(陕西省宝鸡市2023-2024学年高二下学期期末)One week after I started working in Beijing, I decided to visit a place of interest called the Summer Palace. Before setting off, I researched it on the Internet. The Summer Palace is composed mostly of a lake, but it’s surrounded by beautiful greenery and a walkway that circles the lake. It is recommended that you give the Summer Palace about three hours. If you try to walk around it, it could take five or six hours. With that knowledge of it, I set off.
The highlight of the tour had to be the view from the Tower of Buddhist Incense. It sits on the top of a large hill overlooking the lake and is worth a climb. It was built as a place to worship the Buddha. And in the Summer Palace, unlike in most of other places, photography isn’t allowed in most of the buildings. Pictures of most of the Buddhas and the other artifacts are off⁃limits for photographers.
Another highlight was seeing the stage created for the Dowager Empress where she watched operas and other theater items. There are box seats that surround the stage and it was the largest stage created in Imperial China. You could almost imagine royalty reviewing the actors from the boxes and the stage.
I do recommend taking a boat ride if you go, which takes you from one side of the lake to the other side where you can see another set of buildings. And it is fun. You can also rent an electric boat or paddleboat if you want. But since it was just me, I went aboard one of the biggest boats with other people.
I spent another four hours wandering around the Summer Palace. But I didn’t see all of it because it was getting dark. How I wish I could visit it again.
4.What did the author do before setting off for the Summer Palace?
A.Asked others about it. B.Learned something about it.
C.Spent three hours researching it. D.Rented a boat.
5.What does the underlined word “off⁃limits” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.Forbidden. B.Allowed. C.Charged. D.Limited.
6.What do we know about the stage mentioned in the text?
A.It sits on the top of a hill. B.It is the largest stage all over China.
C.It was for royalty to watch performances. D.Operas are performed there at times.
7.Which of the following correctly describes the author’s tour?
A.She took a boat by herself.
B.She spent four hours in the Summer Palace.
C.She didn’t enjoy the trip because it was too late.
D.She only toured part of the Summer Palace.
【答案】4.B 5.A 6.C 7.D
根据第一段中“Before setting off, I researched it on the Internet.”(出发前,我在网上查了一下。)
根据第二段中“And in the Summer Palace, unlike in most of other places, photography isn’t allowed in most of the buildings. Pictures of most of the Buddhas and the other artifacts are off⁃limits for photographers.”(不像其他地方,在颐和园大多数建筑都不允许拍照。 故选A。
根据第三段中“Another highlight was seeing the stage created for the Dowager Empress where she watched operas and other theater items.”(另一个亮点是看到了为慈禧太后创造的戏台,她在那里观看戏曲和其他剧场节目。)
根据最后一段中“But I didn’t see all of it because it was getting dark. How I wish I could visit it again.”(但我没有全部看完,因为天黑了。

(广东省佛山市2023-2024学年高二下学期期末)Within the cinematic universe of “The Martian,” Matt Damon embodies the role of an astronaut who cultivates sustenance on the Martian terrain, a testament to human ingenuity in the face of isolation on the crimson celestial sphere.
Following their cinematic enlightenment, Michael Allen, a physicist hailing from Washington State University, and Helen Joyner, a food scientist from the University of Idaho, resolved to initiate a pedagogical exploration. They devised an instructive scenario aimed at guiding students through the complex process of agricultural endeavor on the Martian surface. Envisioning themselves as interplanetary miners, students are tasked with devising a strategy for sustenance prior to embarking on their extraterrestrial expedition. Allen and Joyner proffer a proposal outlining the selection of crops and the enduring trials of cultivating them in the Martian environment over extended periods. Utilizing a scoring mechanism, students are challenged to identify and propagate three varieties of nourishment on the Martian terrain.
Allen encountered a remarkable diversity in outcomes: among a cohort of thirty students, “there has not been a single instance of identical responses,” he remarked.
