Cities around the globe have long relied on subways, streetcars, and buses to transport
people. But now aerial (空中 ) cable cars are enhancing urban transportation in certain cities in
creative ways. The following cities serve as remarkable examples.
Medellín, Colombia
Medellín’s Metro cable opened in 2004 and it marked a significant breakthrough. The line
easily connected the neighborhoods in the city center to those on its outskirts, where a powerful
culture of street art has emerged. A single-trip on the Metrocable takes only 15 to 20minutes and
costs less than $3.60.
Guayaquil, Ecuador
In Guayaquil, an economic city in Ecuador, the cable car has solved the city’s commuting
issues of the past two decades by connecting the city center with the new district. The transit line
has five stops between the two areas. And the transit line costs about $2.20for a single ride.
Toulouse, France
In 2022, Europe opened its first aerial cable car transit system in Toulouse, France, making
visiting the city quicker and easier for locals and visitors to explore both banks of Toulouse’s
Garonne River. A single trip costs around $3.80, making it the cheapest means of transportation in
Toulouse.
Portland, Oregon
Portland’s aerial transit has just one or two vehicles going back and forth between two
stations. Nevertheless, it takes just five minutes to ride the Portland Aerial Tram between the South
Waterfront downtown and Marquam Hill. Along this route, for just $3.70 per single trip, passengers
can get a bird’s-eye view of the residential area, university, nature park, and hiking trails. The
spectacular views are well worth the cost.
21.Which city offers the cheapest one-way cable car fare?
A.Medellín, Colombia. B.Guayaquil, Ecuador.
C.Toulouse, France. D.Portland, Oregon.
22.What can cable-riders probably do in Portland, Oregon?
A.Explore a historic riverbank. B.Overlook a university campus.
C.Walk through a natural park. D.Dive into a rich street culture.
23.What do the four cable car systems have in common?
A.Joining the city’s edges. B.Promoting international tourism.
C.Connecting European landmarks. D.Improving urban transport efficiency.

A woman has recalled her childhood spent “trapped” on a boat with her parents, detailing
how she made her “escape”.
While her parents thought it was the trip of a lifetime and often described the opportunity as
a “privilege”, Suzanne has since compared it to being locked up in prison.
Now 55 years old, Suzanne has shared her tale of survival on the Internet, and recalled her
10 years at sea in her tell-all memoir Wavewalker. Despite her father assuring her the “trip would
be safe”, Suzanne claimed it was “incredibly dangerous”, sharing details of a dangerous journey
from South Africa to Australia where the boat hit an “enormous storm”. “The waves became bigger
and bigger, and finally one crashed over the back of the boat,” she recalled. “I was thrown, a little
girl at 7, against the ceiling of the cabin and against the wall, breaking my skull and nose. Three
days later, we found a tiny little island in the middle of the Indian Ocean where I had multiple
head operations without anaesthetic (麻醉剂).”
In order to get through her “very strange” childhood, Suzanne recalled how she determined
to get an education to live a normal life. While remote education wasn’t an option in 1969, Suzanne
enrolled in an Australian correspondence school when she was 13. Then, when she was 16, and her
brother 15, her parents enrolled the two teenagers in a school in New Zealand while they continued
sailing. Despite the gaps in her education, Suzanne landed a spot at Oxford University, and after
saving up money she’d earned working on a farm, Suzanne bought a one-way plane ticket back to
the UK.
Since going public with her story, which she was inspired to do after the death of her
husband in 2018, Suzanne’s book instantly became a bestseller. Suzanne’s extraordinary tale has
captured the hearts of millions. “Wavewalker is one of the best books I’ve read. I’m so sorry you
went through all that,” one person replied, while another said, “Thank you for the this! Your story
inspires me and I can change my life no matter when and how.”
24.How does Suzanne find the ten-year journey at sea?
A.Amusing and rewarding. B.Eventful and risky.
C.Private and Plain. D.Inspiring and comforting.
25.Why did Suzanne decide to get an education?
A.To get her life back on track. B.To earn enough money.
C.To adapt to her strange childhood. D.To prove her parents wrong.
26.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.Suzanne’s book is well received.
B.Suzanne’s book gets divided opinions.
C.Suzanne’s book highlights adventurous spirits.
D.Suzanne’s husband inspires her to write the book.
27.Which of the following is the best title for the text?
A.A Dangerous Journey Shapes a Brave Woman.
B.A Success Story Inspires More People to Follow.
C.A Best-seller Describes an Unforgettable Journey at Sea.
D.A Woman Trapped on a Boat for a Decade Details “Escape”.

