Watch Me Disappear If you like mysteries with the family drama, Janelle Brown’s bestselling thriller is for you. The story follows a wealthy wife and mom who goes on a hike and never returns. Her lonely husband and teenage daughter, Olive(who’s dealing with her own problems), are confused with sorrow while trying to find out what happens. The Boy from the Woods If you pick up one of Harlan Coben’s books, you won’t be able to put it down. His mystery stories keep readers fascinated. How to Walk Away Katherine Center’s bestselling novel follows a young woman, Margaret, with her perfect fiancé, a pilot who takes her on an upsetting flight that changes her life forever. Readers adore Margaret’s wisdom and humor as she faces a changed world and figures out what love really looks like. The Last One Left This novel, first published in 1967, still attracts readers decades later. Novelist Dean Koontz wrote the introduction to the recent edition, where he describes reading each of John D. What is Watch Me Disappear probably about? A. Mysterious disappearance of a woman. B. Sorrow at a dead mom. C. Teenager problems. D. A family outing. 22. Who is the author of The Last One Left? A. Dean Koontz. B. Harlan Coben. C. Katherine Center. D. John D. MacDonald. 23. Which book deals with love? A. Watch Me Disappear. B. The Boy from the Woods. C. How to Walk Away. D. The Last One Left. B A year ago, I decided to create a more environmentally friendly kitchen, focusing on reducing the single-use products such as plastic bags and paper towels. I’m not going to sugarcoat my experience. It takes commitment and a willingness to change long-held habits. In creating my kitchen, I tried a lot of different alternative products and some plain old common sense; the result, however, has been worth the effort. I’m recycling more and relying less on single-use products and I’m saving money too. I’m not kidding when I say that I used to really love plastic storage bags, so this was, perhaps, the biggest challenge for me. Switching to reusable storage bags is a financial investment, but the cost is reasonable considering that I previously spent at least $100 annually on single-use plastic bags and wrap. I will check online periodically for recycling updates, where a zero-waste box for kitchen items is offered, from party supplies to mixed-material food containers. I’m a clean freak (怪人) and used to go through an amount of paper towels on a daily basis, but it’s easy enough to take old T-shirts or towels and cut them up to use to wipe down surfaces. I’m also a fan of bamboo paper towels, which have the look and feel of traditional paper towels, yet are made from a highly renewable source and also break down in just 45 days. Better yet, they can be reused up to 100 times. As for kitchen sponges (海绵擦), I keep an eye out for those made with natural and recyclable materials. When purchasing household items online from companies like Amazon or Jet, I will ask to have them shipped in as few boxes as possible or as small a box as possible if a single item is to be sent. I’ll let the company know that they should pay more attention to how it is packaging items for delivery. 24. What is the author’s main purpose of creating her kitchen? A To save money. B. To promote her long-held habits. C. To reduce waste and recycle more. D. To make it cleaner and more practical. 25. In creating her kitchen, what does the author do? A. Begins to recycle more single-use plastic bags. B. Checks online periodically to buy zero-waste boxes. C. Chooses to use the recyclable or reusable kitchen items. D. Goes through an amount of paper towels on a daily basis. 26. What can we learn about the author from the text? A. She is used to traditional paper towels. B. She has strong environmental awareness. C. She has a good knowledge of financial investment. D. She prefers to have her purchases packed in single-use boxes. 27. What can be inferred from the passage about the author’s attitude towards online shopping packaging? A. She wants companies to minimize the amount of packaging materials. B. She hopes companies use more single-use boxes for each item. C. She doesn’t care about how items are packaged. D. She believes the current packaging methods are environmentally friendly. C Even if you’ re not a fan of hummus, or olives, it’s worth giving the Mediterranean diet a chance. In 2025, U. S. News and World Report ranked it Number 1 overall, as well as giving it first place as the best diet for mental health, for healthy eating, for inflammation(炎症), for gut health and for being the easiest diet to follow. The Mediterranean diet dates back to the 1950s when Ancel Keys, a physiologist from Minnesota, came up with the idea for the Seven Countries Study, which revealed its protective effects against cardiovascular diseases. This discovery transformed a regional tradition into a global health symbol. The Mediterranean diet places plant-based foods at the foundation. The core foods include whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, legumes, nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, and