During my childhood days in the countryside, I tried a number of outdoor activities, mostly with my friends in my neighborhood. Of course, it is not that I enjoyed all of those outdoor activities, whether I was doing them for the first time or continuously. However, today, I would like to talk about an outdoor activity which I started to like from the very first time. The name of this activity is “fishing”. But, to be honest, about ten years ago, I thought fishing took too much time and maybe it was all fruitless in the end without any excitement. I didn’t really like the idea of sitting on the bank of a lake or river under burning sunlight, expecting some fish to be kind enough to take my bait (鱼饵). In fact, I used to think of this outdoor activity as some kind of hide-and-seek-game except it was much harder than that because I could see my “prey” (猎物) more clearly only after catching it. However, all that changed one day. One of my cousins, who was senior to me by eight years, finally convinced me to accompany him in order to do some fishing practice with him. Having fears for my safety, my mother would not let me go fishing with my cousin at first. However, after my cousin repeatedly promised her that we would only practice fishing in the shallow water area, she no longer insisted. In fact, to arouse my interest in fishing with him, my cousin even assured me that the fishes would eat my bait very quickly. So we happily headed for a small river east of our village to catch some fish. By the river, before throwing my fishing wire into the water, my cousin opened a small plastic bag and did some tricks by attaching some special bait on my fishing rod (杆). Then we started to wait, sitting quietly on the bank. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ After that experience, I always recommend fishing to my friends. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ (二) 【2023-2024学年安徽省安庆市等三市高二下学期7月期末】I grew up knowing I was different, and I hated it. I was born with a cleft palate (腭裂), and when I started to go to school, my classmates, who were constantly teasing me, made it clear to me how I looked to others: a little girl with a misshapen lip. I couldn't even blow up a balloon without holding my nose. When schoolmates asked, “What happened to your lip? ”, I would tell them that I'd fallen as a baby and cut it on a piece of glass. Somehow it seemed more acceptable to have suffered an accident than to have been born different. By the age of seven I was convinced that no one outside my own family could ever like me. And then I entered the second grade, and Mrs. Leonard's class. She was pretty and fragrant, with shining brown hair and warm, dark eyes that smiled even on the rare occasions when her mouth didn't. Everyone adored her. But no one came to love her more than I did for a special reason. The time came for the annual hearing tests” iven at our school. I was barely able to hear anything out of one ear, and was not about to reveal yet another problem that would single me out as different. So I cheated. I had learned to watch the other children and raise my hand when they did during group testing. The whisper test”, however, required a different trick. Each child would go to the door of the classroom and close one ear with a finger. Then the teacher would whisper something which the child would repeat. The same thing was done for the other ear. I had discovered that nobody checked to see how tightly the untested ear was being covered, so I merely pretended to block mine. As usual, I was the last, and all through the testing I wondered what Mrs. Leonard might say to me. My turn came. I turned my bad ear to her, plugging up the other with my finger, and then gently backed my finger out enough to be able to hear. I waited, and then came the words that changed my life forever. Mrs. Leonard, the pretty, fragrant teacher I adored, said softy, “I wish you were my little girl. ” ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ From that day on, I had a newfound confidence. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ (三) 【2023-2024学年安徽省亳州市高二下学期7月期末】Ever since 7-year-old Bryan had fixed a cupboard from Ikea with his father, he developed a love for building. Throughout the years in school, he helped his friends whenever they needed help building something. One day, his teacher recommended an after-school workshop for him to develop his talent. He skipped home, smiling from ear to ear. “Mom! Dad! My DNT teacher suggested I should go for this after-school workshop! Can I go? Please? This would really help me in my future career!” Bryan said. Father asked, “How will this help you in becoming a scientist? It is also too near the time of your exams.” Bryan shook his head and his eyes glowed. “I want to be an engineer.” Mother said, “Really? I thought that you would like to be a