转折让步关系:but、yet、however、although、instead、though、while、whereas despite等。
并列递进关系:and、or、also、besides、even 、similarly、in the same way、meanwhile、furthermore、moreover等。
因果关系:therefore、thus、as a result、 for this reason 、of course等。
解析、举例关系:for example、for instance、that is to say、in other words、that means等。

Keep your sleep/wake schedule on weekends. If you're tired out by Friday night, sleeping in on Saturday could sound wonderful. But compensating on the weekends actually feeds into your sleepiness the following week, a recent study found. ________
Keep a record and evaluate it weekly. Keep track of your efforts and write down how you feel. After you've tried a new method for a week, take a look at your record ...
A. Get a sleep specialist.
B. Find the right motivation.
C. A better plan for sleep can help.
D. And consider setting a second alarm.
E. If the steps you take are working, keep it up.
F. Stick to your set bedtime and wake-up time, no matter the day.
G. Reconsider the 15 minutes you spend in line at the cafe to get coffee.
Passage 1
(2025年高二下·河北保定·开学考试)It is no secret that social media is harmful to everyone for many reasons: from general internet safety, to causing insecurities or becoming a major distraction. 1 Social media can have a large impact on people’s perspectives, opinions and the way they view the world — especially teenagers.
In recent years, social media creators have done a really effective job of creating algorithms (算法) that can keep track of what you engage with, and provide more content based on your preferences and interests. 2 Exposure to only one perspective in the long run can lead to what are called echo chambers, or situations in which one’s beliefs are constantly supported by the people around them, rather than hearing other opinions.
3 By only being exposed to people who agree with you, you are prevented from considering other perspectives, which perpetuates (使持续) close-minded attitudes. Since social media users are used to seeing content they agree with, the first opinion that they see on a new issue is the one they are most likely to agree with, despite not hearing opposing thoughts. 4
Recently, the term “chronically online takes” has resurfaced on social media. This concept refers to opinions that only seem to exist online, and lack the support of real world experience.
5 In fact, chronically online takes are problematic themselves, successfully weakening actual issues that should be called out.
A.This fails to show respect for your privacy.
B.This ensures that you continue using social media.
C.Usually, it takes the form of calling things problematic.
D.However, the negatives of social media go even deeper than that.
E.The key issue is that people are content with being told what to think.
F.The problem with echo chambers is that they discourage critical thinking.
G.Echo chambers increase social media users’ impatience and kills their creativity.
1.根据前文“It is no secret that social media is harmful to everyone for many reasons: from general internet safety, to causing insecurities or becoming a major distraction.(众所周知,社交媒体对每个人都有害,原因有很多:从一般的互联网安全,到造成不安全感或成为主要的分心因素)”以及后文“Social media can have a large impact on people’s perspectives, opinions and the way they view the world — especially teenagers.(社交媒体对人们的观点、看法以及他们看待世界的方式有着巨大影响,尤其是对青少年而言)”可知,前文讲述社交媒体的坏处,后面进一步讲述坏处,所以D项“However, the negatives of social media go even deeper than that.(然而,社交媒体的负面影响远不止于此)”和前文构成转折关系,并引出后文,符合文意。故选D项。
