根据Author标题下的“Mark Wise M.D. is a family doctor specializing in travel and tropical medicine. He has travelled to South America, Haiti, India, Nepal, Kenya, Tanzania, Senegal, Ghana, Uganda and Rwanda. Dr. Wise is also a medical advisor to several non-governmental organizations and frequently lectures on travel health.(Mark Wise医学博士是一名家庭医生,专门从事旅行和热带医学。 Mark Wise’s book is a commonsense, comprehensive guide to health, whether travel is for business or pleasure.(马克·怀斯博士的书是一本常识性的、全面的健康指南,无论旅行是为了商务还是娱乐)”可推知,这是Barb和Ron Kroll对于这本书的书评。故选A。 B As a hockey parent, while watching my son played from Mite to Bantam, House League to Travel, I’ve learned that losing may be best for kids. In his third season in 2019, my son’s team never lost more than three straight games. There was happiness, boasting, celebration, pizza. In short, it was a typically good youth hockey season. He improved as a player, but did not much change as a person. However, what happened the next year added its story to the legends of sporting incompetence. Not merely weak but prettily bad, this team lost 40 of their first 50 games, most of the defeats coming in the course of two losing streaks. For a time, I worried that these streaks would kill my child’s love of the game. But that’s not what happened. As bad as it got, the losing was clarifying. It weeded out the kids who were in it less for the game than the glory, leaving just the die-hards behind. What started as a list of 17 of the team was cut down to 12. It was especially instructive for the kids. It taught him a great truth of the world: For everyone good, there is someone better. What’s more, the kids were learning the game in a way that only losing can teach. Each player got to play everywhere, to learn and appreciate the role of every position on the ice. They kept an eye on their opponents too, studying and incorporating the tricks of success. In an effort to break the streak, they went back to basics, accepted the wisdom of the hockey ancients: If playing like a team, they can defeat a collection of all-stars; If doing small and unappreciated tasks well, they can get the goal. This new team had character and could never be counted out, no matter the score. They had learned the most important lesson: You can lose without being beaten. They squeaked into the state tournament, then made it all the way to the final, where the winner was decided in overtime. When they lost that game and went into the handshake line, it was not as runners-up but as a team that had been made into winners in the only way that will stick — by losing. 4. What does the author think about the son’s team in the third season in 2019? A. The team had a bad performance. B. The team didn’t live up to the author’s expectations. C. The team played typically well and won all the games. D. The team didn’t have the spirit of facing failure. 5. What does the underlined word “clarify” refer to? A. The losing made the kids better understand hockey. B. The losing helped the kids learn a great truth of the world. C. The losing separated true player from those playing for glory. D. The losing boosted the kids’ teamwork. 6. According to the author, what have the son’s team learned? A. For everything big, there is something bigger. B. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. C. God helps those who help themselves. D. The hardest battle you’re going to fight is the battle to be just you. 7. What is the best title for the passage? A. How Kids Can Deal With Losing B. What Kids Can Learn From Losing C. Why Kids Can Benefit From Losing D. How Kids Can Get Over From Losing 【答案】4. D 5. C 6. A 7. 根据第二段“In his third season in 2019, my son’s team never lost more than three straight games. There was happiness, boasting, celebration, pizza. In short, it was a typically good youth hockey season. He improved as a player, but did not much change as a person.(2019年是我儿子的第三个赛季,他所在的球队从未输过3场以上的比赛。有快乐,有吹嘘,有庆祝,有披萨。简而言之,这是一个典型的优秀青年曲棍球赛季。作为一名球员,他有了进步,但作为一个人,他并没有太大的变化)”可知,2019年的第三个赛季,作者儿子的球队非常优秀,虽然失败过,但是还是很开心,并没有真正体会到失败带给他们的影响。由此推知,作者认为儿子的球队缺乏面对失败的精神。故选D。 【5题详解】 指代猜测题。根据划线单词下文“It weeded out the kids who were in it less for the game than the glory, leaving just the die-hards behind.(它淘汰了那些不是为了比赛,而是为了荣誉的孩子,只留下了顽固分子)”可知,虽然孩子的球队比赛失败,但是失败让一切变得很明朗,因为这淘汰了那些不是为了比赛,而是为了荣誉的孩子,只留下了顽固分子。 