Dear Principal, As our school is launching the Beautiful Campus initiative, I am writing to bring to your attention some facilities on campus. I have noticed that the soccer field has an uneven surface and many bare patches, which can lead to injuries and significantly affect the quality of play. To improve this situation, I suggest we reseed the field with durable grass that can withstand heavy use. Additionally, implementing a regular maintenance schedule, including mowing, watering, and aerating the field, would help keep it in optimal condition. These changes would ensure a safer and more enjoyable playing experience for us, encouraging more participation in soccer activities and promoting physical fitness. Thank you for considering my suggestions. I believe these improvements will contribute to a more beautiful campus. He was amazed when he saw the large red box still sitting where it had fallen. He pulled over and went to retrieve it, surprised that it hadn’t been run over since he saw it fall. It was a gift box from the local department store he had visited. He took it to his car, opened the box, and could not believe his eyes. Inside was the coat he wanted-and it was his size. It was tempting to keep it, but he thought about the person who obviously bought this coat as a gift, and the person who was supposed to receive it. He drove to the department store and took it to the men’s department. The cashier did not recall selling the coat to anyone that day. There was no useful information about the purchaser except for a cash receipt in the box, and no one had called or come in to report it missing. Then, the cashier(收银员) told Dad to just keep it, but he tried to find the owner. Returning from the department, Dad placed an ad in the Lost and Found section of the local paper, naming the intersection, the type of truck and the day and time. However, no one ever called to claim the coat. After about a month, Dad finally received a call from a lady. She explained that when she had realized the gift for her husband was missing, she had to buy a replacement in another store. He was deeply moved by Dad’s determination to find its rightful owner and expressed his gratitude. In light of Dad’s good intentions, he insisted that Dad keep the coat as a token of appreciation. I remember Dad wearing that coat for many years. For him, it was more than just a piece of clothing; it was a reminder of how miracles can happen and how acts of kindness can yield unexpected rewards. Dear Chris, I’m excited to hear that you’ve been invited to a Chinese friend’s house! Here are some tips on Chinese dining etiquette to help you feel more comfortable during your visit. In China, it’s considered respectful to wait for the elders to begin eating before you start. If you’re unsure, just follow their lead. Meals are typically served family-style, so it’s polite to take small portions from the shared dishes. Be mindful of chopstick etiquette as well—never stick them upright in a bowl of rice, as this is considered impolite. Apart from these, always show appreciation for the meal. I hope you have a wonderful time at your friend’s house. Best of luck, and I’m sure it will be a memorable experience! “I haven’t seen the Rodans for three days. Can we go check on them?”said Bella. “They probably changed their routine,” Mom said. “Or maybe they’ve been too busy to walk.” What Mom said made sense, but Bella was still concerned about the Rodans, and insisted on paying them a visit to make sure everything was fine. Mom agreed. They walked to the Rodans’ house, and Bella rang the doorbell. There was no answer at first, but then they heard some faint noises inside. Bella and her mom exchanged worried glances. “I’ll knock again,” Bella said, and she knocked louder this time. After a moment, they heard footsteps approaching. Mrs. Rodan opened the door, with a bandage wrapped around her ankle. She was holding little red-cheeked Finn on her back. “Bella, what a surprise!” Mrs. Rodan exclaimed, though she had obvious circles under her eyes. “Bella was worried when she didn’t see you outside, so we came to check on you,” said Mom. Mrs. Rodan expressed her gratitude and explained they had a tough week—she sprained her ankle and Finn caught a cold. It had all been too much for her to handle on her own while her husband was away. After hearing that, Mom offered to help with the household chores, and Bella volunteered to watch Finn. Before long, they became good friends and established a strong bond. Dear Students, As artificial intelligence tools are becoming increasingly popular in our learning environments, many of us are experiencing a concerning trend: over-reliance on AI for problem-solving and information gathering. While these tools can enhance our studies, they may also hinder our ability to think critically and explore ideas independently. Therefore, I urge each of you to strike a balance. Use AI as a supplementary resource, but challenge yourself to engage deeply with the material. Take time to analyze problems, ask questions, and seek answers through research and discussion. This approach will not only strengthen your understanding but also foster creativity and innovation. Let’s embrace technology wisely, ensuring it enhances our learning journey rather than replacing our intellectual curiosity. Eagerly, Dad put the key in the cabin’s door lock, but it wouldn’t turn. With furrowed brows, he took the key out, looked at it closely, and tried again. Jiggle, jiggle. Still no luck. The lock was frozen. It