Certainly you have. Pete Frates, a Boston College alumnus (校 友) came up with the idea. It not only helps the ALS patients to get the money to treat their disease, but also makes more and more people know about the disease, so that they can give more care to the patients. Ice Bucket Challenge became popular on social media during July—August, 2014. The organizer holds the activity to make people experience ALS patients ’ pain. In the activity, people need to pour the ice water down from their heads, and then nominate another three people to take part in the challenge. Within 24 hours, they can choose to accept the challenge, or donate 100 dollars, or do the both. People’s muscle become hard because of ALS. So it is hard for the patients to move. Stephen Hawking, a famous British physicist, was one of the patients. This activity makes people know about the illness and the pain that the patients suffer. Ice Bucket Challenge is a great success.