2.根据前文“In recent years, social media creators have done a really effective job of creating algorithms (算法) that can keep track of what you engage with, and provide more content based on your preferences and interests.(近年来,社交媒体创建者在创建算法方面做了非常有效的工作,这些算法可以跟踪你参与的内容,并根据你的偏好和兴趣提供更多内容)”可知,B项“This ensures that you continue using social media.(这可以确保你继续使用社交媒体)”是讲述前文内容的结果,符合文意。故选B项。
3.设空位于段首,为本段中心句,根据后文“By only being exposed to people who agree with you, you are prevented from considering other perspectives, which perpetuates (使持续) close-minded attitudes.(只接触与你意见一致的人,你就无法考虑其他观点,从而使思想封闭的态度永久化)”以及上文内容“Exposure to only one perspective in the long run can lead to what are called echo chambers, or situations in which one’s beliefs are constantly supported by the people around them, rather than hearing other opinions.(长期只接触一种观点会导致所谓的回音室,或者一个人的信仰不断得到周围人的支持,而不是听到其他观点的情况)”可知,F项“The problem with echo chambers is that they discourage critical thinking.(回音室的问题在于它阻碍了批判性思维)”承接上文,后文是对本句的解释,符合文意。故选F项。
4.设空位于段尾,是对前文的总结,根据前文“Since social media users are used to seeing content they agree with, the first opinion that they see on a new issue is the one they are most likely to agree with, despite not hearing opposing thoughts.(由于社交媒体用户习惯于看到他们同意的内容,他们在新问题上看到的第一个观点就是他们最有可能同意的观点,尽管他们没有听到相反的观点)”可知,E项“The key issue is that people are content with being told what to think.(关键问题是,人们满足于被告知该怎么想)”是对前文的总结,讲述人们没有听到相反的观点,但是很满足。故选E项。
5.设空位于段首,为本段中心句,根据后文“In fact, chronically online takes are problematic themselves, successfully weakening actual issues that should be called out.(事实上,那些经常上网发表的观点本身就有问题,它们成功地弱化了那些本应被指出的实际问题)”可知,C项“Usually, it takes the form of calling things problematic.(通常,这种做法表现为将事物称为“有问题”)”符合本段主题,讲述网上发表的观点有问题。故选C项。
Passage 2
(2025年高二下·江苏南京·开学考试)Success often comes to those who dare to dream and strive for their goals. However, achieving success is not just about hard work and determination; it also involves learning from mistakes and setbacks along the way. The adage “failure is the stepping stone to success” holds true in many cases.
The reality is that failure can indeed be a powerful teacher. 6 Because we naturally dislike failing, learning from our failures becomes emotionally challenging. It’s uncomfortable and can lead us to react defensively, such as by avoiding difficult tasks, convincing ourselves that we don’t care about succeeding, or criticizing the task itself. According to Dr. Jane Miller, a cognitive psychologist, these reactions are protective mechanisms. In her view, most individuals prefer to see themselves as competent and capable.
Fortunately, there are strategies to help us overcome these emotional barriers. 7 Instead of asking, “Why did I fail?” we might ask, “Why did Alex fail?” This technique helps reduce negative emotional responses and allows us to analyze the situation more objectively.
Another effective strategy is to share your experiences with others. 8 By offering advice based on personal failures, individuals can gain deeper insights into their own experiences. Research conducted by Professor Mark Thompson found that this practice enhances motivation and leads to greater academic and professional achievements among both adults and children.
Moreover, reflecting on past failures can inspire new approaches and ideas. 9 As the renowned inventor Thomas Edison once said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” His perspective encourages us to view each setback as an opportunity for growth rather than a defeat.
10 By mastering the skills to navigate through these challenges, we can turn our failures into valuable lessons that pave the way to future success.
