Casa Nova, the restaurant where he works, is a temple to the art of slow, soulful cooking. It’s the kind of place that, using only what is naturally abundant, relies on age-old methods and the particularities of a region’s land, climate and cultures. Many of Torres’s cooking techniques fit in with his commitment to sustainability. He has seen enough of the world to know how vital it is to preserve the planet’s resources. “Sustainability is very popular in restaurants all over the world,” he says. “But there’s a lot of nonsense out there. For me, sustainability is something very simple.” To that end, Casa Nova has egg-laying hens, beehives(蜂房)to make honey, and an enormous vegetable land. So far, admittedly, these are fairly standard eco practices. But Torres even produces his own salt, risking out in a boat to collect Mediterranean seawater. He’s created a stone “insect hotel” to support pest-eating insects that protect crops without the need for pesticides(杀虫剂). Rainwater is gathered in containers previously used to mature wine, and then used on the vegetables. Plates and cups are made by Torres’s wife. And instead of using dehydrators(脱水剂),as many high-end restaurants and industrial producers do, Torres built his own drying room and smokehouse. Environmentalism is only part of the story he wants to tell. The restaurant he runs helps fund Global Humanitaria, a nonprofit he set up in 1999 to support education and children’s rights across the world and provide emergency relief for victims of conflict and natural disasters. 24. What is special about Casa Nova? A. Its unique location. B. Its artistic decoration. C. Its self-sufficient cooking. D. Its centuries-old history. 25. What does Torres think of sustainability in restaurants? A. It’s crucial and workable. B. It’s widespread and effective. C. It’s unsystematic and immature. D. It’s unnecessary and impractical. 26. According to Torres, which behavior is more sustainable? A. Using pesticides to protect crops. B. Buying salt from local markets. C. Building high-end smokehouses. D. Watering the vegetables with rainwater. 27. What is the purpose of the Global Humanitaria? A. To share individual dining experiences. B. To fund Torres’ restaurant operations. C To develop new cooking techniques. D. To promote public benefit initiatives. C A new study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, concludes that proper reductions in beef production, particularly in wealthier nations, could significantly slow down climate change by allowing forests to regrow on former grasslands. The study used remote sensing technology to map grassland productivity and estimate benefits of reducing beef production, finding that restoring all potentially forested grasslands globally could store 445 gigatons (千兆吨) of CO2 by 2100 — equal to amount of fossil fuel emissions (排放) over a decade. “We can achieve enormous climate benefits with proper changes to the total global beef production,” says Matthew N. Hayek, an assistant professor in New York University’s environmental studies department. “By focusing on regions with potentially high carbon sequestration (隔离) in forests, some restoration strategies could maximize climate benefits while minimizing changes to food supplies.” The team see high and upper-middle-income countries as possible candidates for forest restoration, where grass grows only during a short growing season. These regions, such as parts of North America and Europe, have some current grasslands that do not produce very much grass per acre, and thus have potential to grow thick forests able to absorb a lot of carbon. In contrast, lower-income regions like sub-Saharan Africa and South America, where much more grass can grow year-round, can contribute to balancing reduced production elsewhere. Matthew acknowledged that reforestation cannot replace cutting down on fossil fuel pollution, but works together with it to help fight climate change. “In many places, this regrowth could occur naturally without any human involvement. However, in some places, with especially damaged environments or soils, native and diverse tree-planting could give regrowth a helping hand,” says Matthew. Although the findings do not call for extreme changes to global food production, the team emphasizes that immediate action is essential to meet climate goals. Targeted policies are called for to prioritize forest recovery in high-impact areas — for instance, by offering beef producers rewards for forest land conservation or purchasing their company shares. 