Here are four wonderful tours you might like. A Grand Canyon Exploration The Grand Canyon in Arizona, USA, is an amazing creation of nature. This huge canyon is 446 km long and 1.6 km deep—so big it’s hard to imagine! Over millions of years, the Colorado River ran through colorful rock layers. You can hike by the river, learn about interesting geology (地 质 学 ), and enjoy really clear night skies to watch stars. The canyon’s huge size and beautiful colors make it a must-see natural wonder. B Victoria Falls Expedition Victoria Falls, between Zambia and Zimbabwe, is one of the world’s most wonderful waterfalls. It’s 1,700 meters wide. The tour here has cool experiences like riding boat on the Zambezi River, where you might see elephants and hippos. The bravest visitors can even swim in Devil’s Pool, a deep pool right at the edge of the loud falls! The powerful water, pretty rainbows, and wild animals make this place really special. C Amazon Rainforest Discovery The Amazon Rainforest is the biggest rainforest on Earth. It’s called the “Lungs (肺) of the Planet” because it makes 20% of the world’s oxygen. On this trip, you can travel along the Amazon River to see some wild animals, like parrots, pink dolphins, and maybe even a jaguar! You’ll also meet local people who’ve lived in the forest peacefully. With so many different kinds of plants and animals, the Amazon is like nature’s most interesting classroom. D Zhangjiajie National Park Adventure China’s Zhangjiajie National Park looks like it’s from a fantasy movie. There are over 3,000 tall stone pillars. They gave ideas to the floating mountains in Avatar! There are exciting things to do, like walking on the glass Skywalk, going bungee jumping, or taking the Bailong Elevator, the world’s tallest outdoor lift. Watching stars would be amazing too—the clearer the sky, the better! B Sarah often helped out at her dad’s restaurant, but today she felt different—she was given the job of serving customers. She was excited yet nervous, as she carefully carried a salad to Table 6. The moment she reached the table, her excitement went away. Kate, the most popular girl in her school, was sitting there, surrounded by her friends. Sarah’s mind raced back to the times when Kate had made fun of her. Fear and shyness overwhelmed (淹没) her. She quickly hid behind the front desk to avoid being seen. Sarah was a hard-working straight-A student, but among her wealthy classmates, she often felt like an outsider. She was worried that working in the restaurant would make them laugh at her more. When her dad found her hiding, she was at a loss for words. He could see she was upset and kindly told her to take a break. Back in the kitchen, Sarah felt terrible. She thought she had let her dad down. Just then, Mia, one of her classmates, entered the kitchen. To Sarah’s surprise, Mia gave her a big hug and said, “Hey, Sarah, who cares what Kate says? I don’t think there’s anything to be ashamed (羞愧) of being a waitress. Come on, let’s do the ‘crab dance’ together!” These kind words were like a ray of sunshine, giving her the strength to face the situation. Sarah took a deep breath and returned to the dining area. She walked up to Kate’s table with the menu. As expected, Kate started to make fun of her. But this time, Sarah didn’t let it get to her. When Kate laughed, “Wait, you work here?” Sarah answered with a smile, “Yeah, and I’m great at it.” Then, she and Mia started doing a silly “crab dance”. They waved their arms and legs in a funny way, and soon, everyone at the table was laughing, including Kate. As Sarah walked back to the kitchen, she realized she no longer felt embarrassed (尴尬的). It didn’t matter if Kate liked the restaurant or not. What mattered was that she did her job well and was true to herself. After that day, Sarah found freedom in being herself. Whether serving tables or taking tests, she did it all with confidence and pride. 第 7 页 共 12 页 34. Why did Sarah hide behind the front desk when she saw Kate? A. She felt too excited to talk to Kate. B. She wanted to avoid talking to her dad. C. She didn’t know how to serve customers. D. She was afraid that Kate would laugh at her. 35. What did Mia do when she saw Sarah in the kitchen? A. She thought Sarah had let her dad down. B. She gave Sarah a hug and encouraged her. C. She asked Sarah to help her with homework. D. She did the “crab dance” with Sarah together. 