2023-2024学年北京期末真题
(23-24高一下·北京海淀·期末)As a clueless freshman, I waltzed into my first creative writing course by accident, thinking it was a literature class on how to read stories, not how to write them.
When the teacher introduced the course, I realized my mistake. The credits I earned from the course wouldn’t count toward my major. By the end of the session, however, I decided that I had to be a part of the course. Perhaps, as a lifelong reader, I was eager to understand how stories worked their magic.
But taking the class would be impossible: I wasn’t even on the waitlist. That’s when the teacher asked for a volunteer to submit the first workshop story.
Silence blanketed the room. No one risked eye contact. Whoever volunteered would have to write a whole story in a week. Perhaps they, like me, had never written one before.
Seizing my chance, I raised my hand and asked, “If I go first, will you give me a spot in the class?” He said he would.
So, instead of keeping my head down and avoiding eye contact, I did the opposite.
Years later, I’d completed a degree in creative writing and was working on a novel when a literary agent asked to read the first 50 pages of my draft. But I wasn’t comfortable showing her anything; the novel was far from done.
Throughout graduate school, I’d been advised many times not to contact agents until I have a complete draft. In the meanwhile, I knew the beginning of my story was attractive and that the agent might not remember me after a year.
So, once again, instead of keeping my head down and avoiding eye contact, I did the opposite. I sent her the first three chapters. A month later, she signed me on the strength of those chapters alone. She has since seen me through the publication of three novels.
Determination, focus, perseverance-the qualities that I consider crucial in getting me into Stanford no doubt helped me become the novelist I am today. And yet if I’d trained my gaze only on the path ahead, I would have missed so many happy accidents, so many beautiful opportunities to look up, raise my hand, and say yes.

(23-24高一下·北京顺义·期末)Liu Lingli has been a teacher for hearing-damaged children for 33 years. Thanks to her help and commitment, more than 20 of the over 80 students she has taught have received higher education.
Liu’s first communication with disabled people was with one of her neighbors, Mrs. Wang. “Even as a child, I was moved by her finger movement, and thought it would be great if she could speak,” Liu said. After graduation, she became a teacher of special education, and taught Chinese to first graders.
She remembers clearly that there were 14 students in her class, from 6 to 12years old, with several of them being intellectually (智力上地) challenged. “Facing the special children, I was at a loss and thought about quitting,” she said. She then thought about her neighbor Mrs. Wang and the pain on her face when she could not make people understand what she was trying to say. That made her determined to go after “special education”.
Although she was only 18 at the time, she treated the students as her children, and practiced sign language in front of the mirror for one to two hours every day till she could show it successfully. With great care and patience, she also taught the students how to wash their faces and clothes, and make everything neat and tidy, becoming the “mother” of the students.
“If the children receive early training and treatment, they could probably speak and thus have a better future,” she said. To help her students speak, she put her lips (嘴唇) against their hands to let them feel the movement of the lips and the running of the air, while allowing the students to put their hands around her neck and on her nose so they could learn how the voice was made.
Apart from teaching her class together, she also has one-on-one classes with each student for 20 minutes every day. As a result, she usually has a painful throat at the end of the day.
With Liu’s tireless efforts, her students show great improvement. “Whenever they managed to say ‘mom’ or ‘dad’ for the first time, I felt it was the sweetest sound in the world,” she said.

(23-24高一下·北京丰台·期末)“A bird with a broken wing will never fly as high.” I’m sure that T. J. Ware was made to feel this way almost every day in school. By high school, T. J. was the most celebrated troublemaker in his town. He was always impolite, didn’t answer questions and got into lots of fights.
I met T. J. for the first time at a weekend leadership program. At the start of the program, T. J. was literally standing outside the circle of students with that “go ahead, impress me” look on his face. The ice really melted (融化) when the groups started building a list of positive and negative things that occurred at school that year. T. J. had brilliant thoughts on those situations. The other students in T. J.’s group welcomed his comments. All of a sudden T. J. felt like a part of the group, and before long he was being treated like a leader.
The next following days, T. J. was very active in all the sessions. Later he joined the Homeless Project team. He knew something about poverty, hunger and hopelessness. The other students on the team were impressed with his passionate concern and ideas. By the end of the program, the students elected T. J. co-chairman of the team. Many people couldn’t believe that the principal (校长) would allow this crucial beginning to a three-year action plan to stay in the incapable hands of T. J. Ware.
Two weeks later, T. J. and his friends led a group of 70 students in a drive to collect food. They collected a school record: 2, 854 cans of food in just two hours. As the local newspaper covered the event with a full-page article, T. J. started showing up at school every day and answered questions from teachers for the first time. Later, he led a second project, yielding 9,000 cans of food in one day and taking care of 70 percent of the needed food for the homeless shelter for one year.
T. J. reminds us that a bird with a broken wing only needs mending. But once it has healed, it can fly higher than the rest. T. J. got a job. He became productive. He is flying quite nicely these days.