C
Two years ago, in the BIG-bench project, 450 researchers created 204 tasks to test large
language models (LLMs). While most tasks showed a smooth performance improvement as models
grew, some abilities seemed to emerge suddenly, which was described as “breakthrough” behavior,
similar to the physical phase transition (物理变相), such as, water turning to ice. Researchers in
2022 considered these abilities unpredictable and significant for AI safety discussions.
However, a new paper by Stanford University researchers challenges this view. They claim
that the apparent sudden emergence of abilities is an artifact of measurement. Sanmi Koyejo, the
senior author, states that the transition is more predictable than believed, and the claims of
emergence are related to measurement methods. LLMs’ growth, measured by parameters (参数 ),
has led to remarkable performance improvements. For example, GPT-2 had 1.5 billion parameters,
GPT-3.5 has 350 billion, and GPT-4 reportedly has 1.75 trillion.
The Stanford team uses three-digit addition as an example. In the 2022 BIG-bench study,
GPT-3 and LAMDA, another LLM, couldn’t add accurately until reaching certain parameter
thresholds (阈值). But the Stanford researchers note that the original study only considered perfect
accuracy. Using a new standard with partial credit, they show that the addition ability develops
gradually as parameters increase.
Although current emergence may be due to measurement, future, more complex LLMs might
exhibit true emergence. Xia “Ben” Hu from Rice University suggests that as LLMs grow, they will
borrow knowledge from other tasks and models. This debate on emergence is crucial as it directly
impacts efforts to predict LLM behavior, which is essential as these technologies become more
widespread.
28.Why does the author mention the physical phase transition?
A.To compare the performance of different LLMs.
B.To illustrate the sudden emergence of certain abilities in LLMs.
C.To emphasize the complexity of the BIG-bench project.
D.To explain the process of creating tasks in the BIG-bench project.
29.What view does a new paper by Stanford University researchers hold?
A.The sudden emergence of LLM abilities is more predictable.
B.The performance improvements of LLMs have nothing to do with parameters.
C.The BIG-bench project’s tasks are scientific enough to test LLMs.
D.The “breakthrough” behavior of LLMs is significant for AI safety issues.
30.According to Xia “Ben” Hu from Rice University, what might happen as LLMs grow in the
future?
A.They will stop showing emergent behavior.
B.They will become less complex and more useful.
C.They will borrow knowledge from other tasks and models.
D.They will have fewer parameters and become more widespread.
31.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.To explain the concept of “emergent” abilities in LLMs.
B.To describe the work of Stanford University researchers on LLMs.
C.To introduce the development of LLMs in the past two years.
D.To present a debate about the “emergent” abilities in LLMs.

The chemically combined Bisphenol A, or BPA, was found in a variety of widely used
products, such as plastic of water bottles and eyewear. But it is also a chemical known to disturb
the body’s hormones (激素).
Previous studies have already suggested that BPA exposure could negatively affect human
health, including the gut microbiome (肠道微生物群). However, studies have not looked at the
connections between those who are overweight and those who are not. Researchers in Spain
recently studied a group of children, half boys and half girls, aiming to evaluate how BPA affects
gut microbiome in relation to childhood overweight and whether certain bacteria could serve as
biological markers for BPA exposure.
BPA-cultured samples from 106 children aged 5 to 10 were analyzed, revealing that BPA
exposure led to specific changes of gut microbiome. Certain bacterial species, such as Clostridium
and Romboutsia, showed resistance to BPA and were positively associated with microbiome
richness. However, other species were inversely correlated with gut diversity, potentially leading to
overweight. “We found that the gut microbiome responds differently to BPA exposure depending on
the body-mass index (BMI) of the individual,” said microbiologist Margarita Aguilera, lead author
of the study.
In addition, children with normal weight exhibited a more enriched and connected gut
microbiome network compared to those with overweight, suggesting greater resilience (恢复力) to
the ill effects of BPA.This finding highlights the importance of understanding the relationship
between BPA, overweight, and gut microbiome for informing interventions and policies aimed at
reducing childhood overweight risk.
In future work, Aguilera said, the researchers plan to similarly investigate how exposure to
other combined chemicals may influence the composition of the gut microbiome. Her group’s
primary goal, however, is to explain the mechanisms behind an invisible but widespread threat.
“We want to raise awareness about the health risks associated with micro-plastics that enter our
bodies, and those that spread in the environment,” Aguilera said in a statement. “It’s crucial for
individuals to be mindful of these concerns.”
32.Why did the Spanish researchers conduct this study?
A.To identify more hormones related to children’s overweight.
B.To confirm certain bacteria as indicators of causing overweight.
C.To discover the potential risks of BPA exposure as many as possible.
D.To explore BPA’s impact on gut microbiome concerning childhood overweight.
33.What does the underlined word “inversely” in paragraph 3 mean?
A.Randomly. B.Respectively. C.Oppositely. D.Apparently.
34.What can we learn from the study?
A.The increase of gut bacteria will add the risk of overweight.
B.The finding emphasizes the link between the body’s hormones.
C.The overweight kids have a more diverse network of gut bacteria.
D.Normal-weight kids can effectively resist bad effects of BPA.
35.Which aspect of the research does Aguilera talk about in the last paragraph?
A.Its application. B.Its significance. C.Its limitation. D.Its background.

