It’s a small change, but it will make you feel more confident when speaking English. 22 If you want to say the word “apple” in English, for example, try imagining a picture of an apple, and then just think the English word “apple”.
Remember the answer is in the question.
23 English questions are like mirrors (镜子). If someone asks you a question and you’re not sure how to answer, start by thinking about the words used in the question. The person has already said most of the words you need to make your answer.
Use it or lose it.
There’s an expression in English: “Use it or lose it,” which means if you don’t practice a skill, you might forget it. 24 The best way to remember a new word is to use it right away so it will stay in your memory.
25
Sometimes it can be difficult to put all those rules and words together into a simple sentence. Don’t let the fear of saying something wrong stop you from speaking at all. Most of the time, people will understand what you’re trying to say, even if you make a mistake.
A.This idea can help you remember new English words.
B.Listen carefully when someone asks you a question in English.
C.Don’t be afraid to make mistakes.
D.We don’t have tricks that will give you perfect English.
E.This also means you need to start thinking in English.
F.And it’s hard to learn English well.

三、任务型阅读
Answer the questions (根据短文内容回答下列问题):
Pu Cuifen, a villager from Yunnan Province, experienced that an elephant visited his house two years ago. The elephants were harmful to no one, but had com and beans on the farm. The villagers lost nearly 50,000yuan. Earlier than that, villagers would drive away the elephants to protect their crops, which made the animals angry and led to human injuries or deaths.
Now the government has helped to pay the money for the crops damaged (损害) by elephants. Such things will help protect the interests of farmers and elephants. The government has also created “dining halls” for the wild elephants to grow their favorite food, such as elephant grass and bamboo. Villagers now simply leave the elephants alone.
Yunnan Province is not the only example of protecting wild animals. In Tibet, Migmar used to be a hunter, but now has become a rescuer at the wildlife rescue station of Qomolangma. He and his friends take turns to go around to check there’s no trouble or danger for wild animals every day. The wildlife rescue station was set up in 2019. From then on, they have saved 17 wild animals. During this period, they learned to tie up the animals and clean their wounds, and set them free into the wild when they got well again. “Animals don’t talk, but I can feel their trust. We should protect them,” said Migmar.
Examples of taking care of wild animals appear more around us. From damage to protection, people see more changing on human-wildlife relations. Even the simplest change and action can make a change to the world.
26.The elephants were harmless to people in Pu’s village, weren’t they?
27.What happened when the villagers drove away the elephants?
28.Why did the government create “dining halls” for the wild elephants?
29.What topic do the two examples have in common?
30.How do you feel about Migmar and his friends? Please give your reason(s).
【答案】26.No, they weren’t. 27.Villagers’ driving away the elephants made the animals angry and led to human injuries or deaths. 28.Because the government wanted to grow the wild elephants’ favorite food for them. 29.The topic is about protecting wild animals and the changing relationship between humans and wild animals. 30.开放性问题,答案不唯一。I think Migmar and his friends are kind and responsible. Because they take turns to check for the safety of wild animals and save them, showing their care and love for wildlife.

Remember the answer is in the question.

Use it or lose it.