healthy fats such as olive oil. Moderate amounts of lean proteins are encouraged, as are eggs, dairy products and wine. By contrast, red meats and sweets are meant to be consumed less often. This pattern creates a natural defense against many diseases. The Mediterranean diet also embodies a philosophy of mindful living. It depends on shared meals, seasonal celebrations, and handmade food. In Greece, family gatherings center on grilled octopus and ouzo; in Spain, tapas culture helps to cultivate social connections; and in Italy, slow food movements champion local biodiversity. These practices stress the diet’s role in fostering community resilience (适应力) and cultural identity. Although celebrated globally, the Mediterranean diet faces threats from urbanization, processed food consumption, and economic gaps. However, scientists have put forward solutions. They emphasize its sustainability: reliance on local, seasonal ingredients matches eco-friendly practices, while traditional farming models regenerative agriculture. Today, the Mediterranean diet is integrated into public health policies worldwide, serving as a “non-drug prescription” for disease prevention. The Mediterranean diet goes beyond borders, inviting individuals to accept a way of life that honors nature, tradition, and health. It acts as a culinary bridge — connecting past and present, culture and science, and people to the planet. It reminds us the healthiest eating grows from respecting nature, tradition, and community. 28. What can we know about the Mediterranean diet? A. It ranks top for its various flavors. B. It consists of unusual ingredients. C. It has taken the world by storm recently. D. It is recognized for its health-protective effects. 29. What does the underlined phrase “a philosophy of mindful living” in paragraph 4 mean? A. A focus on lifestyle integration. B. A concept on social interactions. C. A lifestyle with conscious practices. D. Patterns of fast-paced modern life. 30. Why is the Mediterranean diet considered sustainable? A. It can get rid of processed foods. B. It is in line with global health policies. C. It combines tradition and sustainability. D. It relies on locally sourced seasonal foods. 31. What is the author’s purpose in writing the text? A. To explain the development of the diet. B. To confirm scientific studies on the diet. C. To promote the diet as a sustainable lifestyle. D. To introduce the health benefits of the diet. D A Chinese space mining (采矿) company has designed a robot that can catch waste material left behind by spacecraft in outer space with a big net. The state-run Xinhua News Agency reported that the robot launched on the government’s Long March 6 rocket along with several satellites. The robot will also investigate deep space to observe small objects in the universe. The 30-kilogram robot, called NEO-01, was developed by Origin Space. Founded in 2019 and based in the southern Chinese tech hub Shenzhen, Origin Space has been dedicated to exploring and using space resources, according to the company. The company says the robot will lead the way in future technology capable of mining on asteroids (小行星). The world’s first asteroid mining company, Planetary Resources, Inc was established in 2010. Since then, more than 12 businesses around the world have entered the industry, including 3D Systems of the United States and Japan’s Astroscale. Astroscale’s technology uses magnets (磁铁) to gather up space waste. But a report on the Origin Space website says NEO-01 will use a net to catch waste and then burn it. Thousands of satellites have been launched worldwide. As they are used for too long, many end up as waste and put other operating satellites at risk. Su Meng is the founder of Origin Space. He said the company plans to launch many space telescopes and more spacecraft to begin the first for-profit mining of asteroids by 2045. Su added that NEO-01 will serve as a prototype (雏形) of future space mining robots, which can use rich mineral resources on asteroids to support the development of the space industry. The Xinhua News Agency reported that China was increasing efforts to land a spacecraft on a near-Earth asteroid to collect material. China is also speeding up a plan to build a defense system against near-Earth asteroids. The country aims to follow Russia and the United States in becoming a major space power by 2030. 32. What can we know about NEO-01? A. It weighs 60 kilograms. B. It was created by Planetary Resources, Inc. C. It will be burnt after accomplishing its mission. D. It is mainly used to catch space waste. 33. Which of the following is TRUE about Origin Space? A. It was founded in 2010. B. It has launched many space telescopes. C. It is based in Beijing. D. It aims to conduct for-profit asteroid mining. 34. Why does China try to land a spacecraft on a near- Earth asteroid? A. To collect material. B. To catch up with Russia and America. C. To build a defense system. D. To support the development of the space industry. 