根据最后一段中的“They had learned the most important lesson: You can lose without being beaten. They squeaked into the state tournament, then made it all the way to the final, where the winner was decided in overtime. When they lost that game and went into the handshake line, it was not as runners-up but as a team that had been made into winners in the only way that will stick — by losing.(他们学到了最重要的一课:你可以输但不被打败。他们勉强进入州锦标赛,然后一路进入决赛,在加时赛中决出冠军。当他们输掉比赛,进入握手的行列时,他们并不是作为亚军,而是作为一支以唯一的方式——失败——成为赢家的球队)”可知,作者儿子的团队虽然失败了,但他们不断进步,不断面对更大的挑战,成为更好的自己。由此可推知,作者认为,孩子们学到的教训是:对于强大的挑战,要不断进步,因为总有更大挑战在等着你。故选A。 通读全文,尤其是第一段中的“I’ve learned that losing may be best for kids.(我明白了输球对孩子来说可能是最好的)”和最后一段中的“They had learned the most important lesson: You can lose without being beaten. They squeaked into the state tournament, then made it all the way to the final, where the winner was decided in overtime. When they lost that game and went into the handshake line, it was not as runners-up but as a team that had been made into winners in the only way that will stick — by losing.(他们学到了最重要的一课:你可以输但不被打败。他们勉强进入州锦标赛,然后一路进入决赛,在加时赛中决出冠军。当他们输掉比赛,进入握手的行列时,他们并不是作为亚军,而是作为一支以唯一的方式——失败——成为赢家的球队)”可知,文章主要讲述了作者的孩子和其队友打曲棍球,他们从不断的失败中学到了一些教训。由此可知,B选项“What Kids Can Learn From Losing(孩子们能从失败中学到什么)”适合作文章最佳标题。故选B。 C How long does it take you to make a cup of tea? Forty seconds, if you press the tea bag against the side of the mug. I’m not judging — that was me until recently, and we are not alone. Only 4% of people in the UK make their tea from leaves, and it seems the rest of us are missing out. I’ve dipped in and out of tea over the years, and have never taken it quite as seriously as coffee, but this long holiday seems as good a time as any to up my game. Previously, I’d been put off by the complexity of the process, but it turns out that a proper cup of tea from leaves doesn’t have to require a whole lot of tools. The game-changer for me was tea-ière, which is a bit like a cafetiere (咖啡壶). So, where to start our new adventure? The obvious answer, particularly this New Year weekend, is China, which is to tea what France is to wine. The country produces every imaginable style, from delicate green tea to refreshing jasmine tea. If you’re used to black tea, it’s probably best to begin with the rich oolong. And if you’re already into tea, prepare yourself for the mind-blowing puerh, which, according to my note, tastes of forest floor with a slight smell of shoe repair shop, and which, you’ll be relieved to hear, is a lot nicer than it sounds. It’s worth taking the trouble to get the basics right: the amount of tea, the quantity and temperature of the water, the ideal infusion (浸泡) time and, above all, pouring every last drop of tea from the pot. And if none of these will drag you away from tea bags, try loose tea leaves at least once infused for two to three minutes and see if you notice a difference. Watching those leaves magically spread out and thinking about what you are drinking is strangely comforting in a bitter winter. 8. What can we know about tea drinking in the UK? A. British people take tea less seriously than coffee. B. Most people prefer tea bags to loose tea leaves. C. It takes 40 seconds to prepare a tea bag. D. One might be judged if not using tea bags. 9. What did the author discover about drinking tea from leaves? A. It takes more effort than drinking coffee. B. It turns out to be tool-free. C. It’s fun and entertaining. D. It’s easier than anticipated. 10. How does the author present his idea in paragraph 3? A. By analyzing figures. B. By presenting options. C. By drawing conclusions. D. By describing experiences. 11. What could be the most suitable title for the passage? A. Why Not Go For Chinese Tea? B. How To Pick The Right Tea? C. Loose Tea Leaves, Or Tea Bags? D. Fancy A Better Way Of Drinking Tea? B 9. D 10. B 11. 根据第一段中的“Forty seconds, if you press the tea bag against the side of the mug. I’m not judging — that was me until recently, and we are not alone. Only 4% of people in the UK make their tea from leaves, and it seems the rest of us are missing out.(40秒,如果你把茶包压在马克杯的一边。我不是在评头论足——这是最近之前的那个我,我们并不孤单。在英国,只有4%的人用茶叶泡茶,而我们其他人似乎都错过了)”可知,在英国仅有4%的人喝散装茶叶冲泡的茶,而96%的人是喝茶包泡制的茶。由此可知,大多数人喜欢茶包而不是散装茶叶。故选B。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中的“Previously, I’d been put off by the complexity of the process, but it turns out that a proper cup of tea from leaves doesn’t have to require a whole lot of tools.