Future Martian voyagers will, in all likelihood, be compelled to harness the native resources of the planet rather than transporting all necessities aboard a spacecraft. This implies the necessity of cultivating their own nourishment on an extraterrestrial sphere, one that boasts an ecosystem markedly divergent from that of Earth.
One formidable impediment for prospective Martian habitués is the absence of agricultural implements. In congruence with actual astronauts, student participants in the study are precluded from amassing an extensive array of farming tools. As Joyner articulated to his student space explorers, “You commence your journey with a vacuum of resources.”
Furthermore, students are confronted with the predicament of a severely restricted dietary selection. “Could I endure a diet confined to a single sustenance for the entirety of my existence?” posed Joyner.
Nevertheless, Allen perceives the case study as transcending the realms of agriculture and nutrition on the Red Planet.
“I am not imparting knowledge solely on the cultivation of food on Mars,” Allen declared. “I am imparting knowledge on coexistence with choices. I am imparting knowledge on the resolution of complex issues.”
8.In the case study, students have to ______.
A.watch the movie to know the conditions on Mars
B.decide which crop to grow on Mars with the help of the teachers
C.design different types of diets on Mars for them to choose
D.understand how to farm on Mars with their favorite farming tools
9.The underlined word “proposal” in the second paragraph can be replaced by ______ .
A.exploration B.recommendation C.adventure D.movement
10.Michael Allen thinks that the case study ______ .
A.increases students’ knowledge about farming
B.helps student know more about Mars
C.develops students’ skills of solving problems
D.teaches students how to make proper choices
11.The passage is mainly intended ______.
A.to describe a research on how to farm on Mars
B.to prepare us to deal with problems on Mars
C.to teach us how to survive on Mars alone
D.to introduce a Hollywood movie, The Martian

D
(四川省宜宾市普通高中2023-2024学年高二下学期期末)Do you ever wonder about what the term “locally-grown food” means? Do you wonder where your food comes from? Locally-grown food and sustainability are on the rise, and it’s important to know why this trend in farming matters.
Hawaii, in particular, is a pretty isolated place. About 85 percent of food is imported. Much of what gets to their table depends on what comes to use by ship. Sometimes, one notices there is no milk or other product left at the grocery story because there is a problem with a barge (驳船).
Steven Chiang, a professor from University of Hawaii, pointed out that in Hawaii, the cost of labor is high for people who might want to farm the land. Since many different groups or individuals own small pieces of land, getting access to farmland is also difficult.
However, Chiang added, “there are many benefits to growing food locally on the islands and elsewhere.” For one, they can hold onto traditions and the types of food they like. Food in soil will have the chance to mature more, and maybe absorb more nutrition. Areas of land that might be used for other things, like new apartment or office buildings, can be preserved. Also, plants can extract the carbon dioxide in the air, benefiting the environment.
Chiang said that there was more to locally-grown food than just those benefits. “Having local food helps make people aware of where their food comes from,” he said. When people are disconnected from the food system and don’t know where their food comes from, there’s a tendency to make potentially negative choices. “Because we’re so efficient at shipping and importing,” he added, “We don’t realize or know what it takes, and that can lead to poor decisions that can harm us all.”
So what can you do? In Hawaii, there are many opportunities to volunteer at local farms. But in other areas around the world, you can do your part by supporting and buying locally-grown food. You can also help spread awareness by educating your friends and family. You can even grow your own food—in a container in your kitchen or in your backyard!
1.What can be inferred about Hawaii’s food supply?
A.Hawaii relies heavily on imported food.
B.Hawaii’s cost of living is low for farmers.
C.Hawaii’s grocery stores are often short of milk.
D.Hawaii’s farmland is enough for all local needs.
2.Which is a benefit of growing food locally?
A.Lowering the cost of local labor.
B.Increasing the variety of imported food.
C.Preserving land for non-agricultural use.
D.Offering quick access to imported food.
3.What is Chiang’s attitude towards locally-grown food?
A.Negative. B.Doubtful.
C.Undecided. D.Favorable.
4.What is the author’s purpose of writing the last paragraph?
A.To encourage gardening at home.
