第11课时 八年级(下) Units 34
一、阅读理解
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
Like most parents, mine spent much time advising me to take part in activities outside school. However, they never forced me, and I never found anything I was interested in. Then one day a friend at school told me about a local dance group and asked if I wanted to go with her. So after school we went to talk to the dance teacher. She explained everything to us and we both decided to join.
My parents were really pleased to hear I had finally chosen dancing. They think if you develop an interest in doing something by yourself, it will be easier to succeed.
Ive now been having the dancing classes for 3 years and I really enjoy it. We are organized into age groups, and at 16 Im now in the oldest class. There are classes of swing dance, ballet(芭蕾舞), street dance and folk dance. I practice street dance and Im quite good at it. I also help lead some of the younger children.
We also take part in events like local and even national dance shows, and relatives turn up to see their children perform. My parents are proud of me as they tell me all the time.
Now Ill be too old to continue dancing with the group. However, I have already made plans to continue with them. The dance school has become very successful and is opening new classes. The director has asked if Id like to be one of the group leaders and of course I said “yes”!

Trust has been considered as the basis of any relationship, including friendship. No relationship can last long without trust. 1. Sometimes it takes years, even a whole life to make it. We certainly know who are the people we trust. However, how do we know if others trust us?
2. You may first like to talk to the friends you trust most. It is the same with your friends.
Whom do you ask for advice when you need it the most? Either your parents or your friends may first come into your mind. You only ask for advice from the people you really trust. You know they will never pass on a wrong suggestion. And so do they. 3. Different ideas and discussions are a part of every relationship, and this is also true for friendship. Actually, two people cant always have the same opinions on a situation and they may share different suggestions. Sometimes some people find it hard to forgive(原谅) and forget. 4. There are times in life when you find yourself a lonely soldier. 5. Your friends will never let you down and will strongly stand for you when you need encouragement. If they side with you when you need them the most, you can know that they trust you. (2024宿迁宿豫一模)

I still remembered the day at the age of 16. In the early morning, my father told me I could drive him to a village, about 18 miles away, on condition that I took the car to be 1 at a nearby garage(汽车修理厂). Having just learned to drive and hardly ever having a chance to use the car, I happily accepted. I drove Dad into the village and 2 to pick him up at 4 p.m., and then drove to a nearby garage. Because I had a few free hours, I decided to 3 a couple of movies at a theater near the garage. When the last movie finished, it was six oclock. I was two hours 4 !
I knew Dad would be angry if he 5 Id been watching movies. So when I drove up to the place where we had planned to meet and saw Dad waiting 6 , I said sorry and told him that I had come as quickly as I could, but the car had needed some additional repairs.
“Im 7 that you feel you have to lie to me, Jason.”
“What do you mean? Im telling the 8 .”
Dad looked at me again. “When you didnt show up, I called the 9 . They told me that they had finished the repairs but you had not yet picked up the car. So you see, I know there was 10 wrong with the car.” I had to admit my trip to the movie theater.
“Im angry, not with you 11 with myself. I have failed because I have brought up a son who cannot even tell the truth to his own father. Im going to 12 home now and consider where I have gone wrong all these years.”
“But Dad, its 18 miles from home. Its dark. You cant walk home,” I cried.
Dad didnt listen to me. 13 , he began walking along the dark roads, silently, thoughtfully and painfully. For 18 miles I drove 14 him.
This is the saddest experience that I have ever had. It was also the most successful 15 . I have never lied to my father after that. (2025原创)