scientist. What made you change your mind?” “Well, I may really like science but, over the years, I discovered a passion for building!” “We see. But we do not support your idea. Sorry, Bryan but you are smart enough to be a scientist and I don’t want you wasting those precious years away on something like building. Moreover, you will definitely earn more money as a scientist! Remember how you said you wanted to pay us back? Be successful! Like us!” Father responded. Mother nodded. The next day, Bryan told his teacher sadly, “Mr. Hock, I am not able to attend the workshop.” He could sense the disappointment in Mr. Hock, his DNT teacher’s eyes. At this moment, Bryan’s heart sank. A signed consent form (同意书) would have changed his whole life. For the next few years, he continued studying science. Bryan had many friends who were in the same course as him, but no one asked about his career. One fine day in the cafeteria, he bumped into Axel, who was going to change his perspective of a career forever. They introduced themselves, and the courses they took. Turns out, Axel studied engineering. “What about you? You look like a math person.” he commented. “Actually, I take science.” Bryan replied, shyly. “Really? With only one week and one assignment to go before the summer holiday, Truman knew that to secure the top spot, his final report had to shine. The topic was beehives (蜂巢), a subject that Mrs. Lawrence, his teacher, had emphasized the need for a unique perspective to earn an A+. Truman opened the door to find his four-year-old brother, Bryan, who sat on the floor in the living room with paper tubes all over the floor. Bryan called, “Truman, help me build a city!” With a sigh, Truman replied, “I’m sorry, Bryan, but I have to write a report about beehives.” Stepping carefully between the scattered tubes, he went into his room, deep in thought about his project. Shortly after, Bryan appeared at the door, his eyes sparkling (发亮).“Truman, I know where there’s a beehive,” he said. Truman followed Bryan to the garage where they found a real beehive hidden among the firewood. Bending down, he removed the beehive from the wood. As Truman examined it closely, he was fascinated by the hexagonal (六边形的) structure of each cell. “Why the hexagon?” he thought. After dinner, Truman did the dishes. He glanced at the clock. If he didn’t think of something soon, his chance to get an A+ would be slim. As Truman turned around, he stepped on something. He hadn’t seen Bryan play with paper tubes behind him. “Get your tubes out of here, Bryan!” Truman said angrily. Bryan ran into the living room, crying. Truman sighed and gathered the paper tubes. Suddenly, he found that they were arranged with one in the middle and surrounded by six others. They reminded Truman of the beehive. The center tube formed a hexagon, just like the cells of the hive. Truman tried to use different numbers of tubes to surround the center tube, and then Truman got the new angle. But what else did he need to accompany his report? Maybe a model beehive! Thinking about this, Truman rushed into the living room, his heart pounding. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Bryan smiled and began picking out his tubes. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ (六) 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写一段话,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Holidays are not necessarily for fun or rest. Doing something meaningful can also gain special pleasure. When the final bell rang, the students were reminded that there was no school on Monday—the Labor Day. “Enjoy your extra day off” said the teacher to her class. An extra day off unsuited Kayla just fine. She loved breaks. She wanted to go out to play with her friends. When the school bus dropped Kayla off, she ran into the house happily. “How was school, Kayla?” asked her mom. “It was great, Mom. I am excited about no school on Monday.” “You just started back to school two weeks ago. Already in need of a break, huh?” asked Kayla’s mom with a laugh. Kayla slept in the next morning. Saturday was her favorite day of the week. I trained most of the day, so Kayla enjoyed playing videogames inside. On Sunday, her friends came over and they played basketball for several hours. Then it was Labor Day, you know, the extra day off that Kayla was so looking forward to. But Kayla was awakened early that morning by her dad. He told Kayla that in honor of Labor Day, the family would be cleaning both inside and outside the house. Kayla couldn’t believe it. This was a holiday. A day when she was supposed to be enjoying freshly squeezed lemonade while playing in her tree house. As Kayla wiped here yes, she began to wonder if this was just a bad dream. “Kayla, your breakfast is ready. We have a lot of work to do today. Let’s get a move on,” said Kayla’s mom. As she sat down at the kitchen