Song Lingdong, a native of Cao County, Heze, Shandong Province, has become a shining star in the field of Chinese space exploration, bringing great pride to our hometown.
In 1990, Song Lingdong was born into a common family in Heze. When he was 13 years old, he watched the successful launch of Shenzhou V, and since then, the dream of flying into space was planted in his heart. In 2008, he joined the army and became a pilot. ① During the training, he overcame many difficulties with his strong will.
In 2020, Song Lingdong was chosen as a member of the third batch of Chinese astronauts. After experiencing the failure of the first mission selection, he learned to be patient and calm. He even took up fishing to cultivate his mind. His efforts and changes made his training results improve steadily.
On October 30, 2024, the Shenzhou XIX manned spacecraft was successfully launched, and Song Lingdong started his space journey. Before setting off, Song Lingdong took a peony (牡丹) painting drawn by his family into space. He said, “Peonies carry wonderful meanings, symbolizing good luck and prosperity. I’ll hang it in my sleeping area, and it will keep encouraging me to complete the mission better. Also, when the peonies bloom next year, it will be the time for us to return home.”
On December 17, 2024, he became the first “post-90s” astronaut to carry out a spacewalk in China. As he expected, at 13:08 on April 30, 2025, Beijing time, the re-entry module of the Shenzhou XIX manned spacecraft landed safely at the Dongfeng Landing Site.

Youtiao is one of the traditional breakfast foods in China. Almost all youtiao is long and golden-brown. Youtiao usually comes in pairs. Do you know why? Experiments have proven that only by sticking two strips of dough (生面团) together and frying them can youtiao expand enough and become crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
In most cases, people eat youtiao in the morning. Generally, youtiao is paired with soya milk (豆浆), porridge or tofu pudding. Nowadays, there are many creative ways to enjoy youtiao. For example, it can be eaten with hot pot, dipped in sugar, or even coated with chocolate.
You may not know that youtiao is over 800 years old! It first appeared during the Southern Song Dynasty, and there’s a fun story about it.
At that time, there was a very brave general named Yue Fei. He led his army to many victories. However, an official named Qin Hui and his wife were jealous of Yue Fei’s achievements, so they made up false charges (虚假指控) against him. Finally, Yue Fei was sadly killed.
The people were very angry, but they couldn’t openly fight against Qin Hui. So they came up with a clever idea: they shaped dough into the form of two people, representing Qin Hui and his wife, and then fried them in oil, calling it “Fried Hui (油炸桧)”. Later, the fried dough became what we now call youtiao. But this is just a story-real history may be simpler: it’s just an ancient fried snack!
11.Why are two strips of dough stuck together and fried?
12.What’s the main idea of the second paragraph?
13.Which hero is youtiao connected with?
14.How did people in Song Dynasty show their anger to Qin Hui?
15.Do you like youtiao for breakfast? Why or why not?

In many countries of the world, people are saying, “We must do something about our rubbish. We don’t want our world to become one big landfill site (垃圾填埋场).”
In Ireland, the government was very worried about plastic bags so they asked people to pay for them. Since 2002, Irish people have been paying for the bags they take home from the shops. Of course, they soon stopped buying new bags and started taking bags with them when shopping.
Some countries have made even bigger changes. In 2006, the people of Zanzibar decided to stop making plastic bags. They were worried the bags were killing fish and sea animals. They also said that nobody could bring plastic bags into the country. So there were no plastic bags in the country soon.
One of the most exciting recycling ideas is Freecycle. It has grown around the world.
People join a Freecycle group because they are looking for things or have things that they want to give to other people. Perhaps they have a chair they do not need any more, or they want a camera. They leave a message on the Internet to tell people what they want or what they are going to give. Nobody buys or sells anything—people give things to other people who want them. It is a good idea because it recycles useful things.
Recycling is important and sometimes it is exciting too. Using less and reusing are also important answers to the problem of rubbish.
16.What did the Ireland government ask people to do?
17.Why were there no plastic bags in Zanzibar?
18.Why is Freecycle a good idea?
19.What’s the writer’s attitude (态度) about recycling?
20.As a student, what should you do to solve the problem of rubbish in your daily life?