A.Everyone needs success
B.Hard work leads to success
C.Failure can be a teachable moment
D.Failure is an unavoidable part of life
E.One of them is to adopt a third-person view
F.Next, offer advice to others in the same position as us
G.So what failure causes is a serious threat to our self-image
6.根据下文内容“Because we naturally dislike failing, learning from our failures becomes emotionally challenging. It’s uncomfortable and can lead us to react defensively, such as by avoiding difficult tasks, convincing ourselves that we don’t care about succeeding, or criticizing the task itself. G“So what failure causes is a serious threat to our self-image (所以失败对我们的自我形象是一个严重威胁)”指出失败对人的不利之处。故选G。
7.根据下文“Instead of asking, “Why did I fail?” we might ask, “Why did Alex fail?” This technique helps reduce negative emotional responses and allows us to analyze the situation more objectively.(我们可以问“为什么亚历克斯失败了?”,而不是问 “为什么我失败了?”。 E“One of them is to adopt a third-person view(其中一个方法是采用第三人称视角)”与下文内容相符。故选E。
8.根据空前内容“Another effective strategy is to share your experiences with others.(另一个有效的策略是与他人分享你的经历。)” F“Next, offer advice to others in the same position as us(接下来,给和我们处于相同处境的人提供建议)”进一步阐述了与他人分享经验后,给相同处境的人提建议这一做法,符合语境。故选F。
9.根据下文“As the renowned inventor Thomas Edison once said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” His perspective encourages us to view each setback as an opportunity for growth rather than a defeat.(正如著名发明家Thomas Edison曾经说过的:“我并没有失败。 C“Failure can be a teachable moment(失败可以是一个可教时刻)”指出,失败可以是一个我们从中学习的时刻。
10.根据下文“By mastering the skills to navigate through these challenges, we can turn our failures into valuable lessons that pave the way to future success.(通过掌握应对这些挑战的技能,我们可以将失败转化为宝贵的经验教训,为未来的成功铺平道路。)” D“Failure is an unavoidable part of life(失败是生活中不可避免的一部分。)”
Passage 3
(2025年高二下·浙江温州·开学考试)At some point, everyone has faced unkind remarks or actions. Whether it’s teasing from classmates or harsh words from peers, dealing with such situations can be challenging. 11 Here are some tips to help you respond effectively and build your confidence.
Practice comebacks. Quick, confident replies - known as comebacks - can stop bullies in their tracks. Instead of waiting for the perfect moment, try practicing. Ask a friend or a sympathetic adult to role-play with you. If you don’t feel comfortable with this, you can try it on your own in the mirror. Notice which style of comeback feels most natural to you. For example, if humor doesn’t feel natural, a calm response like “Are you finished?” may be more effective. 12
Learn a little about your bully. Bullies are usually very socially intelligent and great people-readers. They can easily see which comments get under people’s skin. You can benefit from building up this same skill, but using it for defense instead of for aggression (like the bully). Watch the bully’s reaction when you deliver your comeback and the reaction of others around him. Did he respond with surprise or walk away? 13 Watch for patterns and make note of what worked and what didn’t.
14 Sometimes comebacks can lead to more insults and even violence. Keep an eye out for signs that the person is becoming aggressive. The person may touch his head or face and clench (握紧) his fists. The person may remove an article of clothing, and may crouch down slightly. In addition, the person may turn his non-dominant side toward you; so, a left-handed person may turn his right side toward you. If you notice any of these behaviors, do not try to make a comeback and back away from the person.
Get help. If someone is bullying you regularly, get help from a teacher or a parent. 15 If you can’t solve the problem informally, get someone in a position of authority involved. You shouldn’t have to deal with constant insults from a bully in any situation.
A.Come up with safety ideas.
B.Watch for physical signals of violence.
C.Then the comeback style used was successful.
D.Bullies are less likely to pick on you if you aren’t alone.
E.You can also get in a lot of trouble for using these kinds of insults.
F.While ignoring them sometimes works, a more active approach is often needed.
G.Use what works best for you until you can practice and use the other methods effectively.
11.上文“At some point, everyone has faced unkind remarks or actions. Whether it’s teasing from classmates or harsh words from peers, dealing with such situations can be challenging. 指出人们会遇到不友善情况且应对有挑战,F选项“While ignoring them sometimes works, a more active approach is often needed.
12.上文“Notice which style of comeback feels most natural to you. For example, if humor doesn’t feel natural, a calm response like ‘Are you finished?’ may be more effective. 强调要找到适合自己的回应方式,G选项“Use what works best for you until you can practice and use the other methods effectively.
13.上文“Watch the bully’s reaction when you deliver your comeback and the reaction of others around him. Did he respond with surprise or walk away? 提出要观察欺负者的反应,C选项“Then the comeback style used was successful.
14.下文“Sometimes comebacks can lead to more insults and even violence. Keep an eye out for signs that the person is becoming aggressive. 主要围绕留意暴力的身体信号展开,B选项“Watch for physical signals of violence.