C.Being the co-chairman of the team. D.Gaining group members’ recognition.
3.What can be learnt from the story?

C.Do not judge a book by its cover. D.Birds of a feather flock together.
(23-24高一下·北京石景山·期末)Andy rode slowly to school, daydreaming about the fishing trip his father had promised. He was so absorbed in his thoughts that he didn’t notice anything around him.
He rode along until a strange sound drew him to the present. He came to a stop and looked curiously up to the heavens. What he saw shocked and terrified him. A huge swarm of bees filled the sky like a black cloud and the buzzing mass seemed to be heading angrily towards him.
With no time to waste, Andy sped off in the opposite direction, riding furiously — but without knowing how to escape the swarm. With a rapidly beating heart and his legs pumping furiously, he sped down the rough road. As the bees came closer, his panic increased. Andy knew that he was sensitive to bee stings (蜇). The last sting had landed him in hospital — and that was only one bee sting! He had been forced to stay in bed for two whole days. Suddenly, his father’s words came to him. “When you are in a tight situation, don’t panic. Use your brain and think your way out of it.”
He saw smoke rising from the chimney of the Nelson family home on a nearby hill and remembered that bees dislike smoke. However, he realized he couldn’t reach the house in time.
Then, he spotted a small dam used by Mr. Nelson to irrigate (灌溉) his garden. Without hesitating, Andy jumped off his bike and dived into the cool water, sinking below the surface to escape the bees. When he finally came up for air, the bees were gone. Exhausted, Andy climbed out of the dam, struggled up the hill, and rang the Nelsons’ doorbell. Mrs. Nelson brought him inside and called his mother.

(23-24高一下·北京通州·期末)It was the day of the big cross-country run. Students from seven different primary schools in and around the small town were warming up and walking the route through thick evergreen forest. I looked around and finally spotted David, who was standing by himself off to the side by a fence. He was small for ten years old. His usual big toothy smile was absent today. I walked over and asked him why he wasn’t with the other children. He hesitated and then said he had decided not to run. What was wrong? He had worked so hard for this event!
I quickly searched the crowd for the school’s coach and asked him what had happened. “I was afraid that kids from other schools would laugh at him,” he explained uncomfortably. “I gave him the choice to run or not, and let him decide.” I bit back my frustration (懊恼). I knew the coach meant well — he thought he was doing the right thing. After making sure that David could run if he wanted, I turned to find him coming towards me, his small body rocking from side to side as he swung his feet forward.
David had a brain disease which prevented him from walking or running like other children, but at school his classmates thought of him as a regular kid. He always participated to the best of his ability in whatever they were doing. That was why none of the children thought it unusual that David had decided to join the cross-country team. It just took him longer — that’s all. David had not missed a single practice, and although he always finished his run long after the other children, he did always finish. As a special education teacher at the school, I was familiar with the challenges David faced and was proud of his strong determination.
David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. The race started. The route seemed long, especially for a child with a brain disease. David insisted on running as if he had forgotten all his weaknesses. He tripped within the first few kilometers but quickly picked himself up and continued. Classmates cheered, “Come on! You can make it! We’re proud of you!”
To everyone’s joy, he reached the finish line and ranked 20th. It wasn’t important whether he won first place. It was his brave heart and strong faith that made something unusual happen.
1.Why did the coach ask David to make the decision?
A.The coach didn’t want David to get injured. B.The coach thought David was too weak to run.
C.The coach feared David would be made fun of. D.The coach believed David should focus on his studies.
2.How did David’s classmates view him at school?
A.They felt sorry for him. B.They saw him as a normal kid.
C.They often played tricks on him. D.They prevented him from activities.
3.What can we learn from David’s story?
A.He won first place with other’s help.
B.He was the most modest among all the children.
C.His behaviors proved his heart disease was a problem.
D.His determination and faith made the achievement special.
(23-24高一下·北京西城·期末)The first time Terry attended a meeting of the Tahquamenon Sportsmen’s Club, they made him vice president—and he wasn’t even a member. By his second visit, the few members left in the dying organization had put him in charge of the whole thing.
The club began in the 1920s. Back then, hunting and fishing were pastimes in rural areas. The culture, however, is different now. When Terry took over the century-old club, it was on its last legs. Only a couple dozen members remained, and most were older than its new 68-year-old president. They were no longer doing the things they’d been known for. Worst of all, their famous fishing tackle party had been canceled twice, once just because they simply didn’t have enough members to pull it off.
He wanted to push hard to keep the organization going, because it is one of the things that make up the heart and soul of Newberry. He had to look for new members. He needed to broaden the club’s offerings to attract younger people. More than anything else, he had to make sure the tackle party for kids took place once again.
Little by little, Terry’s efforts worked. People began asking about memberships. Some sent contributions. Others offered their time. A local company donated new siding for the clubhouse. Someone else said they would put a new roof on it. Someone came and mowed the lawn (草坪) when it got long in the summer. Others cleared the snow in the winter. All over town, people and businesses promised to help the club survive and succeed.
On the day of the annual Kids Tackle Party, hundreds of kids and their families appeared. Terry started the event with a speech. A local fishing expert gave tips on how to catch fish. Then, one at a time, each of the 245 kids was called by name, and every one of them got a fishing pole and a tackle box. It took more than three hours to get through everyone who showed up. It was a big event, one that came close to dying, but was finally back.