36. What can we learn from this story? A. Being popular means nothing in life. B. Hard work matters more than grades. C. It is important to stay true to oneself. D. Pride is necessary in serving customers. C ○1 In conversations, we often sense that the other person isn’t truly focused. According to the University of Missouri, 45% of communication is about listening, but most people remember only 25% to 50% of the information they hear. Whether you’re in a classroom, a business setting, or a relationship, missing 75% what’s said to you is sure to lead to big problems. Active listening helps solve them. ○2 Active listening means more than hearing the words. Instead, you think about what you hear, and try to find the purpose and emotion from the speaker. Active listening requires paying attention. If you’re watching TV or looking at your phone while someone is talking, you’re not actively listening. The other side of active listening is making sure the other person knows that you’re doing so. Signs like eye contact and replying with wise ideas are important. ○3 As verbal (言语的) communication is very important in every part of life, active listening can help you communicate better, reduce misunderstandings, and build more successful relationships. Imagine your mom talks about family rules while you are checking TikTok. Mom keeps saying “Look at me” because you are checking your phone. You think “Here comes the boring lecture again” and ignore your mom’s anxious voice. This creates a perfect storm where both parties end up arguing with each other. But if you can close the app, sit next to mom and look into her eyes, magic will happen. Mom will stop repeating rules, her shoulders will relax, and you will quickly move to the next topic to discuss what to eat for dinner. 第 8 页 共 12 页 ○4 In fact, active listening takes practice. The first and foremost thing is to pay attention. Put away the distractions and make eye contact with the person talking to you. Make notes in mind about the speaker’s main points. Why are they telling you this? How does the speaker feel about what they’re saying? Don’t think about answering immediately. ○5 Also, showing that you’re listening is necessary. The speaker can tell if you’re paying attention. Nod when you need to and give small comments like “yes” and “huh”. But don’t repeat something they’ve just said. This might seem like a good way to show you’re listening, but actually it can derail the conversation. The speaker may feel upset, as repeating interrupts (打断) their train of thoughts and drives the conversation away from the topic. ○6 When the moment is right, offer thoughtful feedback (反馈 ). This doesn’t mean just answering, but showing you understand. You can do this by reflecting on what the speaker just says and asking follow-up questions. Good feedback helps make the conversation more interesting and shows that you are truly engaged. 37. According to the passage, which one is active listening? A. Asking some questions before listening. B. Guessing what others will say before listening. C. Thinking about what you hear when listening. D. Remembering 50% of the information you hear. 38. In Paragraph 3, why does the author mention the example of you and your mom? A. To discuss eye contact is useful to reduce conflicts. B. To prove verbal communication is important in relations. C. To show ignoring others’ words may lead to an argument. D. To explain active listening can improve communication. 39. What does “derail” probably mean? A. Put new things into the conversation. B. Put an end to the conversation. C. Make the conversation boring. D. Make the conversation lose focus. 40. What is the structure of the passage? 第 9 页 共 12 页 D Have you ever bought a new pair of shoes and started noticing the exact color and style of shoes everywhere? Is that type of shoes just becoming popular in your school? Were they there before? Or are you just going crazy? You’re not going crazy. The reason you are now noticing them is what psychologists call “priming”. Actually, the shoes were always there. You just didn’t recognize them consciously (有意 识地). However, when that certain type of shoes becomes part of your life, you start recognizing all of the other shoes that are the same, because you are already “primed” to do so. Priming can happen in different ways. In one study, researchers made students walk around a room for 5 minutes at a slower pace than usual. After this short experience, the students were quicker to recognize words related to old age, such as “forgetful”, “old”, and “lonely”. The priming effects tend to produce a coherent (连贯的) reaction: if you think about old age, you may start to act older, and acting older can strengthen those thoughts. This research shows us that our thoughts can influence our actions, and then our actions can influence our thoughts in a continuous