Children learn from their environment, including speech patterns and vocabulary. It's crucial for children to have diverse speech and language models to use language in various situations like requesting, commenting, sharing opinions, asking questions and having conversations. This means they need regular interaction with people, not just screens. Research shows that the average three year old spends nearly three hours daily on screens, reducing conversations with adults and the number of words they hear. Language expert miss mic alloyd suggests that human interaction and regular dialogue are excEllent for developing children's language skills. Parents are advised to participate in screen time by singing along to theme songs, repeating crashes or questions from shows, and using show content as conversation starters after turning off the screen. I never thought I'd work in a jewelry store.I didn't even wear a watch. But as a teenager needing
money, and with the store short-staffed during the holiday rush,I took the job despite my inexperience.
My disinterest showed in my sales. The only thing I was good at was selling a nice aftershave(
K)called British Sterling.I told women buying it for their partners that they were really buying it for
themselves. If it made them happy,it was the right choice.
One busy evening, the store was packed with customers, mostly men, looking for last-minute
gifts. We focused on showing them the pricier items.About half an hour before closing,a young girl
approached me,looking worried. She wanted a special gift for her mom,but she only had 6.We had
some affordable earrings,so I showed her a few pairs. The store was getting crowded, and my
manager,George,kept giving me looks.

with joy.I decided to wrap the gift in our fancy gold paper and tie a ribbon around it,making it look
like a gift for the best mom ever.
The girl left the store, beaming.George said to me,"We have customers ready to spend big,and
you spent all this time on a $4.98 sale. You even gift-wrapped it,which is for purchases over 10."
Without missing a beat,I replied,"This girl understands the true spirit of giving. It's not about the

With the launch of ChatGPT in 2022,OpenAI's chatbot attracted 100 million users within weeks.
Investors also piled in.Yet across the economy, only 5%of American businesses say they are using AI
in their products and services.Few AI businesses are turning a profit.
Despite the disparity between investor enthusiasm and business reality, the race is on to make it
more efficient and more useful.Yet several things are slowing AI development.Training big models
needs huge amounts of energy. The electricity used to train GPT-4 could have powered 5,000 American
homes for a year.Developing ever larger models thus requires deeper pockets.Meanwhile, there is a
shortage of training data.
Companies worldwide are coming up with clever fixes to these problems, from more efficient and
specialized chips to smaller models that need less power.Others are dreaming up ways of tapping new,
high-quality data sources such as textbooks for use in training.Whether these will lead to improvements
in the technology is still unclear. For end users of AI,a different kind of struggle is underway,as
individuals and companies try to work out how best to use the technology. As the technology becomes
more advanced,adoption may accelerate.
But culture also matters.Much use of Al is in secret,as workers use it to streamline tasks such as
rewriting text or generating reports.Employees may worry that if they admit to using AI to get things
done more quickly, bosses will give them more work to do,or take this as a signal that fewer workers
are needed. This in turn suggests that AI adoption is as much a management challenge as a technological
one.To get the most out of the technology, bosses need to create an open environment.
The AI race will take many forms in 2025,yet the point about which investors are doubtful is often
when new technologies quietly start gaining force. Will the bubble burst,or will the technology start to
deliver? The answer in 2025 may be a bit of both.

Using drone()surveys and artificial-intelligence processing, scientists have discovered an
extensive network of open clearings()among the trees in Congo's rainforests.Elephants, gorillas,

Recognizing the surprising extent of the bais network began on the ground. In May 2021,a small

says.
For the next three summers Hockridge and his colleagues investigated the clearings."There's
something magical in watching a family of animals emerge from the forest edge and enjoy sunlight and
social opportunities before slipping back into the cool shade of the forest,"he says.
During the initial surveys, the team often followed elephant trails through the rainforest from bais
to bais, which led Hockridge to wonder about a network.Although previous studies documented animal
behavior in selected bais,no one had counted them or mapped their distribution.Doing so required
taking to the sky.Partnering with African Parks, which manages Odzala, the team flew drones over
some of the 220 bais, gathering information. The researchers used this information to train an AI model
that could pick out bais from satellite images. For a study,Hockridge and Ngouma mapped all the bais
in a national park and found 2,176 of them-10 times more than the park management had previously
known.
Bais, always located near rivers or streams, are islands of resources, and animals produce trails to
essentially navigate to and from the bais. The researchers'map of bais is also a map of conservation
priorities, since a huge portion of the animal community depends on this unique ecosystem.
No one has ever documented how bais formed. Now,with a map and camera traps, the research
team is going to track long-term changes, meaning to maintain these crucial animal habitats.

A panel of nutrition experts released their 2025 dietary guidelines. These guidelines will inform and
shape the food programs and policy of the U.S.government.Overall,the recommendations for the
guidelines sound familiar.36 They should also eat less red meat and processed meats.as well as
vegetables like potatoes.
37 In addition, the panel was the first to consider dietary needs based on financial situation,
race and culture.Fatima,an obesity expert, said that considering these new elements will help make
sure that the guidance reflects and includes various population groups.
The panel considered more than 40 studies.Several of them showed links between ultra-processed
foods and being overweight or obesity. But the nutrition experts said the evidence was too limited to
make recommendations. The panel also didn't change recommendations about alcohol. The current
guidelines are two drinks or less a day for men and one for women. The nutrition panel described a
healthy diet for people beginning at two years old.38
The diets of most Americans don't meet the current guidelines.More than half of American adults
have one or more diet-related health condition.39 The report also notes that nutrition-related long-
term health conditions will continue to threaten health throughout their life.
The dietary guidelines are updated every five years.40 Related government officials will then
hold a public meeting to discuss the recommendations before they are finally released. All this makes it
possible for Americans to attach importance to the dietary guidelines.
A.This panel worked on guidelines for two years.
B.For a healthy diet, people should eat more beans.
C.The last time the guidance was updated was in 2020.
D.The public has 60 days to comment on the guidance.

The boys were so excited and happy as we shopped all day before our doctor appointment at three
that afternoon. My husband Charlie had the job of keeping them busy while I picked out gifts to put
under the tree.We had purchased new coats, gloves, and snow boots for both boys and a pram suit for
our little daughter.Charlie and I also had new warm winter coats. Our car was piled with gifts and food
in the trunk and our old coats were in the back seat with the boys.
My wait was much longer than expected as the doctor had been called to an emergency at the
hospital earlier in the day.I came out of the office to face a terrible snowstorm. The conditions were
growing worse all the time.My husband was concerned as to our making it back to our country home
about seven miles from town.He thought about us staying in a motel for the night and then decided we
would try to make it home.
Half way there we found the road was drifted so deep and it drowned our car.Charlie got out and
began the long walk to our home.He was going to bring our big truck back and pull the car home with
it.There was nothing we could do but wait in the car.
I told stories and we sang nursery rhymes for what seemed like hours.I was getting more worried
by the minute but did not want the children to know I was so scared. Finally,my youngest son John who
was three climbed over into the front seat beside me and said,"Mommy,my daddy is gonna freeze to
death out there. And we will freeze too."I said."No John,Daddy will be coming with the truck
soon!"But the darkness and blowing snow was covering our car and made it impossible to see anything
outside. Then in just a few minutes,I saw a man in a car coming our way.

2.请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。
