They are the sort of friends who are so close that they trust each other with their lives. If one falls, the other is there to catch him.
They are Wellman whose legs were permanently (永久地) injured nine years ago in a rock-climbing accident, and Corbett, an experienced rock climber. Together, they climbed up Half Dome, the famous 2,000-foot rock in the Yosemite National Park, through one of the most difficult routes (路线).
During the climb, Corbett took the lead, hit in the metal spikes (尖状物) that guided the ropes and climbed up. Then, after Wellman pulled himself up the rope, Corbett went down to remove the spikes and climbed up again. This process was repeated time and again, inch by inch, for 13days. Wellman’s job was not easy, either. He got himself up the rope through his upper body strength alone. In all, Wellman figured that he had done 5,000 pull-ups up the rope on the climb.
However, when the two men first met, they never talked about climbing. “He knew that was how I got injured,” Wellman said. Until one day Wellman decided that he wanted to climb again and they started training.
Their climb of Hall Dome was not all smooth. At one point, pieces of rock gave way, and Corbet dropped down quickly. Wellman locked their rope in place, stopping the fall at 20 feet. His quick action probably saved his friend’s life.
“Your partner can save your life. You can save your partner’s life,” Wellman said as the pair received congratulations from friends. “There are real close ties.”
4. Why did the two men never talk about climbing when they first met?
A. Corbett was poorly trained.
B. Corbett didn’t want to hurt Wellman.
C. Wellman had lost interest in climbing.
D. Wellman was going in for another sport.
5. What do we know about Wellman?
A. He climbed Half Dome by himself.
B. He was disabled when climbing rocks.
C. He was saved by Corbett during the climb.
D. He climbed through his lower body strength with Corbett.
6. Which of the following was a challenge for Corbett in climbing Half Dome?
A. To lock the rope in place.
B. To do 5,000 pull-ups up the rope.
C To climb up to remove the spikes.
D. To climb it again after falling down.
7. The main idea of the passage is that ______.
A. friendship is precious in life B. two heads are better than one
C. the disabled should never give up D. a man can be destroyed but cannot be defeated
【答案】4. B 5. B 6. D 7. A

【5题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段“They are Wellman, whose legs were permanently (永久地) injured nine years ago in a rock-climbing accident, and Corbett, an experienced rock climber.(他们分别是Wellman和Corbett,Wellman的腿在九年前的一次攀岩事故中永久地受伤了,而Corbett是一个专业的攀岩者)”可知,Wellman在攀岩时,腿永久性地受伤了,因此变成残疾了。故选B。
【6题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段“During the climb, Corbett took the lead, hit in the metal spikes (尖状物) that guided the ropes and climbed up. Then, after Wellman pulled himself up the rope, Corbett went down to remove the spikes and climbed up again.(在攀爬过程中,Corbett领先,插入引导绳索的金属钉,爬了上去。然后,在Wellman把自己拉上绳子后,Corbett又下去取钉子,然后再爬上去)”可知,在他们一起攀爬半圆顶时,Corbett需要爬上去后又下去取钉子,然后再爬上去,因此他需要下去后再爬一次。故选D。
【7题详解】
主旨大意题。根据文章第一段““They are the sort of friends who are so close that they trust each other with their lives. If one falls, the other is there to catch him.(他们是如此亲密的朋友,以至于他们彼此相信。如果一个人摔倒了,另一个会接住他)”可知,文章主要通过两位可以性命相托的朋友一起攀爬著名的半圆顶的故事的讲述,强调了友谊的珍贵。故选A。

It looks like it could be the child of Pixar movie characters, Wall-E and Eve, but the tiny robot developed by Anki is real enough to hold in your hand.
Cozmo is a tiny robot equipped with a powerful brain and an emotion engine, allowing it to get close to humans. The robot, which is worth $180, reacts to your emotions and remembers the faces it’s seen before, communicating through facial expressions and its own unique language.
The hand-sized robot is made up of more than 300 parts, and the creators describe him as lovable and a bit naughty. Although he is small, Cozmo is very intelligent.
Cozmo checks his environment all the time, and when he sees a face he knows, his eyes will light up in recognition. When put on his charging dock (充电座) , Cozmo goes to sleep, even snoring (打呼噜) as he rests. The robot engages with humans to play games and get to know you over time, and has a “dynamic soundtrack (动态音效) ” that changes depending on his mood or the current activity.
With Cozmo’s unique abilities, the researchers aim to bring the magic of robotic characters to life. “We’ve had this promise in science fiction about all the robots that could exist. But in reality, what we have are robots that have been used for industrial, space and research applications,” said Boris Sofman, CEO of Anki. “But there have been very few applications where a robot really feels like a character that connects with humans around them.”
The team combines PhD persons who are expert in the field of robotics with game developers and even a lead designer of Batman’s car to create a real-life robotic character that can form connections with humans. He may be playful, but Cozmo’s emotions aren’t limited only to expressions of happiness. If you treat him badly, the tiny robot just might be angry.

