Have you ever thought about what’s more important, looking fashionable or feeling comfortable? You might have noticed many people choosing style over comfort and some even go to extremes (极端) to follow fashion. But we should remember: being fashionable isn’t everything. It’s more important to be healthy.
Some people believe that they need to be a certain size to look good. So, they start extreme diets (日常饮食) that are not good for their health. They might not eat meals or eat too little, which can make them feel sick. Is it a healthy way to live?
Also, many girls wear shoes with very high heels. They might think high heels make them look taller. But these shoes can actually hurt their feet and make it hard to walk comfortably, and it can increase risks of falls. Some even wear tight (紧的) clothes that influence blood circulation (循环), making it hard to breathe. Should we put fashion over comfort and physical health?
Besides, some boys and girls spend a lot of time and money changing their hair color. The material they use is harmful to their health. To make their hair straight or curly, they also use tools that are hot enough to burn their hair. But using these tools or at very high temperatures can make the hair dry or even burnt. Is it really worth it to risk our health, spending so much time and money?
So, let’s rethink what’s really important. Is it fashion or is it our well-being? Clothes or hairstyles don’t tell us anything about a person’s character. Instead of spending a lot of time choosing clothes, we could use that time to do fun things with friends. And instead of following extreme diets, let’s eat properly and exercise regularly. Remember, your worth is not decided by your appearance, but by who you are as a person.
24.Why do many girls often wear shoes with high heels according to the passage?
A.Because they need to be a certain size.
B.Because they think high heels can make them taller.
C.Because they want to save time.
25.What is the writer’s purpose of using a question in each paragraph?
A.To ask for help from readers.
B.To tell how to spend time and money.
C.To lead readers to think about the topic.
26.What can we learn from the passage?
A.If you want to be a certain size to look good, you should start extreme diets.
B.The material of changing hair color might be harmful to people’s health.
C.We can judge a person’s character by clothes or hairstyles.
27.Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?
A. B. C.
【答案】24.B 25.C 26.B 27.A

It is often said that old people don’t understand the young, while many believe that children are too young to fully understand the wisdom of their elders. But in truth, both groups have a lot to learn from each other.
Geraldine Tan runs the St. Joseph’s Home for the aged in Singapore. It’s mainly a place for serving the elders. But not all of its visitors are old people.
The home also includes a child-care center for about 50 kids between the ages of 2 months and 6 years old. At the center of the home’s courtyard (中庭), there is a playground where the old people can play with the kids. By doing so, they can learn more about each other and get more mutual (相互的) respect and understanding.
I think it is quite an interesting idea. We live in a world where aging societies are becoming more common. It will be important for young people to be able to understand and care for old people in the coming years.
Sadly, my own grandparents weren’t around when I was little, as they had already passed away. I never got to learn what the world was like through their eyes, or what kinds of challenges they might have faced when they were my age. Their lives will always be a mystery (谜) to me.
But I suppose I can still learn from other people of older generations. I might find some of their ideas old-fashioned, and they might believe that my generation’s way of thinking is strange or incorrect. But we can still learn from each other anyway.
28.What can we know about St. Joseph’s Home?
A.It is in Singapore. B.It is run by St. Joseph. C.It only serves old people.
29.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A.Building a playground at the courtyard.
B.Making old people and kids play together.
C.Respecting old people and learning from them.
30.The writer express his opinion in Paragraph 5 ________.
A.by giving numbers B.by explaining reasons C.by telling an own story
31.What’s the main idea of the last paragraph?
A.Thoughts of young people are usually wrong.
B.Different generations can learn from each other.
C.The older generations are no longer fashionable.
【答案】28.A 29.B 30.C 31.B

29.词句猜测题。根据文章第3段“At the center of the home’s courtyard, there is a playground where the old people can play with the kids.”可知,在院子的中心有一个游乐场,老年人和孩子可以在那里一起玩。作者认为这个主意很有趣,因此“it”指的是“让老年人和孩子一起玩”。故选B。
30.推理判断题。根据文章第5段“Sadly, my own grandparents weren’t around when I was little, as they had already passed away.”可推知,作者通过讲述自己的故事表达观点。故选C。
31.主旨大意题。根据文章最后一段“But we can still learn from each other anyway.”可知,最后一段主要思想是不同世代可以互相学习。故选B。

This spring, the most eye-catching movie might be YOLO (《热辣滚烫》). By February 26, it had made over 3.3 billion yuan at the box office, reported The Paper.
Directed by 41-year-old Jia Ling, the movie tells the story of a woman tired of the world, finding herself and learning to love life through boxing (拳击). The name YOLO is short for the movie’s main idea you only live once. Jia has tried many different roles in her life, including crosstalk and sketch performer, variety show (综艺节目) guest and actress. It was in 2019 that she became a director for the first time, making her movie Hi, Mom.
Jia didn’t study directing at university. And she believes this is both a good and bad thing. It makes her feel freer in filmmaking because she doesn’t need to follow a fixed style. To everyone’s surprise, Hi, Mom made her the world’s highest-grossing (票房最高的) woman director before 2023.
Before making YOLO, Jia was often seen as an overweight comedian (喜剧演员). She often made jokes about herself to make people laugh. For this movie, Jia lost 50 kg and looked very different. Some people online said even her voice became softer, and they call this a “rebirth” for Jia.
In Jia’s eyes, her change in identity (身份) and look is her way of staying true to herself. “It’s hard to predict (预言) one’s life. I’m just following my heart but not looking for changes on purpose. Movies are now the best way to show myself, so I put all my energy into them,” Jia told Xinhua.

A. B. C.
C
