Most of us have formed an unreal picture of life on a desert island. We sometimes imagine it to be a kind of heaven where the sun always shines, life is simple, and nature gives us everything. The other side of the picture is quite the opposite — you either starve to death or live like Robinson Crusoe, waiting for a boat which never comes. Maybe both ideas are partly true. Still, few of us have had the chance to know what desert island life is really like.
Three men had such a chance not long ago. Their names were Jack, Tom. and Robin. They were moving a badly broken boat from the Virgin Islands to Miami for fixing. Halfway, the boat started to go down. In fear, Jack took a small rubber boat while Tom quickly picked up what they could — some food, matches, and cans of beer. Robin, the calmest of the three, helped tie everything together and gave each man some water before they set off. With sore muscles and nervous hearts, they rowed for hours before at last reaching a small coral island.
But the island was far from heaven. There were almost no trees and no clean water. The empty land and hard truth quickly broke their dream. The three men sat in silence, looking at the sea. Robin tried to stay hopeful and said, “we are lucky to be alive.” Jack and Tom nodded, but worry was in their eyes.
Facing an unknown future, they knew they had to use the few things they brought and anything they could find on the island. With no way to talk to others and no idea when — or if — they would be saved, they got ready to face what was ahead. Robin said, “We must take turns watching the sea, keeping the fire on. and looking for help.” He looked at his friends and added, “No one is coming today, but maybe someone will come tomorrow.”

One day, a good friend gave me a gift. It was a book filled with interesting and uplifting stories. I remember I began reading it that very night. And I would read a story or two before going to bed each night.
One evening I read a story about hugging called “It Can’t Happen Here?” The opening quotation by Virginia Satir said we need four hugs a day for survival, eight for maintenance (保持) and twelve hugs a day to grow.
I read this story on a Tuesday. I knew it was Tuesday because on Wednesday I walked into my classroom and declared that every Wednesday would be known as “Hugging Day.”I told my students everyone needs hugs to live and grow.
I was already a hugger and had always greeted my students with a warm hug each morning. But after reading the story in this new book, I decided that on Hugging Day everyone needed to make sure they got at least twelve hugs. I wanted my students to grow. All hugs didn’t have to come from me, but I was ready, willing, and able to give as many as needed.
My students lined up at my desk with questions and left with a hug. They hugged me before and after lunch. They hugged me when they came to school in the morning and when they left for home in the afternoon. And perhaps best of all, the children in my classroom hugged each other.
Every Wednesday, my students counted their hugs to make sure they were getting their fair share. I continued the practice for several years. Through the years, I hugged all kinds of kids — those who were untidy and those who were clean, children who were gifted academically and others whose gifts lay elsewhere. Among them, Nicole, one of my students, stood out for her enthusiasm about Hugging Day. She was a shy girl who rarely spoke up in class, but on Hugging Day, she would always be the first to line up to hug me. I could see how much a hug meant to her.

Uncle Richard’s New Year Dinner
Prissy Baker was buying matches in Mr. Miller’s store when her uncle, Richard Baker, came in. He did not look at Prissy, nor did she wish him a happy New Year. Uncle Richard had not been on speaking terms with her or her father, his only brother, for eight years.
He was a big prosperous-looking man, an uncle to be proud of, Prissy thought. If only he were like other people’s uncles, or like what he used to be himself. He was Prissy’s only uncle, and when she had been a little girl they had been great friends, but that was before the quarrel over the division of a property with Prissy’s father.
Uncle Richard informed Mr. Miller that he was on his way to Navarre with a load of pork. “I have to deliver the pork at once or I have to do business on New Year,” said Uncle Richard. “Shouldn’t New Year be pretty much the same as any other day to you,” joked Miller, knowing Richard was a bachelor living alone. “Well, I always like a good dinner on New Year,” said Uncle Richard. “It’s the only way I can celebrate. I got everything ready in the kitchen last night, but I won’t get back before one o’clock. Maybe I’ll have to put up with a cold bite.”
After Uncle Richard drove away, Prissy headed home, thoughtfully. She didn’t mean to cook dinner, for her parents had to go to the town that morning. There was nobody else to cook for. Prissy could not help thinking about Uncle Richard. He would certainly have cold New Year cheer, enough to chill the whole coming year. She felt sorry for him, picturing him returning from Navarre, cold and hungry, only a fireless house and an uncooked dinner waiting for him. Suddenly an idea popped into Prissy’s head. Dared she?

