【答案】18.A 19.B 20.C
W: This summer I joined a two-week summer camp in China. The camp was for language learning. The other campers and I learned Chinese through activities like storytelling and role-playing. In the first week, to use the vocabulary we’d learned in real-world situations, we were encouraged to buy vegetables at the market and book entry tickets to the museum. During the second week, the activities were richer. We attended classes in traditional Chinese art in the first three days, such as fan painting, paper cutting and Chinese calligraphy. It was so cool to drive out the summer heat with a fan painted by myself. Then the following day we went to eat traditional food there. We also spent two days visiting some places of interest, learning about the local history of the area. In the last day of our camp, we had a sharing session, during which we were asked to describe the part we like best of our camp. It was a hard choice. For me, every activity was fun — Chinese culture, the food and people all impressed me deeply. I hope to come again in the future.

If you have several credit cards and a mountain of debt to deal with and you’ve got enough money to pay more than the minimum payments, you need to consider which cards to throw extra money at first. This can be a real headache. Tally is a new app that promises to solve this problem. Here is my experience using it.
First, you’re walked through some introduction screens about the app and then guided to enter your credit card information. Although you can shun typing in that information by scanning your credit cards, the feature never worked when I used it. I had to enter my card information by myself.
I was then asked to hand over my online banking login credentials Tally then tries to connect to all my accounts. Next, Tally tries to qualify you for their line of credit. This is where I ended up getting stuck because the instructions didn’t spell out that they would only be doing a “soft pull” on my credit, rather than a “hard pull.” Whenever you apply for new credit, the lender will request a copy of your credit report. That’s called a hard pull, and too many of them can lower your credit score.
Fortunately, Tally uses a “soft pull.” A soft pull happens when a company asks for information about your credit, but it isn’t a part of a new credit application. Because of that, it doesn’t affect your credit score.
However, Tally doesn’t tell you that they’re going to do a soft pull until after you’ve entered all of your credit card information, birthday, and phone number. I had to stop midway because I thought Tally would do a hard pull, which I definitely didn’t want.
I continued through the process until I finally reached an explainer page saying they would only be conducting a soft pull. Tally could do a better job telling users this information earlier in the process.
24.What does the underlined word “shun” in paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.Avoid. B.Risk. C.Delay. D.Suggest.
25.Why did the author get stuck?
A.He misspelled his password. B.His credit score was too low.
C.He forgot his login credentials. D.He didn’t get specific instructions.
26.What does the author think of Tally?
A.It is cheap to download. B.It can replace credit cards.
C.It still has room to improve. D.It helps users save money.
27.What is the aim of the text?
A.To teach readers how to use an app. B.To tell the development of an app.
C.To show how to apply for a credit card. D.To stress the convenience of credit cards.
【答案】24.A 25.D 26.C 27.A
根据划线词后文“typing in that information by scanning your credit cards, the feature never worked when I used it. I had to enter my card information by myself(输入这些信息,但在我使用的时候,这项功能从来没有起过作用。我必须自己输入信用卡信息)”可知,可以通过扫描信用卡来避免自己输入这些信息,但是作者使用的时候不起作用,只能自己输入信息。故划线词意思是“避免”。故选A。
根据第三段“Next, Tally tries to qualify you for their line of credit. This is where I ended up getting stuck because the instructions didn’t spell out that they would only be doing a “soft pull” on my credit, rather than a “hard pull.”(接下来,Tally试图让你符合他们的信用额度。这就是我最终被卡住的地方,因为说明没有明确说明他们只会在我的信用上做“软查询”,而不是“硬查询”)”可知,故作者卡住是因为 Tally 的说明没有明确指出他们只会对作者的信用进行“软查询”,而不是“硬查询”。选D。
26.细节理解题。根据最后一段“I continued through the process until I finally reached an explainer page saying they would only be conducting a soft pull. Tally could do a better job telling users this information earlier in the process.(我继续这个过程,直到我最后看到一个解释页,上面说他们只会进行软查询。在这个过程的早期,Tally可以更好地告诉用户这些信息)”可知,作者认为Tally仍有改进的空间。故选C。
27.推理判断题。根据第一段“If you have several credit cards and a mountain of debt to deal with and you’ve got enough money to pay more than the minimum payments, you need to consider which cards to throw extra money at first. This can be a real headache. Tally is a new app that promises to solve this problem. Here is my experience using it.(如果你有几张信用卡和如山的债务要处理,你有足够的钱支付超过最低还款额,你需要考虑先把多余的钱扔在哪些信用卡上。这真的很让人头疼。一款新的应用程序Tally有望解决这个问题。以下是我使用它的经验)”以及本文主要讲述了作者使用Tally这款旨在解决多张信用卡债务问题的应用的经历。可知,这篇文章的目的是教读者如何使用一个应用程序。故选A。

Our planet set a record for completing one rotation faster than scientists had ever previously recorded, according to TimeAndDate.com. Earth rotated once around its axis on Wednesday, June 29, in 1.59 milliseconds less than 24 hours.