28. Why is “445 gigatons of CO2” mentioned in paragraph 2? A. To clarify a specific climate goal by 2100. B. To quantify the benefits of grassland recovery. C. To show the difficulty of cutting fossil fuel use. D. To highlight the role of remote sensing technology. 29 What can be learned about the grasslands in sub-Saharan Africa and South America? A. They are ideal for reforestation. B. They have a short growing season. C. They are expected to feed more animals. D. They have a low capacity for carbon absorption. 30. What policy is suggested for forest recovery? A. Limiting beef exports. B. Increasing agricultural taxes. C. Providing financial benefits. D. Introducing advanced technology. 31. What might be a suitable title for the text? A. Targeted Beef Cuts Bring Climate Benefits B. Grassland Expansion Ends Carbon Emissions C. Global Food Production Must Decrease Significantly D. Beef Industry Growth Promotes Environmental Health D In 1933, philosopher Bertrand Russell observed that “the fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are confident while the intelligent are full of doubt.” This insight remains relevant today, but the issue runs deeper: while most people recognize overconfidence in others, they rarely see it in themselves. This phenomenon, known as the Dunning-Kruger Effect, reveals that those with the least knowledge often overestimate their abilities, while the truly knowledgeable remain humble and open-minded. The internet exacerbates this problem. With endless access to information, people often mistake superficial understanding for professional knowledge, leading to overconfidence. Organizational psychologist Adam Grant addresses this in his book Think Again, urging readers to challenge and update their beliefs. Grant argues that we often adopt the mindsets of churchmen, lawyers, or politicians — defending our beliefs, attacking others’, or seeking approval — rather than seeking truth. To overcome this, Grant suggests separating our sense of self from fixed beliefs. Instead of sticking to beliefs, we should be open to revision. This scientific mindset encourages us to test ideas and update our understanding. Grant cites a study where entrepreneurs (企业家) trained in scientific thinking did better than their peers and achieved greater success, which highlights the value of open-mindedness and adaptability. In the final part of the book, Grant shows us how rethinking skills enhance political debates, teaching, and workplace innovation. Grant provides a host of illustrative examples, but my favorite is the example of a history teacher who gets her students to think like scientists by rewriting textbook chapters that failed to cover important historical events in sufficient depth. This is a far better approach than simply delivering a lecture and forcing students to review the information on a test. But of course, this book is not the final word on the topic, and Grant wouldn’t want it to be. As we gain better evidence and more experience, it’s our responsibility to continually renew our beliefs. As Russell said, “If you’re certain of anything, you’re certainly wrong, because nothing deserves absolute certainty.” 32. What problem do most people have? A. Decline in self-confidence. B. Concern about others’ doubts. C. Indifference to social problems. D. Unawareness of personal limitations. 33. What does the underlined word “exacerbates” in paragraph 2 probably mean? A. Creates. B. Fixes. C. Worsens. D. Prevents. 34. Which person could be an example in the final part of the book? A. A chef open to feedback. B. A scientist resistant to doubts. C. A doctor reliant on experience. D. A consumer blinded by brands. 35. Which of the following can be used to describe the book? A. Practical and conclusive. B. Insightful but not definitive. C. Informative and theoretical. D. Authoritative but not engaging. When was the last time you felt clear-headed? ___36___ We’ve accepted the constant stream of thoughts, the endless to-do lists, and that bothersome feeling of forgetting something important. This year’s theme was “Go Beyond”. My fingers held my pencil case tightly. Last year, my painting didn’t win anything. The judges didn’t say it was bad — they just walked past it without stopping. I remembered how my hands shook when I took it down after the contest. The memory still made me feel a little sad. “Are you joining again?” Emma asked, gently touching my arm. Her sketchbook (素描册) was open, showing a bright sunset she had drawn. The orange and pink colors looked so real, like you could feel the warmth from the paper. I took a deep breath. “I’m not sure,” I said quietly, rubbing my shoe on the floor. A black mark appeared where my toe dragged. “What if I fail again?” My voice came out smaller than I wanted. Emma smiled and turned to another page — a funny drawing of Jay Chou singing, his mouth open really wide. “Who cares about winning?” she said. “Remember that cartoon you drew of Taylor Swift? Everyone loved it! You should just paint what makes you happy.” “Your art is special. Just paint what you love!” Her smile was so confident that it made me want to believe her. For weeks, I thought about it. Every time I opened my sketchbook, I remembered last year — how I stood there, watching the judges pass by without a second glance. My chest felt tight when I thought about it. The blank pages seemed to stare back at me, but my fingers refused to pick up the pencil, as if frozen by last year’s disappointment. But Emma kept encouraging me. She left little notes in my locker, like “Keep trying!” and “I believe in you!”. One rainy afternoon, she surprised me by putting her best paint set on my desk. The plastic case clicked when she opened it, showing rows of bright colors. “Try these,” she said, handing them to me. Slowly, I started practicing again. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Finally came the day of the art contest! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025年普通高等学校招生全国统一考试 高三第三次联合诊断检测英语 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 做题时,请先将答案标在试卷上。 How much is the shirt? Actually, my journey started a bit later in life. Growing up in a small town, I never had a pet because my father’s illness. My 20s and early 30s were all spent on my career. It wasn’t until my mid-30s that my husband suggested we get a cat. We both agreed that adopting one would be the best choice. This was my first step into the world of animal rescue. We spent a few weeks working with a local animal shelter to find the perfect cat for us. Finally, we met Whiskers. Because of Whiskers, I started volunteering at the animal shelter on weekends. Over the next year, I fell in love with helping animals. After a year of volunteering, I was asked to help organize adoption events. I loved this role. Every weekend, I would bring the cats to meet potential adopters and share their stories. During my time there, I helped find homes for over 150 cats and even adopted two more cats of my own — Shadow and Luna. It feels amazing to see each cat find their forever home. It’s really rewarding to be part of such a wonderful community. A Summer holidays are coming around again. C. To develop new cooking techniques. D. To promote public benefit initiatives. C 25. A 26. D 27. 根据第一段“Casa Nova, the restaurant where he works, is a temple to the art of slow, soulful cooking. It’s the kind of place that, using only what is naturally abundant, relies on age-old methods and the particularities of a region’s land, climate and cultures.(他工作的 Casa Nova 餐厅是慢炖、深情烹饪艺术的殿堂。这是一个只使用自然丰富的食材,依靠古老的方法以及当地土地、气候和文化特点的地方)” 以及第二段“To that end, Casa Nova has egg - laying hens, beehives to make honey, and an enormous vegetable land.(为此,Casa Nova 有产蛋的母鸡、用于制蜜的蜂房和一大片菜地)” 可知,Casa Nova 餐厅在烹饪食材上基本可以自给自足。 根据第二段“He has seen enough of the world to know how vital it is to preserve the planet’s resources. “Sustainability is very popular in restaurants all over the world,” he says. “But there’s a lot of nonsense out there. For me, sustainability is something very simple.”(他见多识广,知道保护地球资源是多么重要。他说:“可持续性在世界各地的餐厅都很流行,但也有很多无稽之谈。对我来说,可持续性是非常简单的事情”)” 可推知,Torres认为可持续性很重要且是可行的。故选A。 根据第三段“Rainwater is gathered in containers previously used to mature wine, and then used on the vegetables.(雨水收集在以前用于陈酿葡萄酒的容器中,然后用于浇灌蔬菜)” 可知,用雨水浇灌蔬菜是Torres采用的可持续做法。 根据最后一段“The restaurant he runs helps fund Global Humanitaria, a nonprofit he set up in 1999 to support education and children’s rights across the world and provide emergency relief for victims of conflict and natural disasters.(他经营的餐厅为 Global Humanitaria 提供资金,这是他在 1999 年成立的一个非营利组织,旨在支持全球的教育和儿童权利,并为冲突和自然灾害的受害者提供紧急救援)” 可知,该组织的目的是促进公益事业。故选D。 C A new study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, concludes that proper reductions in beef production, particularly in wealthier nations, could significantly slow down climate change by allowing forests to regrow on former grasslands. 