Catherine, I think we can have robots make medicine for us. In the new factory. You see, we make ten different kinds of medicine, but each Operation only has four procedures. How many robots do we need then, mike. for the first robot, measure and mix the materials for the medicine. The second robot pour the mixed materials into the bottles. Then the third robot put on the stickers. The last robot packed the bottles into boxes. And what if the robots break down? The robot company will send a mechanic here within an hour. Also, we can have our own workers monitor and test robots. Believe me, it's totally OK. I've researched and found many such things abroad online, and using robots is increasingly popular. You sound so sure of yourself, I just can't imagine what will we have here? A quiet building with robots rolling around, completing the work . that's IT robots will surely come in handy. I ask others about the plan and their ideas. Thanks for your advice, mike. Catherine, I think we can have robots make medicine for us. Not even a single construction worker . can be seen. Yeah, it's november now. In fact, it's been vacant since february. There used to be several small shops. After the construction of several office buildings, the shops were pulled down. When will IT be a subway station line in five is under construction? It's hardly likely the sites of line five have already been decided. Well, I hope a mall can be built there so that we can get some food or coffee during our lunch break. Who knows? Jordan Chiles, a two-time Olympian and three-time World Championship medalist, has made history as part of the first all-Black group of gymnasts to medal at the 2022 U.S. Gymnastics Championships. Two years later, she repeated the accomplishment at the Paris Olympics, where she helped Team USA win gold and Chiles claimed bronze for her floor routine.
However, not all of Chiles’s history-making moments have been celebratory. Shortly after earning her individual Olympic medal, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) removed her from the bronze, arguing that an inquiry from her coach Cecile Landi challenging her routine’s difficulty rating that increased her score hadn’t been made within the one-minute deadline.
This controversial decision made Chiles heartbroken, and she shares the emotional journey in her memoir (回忆录), I’m That Girl: Living the Power of My Dreams. In her new memoir, she opens up about struggles few knew. As a gymnast with a more muscular body, she encountered self-image issues, worsened by harmful comments and unequal judging. She also reveals the emotional abuse she suffered from a former coach, referred to as “Coach X,” who criticized her body and caused her to develop an eating disorder.
Despite these challenges, Chiles found support in her family and friends, including fellow gymnast Simone Biles. Biles encouraged her to train at the World Champions Centre after Chiles left Coach X. Their bond strengthened further through shared experiences, especially after the abuse case involving Larry Nassar, though Chiles and Biles never openly discussed it.
Chiles’s journey also involved struggling with dark moments, including suicidal thoughts after a setback in her career. But through it all, she has found strength and healing. “Everything that happened shaped who I am today — a fighter still standing.” Now, she hopes her story helps others feel empowered to speak out about their struggles. Having moved on from the Olympic ruling, Chiles is focused on her future, balancing her college life at UCLA while keeping the door open for a potential return to the Olympics in 2028. “I’m just like you,” she writes. “Trying to strive for greatness.”
24.Why was Chiles’ bronze medal taken away after the Paris Olympics?
A.Her coach’s inquiry about her score was submitted too late.
B.She failed to meet the difficulty requirements of her routine.
C.She disobeyed competition rules regarding her performance.
D.She lifted difficulty levels without the permission of the CAS.
25.What was the little-known struggle Chiles shared in her memoir?
A.Withdrawal of the bronze. B.Physical and mental suffering.
C.Severe injuries during the training. D.The coach’s criticism for her irregular diet.
26.What does Chiles’s story mainly want to convey?
A.What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
B.Life journey is full of unavoidable hardship.
C.True strength grows where loved ones support.
D.Opportunities always favor the prepared minds.
27.What is the best title for this passage?
A.Jordan Chiles’s Memoir: A Guide to Olympic Success
B.The Dark Side of Competitive Sports: Abuse and Unfair Judging
C.The Rise of a Gymnastics Champion: Jordan Chiles’ Olympic Journey
D.Overcoming Adversity: Jordan Chiles’s Fight for Strength and Healing

