A. That B. It C. As D. Such 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】考查主语从句和形式主语。 2. He is thought ___foolishly .Now he has no one but himself to blame for losing the job. A. to act B. to have acted C. acting D. having acted 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】考查动词不定式。 It is thought/ believed/ ...that sb have/has done... 该结构可转化为sb is thought/believed +不定式的完成式。故选B项。 3. A Peking Opera performance is a magical ________ of drama, music, song, dance, mime, acrobatics, fantastic makeup and costumes. A. connection B. bond C. relationship D. combination 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】考查名词词义辨析。 A. variation变化; B. bond纽带; C. relationship关系; D. combination结合。 D。 4. I’d appreciate ________ if you could let me know in advance whether or not you will come. A. it B. you C. one D. this 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】考查it用法。 故选A。 We shall appreciate hearing from you again. I appreciate that you have come here so early. 正:I appreciate your kindness. I appreciate you for your kindness. 正:He thanked her for her kindness. 误:He thanked her kindness. 3)后接if或when从句时习惯上要先接it。 I would appreciate it very much if you would help me with it. We really appreciate it when she offered to help. 如:I deeply appreciateyour kindness. He highly appreciated their help. We much appreciate your invitation.正:We appreciate your invitation very much. 误:We appreciate your invitation much. 5. ______ makes this shop different is that it offers more personal services. A. What B. Who C. Whatever D. Whoever 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】考查主语从句。 A。 6. It doesn’t ________ how we actually look — the only thing that’s important is ________ we feel about ourselves. A. emphasize; what B. matter; how C. stress; which D. count; why 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】考查动词和表语从句引导词辨析。 A. emphasize; what强调,所……的;B. matter; how重要,如何;C. stress; which强调,哪一个;D. count; why重要,为什么。 B。 7. —Remember? He can make a fire by rubbing pieces of wood together. That’s pretty clever. ________. —I think so, too. A. Are you serous? B. What’s your take on this? C. How is it going? D. A. what; that B. what; what C. which; which D. that; that 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】考查宾语从句和定语从句。 A。 10. These shoes look very good. I wonder ________. A. how much cost they are B. how much do they cost C. how much they cost D. how much are they cost 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】考查宾语从句。 C。 14. Mary wrote an article on the team had failed to win the game. The freeing of slaves started with Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation (解放宜言) on September 22, 1862. Emancipation means setting free from another’s power. When slaves were emancipated, they were made into free men and women. The Emancipation Proclamation became official on January 1,1863, but it wasn’t until two and a half year later on June 19, 1865, that the last of the slaves in Texas were freed. Some slaves stayed on the plantations, and kept on working. The difference was that they were now free workers, and were paid. But many more left the plantations, as they felt that this was the first step toward freedom. Some went north and others headed off to find family in neighboring states. It was a very insecure time for the former slaves as they tried to fit into a society that had previously only thought of them as slaves. The celebration of June 19th every year gave stability to the lives of the members of the black community as they established themselves. Soon the June 19th celebration was known as “Juneteenth”. However, towards the turn of the century, the Juneteenth celebrations began to die down. Young people didn’t feel the same connection with the emancipation of the slaves. During the time of the Depression many people moved into cities, and it was difficult for them to take time off to celebrate Juneteenth. Then, during the Civil Rights movements of the 1950s and 1960s, Juneteenth celebrations gathered new strength. On January 1, 1980, the Juneteenth celebrations received status as an official state holiday in Texas. Since then several states have followed Texas in making Juneteenth a state holiday. Juneteenth is a time for African-Americans and others living in the community to get together and celebrate their freedom. But why is this celebration still important today? To many African-Americans, Juneteenth is as important as any country’s Independence Day. It is a celebration of freedom and togetherness. 