15.上文“If someone is bullying you regularly, get help from a teacher or a parent .(如果有人经常欺负你,向老师或家长寻求帮助。)”建议向他人寻求帮助,D选项“Bullies are less likely to pick on you if you aren’t alone.
Passage 4
(2025年高二下·安徽·开学考试)These days, it’s not unusual to see adult taking an interest in toys, comic books and the activities that are traditionally associated with children. This phenomenon has given rise to a new word: kidult.
16 One is about adults’ nostalgia (怀旧之情) for the carefree days of childhood, and this is especially true with today’s fast-paced, stressful lifestyles. Another is about a societal change in recent decades where people are starting families later. 17 Some adults could only window-shop for their dream toys when they were kids, but now they can afford that radio controlled car or high-priced doll they have always wanted.
Businesses have been quick to exploit (利用) the kidult trend, and the number of toy stores that target adults has risen. Companies are repackaging products from past decades and also bringing out new ones for adults. 18
Society traditionally disapproves of adults who refuse to put aside childhood interests, 19 Those who agree with this view sometimes claim that kidults are suffering from the pop-psychology concept known as Peter Pan Syndrome, an anomaly (异常) that people remain emotionally at the level of teenagers.
From the standpoint of kidults, though, this phenomenon is seen as nothing but harmless fun. Kidults insist that having youthful interests keeps them young, happy and creative. 20 The real causes include expensive housing, increased educational requirements for employment and poor work opportunities.
Whether the kidult phenomenon will continue to grow or prove to be a passing trend is anyone’s guess. As the debate about it continues, remember that there is nothing wrong with being young at heart.
A.What lies behind the phenomenon?
B.There are two types of this social trend.
C.viewing the refusal as social immaturity and irresponsibility.
D.As a result, they have more time and money to spend on themselves.
E.and their refusal to follow society’s acceptable tastes shows independent thinking.
F.Besides, they argue that being part of this social trend is not purely a personal choice.
G.Lego, for example, has brought out an architectural series featuring worldwide landmarks.
【答案】16.A 17.D 18.G 19.C 20.F
16.根据第一段“These days, it’s not unusual to see adult taking an interest in toys, comic books and the activities that are traditionally associated with children. This phenomenon has given rise to a new word: kidult.( 如今,成年人对玩具、漫画书和传统上与儿童有关的活动感兴趣并不罕见。 和下文“One is about adults’ nostalgia (怀旧之情) for the carefree days of childhood, and this is especially true with today’s fast-paced, stressful lifestyles. Another is about a societal change in recent decades where people are starting families later.( 一个是关于成年人对无忧无虑的童年的怀念,尤其是在今天快节奏、紧张的生活方式下。 故选A。
17.根据前文“Another is about a societal change in recent decades where people are starting families later.( 另一个是关于近几十年来的社会变化,人们开始晚婚。)”和下文“Some adults could only window-shop for their dream toys when they were kids, but now they can afford that radio controlled car or high-priced doll they have always wanted.(有些成年人小时候只能在橱窗里买他们梦寐以求的玩具,但现在他们可以买得起他们一直想要的遥控汽车或高价娃娃。)” 。故选D。
18.本句对前一句“Companies are repackaging products from past decades and also bringing out new ones for adults.(公司正在重新包装过去几十年的产品,并为成年人推出新的产品)”公司重新包装过去的玩具并同时开发给成年人的新玩具解释说明。
20.根据前文“From the standpoint of kidults, though, this phenomenon is seen as nothing but harmless fun. Kidults insist that having youthful interests keeps them young, happy and creative.(然而,从kidults的角度来看,这种现象只不过是无害的娱乐。 和下文“The real causes include expensive housing, increased educational requirements for employment and poor work opportunities.(真正的原因包括昂贵的住房、更高的就业教育要求和糟糕的工作机会。)”
Passage 5
To get the most out of literary works, one must approach them with intention and skill. Here are five key strategies to enhance your reading experience.