(以前,我一直被这个过程的复杂性所困扰,但事实证明,一杯用茶叶冲泡的像样的茶不需要很多工具)”可知,用茶叶冲泡茶并没有作者之前所想象的那么复杂。 根据第三段最后两句“If you’re used to black tea, it’s probably best to begin with the rich oolong. And if you’re already into tea, prepare yourself for the mind-blowing puerh, which, according to my note, tastes of forest floor with a slight smell of shoe repair shop, and which, you’ll be relieved to hear, is a lot nicer than it sounds.(如果你习惯了红茶,那么最好从浓郁的乌龙茶开始。如果你已经开始喝茶了,那就为这道令人大开眼界的普洱做好准备,根据我的笔记,它尝起来像森林地面,有一点修鞋店的味道,而且让你听起来你会松一口气的是,它比听起来美味多了)”可知,作者在向读者介绍乌龙茶和普洱茶这两种不同的茶叶种类,并且描述了其产品特色。由此推知,作者通过呈现不同的选择表达了自己的观点。故选B。 【11题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段最后一句“Only 4% of people in the UK make their tea from leaves, and it seems the rest of us are missing out.(在英国,只有4%的人用茶叶泡茶,而我们其他人似乎都错过了)”以及最后一段第一句“And if none of these will drag you away from tea bags, try loose tea leaves at least once infused for two to three minutes and see if you notice a difference.(如果这些都不会把你从茶包里拖走,试着把松散的茶叶至少浸泡一次,浸泡两到三分钟,看看你是否注意到了不同)”可知,本文主要在向绝大多数喝茶叶包的英国读者推荐散装茶叶这种更好的饮茶方式。 D。 D Electric cars have been gaining popularity in recent years, and for good reason. Not only are they cost-effective in the long run, but they also offer many benefits for the environment. Here are three reasons why electric cars are great for the planet. One of the biggest advantages of electric cars is that they produce zero emissions (排放). Unlike gasoline cars that emit harmful pollutants into the air, electric cars are powered by electricity that is generated from renewable sources such as wind or solar power. This means that when you drive an electric car, you’re not only saving money on gas, but you’re also helping to improve air quality. Electric cars also save more energy than gasoline cars. When you drive a gasoline car, only about 20% of the energy made by the fuel is actually used to move the car forward. The rest of the energy is lost to heat and other things. Electric cars, on the other hand, convert (转化) almost 100% of the energy stored in the battery into motion. This means that electric cars can travel further on the same amount of energy, which is great news for the environment. Another benefit of electric cars is that they reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. Gasoline cars are powered by gasoline, which is a non-renewable resource that is taken from the earth. As we continue to use gasoline, we’re using the earth’s natural resources and contributing to climate change. By driving electric cars, we can reduce our need for gasoline and move towards renewable sources of energy. In conclusion, electric cars offer many benefits for the environment, including zero emissions, energy efficiency, and reduced need on fossil fuels. As more people make the switch to electric cars, we can help to create a cleaner and more sustainable future for ourselves and for future generations. 12. What’s an advantage of electric cars from the text? A. They are costly. B. They run faster. C. They are eco-friendly. D. They use less energy. 13. Where does most of the energy in gasoline cars end up in? A. The motion to move a car. B. The heat and other things. C. The storage to travel further. D. The money saved to buy a new car. 14. What can be known about the impact of gasoline cars? A. They help to clean the air. B. They give out harmful gases. C. They consume fuel completely. D. They have a promising future. 15. What may the follow-up paragraph focus on? A. The future of the next generation. B. The skills for the young to drive a car. C. The development of green economy. D. The way to produce more electric cars. C 13. B 14. B 15. 根据文章第一段“Not only are they cost-effective in the long run, but they also offer many benefits for the environment.(从长远来看,它们不仅具有成本效益,而且还为环境带来了许多好处)”及最后一段“In conclusion, electric cars offer many benefits for the environment, including zero emissions, energy efficiency, and reduced need on fossil fuels.(总之,电动汽车为环境带来了许多好处,包括零排放、提高能源效率和减少对化石燃料的需求)”可知,环保是电动汽车的一个优势。 根据文章第三段“When you drive a gasoline car, only about 20% of the energy made by the fuel is actually used to move the car forward. The rest of the energy is lost to heat and other things.(当你驾驶汽油车时,实际上只有大约20%的燃料能量用于推动汽车前进。剩下的能量被热量和其他东西消耗掉了)”可知,汽油车的大部分能源最终都消耗在高温和其它东西上。