Lightning strikes about 40 million times in the U.S. every year. This natural phenomenon is terrifyingly random, and we rely mainly on lightning rods (避雷针) — a nearly 300-year-old technology — to deal with it. But researchers are exploring a more 21st-century solution: laser beams (激光束). Pioneered by Benjamin Franklin, the lightning rod works well to defend a building. But it has limited ability to protect larger land or facilities such as wind farms, airports and rocket launch pads.
Regular lightning rods are made of conductive (传导的) metal; they provide a preferential point for the lightning to strike and then safely channel the charge around a building and into the ground.
In the new experiment, a high-powered laser effectively creates a towering, temporary and controllable lightning rod in the sky above the area to be protected. Scientists have dreamed of building laser lightning rods for decades, but previous experiments largely failed. Older lasers could pulse (脉冲) only around 10 times per second, too slow to keep an air column ionized (离子化), explains Aurélien Houard, a physicist at the École Polytechnique in France and lead author of the study. The laser used in the study can fire 1,000 times per second, with each pulse lasting one trillionth of a second.
“You can burn stone if you want with this laser,” Houard says. “but it only consumes about 10 kilowatts (千瓦): roughly the power required to operate a commercial oven or seven domestic space heaters”, adds Houard.
The researchers tested their laser’s lightning-drawing ability atop Säntis, a peak in the Swiss Alps chosen because lightning often hits a telecommunication tower on the top. There, during the summer of 2021, the team observed four lightning strikes while the laser was powered on. And in all four cases, sensors — either a high-speed camera or a high-frequency electromagnetic wave detector — captured the lightning following the beam’s path. The authors hope to fine-tune the technique with more data from future studies.
“The next step will be closer to the real-world applications,” Houard says, “basically redoing this experiment, say, close to a launch pad or close to an airport.” For now, though, Benjamin Franklin’s innovation will have to do.
28.What is the major shortcoming of Benjamin Franklin’s lightning rods?
A.They are too old to work.
B.They channel the charge into the ground.
C.They fail to protect larger land or facilities.
D.They are regularly made of conductive metal.
29.Why did past experiments on laser lightening rods largely fail?
A.Laser beams were uncontrollable.
B.Laser lightning rods were temporary.
C.Old lasers had too slow pulse rates.
D.Old lasers failed to last long to ionize air.
30.What can be inferred from paragraph 4?
A.The new solution is economical.
B.The laser beams are energy-consuming.
C.The laser beams can warm up the building.
D.The new solution is not environmentally friendly.
31.What is Houard’s attitude toward the future of laser lightning rods?
A.Tolerant. B.Dismissive. C.Doubtful. D.Optimistic.

It goes without saying that hard physical labor wears you out, but what about hard mental labor? “Influential theories suggested that fatigue (疲惫) is a sort of illusion cooked up by the brain to make us stop whatever we are doing and turn to a more gratifying activity,” says Mathias Pessiglione of Pitié-Salpêtrière University in Paris, France. “But our findings show that cognitive work results in a true functional transformation — accumulation of toxic substances — so fatigue would indeed be a signal that makes us stop working but for a different purpose: to preserve the integrity of brain functioning.”
Pessiglione and colleagues wanted to understand what mental fatigue really is. They used magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) to monitor brain chemistry over the course of a workday. They studied two groups of people: those who needed to think hard and those who had relatively simple cognitive tasks. They saw signs of fatigue, only in the group doing hard mental work. Those in that group also exhibited in their choices a change toward options proposing rewards at short delay with minimal effort. Critically, they also had higher levels of glutamate (谷氨酸) in the brain’s prefrontal cortex (前额皮质). Together with earlier evidence, the scientists say it supports the hypothesis that glutamate accumulation makes further activation of the prefrontal cortex more costly, such that cognitive control is more difficult after a mentally tough workday.
So, is there some way to overcome this limitation of our brain’s ability to think hard? “Not really, I’m afraid,” Pessiglione said. “I would employ good old recipes: rest and sleep! There is good evidence that glutamate is removed from the brain during sleep.” There may be other practical implications of the findings. For example, the researchers say, monitoring of prefrontal cortex could help to detect severe mental fatigue. Such an ability may help adjust work agendas to avoid burnout. Pessiglione also advises people to avoid making important decisions when they’re tired.
32.What does the underlined word “gratifying” in Paragraph 1 mean?
A.Relaxing. B.Complex. C.Temporary. D.Rewarding.
33.What does the group performing hard mental work exhibit in the study?
A.Fewer signs of mental fatigue. B.Greater motivation and effort.
C.Higher efficiency in complex tasks. D.Stronger preference for immediate rewards.
34.What do we know about glutamate accumulation?
A.It causes a sense of peaceful mind.
B.It enhances brain function in a limited way.

