Is it hard for us to get up when it’s cold? The answer is probably yes. But life is quite different for some animals at this time. They hibernate (冬眠) for a long time when it’s cold or there is no more food to eat. Let’s learn some interesting things about them.
Snails (蜗牛) work hard to get ready for hibernation. They stay in their shells when hibernating. The corner of walls or some other places like tree trunks are good choices for them. They don’t eat anything during hibernation. When it is very cold, snails can hibernate for several months.
What about bats? Some hibernate for weeks and some for months. While hibernating they don’t need to eat, but they need to drink water. Some bats can get moisture around them by using special parts of their bodies. Others might make their body waste thicker so they don’t lose as much water.
When turtles hibernate, they choose places like mud (泥浆) at the bottom of rivers or lakes. These places are cool, so they can stay alive even if it’s very cold outside. And staying in the mud can keep them safe from other animals.
_______ They start moving around again, looking for food and friends. It’s amazing how they can just pause their lives for so long and then pick up right where they hibernate!
Different animals hibernate uniquely. Their smart survival skills show nature’s wonders. Even in difficult times, life finds amazing ways to keep going!
26 Why does the writer raise the question at the beginning?
A. To get the readers’ answers. B. To show it’s hard for us to get up.
C. To introduce animals’ hibernation. D. To talk about the weather in winter.
27. In what way are snails and bats the same?
A. They don’t eat any food during hibernation. B. They choose trees to hibernate.
C. They lose no water when hibernating. D. They have special body parts.

C. In a word, all animals can find places to spend winter.

Safer Internet Day is on the second Tuesday of February every year. On this day, people in around 170 countries take part in activities to try to make the Internet become a safer place for teenagers.
We can use the Internet to learn new things, call family members who live far away, chat with friends, listen to music; watch videos and play games. But there may be some dangers when we are online. For example, online bullying (霸凌) is when someone uses the Internet to make another person feel bad, often with bad messages on social media. Online bullying can happen in games too, when players post unkind messages in the chat box.
Here are some tips on how to stay safe online.
★If you see something online that makes you afraid or worried or if you know that someone is bullied, tell parents, teachers or another adult who you trust.
★Don’t meet people who you only know online. The people you meet online may be not the same as they really are. It’s dangerous to go to meet them in real life.
★Don’t believe everything you read online! Not everything online is true. When you look for information, make sure that you use a website you can trust. And only share things with your friends if you know that they are true.

While hibernating, they don’t need to eat, but they need to drink water.

Online bullying can happen in games too, when players post unkind messages in the chat box.
Here are some tips on how to stay safe online.
★If you see something online that makes you afraid or worried, or if you know that someone is bullied, tell parents, teachers or another adult who you trust.
★Don’t meet people who you only know online. The people you meet online may be not the same as they really are. It’s dangerous to go to meet them in real life.