Weeks later, it was finally Christmas. When he ran down the stairs, he saw lots of parcels under a tall Christmas tree in the living room. He stopped dead before the tree, looking for his present.

(23-24高一下·北京朝阳·期末)Steph put some flowers “borrowed” from her neighbour Mrs Robinson’s garden next to her cold breakfast and costly plates, and took a photo. She wanted to brighten the colours on her picture. Choosing a filter (滤镜), she noticed TrueBeauty downloaded before. Her picture looked perfect with that filter. She posted it on the social media for her 15k followers, hoping they would wish to have the same life as she showed. Then she threw away the food now that it was cold.
Steph was surprised to get so few likes and so many negative comments. She looked again at the picture she had posted. Her picture showed a horrible breakfast with flies all over them and the flowers were dead. She tried to delete (删除) the photo, but she couldn’t. Just then, she received a message. Steph read:

Steph had enjoyed herself a lot. They took a picture, standing together in front of the roses and smiling.
Later that evening Steph looked at the picture on her phone. She changed the colours a little bit. The roses looked beautiful anyway, with or without any changes. I am fortunate to be able to spread the energy of Mulan through dance. I think Mulan was not only a strong person, but also a woman who was capable of great love and wisdom, and had the ability to accept everything.” Hao said.
Hao said that the first practices for Hua Mulan did not go very smoothly. However, she pushed her limits to get closer to the character. She described taking the role as a learning experience and a great challenge.

(22-23高一下·北京海淀·期末)Sports have been a big part of my life. I played flag football in elementary school and middle school. In high school, before I got hurt, I was on the swim team and track team.
It was the summer going into my senior year when I was hit by a car. The doctor informed me that there was no hope of full recovery. As a sixteen-year-old boy, you have a lot of self-doubts and are trying to find out who you are. So, you throw in an accident on top of that and it kind of threw a loop into things for me. It was definitely hard, the physical pain of therapy, and learning how to live life. And there was the emotional pain, too. The mental suffering of being paralyzed (瘫痪) is more severe than the physical pain.
When I was in the hospital, one of the guys from the University of Wisconsin (UW) that played on the Whitewa ter wheelchair basketball team visited. He told me about adaptive sports, and I thought that sounded good. He gave my information to the local junior wheelchair basketball coach in Milwaukee. I started playing that October.
Playing basketball was a really good thing for me. It let me see a bunch of different people in the same situation as me. It was good to have a group of friends for support.
I studied at Southwest Minnesota State University for three years and then transferred to UW-Whitewater for my senior year. I was invited in 2013 to try out for the National Team and made it. That was always my goal. A lot of people would ask me what my backup plan was——I didn’t have one, to be honest.
The Paralympics is the pinnacle of our sports. It’s been pretty easy for me to stay motivated. We were the best team in the 2016 Paralympics. And this team was way too good just to win one medal, so I had to be back in 2020.
I’m not sure right now about getting ready for the 2024 Paralympics. The team is growing and going through some turnover. I honestly don’t know what my future holds. I just want to be around the people that I care about and care about me—— whether that’s on the National Team, or just my friends back home. They are my security blanket, the good people in my life.
However, one thing I’m sure is that playing basketball is still number one, with a focus on the Paralympics.
Now I am signed as a player with a team over in Spain and I’m exploring what the next chapters of my life might be like.

A.How playing basketball empowered the author.