29. What can be learned about the grasslands in sub-Saharan Africa and South America? Beef Industry Growth Promotes Environmental Health 【答案】28. B 29. C 30. C 31. 根据第二段中“The study used remote sensing technology to map grassland productivity and estimate benefits of reducing beef production, finding that restoring all potentially forested grasslands globally could store 445 gigatons (千兆吨) of CO2 by 2100 — equal to amount of fossil fuel emissions (排放) over a decade.(该研究利用遥感技术绘制了草原生产率图,并估算了减少牛肉产量的好处,发现到2100年,在全球范围内恢复所有可能被森林覆盖的草原,可以储存4450亿吨二氧化碳——相当于十年来的化石燃料排放量)”可知,第二段提到“445千兆吨二氧化碳”是为了量化草原恢复的好处。 根据第四段中“In contrast, lower-income regions like sub-Saharan Africa and South America, where much more grass can grow year-round, can contribute to balancing reduced production elsewhere.(相比之下,撒哈拉以南非洲和南美洲等低收入地区,一年四季都能生长更多的草,有助于平衡其他地区减少的产量)”可知,撒哈拉以南非洲和南美洲的草原有望饲养更多的动物。 根据最后一段中“Targeted policies are called for to prioritize forest recovery in high-impact areas — for instance, by offering beef producers rewards for forest land conservation or purchasing their company shares.(需要有针对性的政策来优先在高影响地区恢复森林——例如,为牛肉生产者提供保护森林用地的奖励,或购买他们的公司股份)”可知,文章建议通过提供经济利益来促进森林恢复。 根据第一段中“A new study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, concludes that proper reductions in beef production, particularly in wealthier nations, could significantly slow down climate change by allowing forests to regrow on former grasslands.(发表在《美国国家科学院院刊》上的一项新研究得出结论称,适当减少牛肉产量,尤其是在富裕国家,可以通过让森林在以前的草原上重新生长来显著减缓气候变化)”结合文章主要讲述了一项新研究,表明适当减少牛肉产量,尤其是在富裕国家,可减缓气候变化,可知,A选项“有针对性地减少牛肉产量可带来气候效益”最符合文章标题。故选A。 D In 1933, philosopher Bertrand Russell observed that “the fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are confident while the intelligent are full of doubt.” This insight remains relevant today, but the issue runs deeper: while most people recognize overconfidence in others, they rarely see it in themselves. D 33. C 34. A 35. 根据第一段中“This insight remains relevant today, but the issue runs deeper: while most people recognize overconfidence in others, they rarely see it in themselves. This phenomenon, known as the Dunning-Kruger Effect, reveals that those with the least knowledge often overestimate their abilities, while the truly knowledgeable remain humble and open-minded.(这一观点在今天仍然适用,但问题更为深刻:虽然大多数人都能看到别人的过度自信,但他们很少看到自己的过度自信。这种现象被称为达克效应,它揭示了那些知识最少的人往往高估了自己的能力,而真正知识渊博的人则保持谦虚和开放)”可知,多数人问题在于无法意识到自身认知的局限性。故选D项。 【33题详解】 词句猜测题。根据划线词所在部分“The internet exacerbates this problem. With endless access to information, people often mistake superficial understanding for professional knowledge, leading to overconfidence.(互联网……这个问题。在无限获取信息的条件下,人们常将浅薄的理解误认为专业知识,导致过度自信)”可知,互联网让人们可以无限获取信息,但人们常将从互联网获得的浅薄理解误认为是专业知识,导致过度自信,所以互联网让问题变得更严重,加剧了人们的认知偏差问题。所以“exacerbates”的意思是“加剧”,与“worsens”同义。故选C项。 【34题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中“In the final part of the book, Grant shows us how rethinking skills enhance political debates, teaching, and workplace innovation. Grant provides a host of illustrative examples, but my favorite is the example of a history teacher who gets her students to think like scientists by rewriting textbook chapters that failed to cover important historical events in sufficient depth. This is a far better approach than simply delivering a lecture and forcing students to review the information on a test.(在书的最后一部分,格兰特向我们展示了反思技能是如何增强政治辩论、教学和工作场所创新的。格兰特提供了许多说明性的例子,但我最喜欢的是一位历史老师的例子,她通过重写教科书中没有充分深入介绍重要历史事件的章节,让她的学生像科学家一样思考。这比简单的讲课和强迫学生复习考试内容要好得多)”可知,书中推崇的案例需体现开放思维与反思能力,只有A项“接受反馈的厨师”能以开放的心态对待顾客的反馈,并根据反馈来反思,符合这一特质。故选A项。 根据末段中“But of course, this book is not the final word on the topic, and Grant wouldn’t want it to be.(当然,这本书并非该话题的终极结论,格兰特也不希望如此)”可知,该书具有启发性但非定论,与B项“Insightful but not definitive(富有洞见但非绝对)”相符。 When was the last time you felt clear-headed? ___36___ We’ve accepted the constant stream of thoughts, the endless to-do lists, and that bothersome feeling of forgetting something important. But there are ways to create a little breathing space. ● Write about your problems While it may sound strange, writing about the things that are contributing to the sense of overload can have a positive effect. It reduces bothersome thoughts and improves working memory, freeing up the mind for other mental activities. ___37___ Doing this daily can help clear out mental mess before it builds up. ● Connect physically ___38___ It is found that physical touch can reduce stress and promote overall well-being. A randomized clinical study from University of São Paulo also found that massage(按摩)can reduce stress and anxiety