Engage with the text. Engagement is crucial when reading literature. 21 . Ask questions as you read: Why did the character do that? What does this scene symbolize? What might the author be trying to say? This active engagement helps you to think critically and to immerse (沉浸在) yourself in the literary world.
Understand the historical and cultural context. 22 . It reflects the culture in which it was written. By researching the historical period, the author’s life, and the social norms (规范) of the time, you can gain a deeper understanding of the text.
23 . Literature is an art form that uses language in creative and often complex ways. Pay attention to the author’s use of literary devices such as imagery, symbolism, metaphor, and irony. Knowing these techniques can reveal hidden layers of meaning and give you a greater appreciation of the author’s craft.
Reflect on themes and personal relevance. Great literature often deals with themes that are universal and timeless. Reflect on the themes you encounter in the text and consider how they relate to your own experiences and beliefs. 24 . Besides, it can offer insights into both the literature and your own life.
Discuss and share insights. Literature is meant to be shared and discussed. Conversations with others can enhance your understanding and enjoyment of a text. Join a book club, participate in online forums, or simply discuss the book with friends or classmates. These discussions can provide you with new perspectives (观点). 25
A.Think of words in the book
B.Analyze literary techniques
C.Every piece of literature is a product of its time
D.They can lessen your appreciation of the literature
E.Interacting with others will lead you about the book
F.This personal connection can make reading more meaningful
G.This means actively interacting with the text, not just reading the words
21.根据前文“Engage with the text. Engagement is crucial when reading literature. 在阅读文学作品时,投入是至关重要的)”可知,本段的主题是讲述与文本互动,所以G项“This means actively interacting with the text, not just reading the words (这意味着积极地与文本互动,而不仅仅是阅读单词)”是对前句的进一步解释,而后文“Ask questions as you read: Why did the character do that? What does this scene symbolize? What might the author be trying to say? This active engagement helps you to think critically and to immerse (沉浸在) yourself in the literary world.
22.根据前文“Understand the historical and cultural context. (了解历史和文化背景)”以及后文“It reflects the culture in which it was written. By researching the historical period, the author’s life, and the social norms (规范) of the time, you can gain a deeper understanding of the text.
23.设空处位于段首,为本段中心句,根据后文“Literature is an art form that uses language in creative and often complex ways. Pay attention to the author’s use of literary devices such as imagery, symbolism, metaphor, and irony. Knowing these techniques can reveal hidden layers of meaning and give you a greater appreciation of the author’s craft.
24.根据前文“Reflect on themes and personal relevance. Great literature often deals with themes that are universal and timeless. Reflect on the themes you encounter in the text and consider how they relate to your own experiences and beliefs.

Passage 6
(2025年高二上·江西宜春·阶段练习)Some children love reading, some dislike it, and many are in between. Most children and adults are drawn to reading materials that are engaging and understandable. 26 So building reading abilities is always a good idea. As a parent, you can help your child develop reading skills with enjoyable activities, some of which you might not have thought of as reading enrichment. Here are some easy reading strategies for parents to use at home.
27 When your child creates a story out loud or in written form, you can prompt more specific vocabulary and encourage your child to dive into descriptive details. This activity provides practice for thinking through logical sequences (顺序) and may motivate curiosity as a child looks for books in similar settings.
Compare books to films. 28 If yes, talk about the similarities and differences between the two mediums. What did you each like or dislike about each form? Did your child prefer the book or the movie, and why?
Encourage curiosity about vocabulary. As your child reads books, suggest that you look up difficult or unfamiliar words in the dictionary together. 29 This builds the skill of inference (推理), which is thinking through the possible answers based on the context.
Strengthen spelling skills. If you are making flashcards with difficult words, have your child practice spelling the words out loud or on paper. Give your child the opportunity to double-check spelling and find mistakes independently. This is a great strategy to use throughout the year. 30
A.Create literature with your child.