table, Kayla asked her parents, “Are you serious about working today? Isn’t Labor Day a holiday?” “Yes, Kayla. First, I complained about not being able to make new friends and not knowing anything about New York. My mom said, “You’ll make new friends, and it’s not like you know anything about Baton Rouge anyway. I protested, “But I don’t want to leave Louisiana. The weather is perfect here!” My mom shot me a disapproving look and said, “You’ll get used to the weather in New York.” I remember thinking about running away and joining a circus somewhere, but then I remembered that circus animals smell really bad, and I would miss my parents. So I wandered around the house pick picking up random things, like my baseball and glove, and throwing them into a cardboard box. I felt like a big, heavy rain cloud I was hanging over my head. Within three days, all the furniture we were taking e taking with us was packed into a moving van (小型货车). Oder things were ready to be sold for nowhere near what we paid for them. Little by little our yard sale decreased until no one even looked at the well-worn coffee table, chewed-up plastic toys, and slightly damaged coffee cups—all of which I had my teeth on at one time or another The next day was Monday, and we got up early to beat the traffic. I’ll spare you the details of how boring it was to sit in a van and watch each tree as it passed by only to see another tree getting closer until it a so passed by. Halfway there, we stopped at a motel (汽车旅馆) to spend the night. This time, no one could sleep because of the smell coming from the heater in the room. That afternoon, the hot sun was shining brightly, making the tree leaves almost burn and making people’s bodies seem to be on fire. Having nothing interesting to do at home, I decided to go to the pool to enjoy the coolness instead of going swimming. The reason was simple — I still couldn’t swim. I was impatient, and I always failed to do something and suffered losses. So the swimming lesson was put off again and again. Upon arriving at the gym’s pool, I was greeted by a lively scene. Some people just jumped into the water, with hands entering first and the body following in a smooth motion. Some were kicking their legs rhythmically below the surface. All were happy. That was infectious, and I couldn’t help but feel deep admiration. Then I made a decision! Taking a deep breath, I followed their example, closing my eyes and jumping into the “vast water” with a plop (扑通声). At this moment, my head was pointing to the ground and my feet to the sky. When I “plopped” to the bottom, my whole body was swinging hard and my hands and feet lost their ability to feel. I just felt water rushing towards me, and my nose was filled with water. It was very terrible. Suddenly, I was hit by something. I struggled out of the light blue water bit by bit as if being dragged. “That’s horrible!” I shouted 1oudly, and while I was complaining, I suddenly realized that I couldn’t swim in the first place, so why should I be shocked? Just when I decided to stay away from water, someone gently patted my shoulder and said, “Don’t be discouraged, little girl. Look, swimming requires...” The lady introduced herself as Allison. She gave me a “1ecture” on how to hold my breath, how to kick gently, and how to start with floating with the help of a swimming ring, being patient while giving me a demonstration. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150个左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 “Why not try one more time?” said Allison. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As the day drew to a close, I still could not swim very well. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ (九) 【2023-2024学年安徽省马鞍山市高二下学期期末】On my first day in senior high school, my heart was racing and my legs were shaking. I was excited and nervous at the same time. Though I was happy to have the opportunity to see my friends after a long summer break, I could not help but think about what classes I was going to attend. As I reached the classroom doors, my heart raced faster and I had butterflies in my stomach. Seeing the letters reading “Welcome Freshmen” on the door, I took a deep breath as though I was going to perform in front of people. I opened the door, thinking that the class would be quiet, but it was filled with freshmen who were chatting with each other. I sat at the first empty desk I saw. The teacher was not there, so I began to chat with others, too. Minutes later, our teacher entered. She was short in height and had black, silky hair. The frown (皱眉) on her face gave me an impression that she had a strong character but after her short introduction, I believed she was a very nice woman. Her name was Mrs. Hutchinson. Are you coming?” a voice called from downstairs. “Yes,” Helen replied, quickly putting on her slightly tight