was after 7:00 p.m., and the store or locksmith was far away. The temperature was dropping quickly; our teeth were chattering, noses were running, and our fingers were tingling and turning blue. Frustrated, Dad did what any cold and annoyed dad would do—he picked up a big rock and threw it through the kitchen window. “We’re in!” Dad shouted, like Indiana Jones discovering a hidden treasure. That’s how we all felt—like we had survived a tough adventure and finally found peace and shelter in the cabin we had been eagerly waiting for. Although our first day of winter vacation was more adventurous than expected, we made plenty of wonderful memories that week. We created countless snow angels, fell on our skates more times than I’d like to admit, and sledded more miles than our knees could handle. To top off the warm, festive feeling, we delighted in watching fresh powder blanket the ground under the bright blue sky. A total of nineteen inches fell, allowing us to spend the rest of our vacation playing in our own northern winter wonderland. After that unforgettable trip, we decided to keep the infamous rock that Dad used to break the cabin window. It now sits outside the kitchen window on our property. Some call it a piece of holiday history; we call it the spare key. Dear David, I hope this email finds you well! I am excited to invite you to our upcoming Chinese Poetry Recital, which will take place on February 15th at 7 PM Beijing time. You can watch the event live on our school’s official YouTube channel. This event aims to celebrate Chinese culture through poetry, featuring students reciting a variety of poems that showcase the beauty of the Chinese language. You’ll hear famous poems from renowned poets like Li Bai and Du Fu, as well as modern pieces that reflect contemporary themes. Each performance will be accompanied by explanations, allowing viewers to understand the context and emotions behind the poems. Knowing your interest in Chinese poetry, I believe you’ll truly enjoy this unique experience. I would be thrilled if you could join us for this special occasion. A few seconds later, she ran back to us, waving something very shiny in her hand. As she got closer, I realized it was a fish, glistening in the sunlight. “Look! My friend gave me a fish!” she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with pride. The other three kids crowded around her, their faces filled with envy. “I want it!” shouted my five-year-old, reaching for the fish. So did the other two kids. The air was thick with competition, each child eager for the catch that Drew clutched tightly. Drew, however, stood firm, her little face set in determination. “No! It’s mine!” she declared, gripping the fish protectively. I glanced at my friend, unsure of how to ease the situation. Just as the kids were competing for the fish, the man walked over. He was holding three more fish and handed them to each of the girls. Their eyes widened in surprise, and the earlier envy quickly transformed into joy as they accepted the fish. “Thank you,” they chimed in unison. Watching the delight on their faces, I couldn’t help but reflect on my fears. Was I being overly protective? Yes, I knew there is evil in the world, but I also realized that kindness exists among strangers. Perhaps there are lessons for mothers to learn, lessons that only three-year-olds can teach about trusting in the goodness of others. 参考词汇:双语的bilingual Dear Sir or Madam, Enthusiastic about the opportunity to share our rich cultural heritage with visitors, I’m writing to apply for the bilingual tour guide position at our city museum. I am confident that my qualifications make me a great fit for this role. As a student of art history, I have developed a deep appreciation for our local culture. My fluency in both English and Chinese allows me to connect with a diverse audience, ensuring that everyone can enjoy and understand the exhibits. Additionally, I have experience volunteering as a guide at various community events, where I honed my skills in engaging and educating visitors. I am eager to contribute to our museum and help visitors appreciate our heritage. Thank you for considering my application. Jonathan knew he couldn’t wait any longer; he had to act. “Ava, stay by the car!” he yelled, quickly removing his shoes. Without hesitation, Jonathan climbed onto the railing and performed a leap of faith. A moment later he was bouncing off the sandy bottom—unhurt! The little girl was less than 10 feet away. He swam to her in a few quick strokes and lifted her out of the water. Holding her tightly, he kicked his legs and began swimming toward the shore, fighting against the current. With each stroke, he focused on reaching safety, determined to save her life. Finally, they reached the sandy bank, and he carefully laid her down. Her mouth was half-open, her eyes nearly closed—she wasn’t breathing. Jonathan pinched her nose shut and gave two rescue breaths, watching for her chest to rise. When that didn’t work, he began chest compressions, counting out loud to keep his rhythm. “Come on… come on…” he urged. Thankfully, that worked. After a few more pushes, the little girl coughed violently, followed by a gasp for air. Minutes later, the girl was being rushed to the nearest hospital, while Jonathan hugged Ava next to their car. Ava was inspired by her father’s bravery, and was determined to become a firefighter and save lives like him in the future. Jonathan’s bravery not only saved a life but also ignited a passion for heroism in his daughter.
