I was resting in the water when something hit my leg. I knew it was an alligator(短吻鳄) as soon as it bit (咬) me. I cried for help at once, but my family didn’t know what was wrong. I started to hit the nine-foot-long alligator, and then I remembered something I learned at an alligator education park: The nose is the most sensitive (敏感的) part of an alligator! I stuck my fingers up its nose, and soon it let go of me. I tried to get out of the water, but I couldn’t because my leg was hurt. Then my uncle came and pulled me out of the water. It was the lifeguard’s first day of work, and he was shaking while he dealt with my leg. Soon I was rushed to the hospital…
I have a big scar (疤痕) that makes me sad when I look at it sometimes, because I think about how scared I was that day. But I also remember how brave I was in that moment. Sometimes you’re in a situation where nobody else can help you and you have to think fast and help yourself. That’s what I did.

As the old saying goes, “It is never too late to learn.” Lifelong learning means that we can keep learning useful skills in our daily life. It can not only help us solve the difficulties in learning, but also meet the needs of our development. But how can you become a lifelong learner?
First of all, set learning goals. You should clearly know what you want to learn. And you should know that lifelong learning is about yourself, not what others want. You should also think about something that interests you.
Second, keep a habit of reading. Reading is a door to the minds of humans. By reading, you will have a better understanding of the world. It allows you to learn to be alone in peace, and lets you know where others’ mistakes lie. You’ll learn from them more easily.
Third, applying (应用) is the best way to test what you’ve learned. It can help you check the results of your learning. It can also help you avoid forgetting quickly. So you can know what you do well in and what you need to improve.
All in all, a lifelong learner is someone who considers learning as a daily habit throughout life. Promise yourself to learn something new every day. Then you’ll make progress every day in the rest of your life.

Second keep a habit of reading.