cycle. American psychologist William James reached similar conclusion a century ago, but he emphasized the priming effect on feeling. “Actions seem to follow feelings, but actually actions and feelings go together. And by managing the actions, we can manage the feelings.” To put it simply, if we want to feel cheerful, we can start by sitting up happily and to act and speak as if you were already happy. So, that’s it. If you want to be happy, just sit up and act happy. Based on these scientific findings, we can take certain priming effects to make ourselves feel happier each day. One thing we have in common is our ability to think and feel. Thinking about the good things in our lives can produce the chemicals that make us feel happy. Especially when we take the time to think about what we’re grateful (感激的) for—like friends, family, or even small joys like a sunny day—we fill our minds with these “happy chemicals”. Furthermore, by consciously thinking, feeling and expressing gratitude, we will not only be happier in the moment, but we will be “primed” to recognize the good things in our life. Each time this happens, the “happy chemicals” will be produced. More than that, combining thoughts of gratitude with happy acts like smiling and laughing will add extra positive effect on our state of mind. Therefore, by being aware of the power of our thoughts and actions, we can cultivate a happier, more fulfilling life. 第 10 页 共 12 页 41. When you go through “priming”, you _____. A. notice the things of the same color and style B. start recognizing things you didn’t notice before C. have an interest in fashion and buy popular things D. begin to follow other people’s actions and thoughts 42. What will the author probably agree with? A. Acting old can make people feel young in their mind. B. We can manage our thoughts by managing our feelings. C. Happy chemicals make us think of the good things in life. D. Practicing gratitude helps us to recognize positive things. 43. Which of the following would be the best title for the passage? A. Prime Yourself to Be Happier B. Actions Are Primed by Feelings C. Gratitude Is Important for Happiness D. Learn Priming to Understand Feelings 第四部分 书面表达(共 31分) 七、阅读表达。(共 10分,第 44-46题每小题 2分,第 47小题 4分) 阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。 When searching for “AI homework” on Xiaohongshu, you’ll see many posts from students and teachers discussing the advantages and disadvantages of asking AI to do homework. So, is AI a helpful homework tool or just an excuse for students to be lazy? On the one hand, AI has proven to be a powerful tool for improving learning efficiency. Zhang Yue, a grade 10 student from Beijing, shared with China Youth Daily that more than half of his classmates use AI for homework. AI can act as a personal teacher and help students finish their homework faster by offering quick guidance. However, using too much AI can have negative effects. Li Lin, a grade 9 student from Henan, found that AI harmed her ability to think independently. In an interview with Henan Daily, she said that after using AI for a short time, she noticed her Chinese grades dropped. “My articles written by AI lacked self-reflection (自我反思).” This shows that although AI can complete homework, it does not teach students how to think deeply, which is important for meaningful learning. What’s more, the quality of Chinese and English articles written by AI can be quite poor. According to Ms. Peng, a middle school English teacher, the problem with AI-produced work is that it may be wrong or simply lacks a deep meaning. 第 11 页 共 12 页 But some students take advantage of AI in a smarter way. Jiang Wei uses AI for creative writing in English class. “I already have in mind what I want to write, and then use AI to help me write more smoothly (流畅地 ) and naturally”. Jiang sees AI as a library because it offers resources without replacing her own ideas. In conclusion, the role of AI in education is up to you. When used effectively, AI can be beneficial for both teaching and learning. “Embracing new technology is preparing ourselves for the future,” Peng said. “But schools and teachers must guide students to use AI correctly as a learning tool.” While it offers efficiency and support, it should not replace one’s independent thinking and creativity. The key is to use it wisely, so students can build both technological skills and thinking abilities. 44. How can AI help students finish their homework faster? 45. What is the problem with AI-produced work according to Ms. Peng? 46. Why does Jiang Wei see AI as a library? 47. Peter’s grades dropped after using AI for his homework.