Shortly after a 6.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Dingri county in Southwest China’s Xizang autonomous region on Jan 7, Air China, the nation’s flag carrier, took action to supply necessary airlift assistance, ensuring that key personnel and supplies quickly reached the most heavily affected areas.
About five and a half hours after the earthquake, Air China’s CA4431 flight landed at Dingri Airport. It was the first flight to arrive in the county after the disaster (灾害) , carrying relief (救济) personnel and supplies. Over the following two days, the airline continued its support by transporting rescue teams and relief supplies, including medicine, to the disaster zone and its vicinity.
On the morning of Jan 8, a disaster relief flight, CA049, flew 42 airport support personnel from Lhasa, the capital city of the Xizang autonomous region, to Dingri to provide support for rescue operations.
Later that day, in response to a request from the China Foundation for Rural Development to transport disaster relief supplies, Air China established a green channel for the task and worked overnight to organize operations and adjust aircraft capacity (能力) . On Jan 9, flight CA4401 transported 6 metric tons of tents provided by the foundation from Chengdu, the capital city of Southwest China’s Sichuan province, to Lhasa. The tents were handed over to the local government upon arrival and then sent to the disaster-stricken area.
Air China immediately started its emergency response plan and set up a task force concentrating on relief efforts following the earthquake. The task force focused on arranging rescue flights, managing flight changes and cancellations, and preparing critical supplies such as meals and oxygen bottles, according to the company.
The airline increased its capacity for transporting relief supplies by using larger aircraft. Additionally, special policies were introduced for flights to the Xizang autonomous region, and relevant information was made available on the airline’s official website, mobile application, and WeChat mini-program. The earthquake hit Dingri county at 9:05 am on Jan 7 from a depth of 10kilometers.

On the journey of life, Father’s love is like a lighthouse, quietly guiding and protecting us through the stormy seas and the calm waters. My dad was a cleaner in my school. When I was 12, I decided to study hard to have a life different from his.
One day when Dad asked me to play basketball with him, I just replied, “I’m busy. I want to work hard so that I can become a rich man. I don’t want to be a cleaner like you, Dad!” He was shocked, but I didn’t care and continued studying hard. Finally, I graduated from high school with honors, and decided it was time to break free from my dad and follow my dreams.
“Dad, I got a scholarship (奖学金) to a law school in California,” I told him. “I’ll leave in three days.” My dad was surprised but proud of me. As I left for the airport three days later, he said, “Son, wherever you go, welcome back home.” I ignored his words and flew to California.
After I graduated, I found a great job there. Later, I became a manager and earned much money. I no longer remembered my father was a cleaner. I had forgotten my dad, who was still cleaning my school. I seldom answered his calls, sent him a message or wrote back to him. I was busy; I still had a lot more to achieve.
With time, the more success I tasted, somehow, the lonelier I became. I felt especially lonely on my 31st birthday. I kept checking my phone, hoping someone wished me a happy birthday. But there wasn’t a single call or message. Later that evening when I returned home from my office, something in my mailbox drew my attention.
“A letter?” I whispered and saw it was from my father. He never forgot to mail me a letter for each of my birthdays. However, I never took the trouble to read it. “How did I ignore him?” I thought. I brought the letter home and took out his earlier letters. And I opened one. It read, “Wherever you are, I love you forever. I wish you a happy life.”
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】“What did my father express to me in the other letters?” I wondered. I picked up another letter and read it, “Son, I’m really proud of you every day, every minute, and every second.” After I read all the letters, tears rushed out of my eyes. I was touched by my dad’s deep love for me and felt so regretful for not valuing it! Later, my dad sent me a message, saying happy birthday to me. A few days later, I made a decision to head for my hometown. I packed my things and went to the airport to meet my dad after so many years. “Will he be happy to see me? How will I face him?” I asked myself.
Soon the airplane got to the city my father lived in. I took a taxi and arrived at my dad’s house and saw him sitting alone in the yard. He looked up and rose in surprise and with delight. He hugged me and cried before I could even greet him. “I’ve been waiting for your coming every single day, son!” he wept on my shoulder. I quit the job in California and lived with my dad. I realized money isn’t everything. It cannot buy things that are as precious as love and family.

They are the sort of friends who are so close that they trust each other with their lives. If one falls, the other is there to catch him.
They are Wellman, whose legs were permanently (永久地) injured nine years ago in a rock-climbing accident, and Corbett, an experienced rock climber.
B He was disabled when climbing rocks.
C. He was saved by Corbett during the climb.
D. He climbed through his lower body strength with Corbett.
6. Which of the following was a challenge for Corbett in climbing Half Dome?
A. To lock the rope in place.
B. To do 5,000 pull-ups up the rope.
C. To climb up to remove the spikes.
D. To climb it again after falling down.
7. The main idea of the passage is that ______.
A. friendship is precious in life B. two heads are better than one
C. the disabled should never give up D. a man can be destroyed but cannot be defeated

注意:1.续写词数应150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
“What did my father express to me in the other letters?” I wondered.
