Let's see if we can find any similarities or differences in their experiences ! Step 2 Work on la 1. Look at the pictures in la. Talk about them. 2. Ask students to match the activities with the pictures and write them under the correct picture. 3. Check answers. The answers are : A. visited a science museum B. cooked food C. went swimming D. did homework E. played badminton F. met up with friends. 3. Ask if anyone did these activities last weekend to engage the class. Step 3 Work on 1b 1. Tell the class we will listen to two conversations. First, read the questions and guess the answers. 2. Play the audio for the two conversations, Pause after each question to allow students to write their answers. 3.Check answers. The answers are : (1 )It was great. (2 )There were some special rooms, and they looked like parts of a space station. ( 3 ) It was terrible. ( 4) He was worried. Step 4 Work on 1e 1. Read the task and ask students to guess who did each activity. 2. Play the audio again and ask students to mark who did each activity with P for Peter or TF for Teng Fei. 3. Check answers in class. The answers are : P visited a museum ; went to an exhibition ; learnt how astronauts live and work ; talked to robots TF lost a book ; took the wrong bus; tried to help tourists ; gave directions Step 5 Work on 1d 1. Model the following conversation with a student A : How was Peter's weekend? B:It was great. A : What did he do? B : He visited a museum. 2. Pair students up and ask them to discuss one of the conversations from lb using the structure provided. Encourage students to use their own words and add details. 3.Ask some pairs to act out their conversations in class Step 6 Work on Pronunciation 1 -3 1. Explain the rules of pronunciations of words with e, ck , g and x. 2. Listen and repeat the words with c, ck, g,x sounds, adding one more word to each group. 3. Listen and repeat the words in Pronunciation 2. Focus on the pronunciation of-( e )d endings. 4. Read the coloured words in Pronunciation 3. Then listen to the short conversations and circle the words they hear, practising correct pronunciation. 5. Get students to practise reading the words and conversations in Pronunciation 1 - 3. Step 7 Summary Recap the key vocabularies and structures learnt today. Step 8 Homework Ask students to write a short paragraph about their own special day, using the structures learnt in class.