In October, 14-year-old Yash Mehta from the US won first place in the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge and a $3,500 (25,500 yuan) prize. He created his own electronic Braille reader (电子盲文阅读器).
Mehta’s journey began when he visited his grandfather in India, who helps run a school for the blind. He found that none of the students had a modern electronic braille reader. Then he learned that most braille readers cost around $3,000, with some costing as much as $15,000.
Mehta, who loves engineering and helping others, decided to make a model that cost less than $50. After overcoming problems such as coding (编程), the young engineer finally invented a small reader that only cost $35, with 86 percent accuracy (准确率).
Mehta noticed the serious situation for the blind around the world. “There are now 36 million people with eyesight problems around the world. Also, 89percent of blind people live in low and medium-income (中低收入的) countries, where it is very hard to find electronic braille reader.” said Mehta.
Having cheaper braille readers is necessary for the education of the blind because they can’t pay for the expensive braille readers. “Cutting down the cost of braille readers is very important to make education more possible for everyone,” Mehta said.
For Mehta, cutting the cost of the machine is not enough. He also wants to make the machine more convenient to use, such as by improving its WiFi connection. He is now working with schools and hopes to provide 1,000 free readers to blind people in developing countries each year.
21.Why could Yash Mehtawin first place and a $3,500 prize in the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge?
22.How much did the electronic braille reader invented by Mehta cost?
23.What’s the influence of cutting down the cost of braille readers according to Mehta?
24.What else does Mehta want to do besides cutting the cost of the machine?
25.What do you think of Mehta? Why?

El Nino is a weather event that can cause a lot of problems around the world. It brings too much rain in some places, makes other areas really dry for a long time, and (A) it also causes other kinds of bad weather.
El Nino is the name of the bad weather that happens in the Pacific Ocean. During a typical summer, South Asia experiences rainfall. However, in certain years, the Pacific Ocean’s unusual behavior moves this rainfall east. As the rain moves across the ocean, it warms the water along its path. Once it reaches the coasts of North and South America, the warm water takes the place of the cold water. This change in water temperature has a domino effect (多米诺效应). Fish, being (B) sensitive to temperature; leave their homes and swim to more suitable, cooler waters. Birds that depend on them also move away.
During an El Nino event, the warmer sea surface temperatures cause too much water in southern US and South America. What’s more. because the warm rain clouds tend to move eastward, long-term dry spells take place in South Asia, Australia, and even parts of Africa. These dry conditions can have a bad influence on agriculture (农业), water resources, and the ecosystem of these areas. Crops die, water sources dry up, and wildlife can hardly ever find enough water and food to live on.
Typically, an El Nino event lasts for a period of nine to twelve months. But its influences are felt around December. It doesn’t happen every year though, usually between two to seven years.
The strongest El Nino on record happened in 1982-1983. In the West Pacific, it caused very serious dry weather, sandstorms and forest fires in Australia, Africa and South Asia. In the East Pacific, Peru (秘鲁) was hit with about 3m of rainfall in areas where about 1cm was normal. It is the heaviest rainfall ever recorded. That year’s El Nino caused 1,300-2,000 people to die.

On April 3, 2025, more than 2,300 students and teachers from Guyuan City in Ningxia started their yearly 54-kilometer walk. They did this to show their respects to the soldiers who tried to free the region. This year is the 30th year of the “walking ideological and political education class” (行走的思政课). It started in 1995 and has inspired more than 30,000 students.
The walk starts before sunrise. Students taking part carry white flowers they made by hand and sing songs like Unity Means Power (《团结就是力量》). They walk on muddy mountain paths to Renshanhe Martyrs’ Cemetery (任山河烈士陵园). 391 soldiers were buried there. Many of them were only 18 to 25 years old. The walk is difficult. Students often face rain, snow and tiredness.
This activity combines history with practical learning. Students write poems for the martyrs and act out historical stories in lessons. At the cemetery, they clean the tombstones and read the names of the dead soldiers. One student said, “Touching the cold stones made me know what sacrifice (牺牲) really means.”
Over the years, this walk has become a national model for education. Schools in China now organize trips like this. The live broadcast (直播) in 2024-2025 attracted over 100 million viewers. New technologies, like AI facial reconstructions (修复) of martyrs, make students talk to historical figures, which makes the experience even better.
Many former students, like spacecraft designer Yan Qi, said the walk taught them to be strong and work as a team. Teachers said it helps students understand the cost of peace better.
This 30-year-old tradition shows that education is not just about books. It’s about feeling history with your feet and your heart. As a teacher said, “When students walk this path, they carry on memory and responsibility.”