B.Help your child to make up better stories.
C.Compare how they are similar and how they are different.
D.But your child will eventually have to read uninteresting or complicated materials.
E.Have your child read a book and then check out the video version of the book?

Passage 7
During your teenage years, your body goes through many changes, and you may or may not like how your body develops. You start forming an image of your body. 31
You can develop either a positive or negative body image, depending on your mindset.
One of the major contributors of a negative body image is peer pressure. Even if you do not think you are being bullied by your group of friends, you may be laughed at casually about your appearance or you may simply notice that they seem more “perfect” than you. This can have a negative impact on your body image. 32 Often, an ideal body type is promoted heavily on social networks. Culture may also have a negative impact on one’s body image. If your culture values a particular body image, then that would make you unhappy if you don’t match it.
A negative body image increases the risk of unhealthy behaviors like extreme dieting, overeating, over exercising, isolation, and risky surgeries. It also lowers life satisfaction and can lead to unhappiness. 33
To have a more positive body image, first accept that we are all unique individuals. Imagine if everyone looked the same, the world would be a boring place. 34 Beauty standards keep changing all the time. What’s more, models and celebrities you see in the media may look “perfect” for the era, but, in fact, much of it is due to makeup, angles and lighting and Photoshop!
35 Avoid commenting on others’ looks, and you will stop criticizing yourself too. If you have peers who constantly comment about your appearance, it might be time to re-evaluate the company you keep.
Remember, your body image is simply YOUR perception (感知) of your body. This means YOU have the power to change this, even if you do not have the ability to change the perception of others.
A.Your body image is influenced by many factors.
B.Another major factor is what is shown in the media.
C.It is simply how you see, think and feel about yourself.
D.More importantly, there is no such thing as a perfect body.
E.In general, the key to a positive body image is self-acceptance.
F.Also, instead of focusing on appearances, learn to value people for who they really are.

Passage 9
(2025年高二下·湖北·开学考试)Solitude (独处) gets a bad name because it’s often equated with loneliness. Loneliness involves being isolated (孤立的) despite wanting social connections, whereas being alone means taking time for yourself between regular social interactions. 41 . You can also be alone without having feelings of loneliness.
While there are downsides to loneliness, research has found real benefits of doing things alone. Here are several to consider.Improve concentration and memory
When you are working in a group, you might use less effort to memorize information. 42 . Working on things alone can help you focus your attention, which can improve your memory. In one study, researchers found that groups working collaboratively (合作地) to recall information performed worse than individuals recalling things on their own.
43
Spending time alone gives you time to focus on your interests. When you are surrounded by others, you might set your own ideas and passions aside to satisfy the needs of your friends and family. Taking time on your own gives you the opportunity to make creative choices and focus your attention without worrying about what other people are thinking.Boost creativity
Collaborative brainstorming is often seen as one of the best ways to generate new ideas. 44 . While group efforts are often about achieving consensus (共识) and fitting in with the crowd, working alone encourages innovation without added social pressure.Make you more sympathetic
A certain amount of alone time can help you have greater sympathy for the people around you. However, truly spending time alone isn’t always easy, especially with tech transforming alone time. If you are not able to be completely by yourself, cutting back on digital communication for a brief time might be helpful. 45 .

Passage 14
Medicine is a degree that consists of an endless number of exams, and recently I received my first year results. Waiting for those results was one of the most anxiety-generating experiences.
66 Failure brings judgement from others, a topic of discussion for people and the right for others to say you are not capable. The stress associated with failure is created by others around you, rather than by the event itself.
I have recently been reading The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel, which clarifies that failure has a strong presence among those who have achieved success. People will always focus on Warren Buffett’s success as an investor. 67
The process of achieving success has often involved setbacks and “failures” along the way. I was rejected by medical schools which I’d spent time and effort applying to and preparing for. And I once received a “pass” grade on an important research paper during my master’s, which put my final grade in a dangerous situation. 68 I also began pursuing my doctoral degree last year.
