B I'm a huge music fan. Jazz is one of my favorite music genres and Keith Jarrett is one of the most influential piano players of the last 50 years. I love live jazz, because it's one of the few musical genres where you can hear talented artists stretch past the point of their own expectations. A story I heard the other day about Keith Jarrett's legendary album, The Köln Concert-tells when he was on tour back in Europe and went to play a sold-out concert. He showed up at the concert to find that the young concert promoter had rented a small, out-of-tune piano that had sticky keys and pedals that didn't work. Keith refused to play a concert initially and only after hours of convincing did he agree to perform on the piano. Keith would later describe the Köln concert as one of the most challenging performances of his career. All of these adversities (逆境)and frustrations helped Keith create music that no one had ever heard before, not even himself. Reflecting back on this concert, Keith typically says that the amazing quality of the music came from not having the core elements of his preparation. But he also talks about the fact that being out of his element and facing challenges that he had never seen before forced him to recognize the potential of the situation and trust in himself. That unique dilemmatic crossroads created the Köln concert. We rarely unlock our true potential unless we are challenged with some obstacles or are forced to overcome what seems impossible. The legendary Köln concert is the result of a unique learning process that showed Keith the value of his unlocked potential. My hope is that everyone can realize their potential and be the next pearl. 24. Why is the author fond of live jazz? A. lt is the best music genre. B. It has a major influence on him. C. lt allows artists to exceed their expectations. D.It makes the author meet talented artists. 25.What challenge did Keith Jarrett have at the Köln concert? A. He was in poor condition. B. The piano was of poor quality. C.The concert promoter refused to work. D. He forgot to rent a piano that day. 26.How did Keith Jarrett view the Köln concert? A. It was the most challenging in his career. B. It made him realize his shortcomings. C. It reminded him to prepare better pianos. D. It inspired him to discover his potential. 27.Which can be a suitable title for the text? A. Failure is the mother of success. B. Genius is nothing but diligence. C.A little leak will sink a great ship. D. Frustration reveals one's potential. C Health is not just about exercise and eating more fruits and vegetables. Keeping proper posture is vital for living a healthy life and avoiding negative health problems. Good posture doesn’t mean your back must be completely straight — no matter how many times you heard warnings to “sit up straight” or “stand straight” in your youth. Actually, the spine has a natural curve (弯曲). This allows the head to be centred over the neck and the body to be centred over the hips, which is their ideal placement for maintaining good posture. Keeping proper posture provides plenty of physical benefits including reducing the chance of getting sports injuries, digestive problems, muscle and stress injuries. It minimizes the amount of stress on all your muscles. Correct posture can improve breathing as well. The inefficient breathing patterns are associated with a slouched (懒散的) posture, in part because such a position forces the body to rely more on upper-chest breathing. By contrast, the belly (腹部) breathing is more efficient and relaxing. This is important because many of the worst health problems of poor posture can take years before they become noticeable. Along with such physical advantages, proper posture can also improve your mental health and your life. “A person with neutral head-level posture is considered as more cooperative than someone who has their head in an up-or-down position,” says Laura Deon, a physical medicine specialist at RUSH University in Chicago. “Good posture can improve communication skills and make your everyday exchanges go smoothly,” she explains. To experience benefits related to proper posture, it is recommended to pay attention to how you sit and stand and to practise doing so correctly and often enough until it feels natural. Besides, wearing proper footwear, doing exercise and sitting on chairs that offer back support could be helpful too. No matter which of these techniques you follow, good posture can be trained with practice. 28.What do we know about our back? A.It keeps still all the time. B.It has a natural curve. C.It looks quite bent from the side. D.It needs to be totally straight. 29.Which of the following is NOT a benefit from proper posture? A.Strengthen one's memory. B.Improve mental health. C.Reduce digestive problems. D.Relieve muscle injuries. 30.According to Laura Deon, how can good posture affect social interactions? A.It makes you less focused. B.It makes you look taller. C.It makes you seem more cooperative. D.It makes you seem humorous. 