I frequently see online videos where a group of girls travel to a destination as friends but leave as enemies. It’s generally assumed that these friendship breakups result from different travel preferences or lack of conflict resolution skills. 36 Luckily, there are ways to minimize arguments and ensure your friendships survive your next group trip.
37 Regarding accommodations, for instance, you’d rather check into a Youth Hostel than a five-star hotel so that you can spend more on good meals. What need you prioritize should get across to your friends, in which case there’ll be no surprises when you’re trying to pick out an Airbnb or make dinner reservations.
Do your friends prefer a structured itinerary (行程) that starts at 7 a.m., or would they like to rise at their leisure and wing it for the day? Are they down to party until dawn, or do they want to call it a night by 10 p.m.? 38 The same goes for boundaries. Better to know what makes them uncomfortable beforehand than have to negotiate mid-trip.
Are you one who rigidly sticks to a travel itinerary and allows zero flexibility? 39 I find it helpful to have a loose itinerary shared before the trip. You can always revise your daily schedule, but some structure is key, or else you’re spending half your vacation researching.
Some people need a break to recharge or sleep and others may want to work out or read a book. 40 It’s everyone’s vacation, so everyone should get independent periods to use as they wish.
A.It pays to tour with friends.
B.I believe it’s a mixture of both.
C.Don’t forget to block out alone time.
D.Be frank about your budget and preferences.
E.If the answer is yes, you’ll have to make a change.
F.There is no point in complaining about external disturbance.
G.Setting schedule expectations helps you plan the trip effectively.

Mary and Lily had been friends since middle school. When Lily asked to stay at Mary’s new apartment for a week while hers was being repaired, Mary gladly agreed for she would go out for a week-long business trip. Mary always took good care of her apartment and couldn’t bear to see any damage to the apartment. Lily clearly knew that and promised to keep Mary’s apartment clean and tidy during her stay. Mary trusted Lily completely.
However, on the third day of Lily’s stay, something unexpected happened. That evening, Lily accidentally knocked over a mug (大杯) of coffee. The dark liquid spread across the white wall, leaving an ugly stain (污渍). Panicked, she tried to clean it with a piece of wet cloth, but the stain only spread. Fearing that Mary would be upset, Lily decided to fix it herself.
The next day, Lily bought paint and brushes from a nearby store, hoping to cover the mess perfectly. Unfortunately, Lily had no experience in painting. She applied too much of the new coat, causing the stained wall to dry unevenly and crack (裂开). Worse still, the color she chose didn’t quite match the original white. The damaged part looked obviously ugly.
On the morning of Mary’s return, Lily felt nervous, considering how to explain everything. Mary immediately noticed the damaged wall before Lily could speak. Mary’s heart sank as she stared at the ugly uneven wall surface.
“Lily, what happened here?” Mary asked, trying to stay calm.
Lily’s face turned pale. “I... I tried to fix it myself. I’m so sorry!” she said nervously. She then explained the accident and her failed attempt to repair it. “I was afraid that you’d be angry, so I kept it a secret. I never meant to make it worse,” Lily added.
There was a moment of silence. Mary felt annoyed. The wall was clearly runed, but Lily’s honesty and regret softened her anger.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
Taking a deep breath, Mary said, “We’ll figure this out together.”