Hang on! Earth takes exactly 24 hours to rotate once on its axis (轴), right? Almost, yes, but not exactly.
Until a few years ago it had been thought that Earth’s rotation was slowing down after several successive measurements by atomic clocks since 1973. The International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS) had even begun adding leap seconds every now and again to make up for the slower spin. Over a longer time period that may still be the case — earth’s rotation may, in general, still be slowing down. After all, the Moon is gradually slowing down the Earth’s rotation. Its gravitational pull causes tides and makes the Earth’s orbital path around the Sun Slightly-elliptical (椭圆形).
However, in the last few years the atomic clocks have shown that Earth rotation is now speeding up. In fact, we could be beginning a 50 year period of shorter days. In 2020 scientists recorded the 28 shortest days since 1960. Last year that trend did not continue, with the shortest day in 2021 being longer than in the previous year.
However, on June 29,2022 our planet completed its quickest-ever spin, followed quickly by a day that lasted 1.50 milliseconds less on July 26,2022. The previous record for the shortest rotation was July 19,2020, when the Earth’ s rotation took 1.4602 milliseconds less than 24 hours.
The cause of the differing speed of Earth’s spin is unknown, but theories abound: the melting of the glaciers means less weight on the poles, motions of our planet’s inner molten (熔融的) core, seismic (地震的) activity, and the “Chandler wobble (摇晃)” — the movement of Earth’ s geographical poles across its surface.
Earth’s quickening rotation has consequences because atomic clocks — which are used in GPS satellites — don’t take into account the Earth’s changing rotation. If Earth spins faster then it gets to the same position a little earlier. A half-a-millisecond equates to 10-inches or 26 centimetres at the equator. In short, GPS satellites — which already have to be corrected for the effect of Einstein’s general relativity theory — are quickly going to become useless. There are also potentially confusing consequences for smartphones, computers and communications systems, which move at the same time and speed with Network Time Protocol (NTP) servers. It’s defined as the number of seconds since 00:00:00 UTC on January 1,1970.
To solve all this international timekeepers may need to add a negative leap second — a “drop second.” Though Earth may already be spinning as quickly as it ever will, with a slowdown inevitable.
Only time will tell.
28.According to the article, what happened on June 29 that set a new record?
A.Earth rotated faster than ever before.
B.Earth rotated slower than ever before.
C.Earth’s rotation matched exactly 24 hours.
D.Earth’s rotation stopped momentarily.
29.What was the general belief about Earth’s rotation until a few years ago?
A.It was accelerating its speed. B.It was remaining constant.
C.It was reducing its speed. D.It varied between rising and falling.
30.What was the shortest day recorded in 2020?
A.December 31. B.June 29. C.July 19. D.July 26.
31.What is one consequence of Earth’s quickening rotation for GPS satellites?
A.They start to slow down. B.They become more accurate.
C.They gain relativity immunity. D.They need to be corrected again.