Aria was a little artist. With her mother’s birthday nearing, Aria knew what to do! She would design a lovely gift for her mother!
Aria remembered her visit to the museum and the amazing sculpture she’d seen there. It was made of many different materials — cloth, feathers, glitter (发光物), paper, and paint. Aria loved the mix of materials. Aria went to her desk and started creating her masterpiece. First, she painted the paper. A bit of red. “Now, I’ll add some green and yellow,” she thought as she worked away.
The background of Mom’s gift looked fantastic. Aria used all the colors of a rainbow to create a lovely painting. Then, she wanted to decorate it with some feathers. She carefully removed the feathers, one by one, from the old hat and started gluing them on. Once she finished with the glue, she needed to wait for it to dry.
Aria played with her little dog out in the garden for quite a long time and then went back to her desk to see whether the glue was dry. “No! No! No!” Aria started screaming when she saw her art or what was left of it.
While Aria was playing outside with her dog, her little brother entered her room and saw the art. The little boy couldn’t resist it. He pulled some feathers and scribbled (i El) all over her art with crayons.
“What have you done? You destroyed Mom’s gift! How could you?” Aria screamed.
But then, Aria looked at her brother. The little boy almost started crying, hearing Aria’s angry voice.
“Sorry, Aria,” he said. “I just wanted to make a gift for Mom too. Please, don’t be mad at.me.”
Aria’s anger disappeared immediately. She felt so bad for what she’d said to her brother. He just wanted to help her with the gift. He was still so little.

“Are you OK?” asked Daddy. Our car had slid off the country road into a snowdrift (雪堆). Daddy tried to start the car. Nothing happened. “We’re stuck,” he said. Even worse, his phone’s battery had run out.
Thankfully, we got Grandma’s worry box. We pulled out a blanket, hats, gloves, a fat candle, matches, and chocolate bars from the box. “Your grandma is a worrier, but she’s smart. I’ll try to listen to her advice and stay put during the next storm warning.”
The white wind pounded the car as we moved to the back seat. “Would the young lady care to snuggle (依偎)?” Daddy wrapped the blanket around us and over our heads. He lit the candle. A weak warmth filled our blanket tent. “We need to think warm,” said Daddy. “How about a warm song game?”
Then we began to sing warm songs, like “You Are My Sunshine.” We clapped and stamped as the white wind blew over the car. However, when our teeth chattered (打颤), it just made the songs sound silly.
“Will we stay here all night?” I asked. “I don’t think so,” Daddy said. “Grandma knows when we left, and Mom knows when we’re due home. They’ll have people looking for us when the snowstorm blows over.”
“But while we wait, how about a warm-thought contest? Whoever thinks of the warmest thought wins this handy, nutritious, delicious chocolate bar,” added Daddy. “You start.”
I thought. “Hot chocolate?”
“Pretty good.” said Daddy. “What about...sunburn on your shoulders.”
I said, “How about...wearing my furry coat.”
“And while you’re wearing your furry coat, you’re roasting hot dogs over a campfire.”
“And the campfire is on a sunny beach in California…in August!” added. “Top that, Daddy.”
“Hmm... got it!?” said Daddy. “The warmest thought of all time. Ready? Taking a swim in a pool of boiling chicken noodle soup. And you’re not allowed to hold onto noodles.”
I laughed. “You win this handy, nutritious, delicious chocolate bar!”
Daddy split it with me. We saved the other one for later.