故选B。 【14题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第二段“Unlike gasoline cars that emit harmful pollutants into the air, electric cars are powered by electricity that is generated from renewable sources such as wind or solar power.(与向空气中排放有害污染物的汽油车不同,电动汽车由风能或太阳能等可再生能源发电)”可知,汽油车排放有害气体。 根据文章最后一段“As more people make the switch to electric cars, we can help to create a cleaner and more sustainable future for ourselves and for future generations.(随着越来越多的人转向电动汽车,我们可以为自己和子孙后代创造一个更清洁、更可持续的未来)”可知,未来会有越来越多的人转向开电动汽车,那么接下来的段落可能会介绍生产更多的电动汽车的方法。 The Importance of Being Independent The ability to be independent is something not everyone possesses. ___16___ And learning to support yourself is fundamental for any success you ever hope to achieve. At the end of the day, you only have yourself to fall back on, so it’s very important to be able to handle things on your own. People rely on others far more than it is necessary. People put their happiness in the hands of a significant person, thinking this will bring them satisfaction.___17___ Should you always be dependent on someone else? Of course not. ___18___ Therefore, you need to learn how to make decisions on your own. People are unable to be independent for a variety of reasons, with fear being the biggest: the fear of being alone, the fear of rejection and the fear of the future. However, there is no reason to base your life decisions on relationships with people. All relationships end at some point or another. ___19___ The only thing you can do is alter your understanding of relationships. Instead of expecting them to make you happy by being in your life and providing enjoyment, appreciate the time spent and enjoyment since you know it will be gone. ___20___ Don’ t ask for advice , do what you want and learn from your own mistakes. Many people are afraid to think for themselves because that involves taking responsibility for their own lives. This is just one way people become dependent. We are born alone and we die alone, so we each have to take responsibility for our lives at every step along the way. A. There is nothing you can do to change or affect that. B. This is a serious error too many people make these days. C. Make decisions by and for yourself, whatever they may be. D. You can control your own life by making your own choices. E. However, you need to be independent in order to survive in the world. F. In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is wait for the right time. G. Not only are you limiting yourself, you are also likely to become a burden to this person. E 17. B 18. G 19. A 20. 【16题详解】 根据空前“The ability to be independent is something not everyone possesses.(独立的能力不是每个人都具备的。)” 而空后“And learning to support yourself is fundamental for any success you ever hope to achieve.(学习支持自己是你想要获得成功的基础。)” E“However, you need to be independent in order to survive in the world.(然而,为了在这个世界上生存,你需要独立。)” 【17题详解】 根据空前“People rely on others far more than it is necessary. People put their happiness in the hands of a significant person, thinking this will bring them satisfaction.(人们对别人的依赖远远超过了必要的程度。人们把自己的幸福交到重要的人手里,以为这会给他们带来满足。)”可知,人们总是过度依赖别人。而根据下文“Should you always be dependent on someone else? Of course not.(你应该一直依赖别人吗?当然不是。)”可判断,总是依赖他人是不对的。选项B“This is a serious error too many people make these days.(这是现在很多人犯的严重错误。)” 【18题详解】 根据空前内容“Should you always be dependent on someone else? Of course not.(你应该一直依赖别人吗?当然不是。)”可知,我们不应该总是依赖别人。选项G“Not only are you limiting yourself, you are also likely to become a burden to this person.(你不仅限制了自己,还可能成为对方的负担。)” 【19题详解】 根据空前内容“However, there is no reason to base your life decisions on relationships with people. All relationships end at some point or another.(然而,没有理由把你的人生决定建立在与人的关系上。所有的关系都有结束的时候。)”可知,所有的关系都有结束的时候;而根据下文“The only thing you can do is alter your understanding of relationships.(你唯一能做的就是改变你对人际关系的理解。)” A“There is nothing you can do to change or affect that.(你无法改变或影响这一点。)” 故选A。 