69 But you should know that with each failure you are closer to success, building further layers to the foundations you started. Behind every successful person are more obstacles and setbacks, but these are not as interesting to focus on or as enviable.
The noise around you, whether it is from coworkers, friends or parents, should not shake your belief in your abilities. 70 Learn what you need and correct your approach until you have success.
A.You are guaranteed a lifetime of success.
B.Failure is your platform to achieve success.
C.I was turned down by countless graduate schemes.
D.You may not be successful the first, second or however many times.
E.Upon reflection I believe that this is partly as a result of failure itself.
F.Despite all of this, I ended up getting my master’s with honors.
G.However, rarely will they see how many times his investments have failed.
66.根据上文“Waiting for those results was one of the most anxiety-generating experiences.(等待这些结果是最让人焦虑的经历之一。)”和下文“Failure brings judgement from others, a topic of discussion for people and the right for others to say you are not capable.(失败带来了别人的评判,成为人们讨论的话题,也给了别人说你无能的权利。)” E“Upon reflection I believe that this is partly as a result of failure itself.(经过反思,我认为这部分是失败本身的结果。)”
67.上文提到“failure has a strong presence among those who have achieved success(在那些取得成功的人中间,失败是无处不在的)”,故可推知本段主要在讲那些获得成功的人往往都经历过失败。 G“However, rarely will they see how many times his investments have failed.(然而,他们很少会看到他的投资失败了多少次。)”
68.上文“I was rejected by medical schools which I’d spent time and effort applying to and preparing for. And I once received a “pass” grade on an important research paper during my master’s, which put my final grade in a dangerous situation.(我花了很多时间和精力申请和准备的医学院拒绝了我。 提到作者曾经的失败经历,下文“I also began pursuing my doctoral degree last year.(去年我也开始攻读博士学位。)” F“Despite all of this, I ended up getting my master’s with honors.(尽管如此,我还是以优异的成绩获得了硕士学位。)”
69.空后说“But you should know that with each failure you are closer to success, building further layers to the foundations you started.(但你应该知道,每一次失败都让你离成功更近了一步,在你开始的基础上建立起更深的层次。)”,说明人会可能会失败很多次,D选项“You may not be successful the first, second or however many times.(你可能第一次、第二次或很多次都不会成功。)”
70.根据下文“Learn what you need and correct your approach until you have success.(了解你需要什么,并纠正你的方法,直到你成功。)” 故B项“Failure is your platform to achieve success.(失败是你取得成功的平台。)”
Passage 15
With our already busy lives, finding time to exercise can feel like one more thing on our ‘to do’ list. 71 The answer is ‘yes’, but it’s easier than you think-no matter who you are, or when you like to work out.
72 Many of us have more free time in the morning compared to later in the day, and it may therefore be easier for us to stick to a morning workout routine. A 2010 study conducted by the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports found that participants who exercised in the morning, increased their physical activity throughout the day, were less distracted by food, and slept better. Exercising on an empty stomach before breakfast could burn more fat and increase metabolism (新陈代谢) too.
So, good news for early birds, but what if you’re not a morning person? Working out in the afternoon or evening also has benefits, just different ones. 73 Also, in the afternoon and evening, your reaction time is quickest, and your heart rate and blood pressure are lowest, which reduce your chance of injury while improving performance.
But does any of this change depend on whether you’re a man or a woman? Our bodies are different, after all, so the best time to exercise may be different. A 2022 study from Skidmore College, New York, looked at exactly this question and the results showed that there are some differences. 74 Exercise in the morning. Want to improve your heart health and you’re a man? Evening is better for you. But, ultimately, the study found that there are clear benefits for both sexes to exercising at either time of day.
So what time is best? 75 .
A.So does your amount of exercise count?
B.Want to lose weight and be more charming?
C.There are clear benefits to exercising in the morning.
D.It seems the answer is: whatever time is best for you!
E.Want to reduce your blood pressure and you’re a woman?
