专题02 阅读理解记叙文 (一) (辽宁省沈阳市省重点中学五校联考2023-2024高二下期末试题) For the past five years, Paula Smith, a historian of science, has devoted herself to re-creating long-forgotten techniques. While doing research for her new book, she came across a 16th-century French manuscript(手稿)consisting of nearly 1,000 sets of instructions, covering subjects from tool making to finding the best sand. The author's intention remains as mysterious(神秘)as his name; he may have been simply taking notes for his own records. But Smith was struck mainly by the fact that she didn't truly grasp any of the skills the author described. "You simply can't get an understanding of that handwork by reading about it," she says. Though Smith did get her hands on the best sand, doing things the old-fashioned way isn't just about playing around with French mud. Reconstructing the work of the craftsmen(工匠)who lived centuries ago can reveal how they viewed the world, what objects filled their homes, and what went on in the workshops that produced them. It can even help solve present-day problems: In 2015, scientists discovered that a 10th-century English medicine for eve problems could kill a drug-resistant virus. The work has also brought insights for museums, Smith says. One must know how an object was made in order to preserve it. What's more, reconstructions might be the only way to know what treasures looked like before time wore them down. Scholars have seen this idea in practice with ancient Greek and Roman statues. These sculptures were painted a rainbow of striking colours. We can't appreciate these kinds of details without seeing works of art as they originally appeared-something Smith believes you can do only when you have a road map. Smith has put the manuscript's ideas into practice. Her final goal is to link the worlds of art and science back together: She believes that bringing the old recipes to life can help develop a kind of learning that highlights experimentation, teamwork, and problem solving. Back when science—then called “the new philosophy”—took shape, academics looked to craftsmen for help in understanding the natural world. Microscopes and telescopes were invented by way of artistic tinkering(修补), as craftsmen experimented with glass to better bend light. If we can rediscover the values of hands-on experience and craftwork, Smith says, we can marry the best of our modern insights with the handiness of our ancestors. 1.How did Smith, feel after reading the French manuscript? A.Confused about the technical terms. B.Impressed with its detailed instructions. C.Discouraged by its complex structure. D.Shocked for her own lack of hand skills. 2.According to Smith, the reconstruction work is done mainly to _____________. A.restore old workshops B.understand the craftsmen C.improve visual effects D.inspire the philosophers 3.Why does the author mention museums? A.To reveal the beauty of ancient objects. B.To present the findings of old science. C.To highlight the importance of antiques. D.To emphasise the values of hand skills. 4.Which would be the best title for this passage? A.Craftsmen Set the Trends for Artists B.Craftsmanship Leads to New Theories C.Craftsmanship Makes Better Scientists D.Craftsmen Reshape the Future of Science 1.D 2.B 3.D 4.C 【分析】本文是一篇记叙文。 根据文章第二段“But Smith was struck mainly by the fact that she didn't truly grasp any of the skills the author described. "You simply can't get an understanding of that handwork by reading about it," she says.” 根据文章第三段“Reconstructing the work of the craftsmen(工匠)who lived centuries ago can reveal how they viewed the world, what objects filled their homes, ” 重建几个世纪前工匠的作品,可以揭示他们如何看待世界,他们的家里有什么物件。 根据文章第四段“The work has also brought insights for museums, Smith says. One must know how on object was made in order to preserve it. What's more, reconstructions might be the only way to know what treasures looked like before time wore them down.” 