dress. “Where are we going, Dad?” she asked, surprised by this rare opportunity to spend time with her father. He had been working tirelessly to support the family. “We’re off to collect the rent,” he responded. “Oh,” she understood. The rent was their lifeline during the Great Depression (经济大萧条), and going without it was unthinkable. Their first stop was at the home of Mrs. Miller, who quickly handed them the rent in dollar bills. But the second tenant (租客) Mr. Schmidt was still searching his home for coins when they arrived. Apologizing, he gave them a bag full of coins. The third tenants, the Katzes, worried Helen and her father. Their financial struggles had worsened, even though Helen’s father had reduced their rent. He said it was important to be especially considerate to this family because Mr. Katz had served in the army and deserved their gratitude. Mrs. Katz greeted them at the door, her eyes red from crying. Despite their financial difficulties, the inside of the apartment was always immaculately clean Mr. Katz and the two children were sitting at the table, waiting for them. The family all had such gaunt (枯瘦的) faces. Helen was embarrassed, suddenly, by her own good health. It felt like a mark of her guilt when she saw the little girl’s narrow, sad face and the boy’s large eyes. Mr. Katz gave Helen’s father the money he was holding, and her father thanked him. Just as they were about to leave, Mrs. Katz’s trembling voice stopped them. She said, “Mr. Resnick, we haven’t eaten in two days.” Helen couldn’t imagine such a thing. Her stomach ached just to think of it. They returned to the table, and Helen’s father silently placed the Katzes’ rent money back on it and counted out two dollars in coins. “Helen,” he said, “I want you to go to the grocer’s with this money, buy food, and bring it back here.” Helen nodded, took the money, and rushed off to the grocer’s. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Everyone’s eyes turned to Helen as she entered Mr. Katz’s house. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ (十一) 【2023-2024学年安徽省芜湖市高二下学期期末】In Rome there was once a poor slave whose name was Androclus. His master was a cruel man, and so unkind to him that Androclus ran away. He hid himself in a wild wood for many days; but there was no food to be found, and he grew so weak and sick that he thought he would die. So one day he climbed into a cave and lay down to wait for death, and soon he was fast asleep. After a while, a great noise woke him up. A lion had come into the cave, and was roaring loudly. Androclus was very afraid, for he felt sure that the beast would kill him. Soon, however, he saw the lion was not angry, but that his foot were hurt. Then Androclus grew so courageous that he started to examine the lion’s paw to see what was the matter. The lion stood quite still, and rubbed his head against the man’s shoulder. He seemed to say, “I know that you will help me.” Androclus lifted the paw from the ground, and saw that it was a long, sharp thorn that hurt the lion so much. He took the end of the thorn between his fingers; then he gave a strong, quick pull, and out it came. The lion was full of joy. He jumped about like a dog, and licked the hands and feet of his new friend. The two became such good friends that Androclus found his new life a very happy one. One day some soldiers found Androclus in the cave and took him back to Rome. It was the law at that time that every slave who ran away from his master should fight a hungry lion. She is a young mother. By seven, she has already eaten breakfast, had a cup of coffee, washed the dishes, taken her shower, and put on her make-up. Then, it’s time to do the housework. One early Saturday morning, when she was washing her son’s vacuum bottle (保温瓶), she felt upset. After having been used for long, the bottle was in poor condition. It was high time that she should buy a new one for her kid Bill, but her budget was limited. She had to decide that she would buy a new one sometime later. Complaining wasn’t how she would normally choose to start the day, especially with the sun shining. To cheer up and continue the day a bit more optimistically, she left the housework for later and set out with her little kid Bill for their morning walk on the beach a little earlier than usual. The local shops hadn’t opened yet. It was quiet outside; there were few people around. Walking through the downtown area, something on the pavement caught her attention. From a distance, it appeared to be a package of some sort. They walked over and Nancy picked it up. Upon examination, it turned out to be a brown paper bag. The downtown had nine blocks with stores. Grocery stores, furniture shops, cake shops, banks, bookstores, home-goods stores, clothing shops, and other businesses lined the street. Looking around, Nancy found none of them had been open for business. It was too early. Nancy knew all this indicated that the object had most likely been purchased by someone the evening or day before. Since it was near the road, Nancy guessed someone must have dropped it, probably while loading other bags into a car. Nancy looked inside the bag for more information. After opening it, she found there was a small handbag. Inside the bag there were many cards. Among them there was the owner’s business card, which showed the owner’s name and phone number. Besides, there was a box in the brown bag. “What may be in the box?” Nancy thought to herself. She checked it, surprised to find there was a new vacuum bottle for kids in it. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Based on the information on the business card, Nancy made up her mind to call the owner. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!2 / 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 专题09 读后续写 (一) 【2023-2024学年安徽省天一大联考高二下学期7月期末】During my childhood days in the countryside, I tried a number of outdoor activities, mostly with my friends in my neighborhood. Minutes ticked by, and just when I thought my cousin’s promise might have been an exaggeration, my fishing rod suddenly jerked. My heart skipped a beat as I realized something had taken the bait. With trembling hands, I followed my cousin’s instructions and carefully reeled in the line. To my utter amazement, a shimmering silver fish leaped out of the water and into my waiting net. The thrill of catching my first fish was indescribable; it was an accomplishment that instantly erased all my doubts about fishing. From that moment on, I was hooked. After that experience, I always recommend fishing to my friends. I tell them about the tranquility it brings, the thrill of the catch, and the sense of accomplishment that comes with mastering the art of luring fish. More importantly, I share how fishing has taught me patience, focus, and the value of perseverance. It’s not just about catching fish; it’s about being in harmony with nature and finding solace amidst its beauty. Fishing has become more than just an outdoor activity for me; it’s a passion that has enriched my life in ways I never imagined. 词汇激活 行为类 ①时间流逝:tick by/go by ②意识到:realize/be aware of ③消除:erase/remove 情绪类 ①颤抖的:trembling/shivering ②热情:passion/enthusiasm 【点睛】[高分句型1] My heart skipped a beat as I realized something had taken the bait. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Mrs. Leonard, the pretty, fragrant teacher I adored, said softly, “I wish you were my little girl. ”I was completely astonished by what I heard. Tears welled up in my eyes and trickled down my cheeks. I couldn’t believe that someone as wonderful as Mrs. Leonard would actually say that to me. She didn’t treat me as if I were different, and with her words, she made me forget who I was. In that moment, all my insecurities and fears disappeared, replaced by a feeling of being truly loved and accepted. From that day on, I had a newfound confidence. I walked tall and proud, with my head held high. I no longer felt like an outcast because of my cleft palate. Mrs. Leonard’s kind words had a profound impact on me, and I made a promise to myself to never let anyone’s judgment hold me back again. I started to embrace my differences and realized that they made me unique. And I will always be grateful to Mrs. Leonard for giving me the strength to do so. 词汇激活 行为类 ①消失:disappear /fade ②取代:replace/take the place of ③拥抱:embrace /hug ④意识到:realize/be aware of 情绪类 ①惊讶:astonished/surprised ②感激的:grateful/appreciative 【点睛】[高分句型1] I was completely astonished by what I heard. “Really? How are they doing now?” Bryan explained about his parents’ disapproval about him taking on a part-time job first. “When I was younger, I wanted to be a builder but my parents said that builders were useless.” “Ridiculous!” Axel replied with much anger. “You should work hard and prove to them what you can be and what builders are!” Over the weeks, Bryan worked on a desk, with Axel, which Bryan’s parents really needed as they had lost their business and started becoming poor. When they showed the desk to his parents, his parents were shocked. They suddenly knew what Bryan could do for the family and a builder’s worth. Since then, Bryan and Axel became the best of friends. However, his parents had tried their best to persuade him to take the bus instead. “It’s along trip, and you might have ear troubles.” they said. Joe was convinced that he would be fine. After several failed persuasions. they hugged Joe good-bye, and off he went. Two days later. The Springs were becoming increasingly alarmed because their son had not called home. At first the Springs thought he had simply driven a hitchhiker to his destination. But as time passed, the Springs’ alarm took on a desperate tone. They contacted the police. also the local TV station