【答案】28.A 29.C 30.C 31.D
根据第一段“Our planet set a record for completing one rotation faster than scientists had ever previously recorded, according to TimeAndDate.com. Earth rotated once around its axis on Wednesday, June 29, in 1.59 milliseconds less than 24 hours. (据TimeAndDate.com报道,我们的星球以比科学家们此前记录的速度更快完成一次自转,创下了纪录。6月29日(星期三),地球绕地轴自转一周的时间比24小时少了1.59毫秒)”可知,6月29日地球自转速度比以往任何时候都快,创下了新纪录。故选A。
根据第三段中“Until a few years ago it had been thought that Earth’s rotation was slowing down after several successive measurements by atomic clocks since 1973. (直到几年前,人们一直认为,自1973年以来,经过原子钟的几次连续测量,地球的自转速度正在减慢)”可知,直到几年前,人们普遍认为地球的自转速度在减慢。故选C。
30.细节理解题。根据第五段中“The previous record for the shortest rotation was July 19, 2020, when the Earth’s rotation took 1.4602 milliseconds less than 24 hours. (此前最短自转的纪录是2020年7月19日,当时地球自转时间比24小时少了1.4602毫秒)”以及第四段中“In 2020 scientists recorded the 28 shortest days since 1960. (2020年,科学家们记录了自1960年以来最短的28天)”可知,2020年记录的最短的一天是7月19日。故选C。
31.细节理解题。根据倒数第三段中“Earth’s quickening rotation has consequences because atomic clocks — which are used in GPS satellites — don’t take into account the Earth’s changing rotation. If Earth spins faster then it gets to the same position a little earlier. A half-a-millisecond equates to 10-inches or 26 centimetres at the equator. In short, GPS satellites — which already have to be corrected for the effect of Einstein’s general relativity theory — are quickly going to become useless. (地球自转加快会产生后果,因为GPS卫星使用的原子钟没有考虑到地球自转的变化。如果地球自转速度加快,那么它到达同一位置的时间就会稍早一些。在赤道上,半毫秒相当于10英寸或26厘米。简而言之,GPS卫星已经需要校正爱因斯坦广义相对论的影响,很快就会变得毫无用处)”可知,地球自转加快对GPS卫星的一个后果是它们需要再次进行校正。故选D。

Researchers have discovered that a daily dose of vinegar (醋) could better the indicators of depressive disorders, pointing to the possibility that future treatments might come with a few spoonfuls of sour.
A team led by Arizona State University not only tested the effects of regular vinegar consumption but also looked at metabolic activity — the chemical processes that transform food into energy and other biological materials — to look for reasons for the benefits seen with vinegar. A significant boost in the levels of nicotinamide (烟酰胺), an important factor influencing depression, was found across the study participants who took liquid vinegar each day.
“This data provides additional support that daily vinegar consumption over four weeks can improve self-reported depression symptoms (症状) in generally healthy adults and that changes in metabolism may factor into this improvement,” write dietician Haley Barrong and her team in the paper.
The trial was completed by a total of 28 overweight but otherwise healthy adults, who were split into two groups; one group taking two tablespoons of red wine vinegar twice daily, and the other group taking a daily pill with a very small amount of vinegar in it.
Across the course of the four-week experiment, the participants were asked to answer questions across two standard mental health surveys: the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression (CES-D) questionnaire, and the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9).
Although there was no significant difference between the groups on the CES-D and on the PHQ-9, there was an average drop of 42 percent in depressive symptoms for the high vinegar level group compared with 18 percent for the control group taking the vinegar pill.
But the research has its drawbacks: the patients had low-level depression to begin with, the improvements in PHQ-9 symptoms were not significant in a secondary analysis that was adjusted for baseline survey scores and the sample size was relatively small. But Barrong and her team say the findings allow a closer look at the relationship.
“Depressive disorders are the most widespread mental health conditions in the world, and future research will examine the effects of vinegar administration in clinically depressed or at-risk populations,” write the researchers.
32.What is the relationship between nicotinamide and depression symptoms?
A.The appearance of nicotinamide in the body causes depression symptoms.
B.The higher the nicotinamide levels, the less serious depression symptoms.
C.The more severe the depression symptoms, the higher nicotinamide levels.
D.Depression symptoms remain unchanged regardless of nicotinamide levels.
33.How was vinegar’s effect on depression measured?
A.By tracking participants’ metabolic activity.
B.By monitoring participants’ weight changes.
C.By examining nicotinamide levels in participants’ blood.
D.By assessing participants’ responses to mental health surveys.
34.What limitation did the researchers acknowledge in their study?
A.It had limited involvement of participants.
B.It failed to take account of the participants’ diet.
C.The measurement tools used were not precise enough.
D.The follow-up period was too short to observe long-term effects.