Nicole Xu reached her hand into a water box and directly caught a live moon jellyfish (水母). Quickly and carefully, she put a tiny electronic device into the jellyfish.
“It takes a little bit of practice,” she says. “But once you know how to do it, it’s very simple and very quick.” Xu is an engineer at the University of Colorado Boulder. She handed the jellyfish to a pair of divers (潜水员) waiting in the water along the coast of Woods Hole, Mass. The divers took the animal down to the bottom of the ocean, then let it go. Speedily, it swam up to the top of the ocean.
Jellyfish swim by pushing water through their bodies. The device that Xu put in the jellyfish used electricity to jolt (刺激) the jellyfish’s body so they moved faster. It reached the top of the ocean more than twice as fast as usual. In lab tests, the device made the animals swim three times faster.
With its device, this jellyfish is called a bio hybrid robot. That means it has electronics, such as the device in the jellyfish, that work together with a living system. Researchers are building bio hybrid robots with all kinds of living parts. Scientists are making bio hybrid robots with many different living parts, like insect antennae, human skin, and fungus.
It may seem strange to mix-up technology and living parts. But living beings have developed to do certain tasks over millions of years. In many cases, their bodies can do things that are still hard or even impossible for machines.
“By uniting biology and engineering, you can create robots with abilities beyond traditional machines,” says Shoji Takeuchi. He develops bio hybrid robots at the University of Tokyo in Japan.
This bio hybrid robot is just the beginning. In the future, we’ll see even more surprising examples of animal-machine joins—and the types of tasks they might be especially suited for.
35.What did Nicole Xu put into the jellyfish?
36.How did the device help the jellyfish swim faster?
37.Why are living beings good at certain tasks?
38.Why do scientists make bio hybrid robots?
39.Is using animals for bio hybrid robots a good idea? Why or why not?

Over the past few years, people of all ages have been discovering that they can do many things by using AI chatbots (聊天机器人). Powered by AI, chatbots can deal with a wide range (范围) of tasks, such as replying to messages and providing useful information.
On social media, different users have shared what they use chatbots for. For example, as a teacher, Lisa usually uses the chatbot to get new ideas or organize information. It can always come up with creative ideas and save her a lot of time. John is a middle school student, and he uses the chatbot to practice English. It helps improve his speaking and writing. He thinks it is always polite and patient, just like a perfect teacher.
Chatbots have many advantages, but it’s necessary to learn how to use them wisely. Here are some experts’ suggestions. First, chatbots are not always right. Always double check the information given by chatbots. Second, don’t always turn to chatbots for answers. That might make you less skilled at solving problems. Try to solve problems yourself first. Use chatbots only when you are truly in need or want to check your answers. Third, don’t talk to chatbots all the time, which might make you feel lonely or disconnected from people. Find a good balance (平衡) between talking to chatbots and spending time with friends and family.
Though chatbots are becoming increasingly useful, they’re not perfect yet. Accept the fact that they have limitations (局限) and don’t expect too much from them.
40.What does Lisa use the chatbot to do?
41.How does John like the chatbot?
42.What is the writer’s purpose of the third paragraph?
43.Why shouldn’t we always turn to chatbots for answers?
44.Do you often use chatbots when studying? Why or why not?

Great inventions are changing and improving our lives in many ways. A 3D printer, one of the great inventions, is like a magical machine. It can make objects into real things from computer designs. What is more amazing, two young scientists made a special 3D food printer in Qatar. It can use bits of vegetables to create food!
These smart students, Annan and Mansoori, are students at Carnegie Mellon University in Doha. To make the 3D carrot, they first used very small parts of a real carrot and made lots of them in a science lab. Then they used these tiny parts like ink (墨水) in their printer to make the carrot. By using vegetable cells (细胞) and ultraviolet (紫外线) (UV) , a new carrot is printed. UV light is a kind of energy that helps stick the carrot bits together. The invention may help with food safety.
They chose carrots in the test because scientists knew a lot about how carrot parts grew into plants. Mansoori said 3D-printed food can be made cheaply. It doesn’t require large areas of land. It also does not require maintenance (维护) costs. 3D-printed carrots are cheaper than real carrots.
Today, 733 million people are facing hunger. Mansoori hopes 3D printers will be used in restaurants, supermarkets, and hospitals. The purpose, she said, is to make food reachable to people all over the world.

