Passage 1
Everyone wants to be attractive to others. To that end, having a good personality is quite important—probably even more so than good looks. In fact, most of your success and happiness will be a result of how well you interact ( 互动) with others. Therefore, it is your personality that leads to whether people are attracted to, or shy away from you.
While we can only change our looks to a certain degree, we can improve our personality as much as we want. We can develop or integrate (整合) any characteristic we think fitting and agreeable into our personalities.
One way is to listen to others attentively. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis was considered one of the most charming women in the world because she formed the skill of being an excellent listener. She was known for the way she would look a person in the eyes, hang on their every word, and make them feel important. There is nothing more attractive than having someone listen to you attentively making you feel like you’re the only person in the world.
Having an opinion is also important. There is nothing more boring than trying to talk to someone who has no opinion on anything. A conversation has nowhere to go if you have nothing to focus on. If, however, you have an uncommon point of view or different opinion, you are more interesting to be with socially.
What’s more, have a positive attitude. Who wants to be around people who are negative, complain a lot, or have nothing good to say? Everyone enjoys the company of someone who makes them laugh or smile, so look for the humorous and lucky side in a situation—there always is one. When you can add fun and lightheartedness to a dull or grey setting, others will naturally be attracted to you.
Last but not least, treat people with respect. Being honest and true to your word will bring you the admiration, respect and gratitude of others. Nothing improves a person’s personality more than honesty and respect—respect for others, as well as respect for yourself.
We humans have the power and ability to shape our personalities however we wish. When we develop ourselves to be all that we can be, we bring happiness to our own as well as to others.

3.The word “dull” in Paragraph 5 is closest in meaning to ________.

Passage 2
As teenagers grow up, they start to make their own decisions. However, during this period, if left unchecked, could lead to more serious ones when they become adults. To prevent harmful habits from controlling a teenager’s life is important. They must learn to recognize bad habits early and make proper changes.
To change bad habits is never easy. In many ways, our lifestyle is the sum of choices we have made. We make a choice to do something, and then we repeat it over and over again. Soon that choice forms a habit that is much harder to change. The good news is that we can change
According to modern psychology, we must first learn about the “habit cycle”, which works like this.
Firstly, there is a “cue”, an action, or situation that acts as a signal to do something.
Secondly, there is a “routine”, the regular (有规律的) response (反应) to the cue.
Thirdly, there is the “reward”, the good thing or feeling we get from the routine.
For example, when we feel unhappy (cue), we eat lots of unhealthy snacks (routine) (reward). The reward makes us much more likely to continue the cycle, and the bad habit of depending on unhealthy snacks is formed.
To facilitate (促进) a positive change in our bad habits, we must first examine our habit cycles and then try to change them. For example, when we feel unhappy again, rather than eat snacks, which will make us feel relaxed. Aside from changing bad habits, we can also use the habit cycle to create good habits. For example, our normal routine is to ride it, but we could change this routine into something more positive taking the stairs instead.
Many of us try to change bad habits quickly, and if we are not successful straight away, we often give up. In fact, a person must show some self-control and repeatedly take many small steps.
For young people, there is plenty of time to change bad habits. However, there s no “magic pill”.
1. Which of the following means “the three periods of the habit cycle”?
A. B. C. D.
2. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Repeating a choice to do something helps to form a good habit.
B. To improve the routine of the habit cycle helps to create good habits.
C. Young people can change habits easily because they have enough time.
D. The most successful way of changing a bad habit usually takes less time.
3. What is the passage mainly about?
A. The importance of forming good habits.
B. Suggestions for young people’s lifestyles.
C. How to change bad habits for a healthy life.
D. What to do to avoid forming unhealthy habits.