The fairy lights twinkled (闪烁) on the Christmas tree as my baby slept peacefully in his bassinet (摇篮).
“Are you sure we’ve got everything?” my husband, Nick, 39, called out.
I rolled my eyes and dragged the last of our bags into the hallway.
“Yes, I’ve checked and checked again,” I replied.
Nick and I had been married for two years when we had our first child, Frank, eight months. Since he’d arrived, we’d collected endless amounts of baby equipment that needed to come on trips with us.
Nick and I put it all into the car. “Right, let’s hit the road,” Nick smiled, turning to me from the driver’s seat. We were heading to my mum’s for the festive season and I couldn’t wait to spend Christmas with my family. It was Frank’s first Christmas and it was set to be a huge occasion.
My brother and sister and their families, travelled down for the big day and I knew my mum, Sue, would go all out in the kitchen. She cooked really well. When we came in on Christmas Eve, the delicious smell of roast turkey and all the side dishes filled the kitchen.
“It smells great, Mum,” I said happily.
“I’ve done a few meats this year,” she said. “Chicken, a joint of beef and a turkey.”
“You spoil (宠坏) us!” I said.
We all clinked (碰杯) our glasses together and started eating the delicious Christmas meal. I said, “Happy Christmas!” and held up my drink. Everyone laughed and cheered, and I felt so grateful to be with my family.
The next day, I was in the kitchen preparing lunch for Frank when disaster struck. I was slicing some vegetables with a sharp knife when I accidentally cut my finger. Blood flowed out and I dropped the knife in shock.

On an extremely hot summer day, I got on a long-distance bus, my heart filled with excitement. The air was thick with heat, but my spirits were high as I thought about the upcoming get-together with my family. The bus pulled out of the station, entered the highway, and I settled into my seat, ready for the six-hour journey ahead.
As the miles passed by, the initial excitement began to decline, replaced by a growing unease. My head started to feel light, as if it were stuffed with cotton. Sweat drops appeared on my forehead, making my hair wet. I looked around the bus, hoping to find a familiar face, but all I saw were strangers' faces. There was nobody I could ask for help, which added to my discomfort, making me feel more nervous.
To make matters worse, I had been in such a hurry to catch the bus that I had forgotten to bring any extra money. This meant I couldn't even buy a bottle of water or some medicine to make myself feel better. I held my fists tight, trying my best to stop the feeling of sickness. I didn't want to draw attention to myself, so I tried to sit as still as possible, hoping the discomfort would disappear on its own.
The bus ran along the highway, the constant sickness adding to my unease. Time seemed to stretch endlessly, each minute feeling longer than the last. My discomfort grew more pronounced, and I began to feel increasingly lightheaded. The bus shook slightly as it traveled the winding road, and each turn felt like a shake to my already delicate state. I found it difficult to focus on anything other than the growing unease, my thoughts circling around the same worries and fears.
I closed my eyes, trying to block out the noise and movement. I took deep breaths, trying to calm myself, but the air felt heavy and unrefreshing. I thought I couldn't bear it any longer.

Talent Night
I had a problem —Talent Night was coming up, but I had no talent.
Let me introduce myself: Benjamin Belinski, Human Talent Void (空缺). Kate can make anything using paper folding. Tommy creates breath-taking beats on overturned plastic buckets. Olivia trains her pet dog to do tricks. And those are just my friends. My class also boasts (以……为荣) four dancers, a gymnast, two bakers, a boxing expert, six singers, and five artists, among others.
Every day my teacher asked if I’d decided what to do. And every day I reminded her that I had no talent. “Nonsense, Benjamin,” she would say. “You’ll think of something.” “I’ll just have to be sick the day of the show,” I announced to my friends one afternoon. “If you get a cold, be sure to cough on me.”
“You must have a talent,” said Kate to me. “Let’s make a list. What are you good at?” “Eating,” I answered. “Watching TV.” Kate rolled her eyes and said, “Benjamin, be serious!” Kate looked at our friends. “Come on, guys. What are Benjamin’s talents?”
“He’s good with dogs,” said Olivia. “My dog adores him.” She was telling the truth, I supposed, for I could sit on the stage while her dog licked my face. I was Benjamin Belinski, Human Dog Toy!
“Benjamin’s funny when he’s joking,” said Tommy. He turned to me. “You could do a comedy routine.” True, as every joke could be about how I had no talents. So I joked myself as Benjamin Belinski, Human Talent Void!
“Benjamin,” said Kate, “maybe you don’t know how to juggle (杂耍), but your birthday parties are the best.” Yeah, “ agreed Olivia,” and you always get us together to do stuff. Like having game nights or riding bikes after school — or when we held that yard sale. The week you had the flu, we didn’t do anything fun. “You’re like the glue holding us together,” added Tommy.” Oh, great, I joked. “Benjamin Belinski, Human Glue Gun!”