36. What is the purpose of the Juneteenth celebration? A. I immediately sat back. The smell ruined my appetite, and I pushed the dish away. “It’s supposed to stink. Just give it a try!” my grandmother said. Holding my breath, I unwillingly took a bite. To my surprise, the tofu beneath the fried skin was warm, soft, and mouthwatering. Since then, whenever I visited my grandmother’s house, I would rush to the kitchen for the stinky tofu with excitement. Thus, stinky tofu became more than a household tradition. It became my favorite dish. Along with the stinky tofu, I would meet my Uncle Chan on every visit. As an immature boy, I never understood my uncle’s condition of Down syndrome He was an unfriendly and terrible creature in my eyes. He constantly walked around the house, talking to himself. Whenever he was within view, I would runaway in fear. However, one day, my view of my uncle suddenly changed. I was just getting out of my bed when I heard soft steps approaching. It was my uncle. My muscles froze. He slowly sat next to me and touched my face gently, as a mother would stroke (抚摸) a baby. A wide smile emerged from his blank expression. How beautiful his smile was! I could not help but smile back. My fear disappeared gradually and my muscles relaxed. For the first time, I could see softness and warmth in his eyes. My uncle very much resembles stinky tofu. Stinky tofu smells unpleasant on the outside, yet feels warm and soft on the inside. Like stinky tofu, my uncle’s Down syndrome made me keep my distance at first. Yet, I learned that deep inside, he is harmless and has a loving nature. Some people tend to look down upon disabled people and regard them as unfit for a regular life. As I was unable to see through the outer surface of the tofu, these people are unable to see through the surface of prejudice. As a result, they judge the disabled with one glance. The outside and inside of the stinky tofu exist as two extremely different worlds. Perhaps that is what makes it such a tasty dish. Not only is it delicious stinky tofu offers a valuable lesson: never judge people at first glance, for true beauty comes from the inside. 41. What was the author’s initial reaction to the smell of the stinky tofu? A. He was so excited as to try it at once. B. He felt sick and moved the dish out of his reach. C. He was curious and wanted to know more about it. D. He was indifferent and didn’t care about the smell. 42. When did the author’s initial impression of her Uncle Chan change? A. After he tasted the stinky tofu for the first time. B. When he first met him at her grandmother’s house. C. During a personal encounter where he showed him kindness. D. When he learned more about his condition of Down syndrome. 43. How did the author’s idea of her Uncle Chan change over time? A. He became more afraid of him as he grew older. B. He always saw him as a strange and frightful person. C. He hardly understood his condition and always avoided him. D. He feared him due to his condition at first but saw his virtues later. 44. The comparison between stinky tofu and the author’s uncle serves to ________. A. describe a precious childhood memory B. highlight the nature of Uncle Chan C. introduce a traditional Chinese food D. analyze the family relationship 45. What is the main message the author wants to convey in writing the passage? A. That stinky tofu is a delicious and valuable dish. B. That family traditions are important and should be cherished. C. That disabled people should be treated with sympathy and pity. D. That one shouldn’t judge a person based on outward appearances. 41. B 42. C 43. D 44. B 45. However, it’s not safe or practical to inform drivers of the information unless you know the state of the driver,” said Dr Bashar Ahmad from Cambridge’s Department of Engineering. Ahmad, together with other researchers, developed an algorithm (算法) to address this problem. The algorithm analyzes the driver’s behaviour, road conditions etc. to measure the driver’s workload so that the driver and the in-vehicle systems such as navigation (导航) and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) could interact at the right time. “Driving in an unfamiliar area may mean a high workload, so we should avoid flustering the driver then, while driving in our neighborhood may involve a lower workload, making it the right time for a message to appear on a screen,” said Ahmad. To measure drivers’ workload, the researchers first collected, in an automated way, drivers’ subjective workload information during driving. For the experiment, a phone showing a route on a navigation app was fixed to the car, next to a small LED ring light that would flash at regular periods. Participants all followed the same route through a mix of rural, urban and main roads. They were asked to push a finger-worn button whenever the LED light turned red and they perceived they were in a low-workload situation. Video analysis of the experiment, paired with the data from the buttons, allowed the researchers to identify high-workload situations. The researchers used the on-road data to develop a machine learning framework to assess drivers based on their average workload, and a Bayesian filtering approach (贝叶斯滤波法) to estimate the drivers’ real-time workload. “Most machine learning applications like this are trained on data from a particular driver, but this application enables us to adjust the models accordingly using a simple Bayesian filtering technique,” said Ahmad. “It can easily adjust to different road types and conditions, or different drivers using the same car.” “This research is vital for understanding the impact of our design from a user’s perspective, so that we can continually improve safety and driving experiences,” said Senior Technical Specialist Dr Lee Skrypchuk. 