31.What does the author suggest readers do to keep proper posture? A.Choose soft chairs to sit. B.Wear hard sneakers. C.Sit on chairs all day. D.Keep posture natural with practice. D A new attempt to predict earthquakes with the aid of artificial intelligence (AI) has raised hopes that the technology could one day be used to limit earthquakes’ impact on lives and economies. Developed by researchers at The University of Texas at Austin, the AI algorithm correctly predicted 70% of earthquakes a week before they happened during a seven-month trial in China. The AI was trained to find unusual patterns in real-time seismic data that researchers had paired with the data of previous earthquakes. The outcome was a weekly forecast in which the AI successfully predicted 14 earthquakes within about 200 miles of where it estimated they would happen and at almost exactly the calculated strength. It missed one earthquake and gave eight false warnings. It’s not yet known if the same approach will work at other locations, but the effort is a significant achievement in research for AI-driven earthquake forecasting. “Predicting earthquakes is the ultimate goal,” said a professor, who is a member of the research team. “We’re not yet close to making predictions for anywhere in the world, but what we achieved tells us that what we thought was an impossible problem is solvable in principle.” The researchers said that their method had succeeded by following a relatively simple machine learning approach. The AI was given a set of statistical features based on the team’s knowledge of earthquake physics, then told to train itself on a five-year database of seismic recordings. Once trained, the AI gave its forecast by listening for signs of incoming earthquakes among the background rumblings in the Earth. “Our future goal is to combine both physics and data-driven methods to create a generalized system that we can apply anywhere in the world,” said the AI’s lead developer. “The new research is an important step towards achieving that goal.” 32.What do we say about AI predicting earthquakes? A.The rate of accuracy is high. B.It has got proven worldwide. C.The prediction is completely random. D.Earthquakes can be controlled by scientists. 33.Which can best explain the underlined word “seismic” in paragraph 2? A.Related to weather patterns. B.Related to earthquakes. C.Related to volcanic activities. D.Related to ocean currents. 34.What is researchers’ attitude towards AI predicting earthquakes? A.Doubtful. B.Uncertain. C.Optimistic. D.Unfavorable. 35.What is the best title for the text? A.The Development Of Earthquake B.AI’s Role in Predicting Earthquakes C.AI’s Forecast about Natural Disasters D.The Understanding of Earthquake Physics 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Have a Positive Attitude Many times, we’re not aware of the advantages of having a positive attitude all the time. She also helped me develop many good hobbies. In my childhood, reading books was one of my favorite hobbies. Especially during holidays, I often went to the library to borrow books. One Saturday morning after breakfast, I told my mother that I’d go and borrow one or two books in the local public library. Then, I set out, expecting what wonderful books I’d come across. After cycling there, I was amazed to notice a new children’s book that I had expected for long. The book was from abroad and was beautifully designed. Eager to go through it, I quickly took the book out of the shelf and hurried to a chair nearby. Once seated, I opened the book and turned pages. Suddenly, a terrible thing happened. Because of my finger’s too much force, one page was torn (撕破) by accident, which produced a clear sound. It made me immediately shocked and anxious. “If the librarians find I have made the book damaged, they may ask me to buy a new one, which can be expensive. And they may angrily blame me for my carelessness,” I thought. Soon, my face turned pale and my heart pounded fast. Just then, I noticed a librarian was walking in the direction of me. “Is she coming for me?” I wondered, with my legs shaking with fear. Afraid she’d notice the broken page, I hurried to close the book. Finding something wrong with me, the librarian was concerned and asked gently, “Do you feel uncomfortable?” I shook my head, replying, “No, I’m fine. Thank you!” The librarian smiled and then left. When she was out of my sight, I quickly stood up and put the book back. I had no intention of reading other books, so I left the library in a hurry, without borrowing any book. Once reaching home, I breathed a sigh of relief. However, my mother, who was doing housework, stopped. Paragraph 1: She came to check what books I borrowed. ________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Then, I carried glue and headed towards the library. ________________________________________________________________________________ 高二下期期中考试英语参考答案 第一部分 听力 1~5 CCBAB 6~10 BACBC 11~15 ABACB 16~20 AABCA 第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分 50 分) 第一节 (共 15 小题,每小题 2.5 分,满分 37.5 分) 21—35 ABDCB DDBAC DABCB 第二节(共 5 小题,每小题 2.5 分,满分 12.5 分) 36—40 BCFGE 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分 30 分) 第一节 (共 15 小题,每小题 1 分,满分 15 分) 41—45 CBDCB 46—50 ABCDA 51—55 DBADB 第二节 (共 10 小题,每小题 1.5 分,满分 15 分) 56.have gained 57. an 58. mainly 59. which 60. shortened 61. manufacturers 62. making 63. of 64 are expected 65. cleaner 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