Traditional methods of payment like coins, bills and cards take raw materials to make and
energy to transport. They cause pollution when they are worn out and need to be collected and
destroyed. 36 But researchers are studying whether they’re more environmentally friendly.
Digital currencies (货币 ), for example, exist only online. Their impacts depend on how
they’re set up. Bitcoin (比特币 ) and various other so-called cryptocurrencies (加密货币 ) have
huge environmental impacts. They rely on big, spread-out networks of computer users to keep the
systems secure. Under those systems, cryptocurrency “miners” use specialized software and
hardware to work. The biggest mining networks can use more energy than some countries. Mining
businesses also replace their computers often. 37
In contrast, there are now some central-bank digital currencies(CBDCs). A government
authority sets the value and issues this online currency. 38
Early CBDCs include Cambodia’s Bakong, the Bahamas’ Sand Dollar and the EC dollar
DCash system used by several Eastern Caribbean countries. Other countries that have introduced
or run pilot programs for CBDCs include China, Nigeria and South Africa.
39 These countries are exploring how that form of money might work with banking
systems. They are also taking into account the impact on the environment. 40 There might
even be some energy savings if CBDCs make some other parts of the money system obsolete (淘汰
的). Physical transportation of cash could go down, for example, and fewer banks might be needed.
A.That, too, creates lots of waste.
B.They don’t want it to be like Bitcoin.
C.All these lead to huge costs of labor and money.
D.Many more countries are looking into digital currency.
E.People can then spend the digital money using a phone app.
F.New technology has brought about new methods of payment.
G.But the problem is that they can’t totally replace traditional banks.

It was early January 2010 and a sudden snowfall had ground the UK capital to a stop.
Andrea’s flight home to Toronto, Canada was canceled. She wanted to get back to Toronto to
see her family in time for their traditional January 6 Christmas celebrations. If she didn’t depart
the UK ASAP, she’d never make it, and the thought of missing the festivities was heartbreaking.
“It was really, really important for me to be back home in time,” murmured Andrea, who was
in her early 20s at the time.
But the hours rolled on, and there was no sign of any flights departing that day, and Heathrow
Airport’s departures area was filled with masses of similarly trapped, would-be fliers. Among them
was an American traveler called Hollie Savitt, from Chicago. In January 2010, Hollie was also in
her early 20s and was in the midst of a post-college trip around the world.
Hollie was supposed to be gone for two months. Hollie’s flight was also canceled. She was
wandering around the departure area wondering what to do when she spotted Andrea. Hollie’s heart
immediately went out to the stranger, who looked overwhelmed and exhausted.
Hollie came up to Andrea and asked, “Are you okay?”
In response, Andrea told Hollie about her canceled flight and the likely soon-to-be-missed
Christmas celebrations.
“Alright, we’ll cooperate. Two heads are better than one,” said Hollie.
They became a little team right away. Andrea was still anxious about getting home to her
family. But she trusted Hollie, who was bright and cheerful, even amid the chaos, and made her
laugh. So when Andrea was offered a free hotel by airport staff, she and Hollie decided they’d
share the room for the night. Both women also felt comfortable around one another. It was hard to
explain, but once they started chatting, it was kind of like they’d known each other for years.
Andrea felt the cloud she was under lift a little.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为 150个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
As for Hollie, she recognized Andrea was in need of a friendly face and a bit of moral
support.
Andrea was among the first to get a new ticket.