46 What is the main function of Ahmad’s algorithm? A. Assessing people’s driving skills. B. Stimulating drivers’ best driving state. C. Collecting traffic information from surrounding areas. D. Finding the appropriate time for driver-vehicle interactions. 47. What does the underlined word “flustering” in paragraph 2 mean? A. Blaming. B. Monitoring. C. Disturbing. D. Restricting. 48. What did pressing a finger-worn button indicate in the experiment? A. The driver requested a speed increase. B. The driver was in a relaxed driving state. C. The driver had switched on the headlights. D. The driver encountered complex road conditions. 49. What distinguishes this machine learning application from many others? A. It is highly adaptable. B. It is of amazing accuracy. C. It needs simple data processing. D. It is limited to specific drivers. 50. Which can be the best title for the text? A. Machine Learning for Improving Road Safety B. ADAS:A Model for Future Autonomous Driving C. The Wide Application of New In-Vehicle Systems D. Autonomous Vehicles: Redefining the Driving Experience 【答案】46. D 47. C 48. B 49. A 50. 根据划线词所在句““Driving in an unfamiliar area may mean a high workload, so we should avoid flustering the driver then, while driving in our neighborhood may involve a lower workload, making it the right time for a message to appear on a screen,” said Ahmad.(“在不熟悉的地区驾驶可能意味着工作负荷很大,所以我们应该避免flustering驾驶员,而在我们附近驾驶可能意味着工作负荷较低,这是屏幕上出现信息的合适时机”Ahmad说)”可知,前后句为转折关系,后文提到附近驾驶意味着工作负荷较低,是屏幕上出现信息的合适时机,那么前文应是指在不熟悉的地区驾驶可能意味着工作负荷很大,所以要避免打扰驾驶员,因此划线词flustering的意思是“打扰”。 根据第三段中“They were asked to push a finger-worn button whenever the LED light turned red and they perceived they were in a low-workload situation. 根据倒数第二段中““Most machine learning applications like this are trained on data from a particular driver, but this application enables us to adjust the models accordingly using a simple Bayesian filtering technique,” said Ahmad.(“大多数像这样的机器学习应用程序都是在特定驾驶员的数据上进行训练的,但这个应用程序使我们能够使用简单的贝叶斯过滤技术相应地调整模型”Ahmad说)”和“It can easily adjust to different road types and conditions, or different drivers using the same car. 故选A。 根据第一段中““More and more data are made available to drivers through in-vehicle systems. However, it’s not safe or practical to inform drivers of the information unless you know the state of the driver,” said Dr Bashar Ahmad from Cambridge’s Department of Engineering. 和第二段中“Ahmad, together with other researchers, developed an algorithm (算法) to address this problem. 故选A。 grace expose resemble boost overlook bother terrify assume acknowledge infer departure 51. I still remember that chilly December day, sitting in science class. I’d finished a worksheet early and picked up a Time for Kids magazine. A piece of news caught my eye. NASA was holding an essay contest to name its Mars rover Before I even knew anything else about it, a single word flooded my 11-year-old mind: Curiosity. I couldn’t wait for the bell to ring so I could get started on my essay. That afternoon, I raced home, sat down at the computer, and typed until my fingers ached. “Curiosity is an everlasting flame that burns in everyone’s mind…” Five months later, my mom received a phone call, and immediately, a wide smile spread across her face. On August 5, 2012, at 10:31 p.m., the rover named Curiosity touched down safely on the surface of Mars, and I was honored to have a front-row seat in NASA. Curiosity is such an important part of who I am. I have always been fascinated by the stars, the planets, the sky and the universe. I remember as a little girl, my grandmother and I would sit together in the backyard for hours. She’d tell me stories and point out the stars. Grandma lived in China, thousands of miles away from my home in Kansas, but the stars kept us together even when we were apart. They were always there, yet there was so much I didn’t know about them. That’s what I love so much about space. People often ask me why we go to faraway places like Mars. My answer is simple because we’re curious. We human beings do not just hole up in one place. We are constantly wondering and trying to find out what’s over the hill and beyond the horizon. 71. How did Clara get the news about the essay contest? (no more than 10 words) 72. Why did Clara have a front-row seat in NASA? (no more than 10 words) 73. What does Clara remember about the time spent with Grandma? (no more than 15 words) 74. What does the underlined phrase “hole up” mean? (1 word) 75. In your opinion, why is curiosity important? (no more than 20 words) 【答案】71. By reading a Time for Kids magazine. Or: From a Time for Kids magazine 72. She won the essay contest held by NASA. Or: She named the Mars rover “Curiosity”. Or: “Curiosity” was chosen as the name of the Mars rover. 73. She sat together with Grandma listening to her stories about stars. Or: Her grandma told her stories about stars. Or: They sat together talking about stars. 