根据文章最后一段“If we can rediscover the values of hands-on experience and craftwork, Smith says, we can marry the best of our modern insights with the handiness of our ancestors. (二) (辽宁省大连市2023~2024高二下期末试卷) Born in 1958 in Nanning, Guangxi, Dr. Huang Danian became interested in geophysics early. His parents, teaching at a local geological institution, passed the passion down to him. In 1978, Huang was admitted to Changchun Institute of Geology and later taught there. He once wrote that rejuvenating (使恢复活力) the Chinese nation was their generation’s responsibility. In 1992, he went to Britain for further studies. There, he obtained his doctorate in geophysics and joined a local firm. During his time in the UK, Huang’s heart remained devoted to the motherland, frequently flying back to China to attend academic meetings or seminars related to his field. In 2008, he returned to China with great resolution. For him, no matter how successful he was abroad, the biggest satisfaction would be improving his home country. Upon his return to China, he was entrusted to work at Jilin University as a professor and chief scientist in a branch of China’s biggest deep earth exploration program. Over 400 scientists participated in the program, which aimed to fix high-tech cameras on aircraft, ships, and satellites that would enable scientists to see through the earth’s crust (地壳) without digging into it. For seven years, Huang worked racing against time. Many of his co-workers called him a workaholic while he thought he was more like a “lunatic (疯狂的人)”. “China is in urgent need of ‘lunatics’ if it is to become a stronger country. It would be an honor if I could be one of them,” he added. The lunatic’s madness paid off. He and his team helped China greatly narrow its gap with developed countries in obtaining precise data on deep earth exploration. They created a number of China’s No.1s, filling many technical gaps for China’s sky survey, ground detection, and sea exploration. During his whole life, he sought no fame, and always kept the motherland in mind. As a scientist, he fulfilled his dream of rejuvenating the nation with exceptional achievements. 1.Why did Dr. Huang decide to return and work in China? A.To work at Jilin University. B.To attend academic meetings. C.To devote himself to researching. D.To serve his motherland whole-heartedly. 2.What did the deep-earth exploration program focus on? A.Discovering new mineral resources. B.Competing with developed countries. C.Equipping various platforms with cameras. D.Helping scientists explore beneath the earth’s crust. 3.What did Huang and his team achieve? A.They won many international awards. B.They got accurate data on deep ocean. C.They attained many firsts in relevant fields. D.They helped China overtake developed countries. 4.Which of the following can best describe Dr. Huang? A.Committed and patriotic. B.Enterprising and crazy. C.Sensitive and rigid. D.Single-minded and unreliable. 根据第一段“He once wrote that rejuvenating (使恢复活力) the Chinese nation was their generation’s responsibility.(他曾写道,复兴中华民族是他们这一代人的责任)”以及第二段“In 2008, he returned to China with great resolution. For him, no matter how successful he was abroad, the biggest satisfaction would be improving his home country.(2008年,他毅然决然地回到了中国。对他来说,无论他在国外有多成功,最大的满足感将是改善他的祖国)”可知,黄博士为了全心全意为祖国服务决定回国工作。故选D项。 5.推理判断题。根据第三段“Upon his return to China, he was entrusted to work at Jilin University as a professor and chief scientist in a branch of China’s biggest deep earth exploration program. Over 400 scientists participated in the program, which aimed to fix high-tech cameras on aircraft, ships, and satellites that would enable scientists to see through the earth’s crust (地壳) without digging into it.(回国后,他受命在吉林大学担任教授和首席科学家,参与中国最大的深地探测项目。超过400名科学家参与了这个项目,其目的是在飞机、船只和卫星上安装高科技摄像机,使科学家能够在不深入地壳的情况下看到地壳)”可知,深地探测计划的重点是帮助科学家探索地壳下的世界。故选D项。 3.