M: You just went shopping yesterday and you bought a new cell phone and some makeup.
W: I did, but an old friend called me last night and invited me to her birthday party. I need to buy a gift for her.
M: I see. What are you going to get her?
W: I really have no idea what she likes. We used to play together when we were at school, but I haven’t seen her for a long time. What do you think?
M: Maybe a cake?
W: Well, that’s a good idea, but I think I should probably get her something else, like something she can wear.
M: How about a sweater? I saw a really nice one in the mall the other day. It is cheap and of good quality. Maybe we can go there and take a look.
W: OK, what store was it in?
M: It was at Macy’s. Let’s go there this Saturday, the day after tomorrow. I think they’re having a sale this weekend.
W: Oh, that’s a really nice store. It is not far away and I like the clothes there.

There are a number of ways that you may call or be called to a meeting. Some meetings are announced by e-mail, and others are posted on billboards. If a meeting is announced at the end of another meeting, it is important to issue a reminder. A reminder can also come in the form of an e-mail or notice. Verbal announcements or reminders should always be backed up by a documented one. The date, location, time, length, and purpose of the meeting should be included. It is also important to indicate exactly who is expected to attend, and who is not. If you are planning on arranging someone to take on a certain role, make personal contact with that person to inform them of his or her duty.

故填and。

66. I recently watched your amazing animation video of Journey to the West Episode 1, which left a deep impression on me. The visual and auditory effects were truly breathtaking. This animation video was a testament to the power of AI in bringing classic literature to modern audiences in a fresh and engaging way.
However, I do have a few suggestions that might further enhance the viewers’ experience. First, it would be great if you could include more Chinese-style background music. Secondly, more cultural elements and historical references would not only enrich the content but also educate viewers about Chinese traditions.

One possible version:
As for Hollie, she recognized Andrea was in need of a friendly face and a bit of moral support. She spent the entire evening sharing stories of her travels around the world, making Andrea forget about her worries for a while. They laughed together at Hollie’s funny anecdotes about different cultures and countries she had visited. In return, Andrea opened up about her family traditions in Toronto, especially the unique Christmas celebrations they held on January 6. As the night went on, their bond grew stronger. They exchanged contact details, promising to keep in touch no matter what. Hollie even joked that they should plan a trip together someday, which made Andrea smile widely.
Andrea was among the first to get a new ticket. She was overjoyed but also a bit sad at the thought of leaving Hollie behind. However, Hollie was nothing but happy for her new friend. She helped Andrea gather her things and accompanied her to the boarding gate. They hugged tightly, both feeling a sense of gratitude for the unexpected friendship that had blossomed in the chaos of the airport. Andrea promised to send Hollie pictures of her family’s Christmas celebrations. Back in Toronto, Andrea indeed shared the joyous moments with Hollie through messages, and their friendship continued to thrive across the distance.