On a bitterly cold January morning in Alexandria, Minnesota, the temperatures had dropped dangerously below freezing point, and biting winds made conditions even worse. Overnight, a thick blanket of snow had quietly covered the town, streets were deserted, and a sharp silence hung in the air. People stayed indoors, enjoying hot drinks and keeping their fireplaces burning brightly, cautious of the bitter cold that threatened frostbite and hypothermia (失温).
The town was quiet as people remained indoors. However, Eleanor, an 83-year-old lady who lived alone, worried the birds would go hungry in this freezing weather. As she struggled through deep snow, her boots had suddenly slipped on hidden ice beneath, causing her to fall. Unable to rise with wet gloves and numb (麻木的) fingers, she had been stuck in the snow. Unfortunately, she could turn to nobody for help.
Originally, Eric Nelson had no intention of stepping outside that morning. He stood at his kitchen window, briefly observing the frozen landscape and rubbing (搓) his hands together to stay warm. However, as he thought about the possibility of frozen water pipes — an inconvenience that could make the already unbearable cold worse — he decided to step out quickly and inspect them.
As Eric opened his front door, an icy wind struck his face, nearly taking his breath away. To his surprise, he noticed his elderly neighbor Eleanor’s small dog, Maya, was already standing anxiously on his doorstep, shaking slightly but barking insistently. She moved her feet anxiously as her breath formed small white clouds in the cold air. Snow stuck to her fur, suggesting she had been outside for longer than was safe in such extreme temperatures.
Eric instantly sensed something was seriously wrong. Eleanor rarely went outside, especially in such extreme weather. Feeling increasingly uneasy, he quickly followed the anxious dog as she dashed urgently toward Eleanor’s backyard. When he arrived, his heart sank. Eleanor lay helplessly on the snow-covered ground near a bird feeder, pale-faced and shaking uncontrollably.

Lucy touched the tiny gray whiskers (胡须) on a plastic mouse and her fingers were trembling with excitement. “Ms. Thompson will think it’s real!” she whispered to Mia, recalling how their art teacher had nearly dropped her coffee last month when a mouse ran across the schoolyard.
Mia adjusted a mouse’s tail, saying, “But, what if she gets too scared?”
“Relax!” said Lucy. “It’s for April Fools’ Day! She laughed when we drew cat ears on her hat last week. This is just funnier!”
On April Fools’ Day, Lucy and Mia carefully placed some plastic mice under Ms. Thompson’ s sketchbook (素描册) in the art room before Ms. Thompson entered for a class. The girls were looking forward to witnessing the funny moment when Ms. Thompson saw the surprise. Soon Ms. Thompson stepped into the art room and greeted the students cheerfully. The two girls got excited and their eyes kept track of Ms. Thompson until she reached out for her sketchbook. The two girls looked at each other, waiting to together shout out “April Fools!”.
The scream filled the art room the moment Ms. Thompson spotted the plastic mice. Before the girls shouted, they saw Ms. Thompson standing frozen with a pale face. Other students burst into laughter but soon kept silent when they noticed their teacher’s shaking hands. A boy student rushed to pick up the plastic mice and throw them away.
Lucy’s stomach dropped. That wasn’t the playful reaction they’d expected. Ms. Thompson kept cleaning her glasses nervously and her cheerful voice was reduced to whispers. When Ms. Thompson dismissed the class early, leaving her sketchbook open, Lucy and Mia exchanged guilty glances (瞥).
During lunch break, Mia and Lucy had a talk. “We went too far,” Mia said. Lucy nodded with guilt. “We have to do something!” Mia said firmly. Lucy agreed, but she didn’t know what to do.