A group of young people often went fishing in a small deep lake. To their surprise, there was a fisherman always fishing in a part of the river not far from the small lake. The young people thought the fisherman was silly. How could he catch fish in such big waves (波浪)? It was wishful thinking. They thought the old man would leave in a few days, but a month later, the old man was still fishing in the rapid river.
One day, one of the young men asked the fisherman, “It’s impossible to catch fish in these rapid waters. Why are you still here? ” the fisherman said nothing, but picked up his basket and put it upside down. Suddenly a number of fish fell off the basket. These fish that were jumping up and down on the ground were so big and fat.
The young man was very surprised. Why did the fisherman catch such big fish in such a quick water? The fisherman smiled and said, “The low oxygen (氧气) in the lake is enough for small fish, But these big fish need to have more oxygen in water. They can only go somewhere with big waves. There’s more oxygen in the bigger waves, so there are more big fish there. ”Again the fisherman said, “Many people think that the places with big waves are not right for fish to live, so they choose to fish in a quiet deep lake. But they are just wrong. Strong winds and waves seem to be the suffering (磨难) for fish, but these sufferings are the best oxygen feeder for fish. Only through these hardships can fish grow well. ”
60.Why did the young people think the fisherman was silly at first?
61.How did the fisherman prove he could catch fish in the rapid river?
62.According to the fisherman, why do big fish choose to live in waters with big waves?

Kongming Lanterns, also known as sky lanterns, have a long and fascinating history. Legend (传说) has it that during the Three Kingdoms period, Zhuge Liang first invented them. When he was in a difficult situation, he made lanterns with thin paper and let them fly into the sky, successfully sending messages. This is how Kongming Lanterns got their name.
In ancient times, Kongming Lanterns were used in the army. As time went by, people began to see them as symbols of hope and good luck. Kongming Lanterns are an important part of Chinese culture. They are often seen as a way to pray for good luck. People write their wishes on the lanterns and then let them fly into the sky, believing that their dreams will come true. During festivals like the Lantern Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival, Kongming Lanterns light up the night sky, creating a warm and festive atmosphere.
The traditional way to make a Kongming Lantern is quite simple. First, make a bamboo frame to form the shape of the lantern. Next, cover it with thin and lightweight paper. Finally, attach a small fuel block (燃料块) at the bottom. In modern times, there have been many innovations (创新). Some people use LED lights instead of fuel blocks, because they are safer and can save more energy. Some are made of environmentally friendly materials.
However, the release of Kongming Lanterns also brings some problems. They can cause fires if they fall on dry grass or trees. Moreover, when they are thrown-away, they can pollute the environment. To solve these problems, we should choose open areas away from buildings and forests when flying them. And we should try to use environmentally friendly lanterns.
Nowadays, Kongming Lanterns are used in creative ways. They are often used in art exhibitions. They are also a popular choice for weddings. In the future, with the development of technology, Kongming Lanterns may be controlled smartly, making them safer and more interesting.
Kongming Lanterns are not only a traditional cultural symbol but also a source of joy. While we enjoy the beauty and fun they bring, we should also take environmental protection and safety into consideration. Let’s work together to pass on this wonderful tradition.
请务必将小题的答案写在答题卡的相应位置!
65.According to legend, how did Zhuge Liang send messages?
66.How many steps are there in making a traditional Kongming Lantern?
67.Why do modern Kongming Lanterns use LED lights instead of fuel blocks?
68.Where are Kongming Lanterns often used nowadays?