But now aerial (空中) cable cars are enhancing urban transportation in certain cities in creative ways. The following cities serve as remarkable examples. Medell n, Colombia Medell n’s Metro cable opened in 2004 and it marked a significant breakthrough. The line easily connected the neighborhoods in the city center to those on its outskirts, where a powerful culture of street art has emerged. A single-trip on the Metrocable takes only 15 to 20minutes and costs less than $3.60. Guayaquil, Ecuador In Guayaquil, an economic city in Ecuador, the cable car has solved the city’s commuting issues of the past two decades by connecting the city center with the new district. The transit line has five stops between the two areas. And the transit line costs about $2.20for a single ride. Toulouse, France In 2022, Europe opened its first aerial cable car transit system in Toulouse, France, making visiting the city quicker and easier for locals and visitors to explore both banks of Toulouse’s Garonne River. A single trip costs around $3.80, making it the cheapest means of transportation in Toulouse. Portland, Oregon Portland’s aerial transit has just one or two vehicles going back and forth between two stations. Nevertheless, it takes just five minutes to ride the Portland Aerial Tram between the South Waterfront downtown and Marquam Hill. Along this route, for just $3.70 per single trip, passengers can get a bird’s-eye view of the residential area, university, nature park, and hiking trails. The spectacular views are well worth the cost. 21.Which city offers the cheapest one-way cable car fare? A.Medell n, Colombia. B A woman has recalled her childhood spent “trapped” on a boat with her parents, detailing how she made her “escape”. While her parents thought it was the trip of a lifetime and often described the opportunity as a “privilege”, Suzanne has since compared it to being locked up in prison. Now 55 years old, Suzanne has shared her tale of survival on the Internet, and recalled her 10 years at sea in her tell-all memoir Wavewalker. Despite her father assuring her the “trip would be safe”, Suzanne claimed it was “incredibly dangerous”, sharing details of a dangerous journey from South Africa to Australia where the boat hit an “enormous storm”. “The waves became bigger and bigger, and finally one crashed over the back of the boat,” she recalled. “I was thrown, a little girl at 7, against the ceiling of the cabin and against the wall, breaking my skull and nose. Three days later, we found a tiny little island in the middle of the Indian Ocean where I had multiple head operations without anaesthetic (麻醉剂).” In order to get through her “very strange” childhood, Suzanne recalled how she determined to get an education to live a normal life. While remote education wasn’t an option in 1969, Suzanne enrolled in an Australian correspondence school when she was 13. Then, when she was 16, and her brother 15, her parents enrolled the two teenagers in a school in New Zealand while they continued sailing. Despite the gaps in her education, Suzanne landed a spot at Oxford University, and after saving up money she’d earned working on a farm, Suzanne bought a one-way plane ticket back to the UK. Since going public with her story, which she was inspired to do after the death of her husband in 2018, Suzanne’s book instantly became a bestseller. Suzanne’s extraordinary tale has captured the hearts of millions. “Wavewalker is one of the best books I’ve read. I’m so sorry you went through all that,” one person replied, while another said, “Thank you for the this! Your story inspires me and I can change my life no matter when and how.” 24.How does Suzanne find the ten-year journey at sea? C Two years ago, in the BIG-bench project, 450 researchers created 204 tasks to test large language models (LLMs). While most tasks showed a smooth performance improvement as models grew, some abilities seemed to emerge suddenly, which was described as “breakthrough” behavior, similar to the physical phase transition (物理变相), such as, water turning to ice. Researchers in 2022 considered these abilities unpredictable and significant for AI safety discussions. However, a new paper by Stanford University researchers challenges this view. They claim that the apparent sudden emergence of abilities is an artifact of measurement. Sanmi Koyejo, the senior author, states that the transition is more predictable than believed, and the claims of emergence are related to measurement methods. LLMs’ growth, measured by parameters (参数), has led to remarkable performance improvements. For example, GPT-2 had 1.5 billion parameters, GPT-3.5 has 350 billion, and GPT-4 reportedly has 1.75 trillion. The Stanford team uses three-digit addition as an example. In the 2022 BIG-bench study, GPT-3 and LAMDA, another LLM, couldn’t add accurately until reaching certain parameter thresholds (阈值). But the Stanford researchers note that the original study only considered perfect accuracy. Using a new standard with partial credit, they show that the addition ability develops gradually as parameters increase. Although current emergence may be due to measurement, future, more complex LLMs might exhibit true emergence. Xia “Ben” Hu from Rice University suggests that as LLMs grow, they will borrow knowledge from other tasks and models. This debate on emergence is crucial as it directly impacts efforts to predict LLM behavior, which is essential as these technologies become more widespread. 30.According to Xia “Ben” Hu from Rice University, what might happen as LLMs grow in the future? A.They will stop showing emergent behavior. B.They will become less complex and more useful. C.They will borrow knowledge from other tasks and models. D.They will have fewer parameters and become more widespread. 