74. Stay/Remain/Live/Hide 75. Curiosity is important because it leads to discovery or inventions. Or: With curiosity, we keep asking questions and exploring the world unknown. Or: Curiosity drives us through our lives so that we never stop wondering about the things beyond our knowledge. 根据文章第一段“I’d finished a worksheet early and picked up a Time for Kids magazine. She’d tell me stories and point out the stars”可知,我记得当我还是个小女孩的时候,我和祖母会在后院一起坐上几个小时。 She sat together with Grandma listening to her stories about stars. Or: Her grandma told her stories about stars. Or: They sat together talking about stars. 根据“We are constantly wondering and trying to find out what’s over the hill and beyond the horizon.” 故答案为:Stay/Remain/Live/Hide. 根据最后一段“People often ask me why we go to faraway places like Mars. My answer is simple because we’re curious. We human beings do not just hole up in one place. We are constantly wondering and trying to find out what’s over the hill and beyond the horizon.” Curiosity is important because it leads to discovery or inventions. Or: With curiosity, we keep asking questions and exploring the world unknown. Or: Curiosity drives us through our lives so that we never stop wondering about the things beyond our knowledge. 参考表达: 人类命运共同体 a human community with a shared future 注意: (1) 词数不少于100; (2) 开头和结尾已给出,不计入总词数。 Ladies and gentlemen, Good afternoon! I am Li Jian from Huaxing Middle School. The topic of my speech is “Actions for Greener Earth”. Nowadays, our planet is facing numerous environmental challenges. Industrial waste and pollutants are contaminating water sources, while excessive carbon emissions lead to global warming, which is endangering countless species. Additionally, deforestation and urban expansion have drastically reduced the habitats of wild animals, pushing many of them to the brink of extinction. To address these issues, we should take immediate actions. First, we can promote green transportation, such as cycling and taking public transit, which helps reduce carbon emissions. Second, governments should establish more nature reserves where endangered species can thrive and reproduce safely. Let’s work together to build a human community with a shared future. Only when everyone takes responsibility can we protect our green Earth and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come. Thank you! 词汇积累 导致:lead to→result in 除此之外:additionally→in addition 解决:address→solve 促进:promote→enhance 2. Additionally, deforestation and urban expansion have drastically reduced the habitats of wild animals, pushing many of them to the brink of extinction. Additionally, deforestation and urban expansion, which have drastically reduced the habitats of wild animals, are pushing many of them to the brink of extinction. 1】Industrial waste and pollutants are contaminating water sources, while excessive carbon emissions lead to global warming, which is endangering countless species.(运用了which引导的非限定性定语从句) 【高分句型2】Second, governments should establish more nature reserves where endangered species can thrive and reproduce safely.(运用了where引导的限定性定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 天津市耀华中学2024-2025学年度第二学期期中学情调研 高二年级英语学科 本试卷分为第Ⅰ卷(选择题)和第Ⅱ卷(非选择题)两部分,共100分,考试时间为100分钟。 1. However towards the turn of the century, the Juneteenth celebrations began to die down. A. To memorize heroes of the Civil War. B. To honor the liberation of the slaves. C. To celebrate the Independence Day. D. To bring African-Americans together again. 37. Why do many people left the plantations after they were free? A. They thought they were not well-paid. B. They wanted to find a safe place. C. They had no place to stay there. D. They thought it as the first step towards freedom. 38. What is the difference for the former slaves working on the plantations after June 19,1865? A. They were free workers doing a paying job. B. They became owners of the plantations. C. They naturally fitted into the society. D. They didn’t get real freedom. 39. When did Juneteenth celebrations become official in Texas? A. On September 22, 1862. B. On January 1, 1863. C. On June 19, 1865. D. On January 1, 1980. 40. What can we learn from the text? A. It took three years for all slaves to get freedom. B. Juneteenth celebrations have been popular all the time. C. African-Americans placed a high value on Juneteenth. D. Depression boosted the development of Juneteenth celebrations. B An unpleasant smell floated into my nose as the bowl of fried stinky tofu (臭豆腐) settled onto my grandmother’s dinner table. Not only is it delicious, stinky tofu offers a valuable lesson: never judge people at first glance, for true beauty comes from the inside. C “More and more data are made available to drivers through in-vehicle systems. 46. What is the main function of Ahmad’s algorithm? People often ask me why we go to faraway places like Mars My answer is simple because we’re curious. (no more than 20 words) 参考表达: 人类命运共同体 a human community with a shared future 注意: (1) 词数不少于100; (2) 开头和结尾已给出,不计入总词数。 Ladies and gentlemen, Good afternoon!