When I’m feeling bored and in need of relaxation, I love visiting a park. It’s like a magical place that right away brings me calm and peace. While there aren’t any large, traditional parks in my neighbourhood, I’m lucky to have a few pocket parks nearby. And they can provide a quick and easy escape for me whenever the boredom hits me.
Known as mini-parks or green pockets, pocket parks are simply smaller green spaces. These parks can be found in various locations, such as open spaces between buildings, street corners, or even on rooftops (屋顶), all of which are within walking distance (距离).
Although pocket parks are small, they are nicely designed with different kinds of plants. In these beautiful places, you can take a walk, have a picnic with friends, or even do some light exercise like tai chi or yoga. Some pocket parks also have play areas for children, making them perfect for families to enjoy time together.
What makes pocket parks truly special is their ability to serve as gathering spots (聚集场所) for local communities. They offer a space where neighbours can meet, chat, and get to know each other. Even a simple smile or friendly nod can brighten someone’s day. The warm atmosphere brings people closer and makes them feel comfortable in their neighbourhoods.
By offering cleaner air and peaceful spaces for people to relax, pocket parks are part of a larger effort to make the city more livable. Many cities in China are now leading the way in developing pocket parks. Shenyang, with over 3,000 pocket parks, has become the city with the most pocket parks in China. And in Linyi, there are more than 1000 pocket parks now.
75.When the writer feels bored, where does he/she like to go?

Recently, I asked a seeing friend who had just walked in the woods what she had noticed. “Nothing special, ” she replied.
How was it possible, I asked myself, to walk through the woods and see nothing worthy (值得) of note? I cannot see, but I can find hundreds of things to interest me only through touch. If I can get so much pleasure from touch, how much more beauty must be found by sight (视力)? And I have imagined what I should most like to see if I were given the use of my eyes for just three days.
On the first day, I should want to see the people who have made my life worth living and the books which have been read to me. In the afternoon, I should take a walk in the woods and admire the beauties of nature. That night, I should not be able to sleep.
On my second day, I should go to the museums to see man’s progress. I should try to explore the spirit of-man through his art. In the evening, I should spend at the movies.
The following day, I should spend in the world of common people going about the business of life. At midnight, permanent (永久的) night would close in on me again, and I should realize how much I had left unseen.
I am blind. And I want to give one suggestion to those who see: Use your eyes as if tomorrow you would be blind. The same is true of other senses. Hear the songs of birds, as if you would be deaf tomorrow. Smell the flowers, as if tomorrow you could never smell again. . . But of all the senses, I’m sure that sight must be the most pleasant.

Chang’e 7 probe (探测器) will travel to the moon in 2026. Thanks to some school kids in Hunan, it will carry a special national flag of China.
During a regular meeting of Lushan International Experimental Primary School’s science club, Deng Haoxuan raised an interesting question, “There is no wind on the moon, so how can we make the flag fly?” This question led to a heated discussion among his classmates.
Deng remembered that magnets (磁铁) can push away from each other, and he thought this might help the flag fly. However, when they tried using magnets, they found them too heavy and the flag kept falling.
Then, Deng and his team came up with a new idea. They glued wires (电线) to the flag. When the electric passed through these wires, they created a magnetic field (磁场). This made the flag move like magnets do.
The kids didn’t stop there. They learned that the idea might still work in space. After months of continuous testing and countless adjustments, they finally discovered the ideal position to place the wires.
“It’s amazing that our idea worked, and soon we’ll see the five-star red flag fly in space,” Deng said with excitement.
90.When will the special national flag of China be carried to the moon?
91.Why can’t flags normally fly on the moon?
92.What was the first problem the kids faced when trying to make the flag fly?
93.Why did the kids test their idea for months?

An old saying used for forecasting (预报) the weather says, “Red sky at night, sailors’ delight (高兴). Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning.” Is the saying true? A red sky at sunset may mean that there are clear skies to the west, where the sun sets. A red sky at sunrise usually means that the clear weather has already passed, so storms might be coming.
Forecasting the weather has been practiced for thousands of years. In the 5th century BC, the Greeks sent out forecasts to sailors. They used signs in nature to forecast the weather. But today, meteorologists (气象学家) give exact forecasts in advance (提前).They use scientific instruments to study weather conditions around the world and make forecasts, Pilots, farmers and many other people depend on these forecasts. Luckily, most of us can simply look on the smart phone or turn on the TV to find out what kind of weather is coming.
If you are looking for some signs of the weather, pay attention to nature. There are two basic rules used in weather forecasting: Weather generally moves from west to east, and low air pressure usually means rain or snow. So pay attention to the signs. If rainbows form in the west at sunrise, the sun is on the way. Smell the flowers--their smells are stronger in wet air. What are the ants doing? Are they moving to higher ground? This could mean a drop (下降) in air pressure. Are the birds flying low or high? Falling air pressure may influence birds’ ears, so they fly low. And if the sky is red at sunset, you might plan a picnic for the next day!
95.What does a red sky at sunrise mean according to the passage?
96.Please translate the underlined sentence into Chinese.(请将文中划线句子翻译成汉语)
97.What is the main difference between ancient and modern weather forecasting?
98.How will the flowers smell if the birds fly lower?