B.To advocate sustainable practices.
C.To promote local farming in Hawaii.
D.To discourage buying imported food.
【答案】1.A 2.C 3.D 4.B
根据文章第二段“Hawaii, in particular, is a pretty isolated place. About 85 percent of food is imported. (尤其是夏威夷,是一个非常孤立的地方。大约 85%的食物是进口的。)”可以推断出,夏威夷严重依赖进口食品。故选A项。
根据文章第四段“Areas of land that might be used for other things, like new apartment or office buildings, can be preserved. (可能用于其他用途的土地,如新建公寓或办公楼,可以得到保留。)”可知,本地种植食物的一个好处是可以为非农业用途保留土地。故选C项。
3.推理判断题。根据文章第五段“Chiang said that there was more to locally-grown food than just those benefits. (蒋说,本地种植的食物不仅仅有这些好处。)”以及他对本地种植食物的各种好处的阐述,可以推断出蒋对本地种植食物持支持的态度。故选D项。
4.推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“In Hawaii, there are many opportunities to volunteer at local farms. But in other areas around the world, you can do your part by supporting and buying locally-grown food. You can also help spread awareness by educating your friends and family. You can even grow your own food—in a container in your kitchen or in your backyard!
(黑龙江省龙东聪明2023-2024学年高二下学期期末)Capturing photos of individuals can be an opportunity to show their personality, convey information and tell a story. I’m a photographer and have taken photos of musicians, athletes, politicians, actors and many others. Here are some tips to keep in mind as you take photos of people.
Be decisive while making room for collaboration (合作)
Having your photo taken can be troublesome. To ease your subjects’ anxiety, you should be confident, calm and decisive. 5 , including how many shots you have planned, and showing them the different locations and styling choices.
If you have time, get their feedback about a proposed shot. During the shoot, check in and see if there are changes that will make the subjects more comfortable. 6 , be decisive and prioritize getting the job done.
Prioritize needs and wants
For me, the order of priority is my clients’ needs, my investments and then the subjects’ requests. 7 . But with the restrictions of practical circumstances, follow your own order of priority. 8
With any lighting situation, test the light by having your subjects turn in a circle so you can see how light changes on their faces.
9 . If you fall in love with a shot, but the subject says, “I just shot there last week, so I don’t want to do that,” you have to adjust quickly. Something unexpected can happen, so you must be prepared to take action.
A.Respect your subjects
B.Given a time restriction
C.In an ideal world, everyone can be satisfied
D.Make preparations and adjustments in photography
E.If you have enough time to shoot in the right location
F.You can lead the shoot by walking them through the process
G.It’s important to have a plan in case your initial choice can’t work out
5.后文“including how many shots you have planned, and showing them the different locations and styling choices. (包括你计划了多少张照片,并向他们展示不同的地点和造型选择。)”详细介绍了摄影师需要告知被拍摄者的拍摄过程和细节,是对F项“You can lead the shoot by walking them through the process (开始拍摄之前,你可以先介绍一遍拍摄流程)”中“the process”的举例说明,上下文语意连贯。故选F。
6.设空处后是逗号,且后文“be decisive and prioritize getting the job done. (要果断,优先完成工作。)”是祈使句,句中没有连词出现,由此推知,设空句不能是完整的句子,只有B、E两项符合;结合下文中“prioritize getting the job done (优先完成工作)”可推知,如果时间紧迫,需优先完成拍摄工作,B项“Given a time restriction (倘若有时间限制)”符合语境。故选B。
7.根据后文“But with the restrictions of practical circumstances, follow your own order of priority. (但由于实际情况的限制,请按照自己的优先顺序行事。)”中“But with the restrictions of practical circumstances”可知,上下文有转折关系,下文谈的是实际情况,C项“In an ideal world, everyone can be satisfied (在一个理想的世界里,每个人都能得到满足)”讲的是理想情况,上下文构成转折关系。故选C。
根据后文“With any lighting situation, test the light by having your subjects turn in a circle so you can see how light changes on their faces. (在任何照明情况下,让你的拍摄对象转一圈来测试光线,这样你就可以看到光线在他们脸上的变化。)”可知,本段建议要做好摄影光线的准备和调整工作。所以D项“Make preparations and adjustments in photography (做好摄影中的准备和调整)”是最佳标题句。故选D。
