根据Pompeii部分中的“Buried under volcanic ash for centuries, the ancient city of Pompeii is an extraordinary archaeological (考古的) site. Exploring its remarkably preserved ruins offers a glimpse into daily life during Roman times, making it an incredible historical destination. (被火山灰掩埋了几个世纪的庞贝古城是一个非凡的考古遗址。探索其保存完好的遗迹,可以一瞥罗马时代的日常生活,使其成为一个令人难以置信的历史目的地)”可知,游客在庞贝可以看到保存完好的城市遗址。故选B。 【2题详解】 细节理解题。根据The Colosseum部分中的“Rome’s most famous landmark, the Colosseum, is an ancient stadium that was once used for exciting fights and shows. (罗马最著名的地标是罗马斗兽场,这是一座古老的体育场,曾经用于激动人心的战斗和表演)”可知,罗马斗兽场的特色是进行过惊险战斗的舞台。故选D。 【3题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段“Italy, a country steeped in history and beauty, is home to numerous iconic landmarks that attract millions of visitors each year. Let’s start our journey to discover its most renowned attractions. (意大利是一个充满历史和美丽的国家,拥有众多标志性建筑,每年吸引数百万游客。让我们开始我们的旅程,发现最著名的景点)”可知,文章介绍了四个意大利最著名的景点。由此推知,这篇文章很可能摘自一本旅游小册子。故选B。 B Growing up on a farm, I learned from my parents about the large bees we called mangangava. But in college when I gave a presentation about those bees, I didn’t mention their familiar name; instead I used formal terms when describing their adaptations for pollinating (授粉). I was afraid of being judged for expressing my personal knowledge in a science class. But when the instructor pressed me to tell the class whether I’d seen the bees myself and what I called them, my views and my whole career path began to change. I realized my background was valuable, and that my calling was to help educate others like me. My parents worked on a small farm and I often helped out when I was not in school. They had a close relationship with nature, something they learned from my grandparents and passed down to me. This was why I became interested in biology. In college, I joined a series of labs to gain research experience, but my interest in pursuing a career as a scientist began to wane after I realized my research was not helping poor people like my parents. As a black student from a rural community, I also felt out of place in most classes. The feeling of not belonging circled in my head. I sometimes thought about giving up. My instructor’s request that I share my knowledge of the mangangava bee changed my view. She saw that tapping into my personal experiences would help me grasp the scientific concepts. No other professor bad shown that kind of sensitivity, which helped me realize I did have a place in higher education and that I didn’t need to hide who I truly am. I’m now a master’s student in education, working on a project that explores the connect ion between science and traditional knowledge. I don’t think I’d be here if I hadn’t crossed paths with my instructor. We ne ed more educators and scientists like her people who can serve as role models and know that the best way to nurture new scientists is to allow students to be themselves. 4. What did the author initially think of his background when in college? A. It was of little use for his college studies. B. It motivated him to carry on his research. C. It gave him an advantage over others. D. It was something he wanted to hide. 5. What does the underlined word “wane” in paragraph 3 probably mean? A. remain B. advance C. fade D. rise 6 What should a good educator do according to the author? A. Value students’ personal knowledge and views. B. Inspire students to work as hard as he or she does. C. Treat students from different backgrounds equally. D. Be equipped with rich knowledge of a certain field. 7. What is the main idea of this passage? A. The family is one of the nature’s masterpieces. B. Every man is the architect of his own fortune. C. A good teacher is better than ten thousand books. D. Good habits formed at youth make all the difference. D 5. C 6. A 7. 根据第一段内容“But in college when I gave a presentation about those bees, I didn’t mention their familiar name; instead I used formal terms when describing their adaptations for pollinating(授粉). I was afraid of being judged for expressing my personal knowledge in a science class. (但在大学里,当我做关于这些蜜蜂的演讲时,我没有提到它们熟悉的名字;相反,我在描述它们对授粉的适应时使用了正式的术语。我害怕因为在科学课上表达了我的个人知识而受到评判)”,“ I realized my background was valuable, and that my calling was to help educate others like me.(我意识到我的背景很有价值,我的使命是帮助教育像我这样的人)”和第四段“No other professor bad shown that kind of sensitivity, which helped me realize I did have a place in higher education and that I didn’t need to hide who I truly am.(没有其他坏教授表现出这种敏感性,这让我意识到我在高等教育中确实有一席之地,我不需要隐瞒自己的真实身份)”可知,作者在科学课上作报告时没有用他熟悉的名字,用专业的术语来介绍这种蜜蜂,因为他害怕因为表达个人知识被人评论,后来那次事情之后他意识到他的背景知识是有价值的,作者意识到不必隐藏真正的自己。 根据划线所在的句子“after I realized my research was not helping poor people like my parents(在我意识到我的研究并没有帮助像我父母这样的穷人之后)”以及“The feeling of not belonging circled in my head. I sometimes thought about giving up.(不归属感在我的脑海中盘旋。我有时想过放弃)”可知,当作者意识到自己的研究并没有帮助像父母这样的穷人时,作者对从事科学家职业的兴趣开始减弱。由此推知,划线词wane意为“减退,减弱”。故选C 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“We ne ed more educators and scientists like her people who can serve as role models and know that the best way to nurture new scientists is to allow students to be themselves.