No one was able to solve it except the boy with the note on his back. 8 Ignoring the laughter, he walked towards the blackboard and solved the problem. The teacher asked the class to clap(鼓掌) for him and took the note off his back. She told him, “It seems that you didn’t know about the note your classmate put on your back, but you didn’t seem to care anyway. ” Then the teacher looked at the rest of the class and said, “Before I punish you all, let me tell you two things. First, all of you will be labeled(贴标签) by other people who don’t want you to succeed. All you have to do is ignore these labels. You have to learn, grow and improve. ” 9 Then the teacher added, “And it seems that none of you are friends of this boy, since none of you were kind enough to tell him about the note. It’s a study method that helps students learn by teaching others. The Feynman Technique has been one of the most effective(有效的) study methods for many years. For one thing, it helps students really understand something instead of just memorizing information. What’s more, unlike traditional study methods like rereading textbooks or reviewing notes, it pushes students to be more actively involved in the learning process. 18 If you want to use the Feynman Technique to study better, follow these steps. To begin with, choose a topic you want to learn, including sub-topics(子主题). If not, you’ll end up jumping between topics without developing a deeper understanding of any of them. The second step is the heart of the Feynman Technique: Explain the topic simply enough to be understood by a sixth-grade student. This requires you to help the child understand by using the simplest and clearest language possible. This step helps divide indigestible(难理解的) topics into their most basic parts. 19 Next, review your explanation and try to find any area where you felt that you couldn’t explain the topic simply. When possible, it can be very helpful to get advice from someone whose understanding is similar to that of a sixth-grader, such as your best friend. The fourth step is to improve your explanation by using the information collected from the third step. Finally, repeat the steps. The Feynman Technique works best with repetition, and that is because going through all the prior(先前的) steps just once is usually not enough to fully understand the topic. 20 Once you’re confident you’ve learned the topic, it’s time to give yourself a prize. Perhaps, like me, enjoy a nice cup of coffee. 【文章大意】本文主要介绍了一种通过教授他人来帮助学习的方法——费曼学习法。 21 8. How many steps does the Feynman Technique have? ( ) A. Four. B. Two. C. Five. D. Six. 【考点】细节理解 【解析】根据第三至六段可知, 费曼学习法共包含四个步骤, 分别是选择主题、简化解释、回顾解释和改进解释。需注意, “最后, 重复上述步骤。”只是对费曼学习法的巩固加深, 并不属于步骤之一。 22 9. What’s the first step of the Feynman Technique? ( ) A. Reading textbooks and notes on the subject. B. Choosing a topic and its sub-topics to study. C. Explaining the topic to a group of students. D. Taking notes on everything you read. 【考点】细节理解 【解析】根据第三段第二句可知, 使用费曼学习法的第一步是选择一个想要学习的主题, 包括其子主题。 23 10. Why is repetition important in the Feynman Technique? ( ) A. It helps to memorize the information quickly. B. It allows of deeper understanding of the topic. C. It makes studying less boring. D. It helps to finish studying faster. 【考点】推理判断 【解析】根据倒数第二段最后一句可知, 费曼学习法通过重复步骤使效果最佳, 因为仅仅将所有步骤进行一次通常是不足以完全理解该主题的。由此可推知, 重复是为了更深入的理解。 24 11. Which might be the best title of the text? ( ) A. The importance of memorization in learning B. The Feynman Technique: learning by teaching C. Traditional study methods vs. modern techniques D. He wanted people to know about the terrible conditions in which children often had to work. So his stories were full of people who suffered the things that he had gone through himself. In fact, one of his novels is called Hard Times. 58 Later, Charles Dickens went on long tours in Britain and America. He read and acted out passages from his novels. These reading tours were very popular and they brought him fame and fortune. He once gave a performance of A Christmas Carol to 2, 000 poor people in Birmingham for charity(慈善).
