It was about 5:30 p.m., and the sun was going down behind the mountains. Little Tom came home with tears in his eyes.
“My dear son, how was your trip?” His mother asked with a smile.
“I failed to reach the top of the mountain. The mountain was so high and the road was full of stones. I tried my best, but I was too tired, and it got too late, so I came back,” Tom said sadly.
“It’s okay. You’re only 14. You will have another chance,” his mother said.
“But reaching the top of the mountain is my dream!” Tom cried.
His father came over and asked, “Did you see the green trees on your way?”
“Yes, and there were many beautiful flowers along the road,” Tom replied.
“Did you hear birds singing?”
“Yes, there were many kinds of birds. Their songs were sweet,” said Tom.
“And did you feel the beauty of nature?” his father asked.
“Yes, the blue sky, white clouds, green trees, and colorful flowers were wonderful.”
“That’s enough,” his father smiled. “Sometimes reaching the top is not the most important thing. You’ve already gained so much on the way.”

Should We Help Strangers?
Helping others is a beautiful part of human nature.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】范文1:
Should We Help Strangers?
Helping others is a beautiful part of human nature. I think we should help strangers when they need us.
Some students say helping others may bring trouble, but I don’t agree. When we help others, they feel happy and may help someone else too. This makes our world better. Also, one day we might need help from strangers too.
Last month, I saw a woman carrying many bags at the bus stop. She looked tired. I helped her carry the bags onto the bus. She smiled and said “thank you”. This made me very happy.
Helping strangers is not hard. Small things can make a big difference. Let’s all try to help others when we can.
范文2:
Should We Help Strangers?
Helping others is a beautiful part of human nature. But I don’t think we should always help strangers. There are several reasons for this.
First, helping strangers can sometimes be dangerous. We don’t know if the person is really in need or if they might want to hurt us. Second, some people might take advantage of our kindness and cheat us. Finally, we might not have enough time or ability to help everyone.
Last term, my classmate Li Hua saw an old man fall down on the street. He wanted to help, but the man’s family later said Li Hua pushed him. It caused a lot of trouble for Li Hua.
In my opinion, we should be careful when helping strangers. It’s better to call the police or find other adults to help instead of helping directly. Safety should always come first.

In ancient times, copper coins were a symbol of wealth. People believed that putting the coins together could bring good luck and more money. In 2018, it became part of China’s intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产).

“Making shapes with coins is not very hard,” Zhang said, “but the important thing is to be creative.” In 2014, Zhang opened his small shop. Since then, he has worked hard to create new things. One time, he used more than 8, 000 coins and spent two months making a piece of armor. In 2017, this work became very popular and even got a national design patent (设计专利).