根据下文内容“Don’ t ask for advice , do what you want and learn from your own mistakes. She was too weak to go out at all, which was sad and disappointing. That was because Grandma and Grandpa had been planning to take my little sister Indi and me to the zoo for Valentine's Day. Grandma, as an animal lover, had been especially looking forward to it. On Valentine's Day Indi begged Grandma to go to the zoo together. But Grandma jokingly explained that if she went there, she might spread her cold to other visitors, or even to the animals, making them all start sneezing. In my mind, I imagined the sight that an elephant kept sneezing. Meanwhile I made my arm into a trunk and blurted out a funny trumpeting sound that ended in a gigantic sneeze. "Good one, Brother!" Indi laughed. "That elephant would need a huge box of tissues.” Grandma was amused. But she insisted that she should stay at home and rest up. She wished us a pleasant visit and reminded us to send her regards to the monkeys in the zoo. Well, we did go and we did have a great time but I kept wishing Grandma could have been there with us. When we reached the monkey mountain, Grandpa told us to hold still and say “cheese" and snapped a good picture of the monkeys and us. “Cheese!” I said. But Indi said, “Happy Valentine's Day, Grandma!” "You were supposed to say cheese." said Grandpa. Indi shrugged, “It just came out.” "I'm glad it did" I said, because your words just gave me a fantastic idea! What if we take pictures of different animals, and then turn them into a special Valentine gift for Grandma?" Indi and Grandpa agreed and we kept taking pictures with delight for Grandma's surprise. 注意: 1、所续写短文的词数应为150左右; 2、续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好。 Paragraph 1: When we got home, we set about making the gift. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Then we took the gift upstairs to Grandma’s room. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Paragraph 1: When we got home, we set about making the gift. At first, we printed the photos and planned to fill them on the heart cards. “But we have limited room!” complained Indi. So we agreed to make Grandma a Valentine zoo book. The book included various animals, each occupying a page. Indi was responsible for coloring the photos with markers while I made speech balloons coming out of animals’ mouths. For example, the monkeys said, “We go bananas with you.” Finally, we stuck the cards together to form a book with Grandpa’s help. It took forever to finish but it turned out great. Paragraph 2: Then we took the gift upstairs to Grandma’s room. “I bet she’d like it.” Grandpa said. Indi and I nodded with agreement. On entering the room, Indi rushed to present Grandma with our creation. When browsing the Valentine book, Grandma was deeply moved and happy tears blurred her eyes. “Oh, you little sweet potatoes!” Grandma smiled, “I love you.” It seemed that the love and devotion behind our gift had turned Grandma’s frown upside down. At that moment, it suddenly dawned on me that in terms of a gift, what matters much is not the gift but the care you show. 词汇激活 行为类 ①打印:print/mimeograph ②粘贴:stick/paste ③赠送:present/give away ④翻阅:browse/flip through 情绪类 ①感动:moved/touched ②高兴的:happy/delighted 【点睛】[高分句型1]It seemed that the love and devotion behind our gift had turned Grandma’s frown upside down.(由连接词that引导的表语从句) [高分句型2]At that moment, it suddenly dawned on me that in terms of a gift, what matters much is not the gift but the care you show.(由连接词that引导的主语从句,what引导的主语从句及that引导的定语从句,省略了引导词that) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 2024-2025学年固始县一高二高二模联考 高三英语试题卷 注意事项: 本试卷分四部分,考试时间120分钟,满分150分。 1. B As a hockey parent, while watching my son played from Mite to Bantam, House League to Travel, I’ve learned that losing may be best for kids. How Kids Can Get Over From Losing C How long does it take you to make a cup of tea? C It’s fun and entertaining. D. It’s easier than anticipated. 10 How does the author present his idea in paragraph 3? A. By analyzing figures. B. By presenting options. C. By drawing conclusions. D. By describing experiences. 11. What could be the most suitable title for the passage? A. Why Not Go For Chinese Tea? B. How To Pick The Right Tea? C. Loose Tea Leaves, Or Tea Bags? D. Fancy A Better Way Of Drinking Tea? D Electric cars have been gaining popularity in recent years, and for good reason. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 The Importance of Being Independent The ability to be independent is something not everyone possesses. ___16___ And learning to support yourself is fundamental for any success you ever hope to achieve. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
