The cartoon film Nezha tells the story of a boy born with a “demon (魔鬼) mark”. People think he will bring
disaster. However, Nezha refuses to accept this fate (命运 ). With his parents’ love and his own strong will, he
finally changes his fate and becomes a hero.
Nezha’s journey reminds me that no one can decide who we are except ourselves. When others called him a
“monster”, he didn’t give in to their prejudice (偏见 ). Instead, he showed his kindness and bravery through
actions. This taught me that labels (标签) don’t decide who we are — our choices do.
Nezha’s parents never gave him up, even when the whole world feared him. Their love gave him the strength
to fight for his future. It made me realize how lucky I am to have my family’s encouragement when I face
difficulties.
Finally, the movie shows that changing fate requires effort. Nezha trained hard to control his powers. In real
life, if we want to achieve something, we must work for it. Success doesn’t come from luck but from persistence.
This movie is not just fun to watch. It teaches us about being brave, loving our family and never giving up.
26. What was Nezha born with?
A. A lucky sign. B. A demon mark. C. A king’s name. D. A special skill.
27. What did Nezha do when people called him “monster”?
A. He accepted the fate sadly.
B. He gave in to their prejudice.
C. He showed he was kind and brave.
D. He became angry and worse.
28. What gave Nezha the strength to fight for his future?
A. His magical powers.
B. His parents’ love.
C. The villagers’ support.
D. His teacher’s training.
29. What does the word “persistence” mean in the fourth paragraph?
A. Giving up easily. B. Waiting for luck. C. Keeping trying. D. Asking others for help.
30. What is the movie mainly about?
A. Prejudice is always right.
B. Magic can solve all the problems.
C. Family is more important than friends.
D. We can change our fate if we try with bravery.

Green is an important color in the nature. It is the color of grass and the leaves on trees. It is also the color of
most growing plants.
Sometimes, the word green means young, fresh and growing. Sometimes, it describes something that is not
yet ripe or finished. For example, a green hand is someone who has no experience, or who is new to a situation.
Someone who has the ability to grow plants well is said to have a green thumb (拇指 ). A person with a green
thumb seems to have a magic touch that makes plants grow quickly and well. You might say that the woman next
door has a green thumb if her garden continues to grow after your plants have died.
The Green Revolution (革命) is the name given some years ago to the development of new kinds of rice and
other grains. The new plants produced much larger crops. The Green Revolution was the result of hard work by
agricultural scientists who had green thumbs.

Maps mark seas, countries, cities and our homes, and guide us through the world. To know them better, let’s
take a look at how maps have changed over the centuries.
Many ancient countries used maps. One of the ancient maps used to be drawn on the wall in Lascaux, France,
around 16,500 years ago. It is a map of the stars hidden among the drawings of birds and bulls. The Babylonian
(巴比伦的) Map of the World is the oldest map of the earth, which shows Babylon and its nearby towns on the
stone.
Ptolemy, born in Egypt around 100 AD, was the first person to try to make a world map. With the help of
math, Ptolemy marked around 10,000 locations from Britain to Asia and Africa.
The most commonly used world map was introduced in 1569 by Mercator. An important art of the map is the
imaginary lines of longitude (经线), latitude (纬线)and the equator. Mercator made the globe flat, but to do this
he had to make the further north and south larger, while the areas in the middle stay the right size. The reason for
this is that Earth is like a ball, but a map is flat. It is easy to find places, but some people said it was unfair because
places including Canada, the UK and even the whole Europe looked much bigger than they really were.
In the 19th and 20th centuries, modern technology allowed map makers to produce maps showing locations
exactly. Today, many people watch maps on their phones. Researchers are working to show the floor of the oceans
and even every tree on the maps. Scientists are also trying to show the past on the maps by using the James Webb
Space Telescope (詹姆斯·韦伯太空望远镜). If they succeed, this kind of maps may help find the secrets about
the beginning of the universe.

Dogs are people’s friends, but they may attack if they are scared. It is helpful to know what to do in case you
find yourself in that situation.
Stay calm and do not be afraid. It is said that dogs can smell fear, and they are less likely to attack if you’re
relaxed. 41 When a dog goes near, stand still with your hands at your sides and avoid eye contact — this
may make the dog lose interest.
Attract the dog with another object. If the dog continues to threaten you, offer them something to chew on,
such as your backpack or water bottle. The dog may run after these instead of you. 42 If an angry dog
goes near you, throw your treats or toys away from you.
Fight back if the dog rushes at you and won’t stop. If the dog starts biting you, hit or kick the dog in the
throat, nose and the back of the head. This will stun (使昏迷) the dog and give you time to run away. 43
Hopefully others will hear and come to help you.
Get on the ground and protect yourself if it’s a larger, stronger dog. If you can’t hurt the dog, just protect
yourself. 44 Cover your face, chest and throat. The dog will be more likely to stop attacking you if it
thinks you’re no longer a threat.
45 If you are bitten, take care of the wound as soon as possible. First, stop bleeding with gentle
pressure. Then, clean the wound with warm water and soap. Third, see a doctor right away to prevent rabies (狂犬
病).
