practical projects, and academies.
The year 2024 marks a turning point in human-AI cooperation. Core human skills — including active listening, empathy, and teamwork — are becoming central to career success, while interpersonal cooperation drives company success. Thus, AI should be seen as a tool enabling people to work more effectively and focus on valuable aspects of their jobs. For example, AI can automate routine tasks such as drafting job postings, enabling recruiters (招聘人员) to focus on strategic activities like building relationships with candidates. Similarly, software engineers use AI for repetitive coding, freeing time for creative innovation.
The future of work will emphasize adaptability. Employees must continuously update their skills, while employers act as educators, preparing workers for evolving roles. By fostering a culture of lifelong learning and prioritizing human-AI partnerships, we can create a more fulfilling and human-centered work environment.
8 What is emphasized for employees in the AI era?
A. Career-first reputation. B. Categorized career tasks.
C. Task-based people skills. D. Advanced academic degrees.
9. What is paragraph 3 mainly about?
A. Challenges in AI talent acquisition.
B. Employers’ shift to skill-focused mindset.
C. Rising demand for AI technical skills.
D. LinkedIn’s influence on AI-centered hiring.
10. What can we infer from paragraph 4?
A. AI concentrates more on the value of a job.
B. Interpersonal cooperation is key to career success.
C. Software developers stress coding more than innovation.
D. AI equips recruiters to connect with applicants more attentively.
11 What is the author’s attitude towards applying AI to the working field?
A. Favorable. B. Neutral. C. Indifferent. D. Dismissive.

From an airplane, cars crawling along a highway look like ants. Unlike cars, however, real ants avoid the problem of stop-and-go traffic. Researchers are now studying these insects’strategies to design self-driving cars that won’t cause traffic jams.
Traffic flow becomes unstable as the number of cars on a highway increases. Studies show that when there are 15 vehicles per mile per lane, even a single driver tapping the brakes can trigger a wave of traffic jam. “It’s like a phase transition,” says Katsuhiro Nishinari, a mathematical physicist at the University of Tokyo. His research found that ants can maintain smooth flow even at high densities. In a recent study, researchers analyzed the movement of ants using traffic engineering models. They discovered that ants avoid jams by traveling in small groups, keeping steady speeds, and maintaining good distances between each other. Most importantly, they never speed up to pass others.
Human drivers, especially during rush hour, rarely follow such rules. “We’re maximizing the interests of individuals, which is why traffic jams happen,” says Nicola Pugno, a researcher at the University of Trento. But if self-driving cars become common, they could be programmed to work more cooperatively. For example, autonomous vehicles might share information with nearby cars to improve traffic flow by keeping constant speeds and distances or avoiding passing other vehicles.
“This vehicle network would resemble how ants coordinate their behavior. Ants use scents to communicate while moving, and there is no leader in their system. Yet this kind of distributed organization can be very strong and resilient,” says Noa Pinter-Wollman, a behavioral scientist at UCLA. Additionally, ants can do things that even self-driving cars cannot. Ants can create paths as wide as needed and crawl on ceilings when stuck in tunnels. Unlike cars, ants never crash—they can simply walk over each other.
There is at least one thing human drivers can learn from ants: Don’t tailgate. By leaving enough space between your car and the one in front, you can absorb waves of braking in heavy traffic, which helps prevent “phantom” traffic jams.
12. What did the recent study find about ants?
A. The increasing number of ants causes traffic jam.
B. Ants concentrate on the most interests of individuals.
C. Ants adopt efficient methods to maintain smooth traffic.
D. Ants employ visual signals to communicate with others.
13. How can autonomous vehicles avoid traffic jam?
A. By keeping clear of other cars with flexible routes.
B. By sending warning signals with engineering models.
C. By creating more lanes dynamically just as ants behave.
D. By interacting with nearby cars to ensure proper behavior.
14. What does the underlined word “resilient” in paragraph 4 mean?
A. Convenient. B. Complicated. C. Temporary. D. Adaptable.
15. Which would be the best title for the text?
A. Bio-inspired solutions for traffic jams
B. Biological performances of moving ants
C. Technical challenges for self-driving cars
D. Traffic engineering models for traffic flow