F.For example, your body’s ability to perform peaks in the afternoon.
G.So could exercising at certain times help maximize our fitness goals?
71.上文“With our already busy lives, finding time to exercise can feel like one more thing on our ‘to do’ list.
72.下文“A 2010 study conducted by the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports found that participants who exercised in the morning, increased their physical activity throughout the day, were less distracted by food, and slept better. Exercising on an empty stomach before breakfast could burn more fat and increase metabolism (新陈代谢)too.
73.上文“Working out in the afternoon or evening also has benefits, just different ones.
74.下文“Exercise in the morning. 提到了早晨锻炼,继续说“Want to improve your heart health and you’re a man? Evening is better for you.
75.上文“So what time is best?

Passage 18
(2025年高二下·浙江·开学考试)The shape of Australia’s school system is undergoing a significant change. Enrollments(入学人数) in independent schools are growing, while fewer students are going to public schools. Why are more families choosing an independent school, when they could send their children to a free public option? 86
One reason may be policy changes that allowed the establishment of new independent schools in Australia. In the 1990s, the Howard government changed a policy to allow funding for the establishment of new schools, even in areas that already had adequate capacity in existing schools.
New independent schools tend to charge lower fees than established elite schools. 87 According to Independent Schools Australia, the largest growth in enrollments is in schools charging fees of around A$5,0 00 per year.
88 New South Wales Education Minister Prue Car has spoken about this issue for her own son, who attends an independent primary school: “We were in one of the suburbs where the government didn’t build a school.”
Compared to other countries, Australian schools have a high level of “socioeconomic segregation(社会经济隔离)”. 89 The increase in students going to fee-paying private schools means we are seeing increasing segregation in our school system.
Public schools continue to educate the majority of children in remote locations. 90 Independent schools enroll increasing proportions of students from the most advantaged socioeconomic backgrounds.
A.What account for this shift?
B.How should we deal with this shift?
C.They are those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
D.That makes them more accessible to middle-income families.
E.Parents will naturally choose what they perceive to be the best school.
F.This means different types of schools have students from different backgrounds.
G.In some cases, state governments are slow to build new public schools in suburbs.
【答案】86.A 87.D 88.G 89.F 90.C
86.根据空前“Why are more families choosing an independent school, when they could send their children to a free public option?(为什么更多的家庭选择独立学校,而不是免费的公立学校呢?)”和空后“One reason may be policy changes that allowed the establishment of new independent schools in Australia.(一个原因可能是政策的变化,允许在澳大利亚建立新的独立学校。)”
87.根据空前“New independent schools tend to charge lower fees than established elite schools.(新的独立学校往往比老牌精英学校的收费更低。)”
88.根据空后“New South Wales Education Minister Prue Car has spoken about this issue for her own son, who attends an independent primary school: “We were in one of the suburbs where the government didn’t build a school.”(新南威尔士州教育部长Prue Car曾谈到她儿子的这个问题,他就读于一所独立的小学:“我们住在一个政府没有建学校的郊区。”)”
89.根据空前“Compared to other countries, Australian schools have a high level of “socioeconomic segregation(社会经济隔离)”.(与其他国家相比,澳大利亚的学校具有较高的社会经济隔离水平。)”和空后“The increase in students going to fee-paying private schools means we are seeing increasing segregation in our school system.(去付费私立学校的学生人数的增加意味着我们的学校系统中的隔离现象越来越严重。)”
90.根据空前“Public schools continue to educate the majority of children in remote locations.(公立学校继续教育偏远地区的大多数儿童。)” 符合,C项中的“They”指代前文的“the majority of children in remote locations”,公立学校教育的是偏远地区的儿童,他们都是背景不太优越的孩子,故选C项。

Passage 5

Literature is meant to be shared and discussed. Conversations with others can enhance your understanding and enjoyment of a text. Join a book club, participate in online forums, or simply discuss the book with friends or classmates. These discussions can provide you with new perspectives (观点).