1.What made the author finally decide to take the course?
A.The popularity of the course. B.Her confidence in her writing skills.
C.Her curiosity about story writing. D.The need to get credits for her degree.
2.The author volunteered to write the first workshop story to ________.
A.challenge herself B.win a place in the class
C.display her talent D.impress the teacher
3.The author sent her first three chapters to the agent because ________.
A.she wanted to get the chance of publication
B.her story was attractive to readers
C.the agent asked her to turn in the work
D.her friends advised her to do so
4.What does the passage mainly tell us?
A.Action speaks louder than words.
B.Confidence leads to growth and fulfillment.
C.Success comes to those who dare.
D.Chance favors only the prepared mind.

2.Liu felt it was ________ for the children in her class to get early training.
A.entertaining B.difficult C.helpless D.necessary
3.Liu helped her students speak by ________.
A.showing sign languages to them
B.using colorful facial expressions
C.allowing them to touch her lips and neck
D.asking them to follow what she said repeatedly
4.According to the passage, which of the following is TRUE?
A.Liu makes great efforts for the students’ improvement.

1.At first, what was T. J. known for in the town?
A.Misbehavior and rudeness. B.Popularity in his group.
C.Poor academic performance. D.Activeness in class discussion.
2.What changed T. J.’s attitude towards the program?
A.Getting support from the principal. B.Joining the Homeless Project team.
C.Being the co-chairman of the team. D.Gaining group members’ recognition.
3.What can be learnt from the story?
A.Like teacher, like pupil. B.Never fish in troubled water.

Relieved, his mother said, “You’ll really need that fishing break to help you recover. Thank goodness you didn’t panic!” But Andy was already lost in his dream about catching fish the next day.

【答案】1.C 2.B 3.D

Terry fought to keep the club and party for kids, a longtime tradition in the Newberry community, going. Traditions are dying these days, but he was able to get people to hold onto this one.
1.When Terry took over the club, ________.
A.he was the youngest member B.hunting was a popular pastime
C.the culture of the club remained D.the club was struggling to survive
2.To keep the organization going, what did Terry put at the top of his to-do list?
A.Broadening people’s minds in Newberry.
B.Searching for help from his neighborhood.
C.Ensuring the return of the tackle party for kids.
D.Offering appealing activities to attract new members.
3.What did the townspeople do to help the club?
A.They grew grass. B.They removed the snow.
C.They donated fishing poles. D.They fixed the clubhouse roof.
4.What can we learn from the story?
A.Interest does not lie. B.The discovery of tradition matters.
C.Sometimes hard work doesn’t pay off. D.A hero shows up during challenging times.

Weeks later, it was finally Christmas. When he ran down the stairs, he saw lots of parcels under a tall Christmas tree in the living room. He stopped dead before the tree, looking for his present.

So, you throw in an accident on top of that and it kind of threw a loop into things for me.( 作为一个16岁的男孩,你有很多自我怀疑,并试图弄清楚你是谁。所以,你在那上面加上一个事故,这使对我陷入一个循环。)”可知,that指代上文提到的“a lot of self-doubts and are trying to find out who you are.”,也就是作者对自己的怀疑,故选C。
2.细节理解题。根据第四段“Playing basketball was a really good thing for me. It let me see a bunch of different people in the same situation as me. It was good to have a group of friends for support.( 打篮球对我来说是一件非常好的事情。它让我看到一群和我处境相同的不同的人。有一群朋友支持是件好事。)”可知,打轮椅篮球让作者重拾激情。故选A。
3.推理判断题。根据倒数第三段的“I’m not sure right now about getting ready for the 2024 Paralympics.( 我现在还不确定是否为2024年残奥会做好了准备。)”可推断,作者想要在2024年残奥会上打篮球。故选C。
4.主旨大意题。根据第二段的“It was the summer going into my senior year when I was hit by a car.( 在我进入大四的那个夏天,我被车撞了。)”,第三段的“He gave my information to the local junior wheelchair basketball coach in Milwaukee. I started playing that October.( 他把我的信息给了密尔沃基当地的青少年轮椅篮球教练。那年10月,我开始打球。)”,第四段“Playing basketball was a really good thing for me. It let me see a bunch of different people in the same situation as me. It was good to have a group of friends for support.(打篮球对我来说是一件非常好的事情。它让我看到一群和我处境相同的不同的人。有一群朋友支持是件好事。)”以及倒数第二段“However, one thing I’m sure is that playing basketball is still number one, with a focus on the Paralympics.(然而,有一件事我很确定,那就是打篮球仍然是第一位的,重点是残奥会。)” 故选A。
