Each word is different and special. In my mind, words pile up like big hills—sentences, jokes, and songs. When I was a baby, I started to love words. To me, they were like sweet drinks, full of meaning and fun. Words helped me understand what I was thinking and feeling. My parents always talked to me. They sang, whispered, and told me stories. I remembered every word they said. I don’t know how I learned to understand words, but it happened quickly. By the time I was two, my mind was full of words, and I knew what they meant. But I never said a word. Now I’m almost eleven. When I was little, Dad read to me every night. He would say, “Baby Melody, let’s read a book together.” Even when he was tired, he’d smile and read books like Where the Wild Things Are. I knew all the words by heart. But I never spoke a word. I think I have a photographic memory. It is like a camera—when I see or hear something, I remember it forever (永远). But nobody knows this, not even my mom. She knows I’m smart, but she doesn’t know how much I remember. It drives me crazy. One time, when I was four, I saw a toy on TV that was unsafe for kids. Later, when I saw it at the store with Mom, I tried to tell her, but I couldn’t talk. I screamed and pointed, but she thought I just wanted the toy. She got angry, and I cried. Things like that always happen—I just cannot express (表达) myself! ( — Adapted from Out of My Mind) 14.What did Melody’s dad do with her every evening when she was little? A.He read books to her. B.He helped her to write. C.He taught her to speak. D.He watched TV with her. 15.Why does Melody think she has a photographic memory? A.She can speak clearly and remember long numbers. B.She likes to take pictures everywhere with her camera. C.She remembers things forever if she sees or hears them. D.Her mother once told her that she had the special ability. 16.What did Melody try to tell her mom when she saw a toy in a store? A.The toy sold there was expensive. B.The toy was unsafe for children. C.She didn’t like the children’s toy. D.She wanted to play with the toy. 17.What can we know about Melody’s problems from the passage? A.She doesn’t want to speak. B.She is unable to speak clearly. C.She cannot understand others. D.She cannot remember the words. 根据“When I was little, Dad read to me every night.” 故选A。 15. 根据“I think I have a photographic memory. It is like a camera—when I see or hear something, I remember it forever (永远).” 根据“One time, when I was four, I saw a toy on TV that was unsafe for kids. Think again! When you look into the sky at night, the stars may appear to stay in place. But stars are always on the move – they’re just so far away that the motion (运动) is hard to see. But some stars move in ways that appear too strange to be real. In 2005, astronomer (天文学家) Warren Brown found one of these strange things. It was located on the outer edge of the Milky Way, the galaxy (星系) we live in. The star was speeding away like nothing he’d ever seen. “It seemed strange. No star in the galaxy has a speed like that,” Brown remembers. “I thought, oh my goodness, I have something kind of special here.” No one had ever seen a star like this one. What does a scientist do when the results don't make sense? Brown didn’t give up. Instead, he kept looking. And he kept finding more of these strange and speedy stars, called hyper velocity stars. “Hyper” means “above” and “velocity” has to do with speed. He and his team just found six more of these “above speed” stars, bringing the total to 16.And he says, he’s found even more, and is just waiting for the scientific community to confirm them. 18.In 2005, astronomer Warren Brown found ________. A.a star was speeding away very fast B.a star was moving away very slowly C.some stars were not real D.some stars were not in the Milky Way 19.Which of the following is TRUE ? A.Stars never move at all. B.No stars in the galaxy have a fast speed. C.It’s hard to see the stars moving. D.Brown has never seen something special. 20.The underlined word “hyper velocity” in the last paragraph probably means “________”. A.匀速的 B.超速的 C.超重的 D.超常的 21.The writer writes this passage to tell us ________. A.something about an astronomer B.where the Milky Way is C.something about the speedy stars D.how scientists do their research 【答案】18.A 19.C 20.B 21.C 【导语】本文介绍了天文学家Warren Brown于2005年发现的“超速”星星。