When I started my high school journey in an unfamiliar town, everything felt strange, from the sounds on the streets to the color of the sky. Loneliness was my constant companion, a reality that pained me deeply. I was floating in a sea of anxiety, lack of companionship.
Then, Emily entered my world. Our familiarity blossomed during my second week, perhaps because we sat close or had a shared task. I can’t remember how it began, but it changed everything. Emily’s warmth, humor, and approachability were a breath of fresh air. For the first time, I sensed a possibility of belonging.
However, the arrival of Jane, a girl in a wheelchair, broke my newfound balance. I first encountered her in class, who sat beside Emily, occupying my usual seat. Jane didn’t notice me, and I had to find another seat. It happened again and again, and I started to feel anxious. I told myself she was doing it on purpose, trying to push me out and take Emily away. But there’s a thing I had to admit that she always knew how to make people laugh.
I began to hate Jane. She seemed so comfortable and confident, making me feel small. I was upset that Emily didn’t notice my unease, and I felt like I was fighting to hold onto the only thing I had. I felt powerless, like I was standing on a shaky edge.
But then, Jane and I started talking. At first, it was just small talk during group discussions or quick hellos. She’d ask questions that bothered me, and I’d answer shortly, trying to end the conversation. But she’d let my words hang, waiting for me to fill the silence, and sometimes I did.
Gradually, our conversations became less unfriendly. Jane’s sharp wit and ability to command a room with her laughter started to grow on me. I found myself laughing along with the group, even when I tried to resist.

【答案】参考范文:
They walked around the island, trying to find something useful or a way to call for help. Jack climbed a rock to look farther, but he only saw the endless sea. Tom picked up dry grass and small pieces of wood to keep the fire burning. Robin searched near the trees and found some old glass bottles. “Maybe we can put a note inside and throw it into the sea,” he said. They wrote a message, put it in a bottle, and sent it out with hope. As the sun went down, the fire grew weak. The three men sat close together to keep warm, their eyes full of worry and fear.
Just when they began to feel hopeless, Robin saw something strange near the rocks. Walking closer, he was excited to find it was a broken mirror and a fishing net with a red flag reading “Rescue Team — North Beach”. “Look! We can use the mirror to send signals!” Robin shouted. Hearts beating faster, the three men tied the mirror to a stick and used it to reflect sunlight toward the sea. In the distance, a small boat seemed to be moving closer. They waved the mirror wildly. The boat began heading towards them! “They saw us!” Robin cried. The three hugged each other, tears filling their eyes. Rescue was finally coming.

【答案】参考作文
One Wednesday afternoon, I was cleaning up my classroom. I needed to get everything ready for the next day. Just as I was about to leave, a soft voice called into the empty classroom, “May I come in?” I looked up to see a girl standing in the doorway. It was Nicole. She stood there with her arms wrapped tightly around herself, as if she was trying to hold back her feelings. She looked up at me with a mixture of hope and sadness. Obviously, she was trying hard not to cry. “Nicole, what’s wrong?” I said gently, inviting her to come in.
Nicole fell into my arms and began to sob. Tears streamed down her cheeks when I hugged her tightly. We sat down in the chairs, and she began to pour out her heart. She told me about the challenges she was facing — peer pressure, family issues, and the overwhelming stress of growing up. We talked, we shared, and we left that room to go our separate ways. But I learned something new that day. Sometimes it doesn’t take four hugs to survive. Sometimes, it just takes one.

Dared she?

