Liu Jiakun became the second winner from China to win the 2 honor in architecture on March 4th, 2025.
Living in Chengdu, Liu has 3 for 40 years on over 30 projects. He has completed different projects, from small, beautiful museums to 4 business buildings and public spaces.
Instead of sticking to a single building method, Liu 5 to include local culture into his projects and uses “low-tech” method to create beauty.
Liu is most famous for the “rebirth bricks (再生砖)” he 6 after the Wenchuan earthquake. To help with rebuilding, Liu made bricks using those left from fallen 7 . These bricks were later used in several of his projects, including the Shuijingfang Museum and the Novartis Building.