文章讲述了这些星星以极快的速度离开银河系,Brown为此感到非常惊讶,并且继续寻找类似的星星,最终发现了16颗这样的星星。文章通过Brown的发现,展示了天文学家是如何通过观察星星的运动来拓展我们对宇宙的认识。 18.细节理解题。根据“In 2005, astronomer (天文学家) Warren Brown found one of these strange things.”和“The star was speeding away like nothing he’d ever seen.”可以推断出Brown发现的是一颗极快远离银河系的星星。故选A。 19.细节理解题。根据“the stars may appear to stay in place. But stars are always on the move – they’re just so far away that the motion (运动) is hard to see.”可知,虽然星星看起来没有移动,但由于它们离我们很远,运动是难以察觉的。故选C。 20.词义猜测题。根据“‘Hyper’ means ‘above’ and ‘velocity’ has to do with speed.”可以推断,“hyper velocity”指的是超速的意思,因此这里的“hyper velocity”意思为“超速的”。故选B。 21.推理判断题。文章主要讲述了天文学家Warren Brown关于超速星星的发现及相关研究。因此,作者写这篇文章是为了告诉我们关于这些快速移动的恒星的事。故选C。 D The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is an area in the ocean which has a huge floating collection of plastic waste. It is located in the North Pacific Ocean. According to some reports, it is around 1.6 million square kilometers in size. This is so big that it now covers an area of the ocean similar to six times the size of the United Kingdom. Most of the plastic is not large items like bottles or boards. A large percentage of the debris (碎片) is made up of “microplastics” (smaller than 5 millimeters). These microplastics are the tiny pieces of larger items that have been worn down over time. This can be caused by the sun, the waves and even by sea creatures (生物). Items do not just stay floating on the water. Different types of plastics can float just below the water or even much lower down into the ocean. Larger items include fishing ropes and nets that have been lost or dropped at sea. The largest attempt (尝试) in history is now being made to understand and deal with the problem. Scientists have been counting, weighing and separating every tiny item of plastic collected. Larger items are easier to remove from the ocean than the tiny microplastics. However, if these larger items are not removed, they may break down into smaller pieces. This means it can stay in the environment for hundreds of years, so every piece of plastic ever produced is still there today. It is also a danger to fish, birds and other sea life because creatures mistake tiny plastics for food. The tiny microplastics take in pollutants which make them poisonous (有毒的) to sea life. Some larger plastics can also hurt creatures. The nets floating in the ocean are known to catch sea life and make it impossible for them to get away. Fish, sea turtles and dolphins are among the creatures in great danger from these “ghost nets”. Of course, the best solution of all is for us to try to reduce the plastic entering the oceans first. If we want to create less waste to reuse and recycle, then we can reduce the number of new plastics adding to this and other garbage patches. 22.The writer talked about the size of the garbage patch in Paragraph 1 to ________. A.show how serious the problem is B.guess where plastic waste can be found C.explain how big the UK’s area is D.discuss how the garbage patch formed 23.The following sentence would be best placed at the beginning of ________. Plastic is cheap and quite easy to make, however, it is very long-lasting. A.Paragraph 2 B.Paragraph 3 C.Paragraph 4 D.Paragraph 5 24.What can we learn about microplastics? A.They are from the sea. B.They are easier to clean up. C.They are the food to the birds. D.They are formed over time. 25.Why is plastic harmful to sea creatures? A.Because larger plastics take their living area in the ocean. B.Because different types of plastics can get down into the ocean. C.Because people try to create less waste by reusing and recycling. D.Because sea creatures may die as they eat polluted microplastics. 【答案】22.A 23.C 24.D 25.D 【导语】本文简要介绍了太平洋垃圾带形成的原因——微塑料。作者向读者介绍了微塑料的危害,号召大家少向海洋扔塑料垃圾。 22.主旨大意题。根据第一段“This is so big that it now covers an area of the ocean similar to six times the size of the United Kingdom.”可知,作者在第一段中谈到了垃圾带的大小,以表明这个问题的严重性。故选A。 23.推理判断题。根据第四段“This means it can stay in the environment for hundreds of years, so every piece of plastic ever produced is still there today.”可知第四段提到塑料是可以在环境中停留数百年,强调了它的耐用持久性,所以该句可以置于第四段开头。故选C。 24.细节理解题。根据第二段“These microplastics are the tiny pieces of larger items that have been worn down over time.”可知,微塑料是随着时间的推移而形成的。故选D。 25.细节理解题。