(我们需要更多像她这样的教育工作者和科学家,他们可以成为榜样,知道培养新科学家的最好方法是让学生做自己)”可知,作者认为优秀的教育者应该要为学生树立榜样,让学生做自己。 故选A。 根据最后一段“I don’t think I’d be here if I hadn’t crossed paths with my instructor. We ne ed more educators and scientists like her people who can serve as role models and know that the best way to nurture new scientists is to allow students to be themselves.(如果我没有和我的教练相遇,我想我不会在这里。我们需要更多像她这样的教育工作者和科学家,他们可以成为榜样,知道培养新科学家的最好方法是让学生做自己)”及全文可知,文章通过作者从小生活在农场,对一种名叫mangangava蜜蜂很熟悉,在大学做有关与这种蜜蜂的报告时,被导师鼓励用自己的经验来介绍这种蜜蜂而不是书上的内容,导师的鼓励打开了作者科学研究的道路。文章向我们说明了一个道理:一位好老师,胜过万卷书。故选C。 C The conversational tone of an AI chatbot or voice-based assistant is a good way to learn new concepts, but at may actually make us more willing to believe inaccuracies, compared with information presented in a traditional static (静态的) article. To investigate this issue, Sonja Utz from Germany asked 1,200 participants to engage with one of three formats. The first involved text appearing letter by letter in the style of a large model (大模型), similar to ChatGPT; the second provided information through a voice-based device; and the third was a traditional static text document. Participants could not interact with these systems as they would with real chatbots to ensure a consistent experience throughout the study. In some cases, participants were given accurate information, while in others, they saw errors. Some of these errors were plain wrong, such as naming Sofia as the capital of France, but others involved certain statements that were contradicted elsewhere in the same response. Participants were asked to rate the accuracy of the information on a seven-point scale, where 7 is entirely accurate. In the responses where errors were introduced, the information presented in a static format was rated as 4.24 on average. The ChatGPT-like system managed 4.76, while the voice assistant scored 5.29. For responses where no errors were introduced, participants rated all of the systems higher, but the differences were smaller for the voice assistant and chatbot. “People find voice-based devices more convincing because humans seem to give trust naturally to things that seem lifelike,” says Mike Katell from UK. “The way the chatbots and voice devices are programmed to use a friendly and helpful conversational tone also confuses people. Chatbot makers are trying to put users at ease, which is achieved through believable content.” People are aware that these interaction models generate false information sometimes. “But people don’t realize that they make us tend to believe whatever is presented there.” Utz says. “That should be included in media literacy (素养) training.” 8. What was the main focus of Sonja Utz’s study? A. Features of AI chatbots or voice-based assistants. B. People’s preference for information sources. C. Why static articles differ from conversational content. D. How text formats influence information judgement. 9. In paragraph 3, text errors in the study can be summarized as ______. A. unavoidable and contradictory B. minor and common C. obvious and inconsistent D. repetitive and careless 10. According to Mike Katell, which of the following is a reason why people s find voice-based devices more convincing? A. People’s inborn trust in lifelike things. B. The delivery of personalized content. C. The chatbot’s use of a tone of authority. D. The makers’ intention to train users. 11. Which of the following can be inferred from the passage? A. Utz suggests people apply critical thinking to AI responses. B. Voice-based devices provide a source of accurate information. C. People’s preference for lifelike things may be overstated. D. The research results are uncertain due to the lack of interaction. D 9. C 10. A 11. 根据第一段“The conversational tone of an AI chatbot or voice-based assistant is a good way to learn new concepts, but at may actually make us more willing to believe inaccuracies, compared with information presented in a traditional static (静态的) article.(人工智能聊天机器人或基于语音的助手的对话语调是学习新概念的好方法,但与传统静态文章中呈现的信息相比,它实际上可能使我们更愿意相信不准确的信息。)”以及第二段关于Sonja Utz的研究设计“To investigate this issue, Sonja Utz from Germany asked 1,200 participants to engage with one of three formats. The first involved text appearing letter by letter in the style of a large model(大模型), similar to ChatGPT; the second provided information through a voice-based device; and the third was a traditional static text document.(为了调查这一问题,德国的Sonja Utz让1200名参与者接触三种形式中的一种。第一种是类似ChatGPT的大模型风格,文本逐字母显示;第二种通过语音设备提供信息;第三种则是传统的静态文本文档。)”可知,文章开头指出AI聊天机器人或语音助手的对话语气与传统静态文章在让人接受信息方面有差异,接着介绍Sonja Utz的研究,让参与者接触三种不同格式的信息,然后研究参与者对信息准确性的评价。由此推断,研究重点是文本格式如何影响对信息的判断。故选D项。 【9题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“Some of these errors were plain wrong, such as naming Sofia as the capital of France, but others involved certain statements that were contradicted elsewhere in the same response.(其中一些错误是完全错误的,例如将索菲亚命名为法国首都,但其他错误则涉及在同一答复中其他地方相互矛盾的某些陈述。)” 根据倒数第二段中Mike Katell 所说“People find voice-based devices more convincing because humans seem to give trust naturally to things that seem lifelike(人们觉得基于语音的设备更有说服力,因为人们似乎很自然地信任那些看起来栩栩如生的东西。)” 