Longjing tea, also known as West Lake Dragon Well tea. is one of China’s 10 most famous teas. As is known to all, Longjing tea-picking depends largely on manual (手工的) work. But now Longjing tea can be picked by “metal workers”—tea-picking robots! In one tea garden of Hangzhou, three smart tea-picking robots invented by Zhejiang Sci-tech University appeared in public
“Most of the tea pickers are in their 60s and hardly any young people would like to take up the work. If so, the Longjing tea industry may face problems when there is nobody left to help pick the leaves,” Jia Jiangming, developer of the robots, says when explaining why his team started to develop tea-picking robots.
The tea-picking robot learns through a specially designed model that offers it a large number of information about tea leaves. With a pair of 3D eyes, this allows the robot to recognize tea leaves by itself. The robot uses its arms to move back and forth as it searches for tea buds (芽). When it locates them, it uses a pair of scissors and a suction device (吸力装置) to cut and collect the tea buds.
Yet, the robot’s picking system needs improving before it can be more widely used. The robot can only take on the work of 1.5 workers at present. In addition, the robot can now only be used on flat ground, not on rough (高低不平的) ground.

102.How does the tea-picking robot learn?
103.What do the tea-picking robots use to cut and collect the tea buds?

It was the sports meeting once a year in our school. But my foot still hadn’t completely healed (痊愈) because of an accident. I wondered whether I should attend the meeting or not. But I had prepared for it for a long time and I was ready for the 1,500-meter race.
The gun sounded and we were off. The other boys rushed ahead of me, I felt ashamed as I fell farther behind.
“Hooray!” The crowd shouted. It was the loudest cheer I had ever heard at the sports meeting.
The first-place runner was one lap (圈) ahead of me when he crossed the finish line.
“Maybe I should give up.” I thought as I ran. However, I kept going. During the last lap, I ran in pain and decided not to race next year, even though by that time my foot had healed.
When I finished, I heard much louder cheers from the girls. “They must be cheering for the winner.” I thought.
I was leaving the meeting when several girls came up to me. “Wow, you’ve shown a lot of courage!” One of them told me. “We were cheering for you. Did you hear us?”

①If your friends are always playing tricks (戏弄) on you, you should make sure if they are actually your friends.
②Tell real friends apart. A true friend won’t want to do anything that seriously upsets (使……生气) you. A little teasing (取笑) among friends is normal. If your friends always make fun of you in front of others you should be well-prepared to react to them.
③Behave in a confident way. You don’t need to feel confident all the time, but do your best to look that way; if you appear more confident, you are less likely to be made fun of. People find confidence powerful. If they can’t predict what you’re going to say, they aren’t going to risk making fun of you.
④Talk to them when it makes you uncomfortable. A little bit of teasing is normal among friends, but if it is happening so often that it bothers you, it’s probably out of control. Your friends may not even know how much it annoys you. Be sure to talk with each friend face to face and tell him or her it makes you uneasy (不舒服的). If you try to keep silent while it’s happening, it may just make the teasing worse.
⑤Just forget about it. Take not a musket (步枪) to kill a butterfly, and don’t ask for an apology (道歉). A good friend will apologize without being asked, once he realizes you are truly upset. And you will be friends again. Don’t take it too seriously.
⑥Tell how you feel to others. If the situation gets too bad, and you can’t find a way to get it under control, you may need to talk to a parent or teacher. They may be able to find a way to deal with the situation. And they will not let anyone know it was you who said something.
110.How many pieces of advice on dealing with the teasing of friends? (no more than 3words)
111.If the teasing makes you uncomfortable, what will you do then (no word limited)?
112.What’s the structure of this passage (①= Paragraph 1)? Draw it out.