根据第四段“It is also a danger to fish, birds and other sea life because creatures mistake tiny plastics for food. The tiny microplastics take in pollutants which make them poisonous to sea life.”可知,塑料对海洋生物有害是因为海洋生物吃了被污染的微塑料可能会死亡。故选D。 第三部分 信息还原(共5小题:每小题1分,满分5分) 请认真阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Sometimes you might feel it impossible to get on well with your parents. All these show that we are becoming much more confident in 53 (we) own culture. 【答案】 44.was seen 45.about 46.wearing 47.proudly 48.have paid 49.when 50.companies 51.The 52.to introduce 53.our 【导语】本文主要介绍了中国传统服饰马面裙的历史、文化意义及其在现代的流行情况。 44.句意:这种裙子在宋代开始出现,在明清时期经常被看到。根据时间状语“in the Ming and Qing”可知,时态需要用一般过去时,且主语“the skirt”和see之间是动宾关系,所以应用一般过去时的被动语态(was/were done),主语是单数名词,所以be动词用was。故填was seen。 45.句意:许多汉服爱好者开始介绍关于这种裙子的知识。根据“introduce the knowledge... the skirt”可知,是介绍关于这种裙子的知识,介词“about”表示“关于”。故填about。 46.句意:对我们来说,穿这种裙子不仅仅是为了时尚。空处在句中作主语,所以用动名词,故填wearing。 47.句意:毛自豪地说。空处修饰动词“said”,所以用proud的副词,故填proudly。 48.句意:最近,人们更加关注这种裙子。根据时间状语“Recently”可知,时态用现在完成时(have/has done),主语是复数名词,所以助动词用have, pay要变成过去分词paid。故填have paid。 49.句意:在过去的春节期间,许多年轻人在旅行时穿着这种裙子。根据“lots of young people wore the skirt ...they went on trips.”可知,应是指在旅行时穿这种裙子,when“当……时”引导时间状语从句,故填when。 50.句意:中国服装公司已经收到了很多来自国外的订单。根据have可知,主语应用名词company的复数形式,故填companies。 51.句意:这份报告研究了这种裙子在外国TikTok用户中的受欢迎程度。根据上文的“A report ”可知,此处是特指这份报告,所以用定冠词the,句首单词首字母要大写。故填The。 52.句意:这也是介绍中国文化的好方法。空处作后置定语修饰名词way,所以用动词不定式,故填to introduce。 53.句意:所有这些都表明我们对自己的文化变得更加自信。空处作定语修饰名词“culture”,所以用we的形容词性物主代词our。故填our。 第六部分 阅读表达(共3小题;54题2分,55题2分,56题3分,满分7分) 请认真阅读下面短文,用英语回答短文后的问题,并将答案写在答题卡标有题号的横线上。 Learning the language of a country isn’t enough. If you want a great visit, find out as much as possible about the manners and customs of the country you are visiting. People in India think it impolite to use the left hand to pass food at table. The left hand is used for washing yourself. Also in India, you might see a man shake his head at another to show that he doesn’t agree. However, in many parts of India shaking the head means “yes”. In Bulgaria, you shake your head to mean “yes” and nod to mean “no”. At a meal in countries on the Arabic Peninsula (阿拉伯半岛), you will find that your glass is full again as soon as you drink up . If you think that you have had enough, you can put your hand over the top. In Europe it’s quite usual to cross your legs when you are sitting and talking to someone even at an important meeting. Doing this in Thailand, however, could bring trouble. Also, you should try not to touch the head of an adult (成人)—it’s just not good in Thailand. 54.How will you show others that you don’t agree in Bulgaria after reading the passage? 55.What does the writer want to tell us through the passage? 56.Do you think it necessary to learn about the customs of a foreign country before we visit it?  Why or Why not? 【答案】54.I will nod to mean “no”. 55.The writer wants to tell us the customs and manners of different countries. 56.Yes. Because knowing their customs can help us avoid impoliteness. (开放性试题,回答合理即可) 【导语】本文介绍了不同国家的风俗和礼仪习惯,强调了在访问一个国家之前了解其文化的重要性。 54.根据文章“In Bulgaria, you shake your head to mean ‘yes’ and nod to mean ‘no’.”可知,在保加利亚,点头表示“不”。故填I will nod to mean “no”. 55.文章介绍了不同国家的风俗习惯,强调学习当地文化的重要性,因此作者想表达“不同国家有不同的风俗和礼仪”。故填The writer wants to tell us the customs and manners of different countries. 56.文章建议在访问一个国家之前,应了解其风俗习惯,以避免失礼,因此学习外国的风俗是必要的。故填Yes. Because knowing their customs can help us avoid impoliteness. C Do you think stars don’t move? A.something about an astronomer B.where the Milky Way is C.something about the speedy stars D.how scientists do their research D The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is an area in the ocean which has a huge floating collection of plastic waste. 第三部分 信息还原(共5小题:每小题1分,满分5分) 请认真阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Sometimes you might feel it impossible to get on well with your parents. C Do you think stars don’t move? A.something about an astronomer B.where the Milky Way is C.something about the speedy stars D.how scientists do their research D The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is an area in the ocean which has a huge floating collection of plastic waste. 第三部分 信息还原(共5小题:每小题1分,满分5分) 请认真阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Sometimes you might feel it impossible to get on well with your parents.