9.后文“If you fall in love with a shot, but the subject says, “I just shot there last week, so I don’t want to do that,” you have to adjust quickly. Something unexpected can happen, so you must be prepared to take action. (如果你喜欢一个镜头,但拍摄对象说,“我上周刚在那里拍过,所以我不想那样做,”你必须迅速调整。一些意想不到的事情可能会发生,所以你必须准备好采取行动。)”用举例的方式说明摄像师要有Plan B,以应对客户提出的新要求,是对G项“It’s important to have a plan in case your initial choice can’t work out (重要的是,如果你的第一选择行不通,要有另一个计划)”观点的解释说明。故选G。

Anna, an 11-year-old girl, was excited because today was the drawing contest at her school. Anna was really good at drawing and usually got the highest marks in art. Her teachers would often ask her to make posters for school plays and call on her during free periods to help with cuttings, drawing, shading, coloring and much more. There was an art competition taking place in school and Anna had worked really hard and wanted to win it. But there was one thing that was worrying her today.
Recently, a new girl, Bree, had joined her class. She was also interested in art but she was not as good at drawing as Anna was. Miss Green, the art teacher, helped Bree and taught her tips and tricks to improve her drawing skill. And now Bree was also considered among the best artists in grade six.
Bree was quick, smart and intelligent. Anna became jealous (妒忌) of Bree’s intelligence and felt that the new girl would be tough to beat.
So that day, for the art competition, Miss Green took all the students to the art room, told them their roll numbers and gave important instructions. Anna's roll number was 16, while Bree was number 17. The bell rang, indicating the beginning of the contest. Miss Green wrote on the board: make a scene of a sunset with a flowing river and a sailing boat.
Anna knew that the best tools to make a sunset were oil pastels (油画棒) . Anna started to look for her oil pastels in her art bag. Then, after looking through the bag, she remembered that she had left them at home. Immediately, she got up to tell Miss Green.
Miss Green was surprised at Anna’s carelessness and told her that she was sorry for not offering help, since she didn’t have any oil pastels at hand, either. Anna looked around and failed to find any of her friends there in the room, much to her disappointment.

Paragraph 1:
Anna’s eyes were full of tears. She felt helpless and frustrated, knowing that without her oil pastels, her chances of winning the competition were slim. Just as she was about to give up, she noticed Bree, who was busy sketching away with her own set of tools. A thought crossed Anna’s mind—maybe Bree wouldn’t mind sharing. With a trembling voice, Anna approached Bree and explained her situation. To her surprise, Bree didn’t hesitate and offered Anna half of her oil pastels, saying, “We’re in this together, Anna. Let’s make something amazing.” Anna’s heart warmed as she realized that Bree wasn’t just a competitor but also a friend. With renewed energy, she began to work alongside Bree, using the shared resources to create a stunning sunset scene.
Paragraph 2:
The two girls stood hand in hand, waiting for the winners to be announced. As Miss Green walked towards the front of the room, holding the results, Anna’s heart pounded. She glanced at Bree, who was smiling confidently. To everyone’s amazement, Miss Green announced that the joint effort of Anna and Bree had won the competition. The room erupted in cheers and applause. Anna couldn’t believe it—not only had she overcome her fear of losing to Bree, but they had also accomplished something beautiful together. She hugged Bree tightly, grateful for the lesson she had learned: true talent lies not just in individual skills but also in the power of collaboration and friendship. From that day on, Anna and Bree became inseparable, pushing each other to new heights in their artistic pursuits.

Miss Green was surprised at Anna’s carelessness and told her that she was sorry for not offering help, since she didn’t have any oil pastels at hand, either. Anna looked around and failed to find any of her friends there in the room, much to her disappointment.