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version
Prissy hurried home, put matches away, and then headed for Uncle Richard’s house half a mile away. She had no trouble in breaking into Uncle Richard’s house, for the door was unfastened. She tripped into the kitchen, finding the dinner in its raw state: a piece of fresh pork, potatoes, cabbage, and the ingredients of a pudding. There was still a good fire in the stove, so in a short time, the kitchen was full of appetizing smell. “Uncle Richard said he’d be home by one,” said Prissy to herself, as the clock struck twelve, “I’ll set the table, dish up the dinner and leave it where it will keep warm before one, then I’ll slip away home.”
Prissy was just setting the table when a voice behind her said, “Well, well, what does this mean?” Prissy turned around, and there stood Uncle Richard! “I came to cook dinner for you, Uncle Richard,” stammered Prissy. “I’d meant to slip away before one.” “Humph!” said Uncle Richard drily. “Well, it smells good. Let’s enjoy it together.” They sat down. Prissy felt nervous, but Uncle Richard evidently had a good appetite. After the meal, he said slowly, “Prissy, you cooked a dinner for an old uncle who deserved to enjoy cold bites for his stubbornness. You brought me happiness today, and I believe I’ll have a happy year all the way through.” “Indeed, you will!” laughed Prissy. Uncle Richard looked at his niece with a smile of pleasure. “Good girl, promise to come and cook New Year’s dinner for me every New Year,” said Uncle Richard. And Prissy promised!

【答案】范文
“Now, let’s fix this mess together,” Aria encouraged her little brother. She brushed away her tears and gave her brother a hug. “It’s okay. We can make something even better — together!” She handed him some crayons and paper, and they sat side by side, working on a new masterpiece. Aria carefully rearranged the feathers, turning her brother’s scribbles into colorful patterns, while he proudly added his own little drawings. Their laughter filled the room as they mixed paints, and created a joyful, messy artwork. Aria realized that her brother’s “mistake” had actually made the gift more special.
After finishing the gift, the two kids brought it to their mother. With excited smiles, they presented the gift, wrapped in handmade paper. “Happy Birthday, Mom!” they cheered. Their mother’s eyes widened as she unwrapped it — bright colors, feathers, and even tiny fingerprints. “Did you make this together?” she asked. They nodded eagerly. “It’s perfect,” she whispered, pulling them close. Aria looked at her brother, full of pride. This gift wasn’t just a painting; it was a memory they had created — and fixed — together.

Above, the snow showed no signs of stopping. “It shouldn’t be too much longer now,” Daddy said. “I don’t think I can wait much longer.” A tear rolled from my eye. Daddy wrapped me in the blanket and lifted me into his lap. He lowered his face to mine and sang softly. Finally, sunlight fought back the clouds and filled our car. It warmed the air a little.
Then, red and blue, red and blue — The police had found us! A police officer took us into his car. It was so warm that I took off my hat and gloves. After a while, Daddy did, too. The officer gave us each a cup of hot chocolate. “Daddy? I want one more chance at the warm-thought contest. OK?” He nodded. “Being in a warm car, drinking hot chocolate, with you as a snuggle partner.” Daddy smiled and said, “I owe you a chocolate bar, young lady.”

【答案】
Nick rushed over, his face turning pale. “Oh my God, are you okay?” he asked, trying to stay calm. I looked down at my finger and saw that part of it was almost cut off. Panic set in, but Nick quickly grabbed a towel and pressed it against the wound. “We need to get you to the hospital,” he said urgently. My mother, Sue, came running in, her eyes wide with concern. “I’ll call an ambulance,” she said, dialing 999. As I sat there, my finger was painful, and I felt a wave of gratitude for my family’s support.
At the hospital, the doctors worked quickly to reattach my finger. The surgery was successful, and I was relieved to hear that I would make a full recovery. As I lay in the hospital bed, my family gathered around me. My brother and sister brought me funny cards and small gifts to cheer me up. The doctors and nurses were amazed at how well I was coping, and I knew it was because of the love and support from my family. This accident was a reminder that even in the midst of chaos and pain, family and love can bring light and strength.

【答案】 Just then, an old man sitting beside me noticed my pale face. He gently touched me on the shoulder and asked what was wrong. I told him my situation weakly. Without hesitation, the old man reached into his bag and took out a bottle of water and some medicine. He handed them to me with a warm smile and said, "Here, young man. This might help you feel better." I was so moved that I could hardly say a word. I took the medicine and drank some water. Gradually, my discomfort started to disappear.
As the bus continued its journey, the old man began sharing stories of his youth. He spoke of working as a traveling doctor, meeting people from all walks of life. Each story was filled with warmth and wisdom, painting vivid pictures in my mind. His voice was calm and soothing making the long hours on the bus feel shorter. I found myself forgetting my earlier discomfort captivated by his tales. By the time we reached our destination, I felt not only physically better but also enriched by his kindness and the memories he shared.