M: I can understand his worry. He just cares about you too much. How about your mother?

【答案】17.C 18.B 19.C 20.A
Hello, everyone! Today my presentation will be focused on the latest development and application of AI. Nowadays, AI is making remarkable progress in various fields. For example, AI powered customer service system can answer customers questions and address their inquiries at any time, greatly improving customer satisfaction. In the field of security, AI based image recognition technology plays a crucial role.
It can quickly identify criminals from a large database of images. Once a suspect appears, the system can alert the security personnel immediately. However, when it comes to using AI for medical diagnosis, improving the reliability of AI made diagnosis remains a challenge.
Although AI can analyze large amounts of medical data, medical diagnosis is extremely complex and requires high accuracy. A wrong diagnosis may cost a life. Some people worry that AI will replace human workers in the future, but I think it will also create opportunities. For example, in factories AI controlled robots can improve production efficiency and in schools, AI based learning tools can provide personalized learning plans for students. The impact of AI continues to grow.
Thanks for listening.

Culinary tourism in New Brunswick has grown dramatically and deliciously in recent years, offering up a variety of new adventures for the foodie explorers. Here’s a sampling of what’s on the menu.
Old-growth Forest Tour
Take a medicine walk with Cecelia Brooks and her son, Anthony Brooks. They guide you through the forest, teaching the history of local medicinal plants and trees along the way. Afterwards, they prepare wild rice and corn pancakes with ingredients straight from Cecelia’s garden.
Kings Landing Tour
Wandering through the open-air museum’s historic buildings and chatting with interpreters dressed in period clothing about life in the Saint John River valley in the 19th century is an immersive cultural experience, but eating history is next level. Tasting a meal in the King Head Inn’s attractive dining room, where traditional pub food evokes (唤起) an immediate journey back in time.
Paddle (划桨) Tour
Second Nature Outdoors offers a sunrise paddle tour on the Saint John River that starts with a canoe (独木舟) out to Hartt Island, where guides teach how to roast coffee over a campfire. Drinking coffee and eating local cheese with river views is the perfect way to begin the day.
Ganong Chocolate Museum Tour
The museum tour includes everything from the early methods of chocolate making to the story behind the Ganong candy dynasty’s famous Pal-o-Mine bar. The highlight must go to the hands-on activity where you participate in the complicated process of hand-dipping chocolates and taste the fruit of your labor!
21.Which tour will most probably make you feel transported to the past?
A.Paddle Tour. B.Kings Landing Tour.
C.Old-growth Forest Tour. D.Ganong Chocolate Museum Tour.
22.What will travelers do during the Paddle Tour?