aired Joe’s picture and story. and the local paper ran a front-page photo and coverage. Every day, The Springs drove and even walked sections of the highway that Joe had driven—looking for anything that might show them where Joe was. They even handed out posters to all detachments along the route Joe might have travelled. Desperately as they tried, they were also aware Joe might not be alive. “But we won’t give up easily. we must find him, even if...” the couple later told the reporter. The police believed that Joe’s car might have had an accident, leaving it just off the highway and only visible from the air. So Jodeen, a search helicopter pilot was posted to help the search. On receiving the task, Jodeen was piloting the helicopter over the dense forest alongside the highway. It had now been eight days since Joe disappeared. Most people would have quit. All those huge leafy trees in the dense forest formed a vision obstacle, making it almost impossible to see clearly from the sky. Jodeen then made a decision: lowering the helicopter to a dangerous height, which might cause the helicopter to run into those tree tops. But she had no time to think that much; all that was in her mind was to find Joe soon. Jodeen steered her helicopter carefully through the dense forest, focusing on the ground underneath. Then, suddenly she saw what she had been looking for — a splash of red among the trees directly beneath, just like in her dream! “There he is!” she called excitedly over the intercom, “I’ve got the car here!” Then Jodeen spotted a suitable field nearby. Hardly had Jodeen landed when she jumped out. From the distance, Jodeen noticed there was a figure in the car. P2: Jodeen dashed towards the car immediately.  After steeling herself for the worst, Jodeen noticed that Joe’s arm was moving back and forth in a faint wave. Joe was alive! “I’ve finally found you.” cried Jodeen excitedly. Joe groaned as if trying to respond. After a quick glance, Jodeen realized Joe was very close to death. Jodeen yelled over the intercom, “He’s alive! We need an ambulance!” As she called for help, her first thought was - his family would be so happy! In fact, it wasn’t only Joe’s family who celebrated the news. When the media announced Joe had been found alive, there was a collective sigh of relief. After several months’ recovery, Joe received an interview, when he owed his survival to the determination and persistence of his parents and Jodeen “If they had harboured any doubts about my survival, I might have vanished in the dense forest!” 词汇激活 行为类 导致:cause/lead to 集中精力于:focus on/concentrate on 注意到:notice/take notice of 情绪类 兴奋地:excitedly/feverishly 高兴的:happy/delighted 【点睛】[高分句型1] Jodeen then made a decision: lowering the helicopter to a dangerous height, which might cause the helicopter to run into those tree tops.(运用了which引导非限制性定语从句) [高分句型2] Hardly had Jodeen landed when she jumped out.(运用了部分倒装和固定句型hardly…when…,其中when引导时间状语从句) (五) 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Truman’s parents were scientists, and he also wanted to be a scientist, so he was determined to be at the top of science subject. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: Thinking about this, Truman rushed into the living room, his heart pounding. He threw his arms around his brother, his voice trembling with sincerity, “Bryan, I’m deeply sorry that I lost my temper. I never intended to hurt you. And from the bottom of my heart, I thank you.” He continued to tell his brother that these tubes had given him ideas, helping him find his perspective. Therefore, he can finally complete the report! “But,” Truman said, “I have to build a model beehive with these tubes. Can you help me?” “Well,” Bryan said hesitantly, with tears on his face. “You can help me glue them,” Truman offered. Bryan smiled and began picking out his tubes. Truman opened the drawer near the TV, grabbed a bottle of glue, and showed his brother how to stick the paper tubes. Working together, they made a model beehive. As they compared their creation to the real beehive in the garage, they agreed it was flawless. With his newfound focus, Truman completed his report well ahead of time, introducing a fresh perspective that fascinated his classmates. Mrs. Lawrence awarded him an A+ and praised his efforts in front of the entire class, leaving Truman feeling proud. 发脾气:lose one’s temper/get angry /fly into a temper ②.帮助:help /assist/aid ③.完成:complete/finish/accomplish 心理类 ①.遗憾的:sorry/regretful ②.