细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“The lunatic’s madness paid off. One day, he wandered in a beautiful small town. Because of his fame, people from nearby towns who heard of his arrival all came to visit and seek his advice. Many who came sought help with difficulties in daily life, and Thomas, unable to bear turning them away, patiently offered suggestions. Word spread quickly, and more and more people came to see Thomas for guidance. One day, dozens of people crowded outside Thomas’s door, all clamoring (大声地要求) that their problems were the most serious and urgent, each insisting that Thomas address their concerns first, with no one willing to yield (让步). After a moment of thought, Thomas took out some paper and a pen and said, “I can’t hear clearly with everyone talking at once. How about everyone write down your problem on a piece of paper and place it in this basket beside me?” Once everyone had placed their notes in the basket, Thomas shook the basket and said, “Please each take a piece of paper from the basket and read what it says.” As everyone read a note from someone else, they all realized that indeed, each person has their own troubles, and every household has its own challenges. Then Thomas spoke up, “Now, whose problem is the most urgent to solve?” Hearing that question, no one spoke again, because now no one dared to claim that their problem was the most severe. Often, we are bound by our immediate feelings. When difficulties and problems strike, it feels as though we are caught in a vortex of pain. But if we shift our focus from ourselves and look towards others, we might discover that the problems we face are not so significant. Perhaps others are the ones who need help more urgently, or maybe there is something within our power that we can do for them. 1.Why did people visit Thomas? A.For advice. B.For a meeting. C.For a competition. D.For introductions. 2.How did Thomas handle the crowd? A.He ignored them. B.He listened to each one individually. C.He prioritized the problems himself. D.He asked them to write down their problems. 3.What did reading others’ problems show to the people? A.The complexity of their difficulties. B.The similarity of their situations. C.Their need for more advice. D.Their living conditions. 4.What lesson did Thomas teach? A.Competition. B.Sympathy. C.Prioritization. D.Self-confidence. 【答案】1.A 2.D 3.B 4.B 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文,主要讲的是托马斯通过智慧和同情心来帮助人们认识到每个人都有自己的问题,并鼓励他们通过同情和理解他人来减轻自己的痛苦。 1.细节理解题。根据第一段“Because of his fame, people from nearby towns who heard of his arrival all came to visit and seek his advice.(由于他的名声,附近城镇的人听说他来了,都来拜访他,征求他的意见。)”可知,人们拜访托马斯是为了寻求建议。故选A。 2.细节理解题。根据第四段“How about everyone write down your problem on a piece of paper and place it in this basket beside me?(大家把你们的问题写在一张纸上,放在我身边的篮子里,怎么样?)”可知,托马斯通过让他们写下他们的问题来应付他们。故选D。 3.细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“As everyone read a note from someone else, they all realized that indeed, each person has their own troubles, and every household has its own challenges.(当每个人读到别人的纸条时,他们都意识到,确实,每个人都有自己的烦恼,每个家庭都有自己的挑战。)”可知,阅读别人的问题让他们意识到他们的处境相似。故选B。 4.推理判断题。根据最后一段“Perhaps others are the ones who need help more urgently, or maybe there is something within our power that we can do for them.(也许其他人更迫切需要帮助,或者我们可以为他们做一些力所能及的事情。)”可知,托马斯通过让大家写下自己的问题并阅读别人的问题让大家知道,要对其他人抱有同情心。故选B。 (四) (辽宁省协作体2023-2024高二下期末试卷) High employment, falling inflation (通货膨胀), and economic growth. On the surface, the US economy currently seems to be doing great. But as it turns out, things are not so rosy for the average American. According to a March 6 survey conducted by the Savings website, 47 percent of US parents provide financial support to their adult children to help deal with the cost of living struggles. Gen Zers (aged 18 — 27) were found to be the most likely generation to get financial help from their parents, receiving on average 1,515 dollars per month. Still, many older parents were found to support their Millennial (aged 28 — 43) or Generation X (aged 44 — 59) adult children, accounting for 21 percent of parents providing support. The most common expenses mentioned were groceries and health insurance. But why are so many US adults, both young and old, struggling to “leave the nest”? One major reason is food prices. According to a survey, food prices are expected to increase by nearly 2.5 percent in 2024. Meanwhile, stable housing remains