It was a sunny morning when I, along with my classmates, started on a long-awaited hiking trip. As an introvert (内向的人) who always preferred the comfort of my room filled with books, this outdoor adventure was a huge step out of my comfort zone. But I was determined to prove to myself that I could overcome my shyness and embrace new challenges.
We started our journey on a well-marked trail that wound through a dense forest. As we walked, my classmates chatted lively, their laughter echoing through the trees. I, on the other hand, walked a bit behind, too nervous to join in their conversations.
After a few hours, we reached a fork in the trail. The guide informed us that the left path was easier but longer, while the right one was more challenging but shorter. Most of my classmates chose the easier route, but something inside me urged me to take the more difficult path. I raised my hand and said, “I want to go on the right path.” Surprised glances were cast my way, but I stood firm in my decision.
As I began the ascent on the right path, I quickly realized how tough it was. The path was steep, with loose rocks and overgrown bushes. I slipped a few times, my heart pounding with fear and frustration. “What was I thinking?” I scolded myself. “I should have just gone with the others.” But then I remembered my goal of pushing myself, and I gritted my teeth and continued.
After what felt like an age, I came across a small plain. Exhausted, I sat down on a rock. Just then, I heard a faint cry for help. Looking around, I spotted a little girl stuck in a shallow ditch (沟渠). She was clearly scared, her eyes wide with panic.

Without the slightest hesitation, I rushed over to her.

8. What is emphasized for employees in the AI era?

A By keeping clear of other cars with flexible routes.
B. By sending warning signals with engineering models.
C. By creating more lanes dynamically just as ants behave.
D. By interacting with nearby cars to ensure proper behavior.
14. What does the underlined word “resilient” in paragraph 4 mean?
A. Convenient. B. Complicated. C. Temporary. D. Adaptable.
15. Which would be the best title for the text?
A. Bio-inspired solutions for traffic jams
B. Biological performances of moving ants
C. Technical challenges for self-driving cars
D. Traffic engineering models for traffic flow
C 13. D 14. D 15. A

根据第二段“His research found that ants can maintain smooth flow even at high densities. In a recent study, researchers analyzed the movement of ants using traffic engineering models. They discovered that ants avoid jams by traveling in small groups, keeping steady speeds, and maintaining good distances between each other. Most importantly, they never speed up to pass others. (他的研究发现,即使在高密度的情况下,蚂蚁也能保持顺畅的流动。在最近的一项研究中,研究人员使用交通工程模型分析了蚂蚁的移动。他们发现,蚂蚁通过小群体出行、保持稳定的速度以及彼此之间保持良好的距离来避免拥堵。最重要的是,它们从不加速超过其他蚂蚁)”可知,蚂蚁采用了有效的方法来保持交通顺畅。故选C项。

【14题详解】
词义猜测题。根据第四段“Ants use scents to communicate while moving, and there is no leader in their system. Yet this kind of distributed organization can be very strong (蚂蚁在移动时使用气味进行交流,它们的系统中没有领导者。然而,这种分布式组织可以非常强大)”以及“Additionally, ants can do things that even self-driving cars cannot. Ants can create paths as wide as needed and crawl on ceilings when stuck in tunnels. Unlike cars, ants never crash—they can simply walk over each other.
根据第一段“Researchers are now studying these insects’ strategies to design self-driving cars that won’t cause traffic jams. (研究人员现在正在研究这些昆虫的策略,以设计不会造成交通堵塞的自动驾驶汽车)”以及全文可知,文章主要讲述了受蚂蚁行为的启发,研究人员试图找到解决交通拥堵的办法,所以A选项“受生物启发的交通拥堵解决方案”适合作为文章标题。故选A项。

故填a。
故填which。
故填for。
故填have committed/have been committing。
故填were exposed。
trend为可数名词,空前无限定词,结合上文“to different fashion cultures through TV and the Internet”可知,此处使用名词复数形式表示泛指。
此处为固定搭配resolve to do sth.,意为“决心做某事”,所以此处用动词不定式to preserve作宾语。故填to preserve。

1. 续写词数应为150个左右;

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Without the slightest hesitation, I rushed over to her. “It’s okay,” I reassured to her, trying to sound more confident than I felt, my heart bounding wildly in my chest. I carefully climbed into the ditch and reached out my hand. The girl gripped it tightly, her tiny fingers digging into my skin. As I pulled her up, I could feel the strain in my muscles. Once we were both out of the ditch, the girl threw her arms around me, sobbing with relief. “Thank you,” she whispered. At that moment, a warm tide of pride welled up in me.
Watching the girl run off lively, I realized this hike was more than a physical challenge. It was a journey of self-discovery. I had not only overcome my fear of the difficult trail but also stepped out of my shell of shyness. Helping that little girl made me understand the joy of reaching out to others. I took a deep breath, filling my lungs with the forest air, and continued my hike with a newfound sense of purpose. Every step forward was a reminder that I was capable of more than I had ever imagined, and that embracing challenges was the key to personal growth.