35.Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A.The Impact of Vinegar on Metabolic Activity
B.Vinegar as a Potential Treatment for Depression
C.The Role of Nicotinamide in Depression Treatment
D.The Limitations of Clinical Trials in Mental Health Research
【答案】32.B 33.D 34.A 35.B
根据文章第二段的“A significant boost in the levels of nicotinamide (烟酰胺), an important factor influencing depression, was found across the study participants who took liquid vinegar each day.(研究发现,每天饮用液体醋的参与者体内的烟酰胺水平显著提高,而烟酰胺是影响抑郁症的重要因素。)”以及第三段的“This data provides additional support that daily vinegar consumption over four weeks can improve self-reported depression symptoms (症状) in generally healthy adults and that changes in metabolism may factor into this improvement(这些数据提供了额外的支持,即在一般健康的成年人中,每天食用醋超过四周可以改善自我报告的抑郁症状,新陈代谢的变化可能是这种改善的因素之一)”可知,烟酰胺水平越高,抑郁症状越轻。故选B。
根据文章第五段的“Across the course of the four-week experiment, the participants were asked to answer questions across two standard mental health surveys: the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression (CES-D) questionnaire, and the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9).(在为期四周的实验过程中,参与者被要求回答两项标准心理健康调查中的问题:流行病学研究中心抑郁症问卷(CES-D)和患者健康问卷(PHQ-9)。)”
根据倒数第二段的“But the research has its drawbacks: the patients had low-level depression to begin with, the improvements in PHQ-9 symptoms were not significant in a secondary analysis that was adjusted for baseline survey scores and the sample size was relatively small.(但这项研究也有其不足之处:患者一开始就患有低水平的抑郁症,PHQ-9症状的改善在根据基线调查得分进行调整的二次分析中并不显著,而且样本量相对较小。)” 故选A。
文章第一段指出“Researchers have discovered that a daily dose of vinegar (醋) could better the indicators of depressive disorders, pointing to the possibility that future treatments might come with a few spoonfuls of sour.(研究人员发现,每天吃一勺醋可以改善抑郁症的症状,这表明未来的治疗可能会伴随着几勺醋。)”

Chinese Chess, also known as Xiangqi, is a timeless board game in Chinese culture. The exact origin of Chinese Chess remains a topic of debate among scholars, but many believe the game with 32 pieces 56 (invent) to mirror the battle at the Hong Canal during the Chu-Han Period. Initially 57 game for the upper class, Chinese Chess rapidly gained popularity and eventually spread throughout Chinese society. However, it was not until the end of the Northern Song Dynasty 58 Chinese Chess evolved into its finalized pattern—the chessboard with Boundary River as well as the rules of the game.
Far more than a form of entertainment, Chinese Chess serves 59 a profound mental exercise. The game combines elements of strategy, calculation and prediction, thus 60 (promote) people’s logical thinking, planning and tactics as well as character cultivation. There are many sayings in Chinese culture that 61 (direct) reflect the spirit of chess. For example, a Chinese saying “watching without telling, a true gentleman” indicates that people with good manners or qualities should simply observe what is going on without giving unasked-for advice 62 (show) respect for others.
As a cultural treasure meant for all, Chinese Chess is going 63 (globe). It is now enjoyed by over a billion fans, most of 64 are in China, Vietnam, Singapore and other Asian countries. Chinese Chess tournaments at the regional and international levels take place in the world every year. Technological innovations, such as online platforms and mobile applications, are enabling 65 (enthusiast) to connect, compete and communicate with each other regardless of geographic barriers. Young generations of chess players continue to carry the torch with shared passion.

故填was invented。
故填a。
本句为强调句,其基本形式为“It is/was + 被强调部分 + that/who + 其他部分”,这里强调的是时间状语 “not until the end of the Northern Song Dynasty”,当被强调部分是物时,用that。故填that。
故填as。
故填 to show。

As the school year ended and winter broke began. Emma, Sam, and Sophia planned a perfect day at their favorite community park. This tidy little park was their go-to spot for unwinding (放松) and just enjoying some precious leisure time, even in the cold.
Emma rushed ahead with a soccer ball under his arm, his breath visible in the frosty air. Sam and Sophia trailed closely behind, their cheeks rosy from the chill (寒冷). It was the kind of winter day that promised endless fun and carefree laughter, with the possibility of a snowball fight or two. But as they stepped into the park, their hearts sank. The once-beloved playground, usually blanketed in thick snow, was now a chaotic mess of discarded (丢弃) trash — candy wrappers stuck in the icy slide’s metal bars, plastic bottles half-buried in the snow, and chip bags rolling in the wind.