35. What can be the best title for the text? A. NEO-01, a Smart Robot Used in Space. B. A Chinese Robot Can Catch Space Waste. C. A New Robot Makes China a Space Power. D. NEO⁃01, the Pioneer of Future Space Robots. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Unlike the IQ, emotional intelligence is something we can develop with practice and time. ___36___. I nodded my head and said in a low voice, “Yes, sir.” What a mistake I had made! I had completed my math homework. But before I left home and headed for school, I forgot to put it into my schoolbag. “You will get a zero then,” my math teacher said. I was shocked. I had never received a zero in a math class before. But the school had rules, and the teacher had to let everyone follow them. I was immediately worried about my final math average, which was based on my homework and the tests. Would I get a C or even a D at the end of the term? If so, what should I do? My next class was a PE class. As I walked down the hall with my classmates, all those feelings rushed out in hot tears. I wiped them away as quickly as I could. But when we entered the gym and sat down in our spots on the floor, it was clear to everyone around me that I had been crying. My PE teacher, Ms. Brown, was an athletic teacher, often with a smile on her face. Her class was a good mix of calisthenics (健美操) and games that can give us all a good workout. And Ms. Brown was nice and compassionate (有同情心的). She loved her students and often came to help if the students were in trouble. During that PE class, my mind was affected by the math homework and I was worried about my final math average. So I failed to devote my attention to Ms. Brown’s direction. And clearly, I was sad. I guessed that Ms. Brown found there was something wrong with me. When it was near the end of the PE class, she walked to me. 注意:续写词数应为150左右。 Paragraph 1: She sat down to comfort me. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: I felt relaxed and decided to work harder at math. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 2025年春学期期中考试 高二英语试卷 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 How much is the camera now? I realized that no one has to be physically disabled. We can use modern technology to help us. W: And you built the new legs. Can you go mountain climbing again? M: Yes, I can. In fact, these are better than climbing shoes. The spring design means they are much more powerful. 听下面一段独白,回答以下小题。【此处可播放相关音频,请去附件查看】 17. Why do boys and girls prefer different toys? C 【解析】 【原文】Good morning, class! Today what I’d like to talk about is why boys and girls prefer different toys. There seems never to have been a civilization without toys. Some have changed over the centuries while others have remained the same. Nearly every civilization has dolls, stuffed animals, little weapons, toy soldiers and vehicles. Girls typically choose to play with the dolls and stuffed animals, while boys typically like to play with the others. Throughout the world, the same kinds of toys appear with varieties depending on local customs and ways of life. A traditional explanation is that boys and girls are encouraged to play with different types of toys by their parents and society, where social roles are determined: boys pattern their play after the activities of their fathers and girls after the tasks of their mothers. This happens because boys and girls are being prepared to step into their roles and responsibilities in the adult world and therefore, toys always imitate social surroundings, even in play. 第二部分 阅读理解(共两节,满分50分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。 A The recent few weeks have been the perfect time for a good book and here are some good ones that allow readers to get completely lost in another world. A. To save money. B. To promote her long-held habits. C. To reduce waste and recycle more. D. To make it cleaner and more practical. 25. In creating her kitchen, what does the author do? A Begins to recycle more single-use plastic bags. 【答案】24. In 2025, U. 【答案】28. D 29. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Paragraph 1: She sat down to comfort me. “Are you OK?” she asked. I told her about my trouble. Then Ms. Brown said to me, “We all make mistakes.” She told me what happened to her several days ago. I was surprised that she also made mistakes since I had thought she was perfect. She told me the world wouldn’t end for a zero in a math class and encouraged me to study hard. Paragraph 2: I felt relaxed and decided to work harder at math. In math classes, I paid more attention to the teacher’s speeches. After school, I would do the math homework more carefully. And I left notes to remind me not to forget to bring my homework to school again. At the end of that term, based on my good daily performances and test scores, my final math average was an A. This experience taught me a lesson: as long as we learn from mistakes, we’re making progress. 词汇激活 行为类 ①鼓励:encourage/hearten ②告诉:tell/let know ③认为:think/consider 情绪类 惊讶的:surprised/amazed 完美的:perfect/faultless 【点睛】[高分句型1] She told me what happened to her several days ago.