根据Kings Landing Tour的“Wandering through the open-air museum’s historic buildings and chatting with interpreters dressed in period clothing about life in the Saint John River valley in the 19th century is an immersive cultural experience, but eating history is next level. Tasting a meal in the King Head Inn’s attractive dining room, where traditional pub food evokes an immediate journey back in time.(漫步在露天博物馆的历史建筑中,与身着古装的讲解员聊天,讲述19世纪圣约翰河谷的生活,这是一种身临其境的文化体验,但品尝历史是另一种体验。
根据Paddle Tour的“Second Nature Outdoors offers a sunrise paddle tour on the Saint John River that starts with a canoe out to Hartt Island, where guides teach how to roast coffee over a campfire. Drinking coffee and eating local cheese with river views is the perfect way to begin the day.(Second Nature Outdoors提供圣约翰河上的日出桨游,从独木舟出发,前往Hartt Island,导游会教你如何在篝火上烤咖啡。喝咖啡,吃着当地的奶酪并欣赏河景是开始一天的完美方式。) ”可知,游客开始于圣约翰河上的日出划桨之旅,然后前往Hartt Island。在此过程中,导游会教游客如何在篝火上烘烤咖啡,喝咖啡和享用当地的奶酪,并且在河边欣赏景色,这显然是一段令人愉快的独木舟之旅。故选B。
23.细节理解题。根据Old-growth Forest Tour的“Afterwards, they prepare wild rice and corn pancakes with ingredients straight from Cecelia’s garden.(之后,他们用塞西莉亚菜园里的食材准备野生大米和玉米煎饼。)”可知,游客可以品尝用野米和玉米制作的煎饼;根据Kings Landing Tour的“Tasting a meal in the King Head Inn’s attractive dining room, where traditional pub food evokes an immediate journey back in time.(在King Head酒店迷人的餐厅品尝一顿饭,传统的酒吧食物唤起立即回到过去的旅程。)”可知,游客在King Head酒店餐厅中品尝传统的酒吧食物;根据Paddle Tour的“Drinking coffee and eating local cheese with river views is the perfect way to begin the day.(喝咖啡,吃着当地的奶酪,欣赏河景,是开始一天的完美方式。)”可知,游客可以喝咖啡和吃当地的奶酪;根据Ganong Chocolate Museum Tour的“The highlight must go to the hands-on activity where you participate in the complicated process of hand-dipping chocolates and taste the fruit of your labor!(最精彩的一定是动手活动,参与手工浸巧克力的复杂过程,品尝自己劳动的果实!)”
B
【答案】24.A 25.B 26.A 27.D
根据第二段中“Shortly after earning her individual Olympic medal, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) removed her from the bronze, arguing that an inquiry from her coach Cecile Landi challenging her routine’s difficulty rating that increased her score hadn’t been made within the one-minute deadline. (在获得个人奥运奖牌后不久,体育仲裁法庭(CAS)取消了她的铜牌成绩,理由是她的教练Cecile Landi对其动作难度评分的申诉未在一分钟截止时间内提交,而该申诉提高了她的得分。)”可知,巴黎奥运会后Chiles的铜牌被取消是因为她的教练关于她分数的申诉提交得太晚。故选A项。
根据第三段中“In her new memoir, she opens up about struggles few knew. As a gymnast with a more muscular body, she encountered self-image issues, worsened by harmful comments and unequal judging. She also reveals the emotional abuse she suffered from a former coach, referred to as “Coach X,” who criticized her body and caused her to develop an eating disorder. (在她的新回忆录中,她首次袒露了鲜为人知的挣扎。作为一名肌肉更发达的体操运动员,她长期饱受自我形象问题的困扰,而充满恶意的评论和不公正的评判更是雪上加霜。她还揭露了前教练“X教练”对她的情感虐待——对方不仅对她的身材百般挑剔,还导致她患上了饮食失调症。)”和最后一段中“Chiles’s journey also involved struggling with dark moments, including suicidal thoughts after a setback in her career. (在职业生涯遭遇挫折后,她甚至一度产生轻生念头,经历了人生至暗时刻。)”可知,Chiles在回忆录中分享的不为人知的挣扎是身体和心理上的痛苦。故选B项。
26.推理判断题。根据文章主要讲述Chiles如何克服奖牌被收、虐待、自杀念头这些困难,并变得更坚强的故事,以及最后一段中“But through it all, she has found strength and healing. “Everything that happened shaped who I am today — a fighter still standing.” (但历经磨难,她最终找到了力量与治愈。“所有经历塑造了今天的我——一个依然挺立的斗士。”)”可知,经历逆境淬炼的Chiles变得更为强大。由此可知,她的故事主要想传达“那些杀不死你的,终将使你更强大”。故选A项。
通读全文,尤其是最后一段中“But through it all, she has found strength and healing. “Everything that happened shaped who I am today — a fighter still standing.” (但历经磨难,她最终找到了力量与治愈。“所有经历塑造了今天的我——一个依然挺立的斗士。”)”可知,文章聚焦Chiles的挣扎和她的韧性,讲述了她在经历一系列低谷后,凭借坚韧和亲友支持走出阴影,并通过自传激励他人的故事。因此,D项“战胜逆境:Jordan Chiles的力量与治愈之路”最全面概括了Jordan Chile的故事,适合作为文章标题。故选D项。