“Look at this!” Sam shouted in disbelief as she pointed to the garbage near the swings.
Emma’s face darkened with frustration. The three friends stood frozen, not just from the cold, but from the shock of seeing their favorite winter retreat so disrespected. The once clean slides and swings were now buried under a layer of trash and ice. Sam cast a glance at the walking trails, where garbage seemed to have taken over, with discarded bags and cans lying everywhere, some even poking out of the snowbanks. Sophia looked out at the snowy fields — a disaster. The park was vast, but every corner seemed to have been touched by the carelessness of others.
“Who would be so thoughtless?” Emma whispered, shaking his head.
Sophia kicked a plastic bottle in anger, sending it skidding across the icy grass. “It’s not just thoughtless — it’s disrespectful.”
Sam sighed thoughtfully but suddenly her face lit up. “We can’t just leave it like this. Why don’t we do something about it? We can, say, form a Cleanup Squad...” she said, her voice soft but firm, carrying a warmth that cut through the winter chill.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;
Emma and Sophia exchanged an excited glance.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Unexpectedly, other park-goers joined in as they did the cleanup.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Emma and Sophia exchanged an excited glance. The idea of forming a Cleanup Squad sparked a fire. Without hesitation, Emma grabbed a trash bag from his backpack, and Sophia dashed to the park’s storage shed, returning with a few more bags and gloves. “Let’s start with the playground,” Emma suggested. Sophia nodded. Sam, meanwhile, began clearing the trails, her determination evident in every step.
Unexpectedly, other park-goers joined in as they did the cleanup. Some kids playing nearby noticed that and ran over, asking if they could help. An elderly couple walking their dog paused, then began picking up trash. Before long, what had started as a small act of three friends had turned into a community effort. The park slowly regained its former charm. In the end, the park was nearly spotless. Exhausted but proud, their hearts full. They had cleaned their favorite place and inspired others to take action — proving that kindness and teamwork could melt even the coldest indifference.

And why have you decided to become AP. E teacher? I want to inspire and help Young people to do sports. I believe it's important to them at school, and playing sports is my favorite. Oh, mine is watching sports. Well, why do you think IT is so important? Firstly, IT helps Young people keep fit both physically and mentally. Besides, doing sports can reduce the pressure of study, helping them learn more effectively. Finally, playing sports teaches Young people life lessons like responsibility and teamwork. OK jack, let's stop here today. I'll let you know the result soon. Listen to the next question. Here you come. Finally, Julia, we are worried about you. Where have you been all these days? Thank you, alan. I'm fine. I've been helping my ant on her farm. but you look upset. What happened? I couldn't . join the international voluntary team to morroco. It's a pity. How come my father doesn't agree? He thinks going abroad is too dangerous. He once went to tanzania in eastern africa on business where he experienced something unpleasant. I've explained to him that the situation was not like what he thought, but he insisted on his opinion and asked me to travel only across new zala. We almost argued over that I . can understand his worry. He just cares about you too much. How about your mother? My mother stands by me. SHE thinks what I want to do is worth my while, but SHE fails to persuade my father to give up his idea. Then what do you plan to do this holiday? I don't know what's your advice. If I were you, I would learn something new, like programming last year, island and driving during the holiday. The swimming course was also part of my plan, but that was not enough time. Thank you, Allen. I'll consider. Here you come. Finally, Julia, we are worried about you. Where have you been all these days? Thank you, Allan. I'm fine. The other campers and I learned chinese through activities like storytelling and row playing. In the first week to use the vocabulary we'd learned in real world situations, we were encouraged to buy vegetables at the market and book entry tickets to the museum. During the second week, the activities were richer. We attended classes in traditional chinese art in the first three days, such as fan painting, paper cutting and chinese collection. Phy IT was so cool to drive out the summer heat with a fan painted by myself. Then the following day, we went to eat traditional food there. We also spent two days visiting some places of interest, learning about the local history of the area. In the last day of our camp, we had a sharing session during which we were asked to describe the part we like. Best of our camp, IT was a hard choice for me. Every activity was fun. Chinese culture, the food and people all impressed me deeply. I hope to come again in the future. This summer, I joined a two week summer camp in china. The camp was for language learning.

注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;
