Tan Ting was born in the 1990s in Daliang Mountains, Sichuan. She had a difficult childhood before becoming the first deaf lawyer in China. When she was 8, she lost her hearing because of a wrong kind of medicine. She later went to a special school to continue studying. At first, she wanted to be a teacher at a special school, but as growing up and studying, Tan met many people like her. They live a really hard life because of being deaf, and when some legal problems happened, there was little help they can get. After a long time of study, Tan passed the Legal Exam. She is now working on both legal knowledge education and legal aid for people like her and is trying her best to help them live and study. The classes she gives are free and she usually has to answer more than 10 video calls in a day to help deaf people solve legal problems. Because they can only talk through sign languages (手语), a call often takes more than 30 minutes.
Tan’s hard work made more people understand deaf people’s problems with law. There are more people in Tan’s team now. “Before me, there were also many lawyers learning sign languages, but as one of the deaf, I believe I share their feelings and can help them better.” Tan told people, “I will keep trying my best to let justice (正义) be heard by the silent world.”

People often set many alarms to wake themselves up for fear of oversleeping. However, this can be bad for one’s health because it makes sleep quality poorer, according to Brandon Peters, a doctor from Virginia Mason Franciscan Health in Seattle, US.
A good sleep happens in cycles, according to Medical News Today. Each cycle has four stages (阶段). During stage one, we go into a light sleep. Our body relaxes and our heartbeat (心跳) slows. As we fall deeper into sleep, stage two begins. Our eyes stop moving and our body temperature drops. Then comes the third stage which is the deepest sleep and also the hardest for people to wake up from.
Last is the fourth stage, known as rapid eye movement sleep, or REM sleep. Our eyes move rapidly from side to side during this stage. At the same time, our breathing picks up and our heartbeat rises.
REM sleep is very important because most of our dreams take place during it. This allows our brain to process emotions. REM sleep also helps the brain turn the new knowledge learned during the day into memories. When we get enough REM sleep, it is easier to focus on studying the next day, said the National Sleep Foundation of the US.
Since REM sleep mostly takes place in the last hours of a night’s sleep, it is a bad idea to disrupt (打扰) it with alarms ringing one after another.
“My general advice is that you set one alarm,” said Alicia Roth at the Cleveland Clinic in the US. She also suggested that people try alarms that use light, not sound, to wake up, according to CNN.
70.What happens to our body during REM sleep?
A. Our heartbeat slows. B. Our breathing becomes faster.
C. Our eyes stop moving. D. Our body temperature drops.
71.What does Alicia Roth probably agree with?
A. It is important to wake up naturally.
B. Sound alarms are better than light alarms.
C. Setting many alarms can help prevent oversleeping.
D. It’s better to avoid disturbing REM sleep with sounds.
72.What is the best title for the text?
A. One alarm is enough B. Four stages of sleep
C. Let’s deal with oversleep D. How to improve sleep quality

At first, she wanted to be a teacher at a special school, but as growing up and studying, Tan met many people like her. They live a really hard life because of being deaf, and when some legal problems happened, there was little help they can get. That made Tan decide to take the first step to be a lawyer to help these people.

A. the special school Tan went to
B. the accident in Tan’s childhood
C. Tan’s personal legal problems
D. deaf people’s need for legal help
69.According to the passage, we can infer that _________.

【答案】B、D、A
【解析】【文章大意】本文主要讨论了使用多个闹钟可能对睡眠产生负面影响,影响睡眠质量,尤其是打断重要的快速眼动睡眠。
70. 根据第二段中的内容Our eyes move quickly from side to side during this step. At the same time, our breathing picks up and our heartbeat rises.”(在这个阶段中,我们的眼睛会快速左右移动。同时,我们的呼吸变得急促,心跳也随之加快。)可知,可知,在REM(快速眼动睡眠)阶段,我们的呼吸会变得更快。故选B。
71. 根据最后一段中的内容“My general advice is that you set one alarm,” said Alicia Roth at the Cleveland Clinic in the US. She also suggested that people try alarms that use light, not sound, to wake up, according to CNN.(“我的建议是,你只设一个闹钟,”美国克利夫兰诊所的艾丽西亚·罗丝说,她还建议人们尝试使用光,不是声音的闹钟,根据美国有线电视新闻网。)
故选A。

In front of a camera, a 30-year-old lawyer, Tan Ting is giving an online class about legal (法律的) knowledge, with full energy and confidence. The only unusual thing is that there is no sound throughout the whole class.
That made Tan decide to take the first step to be a lawyer to help these people.