【答案】28.C 29.C 30.A 31.D
根据文章第一段“Pioneered by Benjamin Franklin, the lightning rod works well to defend a building. But it has limited ability to protect larger land or facilities such as wind farms, airports and rocket launch pads.(由本杰明·富兰克林开创的避雷针在保护建筑物方面效果很好,但它在保护更大面积的土地或设施(如风力发电场、机场和火箭发射台)方面的能力有限)”可知,本杰明·富兰克林的避雷针的主要缺点是不能保护更大的土地或设施。故选C项。
根据文章第三段“Scientists have dreamed of building laser lightning rods for decades, but previous experiments largely failed. Older lasers could pulse only around 10 times per second, too slow to keep an air column ionized, explains Aurélien Houard, a physicist at the École Polytechnique in France and lead author of the study.(科学家们几十年来一直梦想着建造激光避雷针,但之前的实验大多失败了。法国巴黎综合理工学院的物理学家、该研究的主要作者奥雷利安·胡瓦德解释说,较老的激光器每秒只能脉冲约10次,太慢而无法持续使空气柱离子化)”可知,过去对激光避雷针的实验在很大程度上失败了使因为旧激光器的脉冲速率太慢。故选C项。
30.推理判断题。根据文章第四段““You can burn stone if you want with this laser,” Houard says. “but it only consumes about 10 kilowatts: roughly the power required to operate a commercial oven or seven domestic space heaters”, adds Houard.(胡瓦德说:“如果你想的话,你可以用这个激光烧石头。”但他补充说,“它只消耗大约10千瓦:大约相当于操作一台商用烤箱或七个家用取暖器所需的能量”)”可知,新的解决方案消耗的能量少,是相对经济的。故选A项。
根据文章最后一段““The next step will be closer to the real-world applications,” Houard says, “basically redoing this experiment, say, close to a launch pad or close to an airport.” For now, though, Benjamin Franklin’s innovation will have to do.(胡瓦德说:“下一步将是更接近实际应用,基本上是在发射台附近或机场附近重新进行这项实验。”不过,目前来说,本杰明·富兰克林的创新仍然是必需的)”可知,他对激光避雷技术的未来发展持乐观态度。故选D项。