31.What is the main idea of the passage? A.To explain the concept of “emergent” abilities in LLMs. B.To describe the work of Stanford University researchers on LLMs. C.To introduce the development of LLMs in the past two years. D.To present a debate about the “emergent” abilities in LLMs. D The chemically combined Bisphenol A, or BPA, was found in a variety of widely used products, such as plastic of water bottles and eyewear. But it is also a chemical known to disturb the body’s hormones (激素). Previous studies have already suggested that BPA exposure could negatively affect human health, including the gut microbiome (肠道微生物群). However, studies have not looked at the connections between those who are overweight and those who are not. Researchers in Spain recently studied a group of children, half boys and half girls, aiming to evaluate how BPA affects gut microbiome in relation to childhood overweight and whether certain bacteria could serve as biological markers for BPA exposure. BPA-cultured samples from 106 children aged 5 to 10 were analyzed, revealing that BPA exposure led to specific changes of gut microbiome. Certain bacterial species, such as Clostridium and Romboutsia, showed resistance to BPA and were positively associated with microbiome richness. However, other species were inversely correlated with gut diversity, potentially leading to overweight. “We found that the gut microbiome responds differently to BPA exposure depending on the body-mass index (BMI) of the individual,” said microbiologist Margarita Aguilera, lead author of the study. In addition, children with normal weight exhibited a more enriched and connected gut microbiome network compared to those with overweight, suggesting greater resilience (恢复力) to the ill effects of BPA.This finding highlights the importance of understanding the relationship between BPA, overweight, and gut microbiome for informing interventions and policies aimed at reducing childhood overweight risk. In future work, Aguilera said, the researchers plan to similarly investigate how exposure to other combined chemicals may influence the composition of the gut microbiome. Her group’s primary goal, however, is to explain the mechanisms behind an invisible but widespread threat. “We want to raise awareness about the health risks associated with micro-plastics that enter our bodies, and those that spread in the environment,” Aguilera said in a statement. “It’s crucial for individuals to be mindful of these concerns.” 32.Why did the Spanish researchers conduct this study? 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Traditional methods of payment like coins, bills and cards take raw materials to make and energy to transport. They cause pollution when they are worn out and need to be collected and destroyed. 36 But researchers are studying whether they’re more environmentally friendly. Digital currencies (货币), for example, exist only online. Their impacts depend on how they’re set up. Bitcoin (比特币) and various other so-called cryptocurrencies (加密货币) have huge environmental impacts. They rely on big, spread-out networks of computer users to keep the systems secure. Under those systems, cryptocurrency “miners” use specialized software and hardware to work. The biggest mining networks can use more energy than some countries. Mining businesses also replace their computers often. 37 In contrast, there are now some central-bank digital currencies(CBDCs). A government authority sets the value and issues this online currency. 38 Early CBDCs include Cambodia’s Bakong, the Bahamas’ Sand Dollar and the EC dollar DCash system used by several Eastern Caribbean countries. Other countries that have introduced or run pilot programs for CBDCs include China, Nigeria and South Africa. 39 These countries are exploring how that form of money might work with banking systems. They are also taking into account the impact on the environment. 40 There might even be some energy savings if CBDCs make some other parts of the money system obsolete (淘汰的). 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 On July 24, Winbush, 39, suffered a seizure (疾病发作) while behind the wheel. Andrea’s flight home to Toronto, Canada was canceled. She wanted to get back to Toronto to see her family in time for their traditional January 6 Christmas celebrations. If she didn’t depart the UK ASAP, she’d never make it, and the thought of missing the festivities was heartbreaking. “It was really, really important for me to be back home in time,” murmured Andrea, who was in her early 20s at the time. But the hours rolled on, and there was no sign of any flights departing that day, and Heathrow Airport’s departures area was filled with masses of similarly trapped, would-be fliers. Among them was an American traveler called Hollie Savitt, from Chicago. In January 2010, Hollie was also in her early 20s and was in the midst of a post-college trip around the world. Hollie was supposed to be gone for two months. Hollie’s flight was also canceled. She was wandering around the departure area wondering what to do when she spotted Andrea. Hollie’s heart immediately went out to the stranger, who looked overwhelmed and exhausted. Hollie came up to Andrea and asked, “Are you okay?” In response, Andrea told Hollie about her canceled flight and the likely soon-to-be-missed Christmas celebrations. “Alright, we’ll cooperate. Two heads are better than one,” said Hollie. They became a little team right away. Andrea was still anxious about getting home to her family. But she trusted Hollie, who was bright and cheerful, even amid the chaos, and made her laugh. So when Andrea was offered a free hotel by airport staff, she and Hollie decided they’d share the room for the night. Both women also felt comfortable around one another. It was hard to explain, but once they started chatting, it was kind of like they’d known each other for years. Andrea felt the cloud she was under lift a little. 注意: (1)续写词数应为150个左右; (2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 As for Hollie, she recognized Andrea was in need of a friendly face and a bit of moral support.