故选A项。 根据最后一段中Utz 说“But people don’t realize that they make us tend to believe whatever is presented there.( 但人们没有意识到,它们让我们倾向于相信那里呈现的东西。)”以及“That should be included in media literacy (素养) training.(这应该包括在媒体素养培训中。)” 故选A项。 D Last fall, I happened to overhear a student telling the others he had decided not to sign up for an introductory philosophy course. The demands of his major, he said seriously, meant he needed to take “practical” courses, and “enlightenment (启蒙)” would simply have to wait. For now, employability was the most important. The students’ conversation fits into a larger alarming narrative about the role of the humanities in higher education. In a time of technological achievement and of scientific innovation, sceptics (怀疑者) of the humanities may question the usefulness of studying Aristotle, the Italian Renaissance or Chinese fiction. Actually I regret not interrupting that student to argue for taking that introductory philosophy course. I would have started by reminding him that, for much of America’s history, college graduates were not considered truly educated unless they had mastered philosophy, literature, political theory and history. The key role of higher education was to invite students into the conversations about matters like what it means to be alive and the definition of justice. Fostering (鼓励) engagement with these subjects is still an essential part of the university’s function in society. I would have also mentioned to the student that he was misinformed about the job market. It is true that many employers are looking for graduates with specialized technical skills, but they also look for other capabilities. As the world is transformed by artificial intelligence, machine learning and automation, the unique human qualities of creativity, imagination and moral reasoning will be the ultimate coin of the realm. All these skills are developed in humanities courses. Further, I would have argued that while a degree in the sciences is an important precondition for many jobs, it is not the only route. Recent studies show that those with humanities degrees are successful in the workplace, experiencing low rates of unemployment and reporting high levels of job satisfaction. The case for the humanities can also be understood as a foundational preparation for a life well lived. A humanities education plays a vital role in encouraging citizens to lead an examined life. It fosters critical thinking, self-reflection, empathy and tolerance, the usefulness of which only becomes more apparent as one navigates (导航) life’s challenges. By all means, students should take courses they think practical and follow their interests, but if they also make a point of studying the literature of the Renaissance, or researching into modern poetry, or even taking introductory philosophy, we will all benefit. 12. What do the students’ conversation show? A. Students feel employment difficult. B. Students think philosophy less important. C. Students find scientific innovation amazing. D. Students consider university courses satisfying. 13. What does the underlined part in Paragraph 4 probably mean? A. Equally applied. B. Highly valued. C. Strictly assessed. D. Greatly improved. 14. The author may agree that humanities ______. A. provide great insights into life B. prepare students for graduation C. discover students’ artistic ability D. raise awareness of social celebrity 15. What can be learned from the passage? A. College education should focus on practical courses. B. Humanities are essential to both individuals and society. C. Technical skills can guarantee successful careers. D. Higher education carries people through difficult times. B 13. B 14. A 15. 根据第一段“Last fall, I happened to overhear a student telling the others he had decided not to sign up for an introductory philosophy course. The demands of his major, he said seriously, meant he needed to take “practical” courses, and “enlightenment (启蒙)” would simply have to wait. For now, employability was the most important.(去年秋天,我偶然听到一个学生对其他人说,他决定不报名参加哲学入门课程。他严肃地说,自己的专业要求意味着他需要学习“实用”课程,而“启蒙”只能暂且搁置。目前来说,就业能力才是最重要的。)”可知,学生们的对话显示出学生认为哲学不那么重要。故选B项。 【13题详解】 词句猜测题。根据划线短语句中“As the world is transformed by artificial intelligence, machine learning and automation, the unique human qualities of creativity, imagination and moral reasoning will be…(随着世界被人工智能、机器学习和自动化所改变,人类独特的创造力、想象力和道德推理能力将成为……。)”以及下一句“All these skills are developed in humanities courses.(所有这些技能都是在人文课程中培养出来的。)” 划线部分“the ultimate coin of the realm”与B选项“Highly valued(很有价值的)相符。故选B项。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段中“It fosters critical thinking, self-reflection, empathy and tolerance, the usefulness of which only becomes more apparent as one navigates (导航) life’s challenges.(它培养了批判性思维、自我反省、同理心和宽容,只有当一个人面对生活的挑战时,这些东西的用处才会变得更加明显。)”可推知,作者可能会同意人文科学提供对生活的深刻见解这一观点。故选A项。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。