【答案】One possible version:
Anyway, their comments made me think of something. Lying in bed that night, I came up with a plan so exciting that it took me two hours to fall asleep. In the morning, I couldn’t wait to tell my teacher. “Great idea, Benjamin!” she said. “True to who you are.” In the next few weeks, I wrote a long list, ensuring everything and every step in place. I asked various stores to donate decorations needed for the gym. I even covered the seats with blue and yellow paper. Finally came the big night!
During the show, everyone and everything was perfect. Tommy impressed us with his drumming, the gymnast with handsprings, and singers and dancers with theirs. Guests tasted student-baked cookies while enjoying displays of paper folding, paintings, and other artworks. Finally, my teacher stepped onto the stage. “Everybody contributed to this marvelous night” she announced. “However, one person stayed behind the scenes and he deserves special recognition for making it proceed so smoothly. Big hand to an enormous talent—Benjamin Belinski, Producer!” I waved sheepishly and bowed. Benjamin Belinski, Producer. I like that.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
Without hesitation, Eric rushed to Eleanor. His heart pounding wildly, he gently rolled her over, only to find her lips turning blue and her body shivering violently. With great care, he scooped her up in his arms, mindful of her fragile condition. Racing back to his house, he laid her on the couch, covering her with every blanket he could find. Immediately, he dialed 911, relaying Eleanor’s condition to the operator. As he waited, Eric heated water bottles, placing them around her body to warm her up. Eventually, the ambulance arrived, taking Eleanor to the hospital.
Two days later, Eleanor knocked on Eric’s door after being released from the hospital. Her eyes sparkled with gratitude. “Eric, I’m truly indebted to you,” she said, holding out a hand-knitted scarf. “This is a small token of my appreciation.” Eric beamed, declining the gift at first. But seeing the earnestness in her eyes, he accepted it. “You’re more than welcome, Eleanor. I’m just glad you’re okay.” From then on, their bond deepened, and they became closer than ever, setting an example of neighborly love in the community.

【答案】
An idea struck Lucy as she saw cat drawings in Ms. Thompson’s sketchbook. The two girls decided to turn those plastic mice into a lovely cat. They found the abandoned plastic mice and worked immediately. After finishing their artwork, they wrote a note reading, “We’re sorry for what we have done. Those mice have been eaten by the cat. That’s a punishment for them. Punish us if you’re still angry. From Lucy and Mia.” After school, the two girls put the lovely plastic cat and the note beside Ms. Thompson’s sketchbook.
In the next art class, Ms. Thompson noticed the plastic cat and the note beside her sketchbook. Lucy and Mia held their breath as Ms. Thompson examined the plastic cat and read the note. Suddenly, Ms. Thompson chuckled — a warm sound like wind chimes. Holding up the plastic cat and displaying it to the whole class, Ms. Thompson announced, “Brilliant recycling!” Applause exploded in the art room. Lucy felt Mia squeeze her hand as Ms. Thompson winked at them. The earlier fear in Ms. Thompson’s eyes was replaced by twinkling pride.

【答案】An incident brought Jane close to me. It was a rainy day, and I had forgotten my umbrella. As I stood by the school entrance, hesitating to dash into the downpour, Jane rolled up beside me with a smile. “Need a ride?” she asked, offering me a place under her umbrella. I hesitated but accepted. As we made our way through the rain, she told stories that made me laugh, and I found myself opening up to her. It was at that moment that I realized Jane wasn’t the enemy. She was just another person trying to find her place in the world.
Emily also became the facilitator of our friendship. She organized study sessions and after-school activities that we could all enjoy. Over time, the three of us became inseparable. We learned to appreciate each other’s differences and strengths. We supported each other through the highs and lows of high school, and it was through these shared experiences that we truly became harmonious with one another, proving that sometimes, the most unexpected friendships can he the most rewarding.
