If people on your team are not good at communication, you may often feel terrible. To create a successful team, good communication is the most necessary for both the team members and the leader. Here are some helpful suggestions. ❶Don’t criticize (批评) other people. When someone on your team does something wrong, don’t criticize them. You can help them to find the reasons and then help them to solve the problem. Criticizing your team members too often may make them want to keep away from you. As a result, you may feel lonely. ❷ Listen to other people actively and think about their ideas carefully. When someone tells you about their ideas, you should listen to them actively and think about their ideas carefully, no matter how silly they may seem. This shows you are interested in their ideas and makes them feel good. If you are unclear about something, you should ask them about it. By doing this you can clear up any confusion (困惑) before moving on. ❸Share your own ideas with other people. When you have a new idea, talk about it with your team members. This helps to make the idea better. Besides, it also helps to make your relationships with your team members better. ❹Create an environment where everyone feels comfortable expressing their thoughts and opinions without fear. This builds trust, leading to a more harmonious (和谐的) team. By the way, regular (定期的) team meetings should be held to discuss something important and necessary. 1. How does the writer start the text? A. By telling a story. B. By showing a saying. C. By asking a question. D. By explaining an idea. 2. According to the passage, what might happen if a team leader often criticizes team members? A. Team members will work harder to avoid making mistakes. B. Team members will become more independent and solve problems on their own. C. Team members will gradually keep themselves away from the leader. D. Team members will express their opinions more actively to prove themselves. 3. What is the writer’s advice if someone shares their ideas with you? A. To take notes while listening. B. To ask them to move on quickly. C. To share my interest with them warmly. D. To listen to them actively and think carefully. 4. Which of the following does the writer probably agree to do? A. Show no interest in others’ silly ideas. B. Holly Root Gutteridge and her team did experiments (实验) with 24 gray wolves in five zoos and wildlife parks in Spain. The team played recordings of strangers’ voices to the wolves first. Then, they played the voices of the wolves’ keepers who spoke familiar words to them in Spanish, like “Hey, what’s up, wolves?” The wolves showed an interest by raising their heads or their ears, and turning towards the speakers. To make sure this wasn’t just a coincidence (巧合), the researchers played the recordings of strangers again and found that the wolves lost interest. Finally, to be certain that the wolves really knew their keepers’ voices, the team had the keepers say unfamiliar words, and the results were the same. Root Gutteridge pointed out that it was surprising that wolves evolved (进化) separately from humans millions of years ago, could still distinguish human voices. Before this study, there isn’t much research on how animals tell the difference between the sounds of other kinds. We already knew that gorillas (大猩猩) can listen to people. But now, with this new finding, Root Gutteridge believes that many other kinds might also be listening to us and getting to know us. And it’s not just us they’re paying attention to. Dogs might even be listening to their neighbors’ cats and understanding the differences in their sounds. From the research, if animals have this general ability, it means they might be having more interactions (互动) with other kinds than we thought before. 6. What does the study show about wolves? A. They are only familiar with their own voices. B. They can recognize familiar human voices. C. They can reply to strangers better than dogs. D. They can make sounds similar to human voices. 7 What is the right order of following events according to Paragraph 3? ①The team played familiar words from the wolves’ keepers. ②The team played recordings of strangers’ voices. ③The team played the recordings of strangers again. ④The team had the wolves’ keepers say unfamiliar words. A. ①②④③ B. ①②③④ C. ②①③④ D. ②①④③ 8. The underlined word “distinguish” in Paragraph 4 means _______. A. tell B. copy C. record D. produce 9. Which of the following is TRUE? A. The team did experiments with five gray wolves. B. The wolves showed interest by shouting loudly to the speaker. C. Much research shows that animals pay attention to different sounds. D. The research Root Gutteridge did is of great importance. 10. How is the passage organized? (①= Paragraph 1;②= Paragraph 2…) A. B. C. D. 【答案】6 B 7. C 8. A 9. D 10. There he taught English at a local school and became the only westerner there living among local people. This gave him ___40___ chance to get close to the local culture. In the book, he describes the hutong and the shouts of street sellers in a lively way that makes you feel like you’re right THE LAST DAYS there. Some of the great changes in this neighborhood ___41___ (see) by Meyer. The old houses made way for high-rise buildings, shopping malls and other symbols of modern city life. However, some MICHAEL MEYER parts of old Beijing’s culture ___42___ (stay) strong in the face of the rapid change so far. People still kept traditions ___43___ putting up Spring Festival couplets (对联) and artists worked hard to pass down skills like acrobatics (杂技). Meyer shows us how these traditions helped people hold onto their roots ___44___ (wise) as old buildings went away around them. ❸Share your own ideas with other people When you have a new idea, talk about it with your team members. Team members will express their opinions more actively to prove themselves. 3 What is the writer’s advice if someone shares their ideas with you? A. To take notes while listening. B. B A study has found that wolves, just like dogs, can recognize (辨别出) and reply better to the voices of people they are familiar with than to strangers. C They can reply to strangers better than dogs. D. They can make sounds similar to human voices. 7. What is the right order of following events according to Paragraph 3? B. C. D.