迟疑地:hesitantly/uncertainly 【点睛】[高分句型1]. Instead, I was met with a clear sky and the soft sounds of morning in New York. The city seemed to be waking up with a gentle hum, not the chaotic rush I had imagined. I could see people walking their dogs, joggers in the park, and the first light of day reflecting off the windows of tall buildings. It was a peaceful start to what I had feared would be a daunting day. As I got used to this new setting, I realized that I didn’t have to be afraid of change. The city, with its energy and diversity, offered endless opportunities to explore and grow. I began to make friends with classmates who came from different backgrounds, each bringing something unique to our conversations. The change that once seemed so daunting now felt like a chance to broaden my horizons. I started to enjoy the new experiences, from trying different foods to visiting places I had only read about. New York was teaching me to embrace change, and I was learning to love it. 词汇激活: 行为类 ① 醒来:wake up/awaken ② 适应:get used to/adapt to ③ 搬家:move/relocate 情绪类 ① 惊讶的:shocked/surprised ② 适应的:comfortable with/at ease with 【点睛】[高分句型1]. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Version 1: “Why not try one more time?” said Allison. Her words echoed in my mind, and I found myself nodding in agreement. After all, I had come here with a purpose — to learn how to swim. So why give up now? With renewed determination, I took a deep breath and prepared to give it another go. This time, I focused on her instructions and tried to mimic her movements as closely as possible. Surprisingly, I was able to stay afloat for a few seconds longer than before. Progress, however small, was still progress. As the day drew to a close, I still could not swim very well. But I didn’t feel defeated or discouraged. Instead, I felt a sense of accomplishment and pride. After all, I had taken the first step towards overcoming my fear of water and learning a new skill. And even though I wasn’t quite there yet, I knew that with practice and patience, I would eventually get it. Besides, today had been more than just about learning how to swim. It had also been about finding the courage to face my fears and trying something new. And for that, I was grateful to Allison and the encouragement she had given me. Version 2: “Why not try one more time?” said Allison. She smiled at me encouragingly, her eyes filled with warmth and confidence. “You can do it, girl. I know it seems scary, but with the right techniques and some practice, you’ll be swimming like a fish in no time.” She handed me a swimming ring and gently guided me back to the shallow end of the pool. Together, we began the slow process of teaching me to float and then, eventually, to swim. As the day drew to a close, I still could not swim very well. But I had made progress, and that was what mattered. I could now float comfortably with the help of the swimming ring, and my kicks were becoming more coordinated. Allison praised me for my efforts and told me to keep practicing. She knew that with time and dedication, I would overcome my fears and learn to swim. And so, with a renewed sense of determination, I bid farewell to the pool that day, knowing that my journey to becoming a confident swimmer had just begun. 词类激活 行为类 ①克服:overcome/get over ②放弃:give up/quit ③面对,正视:face/confront 情绪类 ①感到沮丧、泄气:feel discouraged/feel frustrated ②感激:grateful/thankful 【点睛】【高分句型1】After all, I had taken the first step towards overcoming my fear of water and learning a new skill. Hutchinson. She handed the class our first task: to write about what you would want to be or what your dream job would be ten years from now. 注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 I had no idea because I had never thought about what I wanted to do in the future. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With Mrs. Hutchinson’s encouragement, three years later, I went to college and followed the dream I had. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】I had no idea because I had never thought about what I wanted to do in the future. A mix of confusion and curiosity flooded over me. I looked around, and everyone else seemed to be writing with purpose and determination, except for me. Mrs. Hutchinson noticed my expression and came over to me with a warm smile, “Dream big, and chase what makes you happy.” Taking a deep breath, I decided to write about my dream of becoming a teacher. In the following years, Mrs. Hutchinson was always there, providing guidance and advice whenever I needed it. With Mrs. Hutchinson’s encouragement, three years later, I went to college and followed the dream I had. At the start of my senior high school, I thought thinking about my future was the most challenging experience. However, it turned out that what I wrote that day set the course for my future. Now, as I stepped onto the college campus, I felt a sense of excitement and purpose. I was ready to embark on the next chapter of my journey, one that would lead me to become the teacher I had always dreamed of being. 词汇激活 行为类 ①决定:decide /determine ②提供:provide/offer ③追逐:chase/go after ④梦想:dream of/dream about 情绪类 ①兴奋:excitement/thrill ②快乐的:happy/pleased 【点睛】[高分句型1] In the following years, Mrs. Hutchinson was always there, providing guidance and advice whenever I needed it. