教学过程 Teaching Procedures
I. Lead-in (3 minutes)
Show some pictures of different weather, such as sunny, rainy, windy. Then show a picture of a rainstorm and ask students: “What do you usually do when there is a rainstorm?” Encourage students to share their ideas in simple sentences.
II. Pre-listening (7 minutes)
Present the new words and phrases in 1a on the PPT. Teach students to read and understand them.
Explain the past continuous tense briefly. Use some simple examples like “I was reading when my mother came back.” to show the form “was/were + doing”.
III. While-listening (15 mins)
Activity 1a: Let students match the activities with the pictures. Check the answers together.
Activity 1b: Play the recording in 1b. Students listen and number the pictures. Play it again for students to check.
Pair-work: Ask students to work in pairs. One student describes one of the pictures in 1a using the past continuous tense, and the other guesses which picture it is.
IV. Post-listening (15 mins)
Activity 2a: Play the recording of 2a. Students listen and circle the correct responses.
Activity 2b: Play the recording again. Students listen and fill in the blanks. Check the answers.
Group work: Divide students into groups of four. Each group makes up a story about what they were doing during a rainstorm. One student in each group reports the story to the class.
V. Summary (3 minutes)
Summarize the key words, phrases and the usage of the past continuous tense with students. Write them on the blackboard.
Ask students to recall the main points of the listening materials.

Ask students to listen to the recording of this part again to improve their listening skills.