levels. So, whether you reach out to someone you love, or find a qualified massager, human contact can create calm. ● Try the two-minute rule This is a concept from David Allen’s productive book, Getting Things Done. His rule states that if the task that’s worrying you can be completed in two minutes or less, you should do it immediately rather than adding it to your to-do list. ___39___ It calms feelings of anxiety, and creates a sense of achievement. ● Make a “no thank you” list Sometimes the sense of overload is caused by unnecessary tasks and responsibilities. Are there any activities or opportunities that you can say “no thank you” to? It can be hard to say no, but the relief of taking something off your plate might be worth it. ___40___ By saying “no” to low-priority tasks, you create space to focus on what matters most. A. Massage helps lower stress and anxiety. B. Create a list of activities you choose to cut out. C. This rule helps you finish most tasks in two minutes. D. Hugging or holding hands with a loved one proves helpful. E. For many of us, mental overload has become the usual situation. F. Doing so means you avoid creating more future work for yourself. G. Start with a blank page and note down whatever comes to your mind. E 37. G 38. D 39. F 40. 【36题详解】 空前“When was the last time you felt clear-headed?(你上一次头脑清醒是什么时候?)” E“For many of us, mental overload has become the usual situation.(对我们很多人来说,精神负担过重已经成了常态。)” 根据上文“While it may sound strange, writing about the things that are contributing to the sense of overload can have a positive effect. It reduces bothersome thoughts and improves working memory, freeing up the mind for other mental activities. (虽然听起来可能有些奇怪,但写下那些让你感到负担过重的事情能产生积极的效果。它能减少烦扰的思绪,提高工作记忆,让大脑有空间进行其他脑力活动。)”指出,写下问题的好处。选项G“Start with a blank page and note down whatever comes to your mind.(从一张空白页开始,写下任何浮现在你脑海中的东西。)” D“Hugging or holding hands with a loved one proves helpful.(与爱人拥抱或牵手被证明是有帮助的。)” 【39题详解】 根据上文“His rule states that if the task that’s worrying you can be completed in two minutes or less, you should do it immediately rather than adding it to your to-do list.(他的规则指出,如果让你感到担忧的任务能在两分钟或更短的时间内完成,你应该立即去做,而不是把它添加到你的待办事项清单上。)” F“Doing so means you avoid creating more future work for yourself.(这样做意味着你避免为自己创造更多未来的工作。)” 【40题详解】 根据上文“Sometimes the sense of overload is caused by unnecessary tasks and responsibilities. Are there any activities or opportunities that you can say “no thank you” to? It can be hard to say no, but the relief of taking something off your plate might be worth it.(有时候,负担过重的感觉是由不必要的任务和责任造成的。有没有一些活动或机会你可以说“不,谢谢”呢?说不可能很难,但从你的任务清单上删掉一些事情所带来的解脱感可能是值得的。)”可知,上文提出可以从任务清单上删掉一些事情。选项B“Create a list of activities you choose to cut out.(创建一个你选择剔除的活动清单。)” One evening, near the end of a school trip, Squier, her daughter and the students were on a ____41____ in the London Underground getting ready to ____42____ their next destination. (运用了not only...but also...并列结构) [高分句型2] We truly hope you can join us. Go Beyond I stared at the art contest poster. Slowly I started practicing again. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Finally came the day of the art contest! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: Slowly, I started practicing again. After school, I stayed in the quiet art room, carefully drawing characters from popular cartoons. At first, my drawing of the monkey king looked awkward, but I kept erasing and improving. Emma would sometimes sit beside me, showing how to draw smiling expressions. One afternoon, I finally drew a perfect Nezha — his round face and lively eyes looked just right! My hands no longer shook when holding the brush, and colors blended smoothly under my fingertips. Finally came the day of the art contest! The hall was filled with excited voices as students prepared their artworks. My heart beat fast when three judges stood before my cartoon drawings, discussing how each character’s face showed different feelings. When they called my name for “Most Creative Work”, my eyes grew wet. Seeing Emma clapping happily in the crowd, I understood — real achievement wasn’t just about winning, but about daring to try again after disappointment. This special award belonged to both of us. 词汇激活 行为类 ①跳动:beat/pound ②谈论:discuss/talk about/speak about ③理解:understand/comprehend 情绪类 ①兴奋的:excited/thrilled/exhilarated ②开心地:happily/merrily/cheerfully ③失望:disappointment/letdown/frustration 【点睛】[高分句型1] The hall was filled with excited voices as students prepared their artworks.
