Deaf children enjoy reading happily
Now there are about 32 million deaf children around the world. Deaf children often have problems in 1 to read. And smartphone maker Huawei, wants to help them out through a new app called StorySign. It is powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
Parents and teachers can use the app to help deaf children learn how to read. It is easy to use the app. Just open the app and 2 on the chosen book from the StorySign Library. Hold the phone up to the words on the page, and the AI Star will then sign the words as the printed words are highlighted (照亮).
Users can also 3 a book from the app’s book library. The first book on the StorySign platform is the popular children’s book Spot the Dog (《斑点狗小玻》).
The app start with a 4 called The Silent Child. The film sees a young girl Star reading 5 with her father on Christmas Eve. Later that night when she goes downstairs to look at her presents, she is filled with 6 to see Father Christmas who hands her a book as a gift. When Father Christmas realizes that the little girl is deaf, Santa begins to sign the book to her.
The developers specifically design the product to make the app’s main character Star 7 with both boys and girls by making her an elder sister or friend. They will help the deaf children read and understand the book. Star’s facial expressions and hands are able to fully 8 the “perfect” sign language. Star also wears a hearing aid (援助). This way, not only are the deaf children learning to read, but they are also happy.
“We created StorySign to help make it 9 for families with deaf children to enjoy an enriched story time,” said Andrew Garrihy, Huawei’s CMO for Western Europe. Although many deaf children make an effort to learn to read, there are no resources that connect the differences between sign language and written text. The app can be downloaded from app stores in 10 different 10 including English, French, German, and Italian. It perfectly gives them this tool to make it easier for them to read.

(2025·重庆江北·一模)
①Have you ever watched a hologram (全息影像) during a video call? What if you could chat with your friend as real as standing face-to-face? This magic will probably be powered by 6G—the technology that China’s 2025 Two Sessions (两会) marked as a national goal.
②Compared to 5G, 6G promises great improvements, which will support much smoother connections between humans, machines, and the environment, creating a world where everything works smartly together.
③One major improvement is its unbelievably high speed. With the highest speed reaching up to 100GB/s, it is expected to be 100 times faster than 5G. This speed allows users to download a movie within just one second.
④6G’s near-zero latency (延迟) is another step forward. With latency cut to 0.1 milliseconds (毫秒), 6G makes real-time control possible. This means doctors will be able to operate on patients thousands of miles away using real-time holographic tools. Meanwhile, self-driving cars could quickly share real-time traffc condition, cutting accidents by 80%.
⑤Anything more exciting? By connecting towers on the ground with satellites (卫星) close to Earth, “no-service” areas will probably disappear forever. 6G could bring strong signals (信号) to every corner of the planet—deep in the Amazon rainforest, at the top of Mount Qomolangma, or in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, allowing anyone, anywhere, to share moments in real time.
⑥China is taking the lead in 6G research. Tech companies like Huawei and ZTE have made great achievements. China successfully sent the world’s first 6G test satellite into space. The government is also actively supporting plans like building test networks, setting national standards, and helping researchers work with industries. By 2030, the government aims to make 6G available for everyone.
⑦Yet challenges remain. Developing 6G may cost 50 times more than 5G. Also, international cooperation on standard-setting is needed. But with China’s large market and creative power, experts believe 6G is sure to become a reality and benefit humans in countless ways.
⑧In conclusion, 6G isn’t just faster—it’s a key to a smarter world. As Chinese engineers work tirelessly and push forward, one question remains: How will YOU use 6G to shape tomorrow?
1.Which is the improvement of 6G over 5G?

(2025·山东济南·一模)Imagine you are in an autonomous vehicle (AV) and face this terrible choice: The car must either turn left and hit a young boy, or turn right and hit many pedestrians (行人). On top of this “moral dilemma (道德困境)”, if the car doesn’t turn, you might get hurt. What decision would you expect the AV to make?
In life-and-death situations, should AVs put passengers first or pedestrians? Should AVs prioritize (优先考虑) the greater good or one person’s safety? These have been a central topic for several years. However, there can be no completely perfect solution.
“A moral dilemma is a dilemma; it has no exact solution (解决方法) by design,” wrote Derek Leben, a professor of ethics at the Tepper School of Business, US, in his paper.
When studying these questions of AVs, Iyad Rahwan, an MIT scientist, found that people are selfish. “People buying these cars want cars that prioritize the passenger,” Rahwan told Science News. “But they want other people’s cars to protect pedestrians instead.”
AVs bring not only moral dilemmas but also other challenges. When there is an accident, who should be responsible for it, the company of the AV, or the “driver”?
In July, a self-driving taxi by Baidu hit a pedestrian in Wuhan, Hubei, who ran a red light. Baidu worked with the police and took the pedestrian to the hospital. In another accident in April in Seattle, US, the responsibility fell on the “driver” since the “driver” was on his phone while in the full self-driving supervised mode.
The situations of different accidents caused by AVs are so complicated (复杂的) that “now there are no clear rules”, Ji Xuehong, a researcher from North China University of Technology, told National Business Daily. “And the rules for different levels from L2 to L4 are also different,” Ji added.
1.How does the writer introduce the topic of moral dilemmas faced by AVs?
A.By giving an example of a hard decision. B.By explaining what moral dilemmas mean.
C.By introducing how self-driving cars work. D.By introducing the rules for self-driving cars.
2.What does Derek Leben think about the moral dilemma?
A.It can be dealt with easily. B.There is no perfect solution.
C.It can be avoided by design. D.It won’t happen in real life.
3.According to lyad Rahwan’s research, what kind of AVs do people want for themselves?
A.One that can make moral decisions. B.One that protects everyone well.
C.One that keeps its passengers safest. D.One that puts pedestrians’ safety first.
4.What is Paragraph 6 mainly about?
A.Some arguments caused by AV accidents.
B.Real-life examples of AV accidents in China.
C.Different solutions of accidents caused by AVs.
D.Ways to stop accidents between AVs and pedestrians.
5.What can we infer from Ji Xuehong’s words in the last paragraph?
A.AVs can cause a lot of trouble. B.It’s hard to make rules for AVs.
C.It’s hard to control self-driving cars. D.The rules for AVs will come out soon.