C.It signals the brain is emptying its mental energy.
D.It decreases the cost of prefrontal cortex activation.
35.What is Pessiglione’s advice for those overwhelmed by mentally demanding tasks?
A.Remove them from the work agenda.
B.Reduce the complexity of all cognitive tasks.
C.Schedule strategic breaks to allow for recovery.
D.Apply technology to monitoring the brain activity.
【答案】32.A 33.D 34.C 35.C
根据画线词的上文“Influential theories suggested that fatigue (疲惫) is a sort of illusion cooked up by the brain to make us stop whatever we are doing and turn to (有影响力的理论认为,疲劳是大脑制造的一种错觉,让我们停止正在做的事情,转而去做)”可推知,疲劳状态下我们会转而去做更为轻松的事,从而缓解疲劳,画线词意思应该是“愉快的,轻松的”。A. 故选A项。
根据第二段中“They saw signs of fatigue, only in the group doing hard mental work. Those in that group also exhibited in their choices a change toward options proposing rewards at short delay with minimal effort. (他们看到了疲劳的迹象,只有在做艰苦脑力工作的那一组。这一组的人在他们的选择中也表现出了一种变化,即在最短的时间内以最小的努力获得奖励)”可知,在这项研究中,进行艰苦脑力劳动的那一组表现出更强烈的对即时奖励的偏好。故选D项。
34.推理判断题。根据第二段中“Together with earlier evidence, the scientists say it supports the hypothesis that glutamate accumulation makes further activation of the prefrontal cortex more costly, such that cognitive control is more difficult after a mentally tough workday. (结合之前的证据,科学家们说,这支持了一种假设,即谷氨酸的积累使进一步激活前额叶皮质的成本更高,因此在一个精神紧张的工作日后,认知控制更加困难)”可知,谷氨酸的积累会让认知控制更加困难,这意味着大脑的精神能量在耗尽。故选C项。
35.细节理解题。根据最后一段中“So, is there some way to overcome this limitation of our brain’s ability to think hard? “Not really, I’m afraid,” Pessiglione said. “I would employ good old recipes: rest and sleep! There is good evidence that glutamate is removed from the brain during sleep.”
36.上文“It’s generally assumed that these friendship breakups result from different travel preferences or lack of conflict resolution skills.(人们普遍认为,这些友谊的破裂是由于不同的旅行偏好或缺乏解决冲突的能力)”是描述对于旅行结束后友谊破裂人们普遍认为的原因,B项“我认为这是两者的结合”作者提出自己的看法,B项中“both”指代上文“different travel preferences”和“lack of conflict resolution skills”,故选B。
37.根据下文“Regarding accommodations, for instance, you’d rather check into a Youth Hostel than a five-star hotel so that you can spend more on good meals. What need you prioritize should get across to your friends(关于住宿,例如,你宁愿入住青年旅馆而不是五星级酒店,这样你可以花更多的钱在美食上。你优先考虑的需求应该告诉你的朋友)”可知,本段是说要和朋友说清楚预算和需求,D项“坦白你的预算和喜好”适合作为本段主旨句,故选D。
38.根据上文“Do your friends prefer a structured itinerary (行程) that starts at 7 a.m., or would they like to rise at their leisure and wing it for the day? Are they down to party until dawn, or do they want to call it a night by 10 p.m.?(你的朋友们是喜欢早上7点开始的有组织的行程,还是喜欢在空闲的时候起床,然后自由地度过一天?他们是准备派对到天亮,还是想在晚上10点前结束?)”可知,此处是讲设定行程的重要性,G项“设定行程预期可以帮助你有效地计划旅行”符合语境,故选G。
39.上文“Are you one who rigidly sticks to a travel itinerary and allows zero flexibility?(你是一个严格遵守旅行计划,不允许任何灵活性的人吗?)” 下文“I find it helpful to have a loose itinerary shared before the trip. You can always revise your daily schedule(我发现在旅行前有一个自由的行程安排是很有帮助的。你可以随时修改你的日程安排)”提到自由、灵活的行程安排,和上文“严格遵守计划、不允许任何灵活性”相反,故E项“如果答案是肯定的,你将不得不做出改变”符合语境,E项中的“answer”呼应上文问题,故选E。
40.根据下文“It’s everyone’s vacation, so everyone should get independent periods to use as they wish.(这是每个人的假期,所以每个人都应该有自己的假期)”可知,每个人都应该有属于自己的时间,C项“别忘了留出独处的时间”符合语境,故选C。

注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;

One possible version:
Taking a deep breath, Mary said, “We’ll figure this out together.” Mary and Lily headed to the same store to get the exact paint, researched DIY wall repairs online and started to work together. Lily apologized repeatedly while carefully scraping off the uneven paint layers. “I should have told you earlier,” she mumbled. Mary handed her a fresh roller and said, “Mistakes happen, but teamwork fixes them.” Gradually, the wall was transformed by their coordinated efforts. Laughter filled the apartment as they joked about becoming professional painters.
The next morning, the wall shone perfectly. Lily touched the brand-new wall slightly, feeling a sense of relief. She hugged Mary and whispered, “Thank you for forgiving me and giving me another chance to make up for my mistakes.” Mary smiled and felt fortunate that a clumsy accident didn’t hurt their friendship. Looking at the resorted wall, both of them realized the repaired wall symbolized trust rebuilt through honesty and cooperation. After all, perfect walls fade, but true bonds endure.

注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
Taking a deep breath, Mary said, “We’ll figure this out together.”