根据全文内容以及倒数第二段“The case for the humanities can also be understood as a foundational preparation for a life well lived. A humanities education plays a vital role in encouraging citizens to lead an examined life. It fosters critical thinking, self-reflection, empathy and tolerance, the usefulness of which only becomes more apparent as one navigates(导航)life’s challenges.(人文学科的案例也可以被理解为一个良好生活的基础准备。 At any moment, you or someone around you could experience an injury or an illness. With each step, his mind was filled with worry as he racked his brain to find money for his seriously ill son, Andrew, who was in great need of heart surgery. Tom had run out of choices and time. Desperation was beginning to set in, but he refused to let his son suffer helplessly. As he walked, the weight of his troubles pressed heavily on his shoulders. So desperate was he that he even heard a hum in his ears. The next moment the hum was entirely covered by a loud sound. He turned in shock, and what he saw took his breath away. An expensive luxury car was wrapped around a big tree on the other side of the street, with its front twisted and flames starting to spring up from the car. Without a second thought, he ran to the flaming car. He noticed that although the young lady in the driver’s seat did not seem to have been severely injured - apparently because of the open airbag - she was unconscious. Tom saw that the flames began to grow increasingly intense. He realized that he had to get the girl out of the car immediately because there was a high risk of the vehicle exploding at any time. He grabbed the handle and pulled it, but the door was bent and did not open. He used all his strength and tried again, but in vain. It was a sports car, so it had only two doors, and the other one was blocked by the tree. He decided that he had to break the glass to take her out as quickly as possible. He struck it forcefully with his fist but realized that there was no way he could break the thick glass with bare hands, and the flames were getting bigger. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。 Time was running out, and his mind raced madly. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The girl was sad to know Tom’s trouble from the local news. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: Time was running out, and his mind raced madly. In a moment of clarity, Tom remembered the worn-out hammer in his hand. It had been a reliable companion through countless days of labor, and now it was his only hope. With a determined swing, he smashed the hammer against the window, shattering the glass with a loud crash. Carefully, he reached into the vehicle, avoiding the jagged edges, and unbuckled the unconscious young lady. With all his strength, he pulled her out, dragging her a safe distance from the car just as the flames roared fiercely, engulfing the vehicle in a fiery blaze. Soon, Tom’s heroic deed went viral. The girl was sad to know Tom’s trouble from the local news. She learned about his struggle to find money for his son’s heart surgery and felt a deep sense of empathy for his situation. Remembering how he had risked his life to save her, she decided to take action. With her family’s connections and resources, she organized a fundraising campaign to help cover the medical expenses for Andrew’s surgery. As word spread about Tom’s story, the community rallied together, contributing whatever they could. Grateful for the support, Tom felt a renewed sense of hope. The girl, now a friend, visited him in the hospital, bringing not just financial help but also encouragement. Their bond grew stronger, united by the challenges they faced and the lives they had touched. 词汇激活 行为类 ①记得:remember/recall ②决定做某事:decide to do sth/determine to do sth ③帮助:help/assist ④拜访:visit/pay a visit to 情绪类 ①同情:empathy/sympathy ②感激的:grateful/appreciative 点睛】[高分句型1] Carefully, he reached into the vehicle, avoiding the jagged edges, and unbuckled the unconscious young lady.(运用了现在分词作状语) [高分句型2] Their bond grew stronger, united by the challenges they faced and the lives they had touched.(运用了省略了关系词代词的定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2024-2025学年下学期 东北师大附中英语科试卷 高二年级期中考试 注意事项: 1. 1.What does the woman want to have now? A social media comment. B. A travel brochure. C. A historical book. D. An academic paper B Growing up on a farm, I learned from my parents about the large bees we called mangangava. A. remain B. advance C. fade D. rise 6. What should a good educator do according to the author? C The conversational tone of an AI chatbot or voice-based assistant is a good way to learn new concepts, but at may actually make us more willing to believe inaccuracies, compared with information presented in a traditional static (静态的) article. D Last fall, I happened to overhear a student telling the others he had decided not to sign up for an introductory philosophy course. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,共10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 At any moment, you or someone around you could experience an injury or an illness. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