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Helen nodded, took the money, and rushed off to the grocer’s. The cold air nipped at her cheeks as she made her way. Reflecting on the contrast between her family’s situation and that of Mr. Katz, she acknowledged her modest privilege, even though her family was far from rich, and resolved to do something meaningful. At the store, Helen carefully chose food that was both filling and nutritious. With her arms heavy with bags, she raced back, hoping to bring the family some comfort in these hard times. Everyone’s eyes turned to Helen as she entered Mr. Katz’s house. The children’s faces lit up at the sight of the food, and even Mrs. Katz’s weary expression softened into a hopeful smile as Helen unpacked the groceries. Mr. Katz murmured his thanks, his voice thick with emotion. On the way home, her father said softly to Helen, “Sometimes, sharing what we have is the truest form of wealth.” She nodded, realizing the power of compassion: it not only brought warmth to the givers, but lightened the burdens of others, even if just for a little while. 续写线索: 前往杂货店——思考家庭状况对比——选择食物——返回Katz家——家庭成员反应——父亲的教诲 词汇激活 行为类: 拿着:take/catch hold of 前往:head for/run to 选择:select/choose/pick out 情绪类: 感到羞愧:feel ashamed/feel dishonored 给人希望的:hopeful/anticipatory 【点睛】[高分句型1] The cold air nipped at her cheeks as she made her way.(使用了as引导的时间状语从句) [高分句型2] Reflecting on the contrast between her family’s situation and that of Mr. Katz, she acknowledged her modest privilege, even though her family was far from rich, and resolved to do something meaningful.(使用了现在分词短语作状语) (十一) 【2023-2024学年安徽省芜湖市高二下学期期末】In Rome there was once a poor slave whose name was Androclus. For each of these occasions, a fierce lion was locked up for a while without food, and a time was set for the fight. Paragraph 1 When the day came, thousands of people crowded in to see the fight. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2 The people, who had expected to see the man killed by the lion, were filled with wonder. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 When the day came, thousands of people crowded in to see the fight. The door opened, and poor Androclus was brought in. He was almost dead with fear and saw that there was no pity in the thousands of faces staring at him. Then the hungry lion rushed in. Oh, it was his old friend, the lion from the cave. People saw Androclus put his arms around the lion’s neck and the lion lay down at his feet, licking them lovingly. The people, who had expected to see the man killed by the lion, were filled with wonder. Androclus stood up before them and told how he and the beast had lived together in the cave. “I am a man,” he said, “but no man has ever befriended me. This poor lion only has been kind to me; and we love each other as brothers.” The people were not so bad that they could be cruel to the poor slave now. “Live and be free!” they cried, “Give both of them their liberty!” And so Androclus was set free, and the lion was given to him. They lived together in Rome for many years. 词汇激活 行为类 ①注视:stare at/gaze at ②迅速移动,冲:rush/dash ③呼喊:cry/shout 情绪类 ①害怕:fear/scare ②亲切地:lovingly/affectionately 【点睛】【高分句型1】He was almost dead with fear and saw that there was no pity in the thousands of faces staring at him. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: She checked it, surprised to find there was a new vacuum bottle for kids in it. Seeing it, Bill took the vacuum bottle from Nancy and jumped up and down with joy. With her heart beating fast, Nancy wondered whether they should give it back. However, thinking how worried the owner must have been, she bent down and looked at Bill, saying, “No, Bill. We should give it back.” Hearing it, Bill cried, but Nancy didn’t change her mind. Then, after some explanation, little Bill seemed to understand and finally nodded, supporting her idea. Based on the in formation on the business card, Nancy made up her mind to call the owner. The phone was answered by a woman after a few rings and Nancy explained the matter to her. The owner expressed her gratitude and said she would go to pick up the bag instantly. Before long, the owner arrived and Nancy handed the bag to her. She was so thankful that she insisted on giving Nancy some money. The woman also offered to give the new vacuum bottle to Bill when she saw Bill was quite fond of it. However, Nancy declined politely. In her opinion, doing a good thing doesn’t mean trying to get a reward. It shows good human nature. 词汇激活 行为类 ①哭泣:cry/weep/shed tears ②解释:explain/clarify ③表达:express/convey ④拒绝:decline/refuse/turn down 情绪类 ①开心:joy/delight/happiness ②担心的:worried/bothered/concerned ③感激的:thankful/grateful 【点睛】[高分句型1] With her heart beating fast, Nancy wondered whether they should give it back.
