第二部分 阅读理解(共三节,满分30分)
第一节(共5小题;每小题1. 5分,满分7. 5分)
根据短文内容,判断正误(正确“T”,错误“F”)。
Many people say that they are working too many hours. They don’t have enough time to relax or to stay with their family.
Work hours are different from one country to another. In France, people spend about 1,646 hours a year at work. In Japan, however, people work about 2,159 hours a year. That means a Japanese worker works 513 more hours a year than a French worker. Why do people work so many hours? Some people work extra (额外的) hours because they want to make more money. However, many companies don’t pay overtime. Their workers don’t get more money for more work. Some people think it’s their duty to work more hours. Some are afraid of losing their jobs if they don’t work more hours.
Many people say that their vacations are too short. In France, people get five weeks of paid vacation a year. In Germany, they get four to six weeks, and in the United States, two weeks. One study shows fewer than half of workers used all their vacation days. In Britain, there is a saying, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull (迟钝的) boy.” If that is true, there must be a lot of dull people in the world.
21. Work hours are quite the same from one country to another.
22. A Japanese worker works 531 more hours a year than a French worker.
23. People have different ideas for working more hours.
24. In some countries, people can get paid vacations.
25. The passage is about how to spend the vacations properly.
第二节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分)

Schools in Beijing offer more break-time activities for students. Over the break times between classes, students often rushed to the toilet and back to class with no time for anything else. This left them with little opportunity to relax or socialize. But now that has changed. Students can have more time to rest and share interesting things with their classmates. Starting this fall term, students at primary and middle schools in Beijing have longer breaks between classes, changing from 10 minutes to 15 minutes. The “change” is meant to encourage students to spend time outdoors for their physical and mental (心理) well-being.
To make the most of this extended break time, schools have come up with creative ideas. Some schools have mixed break time with labor education (劳动教育) by opening planting areas and animal breeding zones (饲养区). Here, students can closely observe the life cycles of animals and plants. There are fewer students sitting at their desks. Some play with these cute animals, while others exercise on the playground. This not only allows them to get closer to nature but also helps them relax. Amazing, right?
Moreover, some schools have opened up activity areas both indoors and out-doors. For example, at one school in Beijing, the ground floor of the teaching building has opened a biology lab for students to study the life cycles of animals and plants. The second-floor corridor (走廊) is designed with spaces for free reading and chess games. With the longer break time, safety is also a top concern. PE teachers are always on duty, carefully watching over students playing on the ground to ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable break.
31. What do students often do between classes before?
A. Talk with their classmates. B. Rush to the toilet and back to class.
C. Have more time to rest. D. Share interesting things with their classmates.
32. What does the word “change” in the first paragraph refer to?
A. The shorter breaks between classes. B. The longer breaks between classes.

A. Students can do more things if the break time between classes is longer.
B. Only middle schools in Beijing have longer break time between classes.
C. Every school has mixed break time with labor education already.
D. No one sits at their desks during the break time now.
35. Which of the following words may best describe the students’ mood (心情) for the longer break?
A. Worried. B. Sad. C. Happy. D. Upset.

Have you ever had the strange idea of spraying mosquitoes (向蚊子喷水) with a showerhead? It’s quite an interesting experiment. As we know, mosquitoes are small flying insects that can spread diseases. Even though a water drop is 50 times heavier than a mosquito, mosquitoes often manage to survive (幸存) this watery attack. But why? Do you want to know the reason? We might come up with several guesses.
Here are four guessing reasons: some people think mosquitoes fly at such high speeds that they can quickly escape the falling water. Others believe they can swim, or that they are waterproof (防水的). Some also guess that water drops can’t strike their vulnerable spots (要害部位). In reality, the correct reason is that water drops can’t hit the parts of a mosquito’s body that would be the vulnerable spots. That’s to say, small as mosquitoes are, it is hard for water drops to hit the parts of their body that would kill them.
When a water drop hits a mosquito, it usually hits its legs. The mosquito can find its balance again quickly—in one hundredth of a second! Raindrops can be harmful to larger insects like dragonflies (蜻蜓). However, mosquitoes are so lithe that the water simply carries them away. All they have to do is break free from the water drop and continue their flight. What’s more, mosquitoes use their exoskeleton (外骨骼) to avoid getting hurt. Without it, they would be harmed by the high speed of raindrops. Scientists have drawn inspiration from these tiny mosquitoes. They’ve used this knowledge to create much smarter drones (无人机) that can fly steadily in the rain. Isn’t it fascinating how nature can teach us so much and lead to such cool inventions?
36. Why can’t the mosquitoes be hurt by the water drops according to the text?
A. Because the mosquitoes fly so fast that they can escape easily.
B. Because water drops can’t hit mosquitoes’ vulnerable spots.
C. Because the mosquitoes can swim.
D. Because the mosquitoes are waterproof.
37. What does the underlined word “lithe” mean?
A. Light. B. Heavy. C. Strong. D. Big.
38. Where does a water drop often hit a mosquito?
A. The mosquito’s neck. B. The mosquito’s arms.
C. The mosquito’s legs. D. The mosquito’s back.
39. What can we know from the text?
A. The mosquito can find its balance quickly when the water drop hits it.
B. Without the exoskeleton, the mosquitoes still can avoid getting hurt.
C. Dragonflies can’t be hurt by the raindrop either.
D. Scientists have learned from mosquitoes to make smarter cars.
40. What does the passage mainly talk about?
A. How mosquitoes spread diseases. B. The importance of exoskeletons in mosquitoes.
C. Why mosquitoes can survive water attacks. D. The design ideas from mosquitoes.

A Day to Remember
Last Sunday was a really great day, and I will always keep it in my heart.
In the morning, my parents and I chose to go to the museum. I was excited since I knew there were plenty of fascinating things waiting for us. When we got there, I saw some ancient paintings. The paintings had bright colors, showing beautiful landscapes. I was really amazed and told my mom, “I think these are the most beautiful artworks I’ve ever seen. ”
It was a day full of joy. I hope I can have more days like this in the future.
