Tourism can be both good and bad. Yes, it brings in money for the local economy and creates lots of jobs for locals, but it may also bring some problems.
One growing problem is tourists who want to prove that they have visited a destination. Tourists have used paint, rocks, or even keys to write on the Luxor Temple in Egypt, the Colosseum in Rome, Stonehenge in the UK, memorial stones at the bottom of Qomolangma, and many, many other places. Thousands of tourist sites are being destroyed by tourists who “love them to death”. I have three words for people like this: please stop it. If you want to leave a mark on the world, do it by changing someone’s life with kindness and love. Pass kindness along to future generations, not destruction (破坏).
Another big problem in some places has been tourists disturbing (打扰) the local people and life. Some tourists wander around and take pictures of local people without asking for their permission. For example, Chiang Mai University in Thailand and Yonsei University in South Korea have great numbers of tourists visiting their campuses and walking through their libraries and other public areas, taking pictures of students, and disturbing their studies. Another example is Sanlitun, a neighborhood in Beijing, China. Some tourists love to party there late into the night, making it difficult for locals to sleep. I have three words for tourists like this: please be considerate. Have fun in a way that does not disturb others.
The number of problems from tourists is endless: walking in large groups without considering others who need to walk by, crossing roads without thinking of local traffic laws, and many more. The only way to solve the problem of the terrible tourist is to make sure that you are not one ! Be the best, kindest, most polite tourist possible. Remember, whenever you step outside your country’s borders, you are representing (代表) your country to the rest of the world.

【导语】本文讲述了一个普通小事件如何被不断夸大,最终演变成一个离谱谣言的过程,反映了人们在传播信息时往往不求证就转述的现象。
【1题详解】
细节理解题。根据第一段“Jackson was walking home from school one afternoon when his untied shoelaces caught his foot. He almost fell.”可知,Jackson是在放学回家的路上走着时,鞋带绊住了脚,差点摔倒。故选C。
【2题详解】
词句猜测题。根据上下文推断,故事已发展到Jackson被车撞、流血不止,甚至失忆。最合理的过渡语句是更严重的版本,即“Jackson broke his leg and his head was hurt.”(Jackson摔断了腿,头部受伤),符合“▲”处传言升级的情节发展。故选D。

Dear Jim,
I have heard the news about ChatGPT, too. I believe it will influence our life in the near future._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Li Hua.
【答案】Dear Jim,
I have heard the news about ChatGPT, too. I believe it will influence our life in the near future.
In my opinion, there are three types of jobs that are likely to be replaced by AI in the near future: manual labor, repetitive tasks, and data analysis. Firstly, jobs that involve manual labor such as factory workers, construction workers, and farmers are likely to be replaced by machines. These machines can perform dangerous tasks with greater accuracy and efficiency than humans. Secondly, jobs that involve repetitive tasks such as data entry, customer service, and administration are also at risk. AI systems can automate these tasks, allowing companies to save time and money and reduce human errors. Lastly, jobs that involve data analysis, such as financial analysts and insurance underwriters, may also be impacted by AI.
As a middle school student, I think it’s important to prepare for the impact of AI on the job market. One way is to develop skills that are less likely to be replaced by AI, such as critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. Another way is to focus on careers that require human interaction, such as healthcare, education, and social services.
Thank you for starting this interesting discussion. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Li Hua