To see the world around us, we use our eyes. Our eyes are very clever. Each eye catches a different picture, so we can have a 3D picture of what we see. Our eyes can help us to see things that are a very long way away or very close. We can see well when it is bright or dark.
Being able to see well is really important. We do things every day with our eyes. If we couldn’t see well, it would be very dangerous.
Our eye is made up of different parts. In the middle of the eye is the pupil that lets in light. The coloured part is called the iris, which helps the pupil open and close. The eyelid can stop the eyeball from being dry and protect it. The eyelashes keep dirt and other things away from our eyes.
Our eyes will not work so well when we don’t use them properly. So it’s very necessary for us to take good care of our eyes. There are many things we can do to protect them. For example, it’s good for us to check them at least twice a year.

Traditional Chinese art and culture are finding new life on the Internet thanks to the effort to protect the country’s history for a new generation (一代人). The project, called China Vine (藤), is a collaboration (合作) between the United States and China. Through China Vine, the group is sharing Chinese customs and culture using modern technology.
“Many Chinese traditions are centered in the countryside, but people are moving to cities as China becomes an economic powerhouse (经济强国),” explained Kristin Congdon. Folk traditions are changing or being lost because people move to the cities for work. The Chinese view their traditional culture as an important part of China’s history. “The traditions that have been practiced for generations should be protected.” said Congdon.
To help people learn about China’s cultural heritage (遗产), China Vine’s designed a website. Students and professors have explored Chinese villages. They took descriptions and pictures of disappearing art forms for the project. They’ve visited some towns that seldom see visitors, and recorded documentaries (纪录片) of locals as they create their art and share stories of their culture on the website.
Bachelor, who is studying Piano and Language, joined the China Vine team, said he made a life-changing first trip to Beijing in January to research traditional Chinese music for China Vine. During the trip, Bachelor had the opportunity to share one of his performances in the China Conservatory (音乐学院) of Music, where he will return to study music after he graduates from UCF in May.
All the website’s materials are open resources, and it means that its texts, photographs, videos, and other media can be freely used by teachers and learners. “We want to continue to add resources to the website and develop our partnerships in China so that the English-speaking world can learn more about the Chinese,” said Congdon.

Song Lingdong’s story tells us that as long as we have a dream and work hard for it, we can achieve great things. He is not only a hero of China’s space industry but also an example for all of us in Heze. We are proud of him!

【答案】11.To make youtiao taste better./Youtiao can expand enough and become crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. 12.Youtiao can be eaten in many ways./There are many ways to enjoy youtiao. 13.Yue Fei. 14.They shaped dough into the form of Qin Hui and his wife, and then fried them in oil, calling it “Fried Hui”. 15.Yes, I do. Because youtiao tastes good./No, I don’t. Because I don’t like fried food.(答案合理即可)
【导语】本文介绍了中国传统早餐食品油条的起源、特点以及现代多样化的食用方式。
11.根据“Experiments have proven that only by sticking two strips of dough (生面团) together and frying them can youtiao expand enough and become crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.”可知,把两条面团粘在一起煎,油条才能膨胀到足够的程度,变得外脆内软,即这样油条尝起来更好吃。故填To make youtiao taste better./Youtiao can expand enough and become crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
12.根据第二段内容可知,本段主要介绍了油条的食用方法。故填Youtiao can be eaten in many ways./There are many ways to enjoy youtiao.

99.From the passage, please list two signs used in weather forecasting.
【答案】95.It usually means storms might be coming. 96.幸运的是我们中大多数人只需要简单的看一下智能手机或打开电视就能了解天气情况. 97.Ancient methods used nature signs, while modern methods use scientific instruments for exact and earlier forecasts. 98.Their smells are stronger./They smell strong. 99.(1) If rainbows form in the west at sunrise, the sun is on the way.
(2) The ants are moving to higher ground, this could mean a drop in air pressure.(答案不唯一,合理即可)

100.What does Longjing tea-picking mainly depend on traditionally?

阅读短文,根据要求完成1—5题。