an elusive dream for many. The average rate for a 30-year mortgage (抵押贷款) was almost 8 percent in 2023, which means many Americans are priced out of affording their own home. The final piece of the puzzle is falling salaries. Previous generations were able to count on graduating from college as the key to landing a job that paid well. But now, young graduates have found they earn less than their parents. College graduate salaries have decreased more than 10 percent in four decades after adjusting for inflation. In other words, steadily declining salaries make it even harder for young Americans to cope with rising costs. As Gen Zers in the US struggle under financial pressures, so do the older generations supporting them, as their sharing puts their retirement at risk. The Savings website discovered that working parents were found to contribute “2.4 times more to support adult children than they contribute to their retirement accounts each month”. Essentially, while the US economy remains afloat, we will witness multiple generations of Americans sinking in their own lifeboats in the years ahead. 4.What did the March 6 survey find out about adult children in the US? A.Nearly half of them are financially dependent. B.Over half of Gen Zers are financially struggling. C.21 percent of Generation X receive parental help. D.A majority of them rely on their parents for education. 5.What does the underlined word  “elusive”  in paragraph 4 most probably mean? A.Readily accessible. B.Difficult to achieve. C.Often misunderstood. D.Commonly sought after. 3.What can be inferred from the article about people in the US? A.Graduates’ financial struggles are temporary. B.Government policies favor older generations. C.Salaries for graduates tend to keep up with inflation. D.Financial pressures affect both the young and the old. 4.What is the author’s attitude toward the future of Americans? A.Negative. B.Optimistic. C.Ambiguous. D.Indifferent. 【答案】1.A 2.B 3.D 4.A 【导语】这是一篇新闻报道。文章主要讲述了美国经济表面上看似乎繁荣,但实际上普通美国人面临着诸多经济挑战和压力的问题。 1.细节理解题。根据第二段的“According to a March 6 survey conducted by the Savings website, 47 percent of US parents provide financial support to their adult children to help deal with the cost of living struggles.(美国储蓄网站3月6日调查显示,47%的美国父母为成年子女提供经济支持,以帮助他们解决生活成本问题。)”可知,3月6日的调查发现了美国成年子女其中近一半的人在经济上依赖他人。故选A。 2.词义猜测题。根据第四段的“According to a survey, food prices are expected to increase by nearly 2.5 percent in 2024. Meanwhile, stable housing remains an elusive dream for many. The average rate for a 30-year mortgage was almost 8 percent in 2023, which means many Americans are priced out of affording their own home.(。根据一项调查,2024年食品价格预计将上涨近2.5%。与此同时,稳定的住房仍然是许多人……的梦想。2023年,30年期抵押贷款的平均利率接近8%,这意味着许多美国人负担不起自己的房子。) ”可知,许多美国人负担不起自己的房子,由此可推知,稳定的住房仍是许多人难以实现的梦想,由此则划线词意为:很难实现的。故选B。 3.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段的“As Gen Zers in the US struggle under financial pressures, so do the older generations supporting them, as their sharing puts their retirement at risk. The Savings website discovered that working parents were found to contribute“2.4 times more to support adult children than they contribute to their retirement accounts each month”.(当美国的Z世代在财务压力下挣扎时,支持他们的老一辈人也一样,因为他们的分担会让他们面临退休的风险。储蓄网站发现,有工作的父母每月为成年子女提供的资金是他们为退休账户提供的资金的2.4倍。)”可知,经济压力对年轻人和老年人都有影响。故选D。 4.推理判断题。根据最后一段的“Essentially, while the US economy remains afloat, we will witness multiple generations of Americans sinking in their own lifeboats in the years ahead.(从本质上讲,虽然美国经济还在继续,但在未来的几年里,我们将看到几代美国人在自己的救生艇上沉没。)”可知,作者对美国人的未来持消极的态度。故选A。 (五) (辽宁省沈阳市郊联体2023-2024高二下期末试题) OpenAI, a leading artificial intelligence company, introduced a groundbreaking tool named Sora, which stands for “sky” in Japanese, that creates videos from text descriptions. Sora can craft clips (电影片段) up to 60 seconds long, matching a user’s detailed instructions about the content and visual style. This tool can also animate still photos (静态图像) or extend existing videos with additional scenes. Their recent blog post explains that they aim to equip AI with the ability to copy the physical world in action, assisting in tasks requiring interaction with reality. One example video displayed a 30-year-old astronaut with a red knitted helmet in a desert, showcasing the software’s ability to produce movie-like quality and stick closely to creative prompts (提示) . OpenAI has granted a select group of researchers and content creators early access to Sora to perform in-depth testing and ensure it meets ethical (道德的) standards. He got his license (执照) to practice law without ever having stopped foot inside a college. Everywhere he went, Lincoln carried a book with him. He looked through page after page while his horse rested at the end of a long row of planting. Whenever he could escape work, he would lie with his head against a tree and read. Though the young Lincoln never left America, he traveled with Byron’s Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage to Spain and Portugal: accompanied Robert Burns to Edinburgh; and followed the English kings into battle with Shakespeare. As he explored the wonders of literature and the history of the country, the young Lincoln developed ambitions (志向) far beyond the expectations of his family and neighbors. It was through literature that he was able to go beyond his surroundings and reach his destination. The books to feed Lincoln’s knowledge hunger did not come cheaply. The story is often recounted of the time he borrowed Parson Weems’s The Life of George Washington from Josiah Crawford, a well-to-do farmer. Touched by this story of the first president’s life, he took the book to his room at night, where he read as long as he could stay awake, placing the book on a shell between the logs (圆木) so he could fetch it at daybreak. During a heavy rainstorm one day, the book was badly soiled. Lincoln went to Crawford’s house, explained what had happened and offered to work off the value of the book. Crawford worked out the value of two full days’ work pulling corn, which Lincoln considered an unfair repayment. Nevertheless, he straightaway set to work and kept on until all work was done. Then, having paid his debt, Lincoln wrote poems and songs making fun of Crawford’s large nose. Thus Crawford won an everlasting place in Lincoln’s writings. 1.What can we learn about Lincoln from the first paragraph? A.He failed to get a law license. B.He preferred working to reading. C.He was an excellent self-taught learner. D.He read on horseback in order to escape work. 2.Which of the following contributed the most to Lincoln’s achievement? A.Reading widely. B.Creating his own business. C.Traveling around the world. D.Being supported by his family. 3.What happened to the book Lincoln borrowed from Crawford? A.It was stolen by a farmer. B.It was burned by a circle fire. C.It was damaged in a rainstorm. D.It was lost and never to be found. 4.Which of the following can best describe Lincoln according to the last paragraph? A.Proud and helpful. B.Honest and determined. C.Creative and curious. D.Intelligent and competitive. 【答案】1.C 2.A 3.C 4.B 【导语】这是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了亚伯拉罕·林肯热爱读书,书籍使他实现了自己的抱负的故事。 1.细节理解题。根据第一段的“Abraham Lincoln was a typical self-made man. He got his license to practice law without ever having stepped foot inside a college. Everywhere he went, Lincoln carried a book with him. (亚伯拉罕·林肯是个典型的白手起家的人。他从未踏进过大学,就获得了从事法律工作的执照。无论他走到哪里,林肯都会带着一本书。)”可知,林肯是一个优秀的自学者。故选C项。 2.细节理解题。根据第二段的“As he explored the wonders of literature and the history of the country, the young Lincoln developed ambitions far beyond the expectations of his family and neighbors. It was through literature that he was able to go beyond his surroundings and reach his destination. (在探索文学奇迹和国家历史的过程中,年轻的林肯发展出了远远超出家人和邻居期望的雄心壮志。正是通过文学,他才能够超越他周围的环境,到达他的目的地。)”可知,林肯通过广泛阅读实现了他的抱负,即对广泛阅读对林肯的成就贡献最大。故选A项。 3.细节理解题。根据第三段的“The story is often recounted of the time he borrowed Parson Weems’s The Life of George Washington from Josiah Crawford, a well-to-do farmer. ...During a heavy rainstorm one day, the book was badly soiled. (这个故事经常被讲述,他从一个富裕的农民乔赛亚·克劳福德那里借来了帕森·威姆斯的《乔治·华盛顿的一生》。……一天,在一场暴雨中,这本书被弄脏了。)”可知,林肯从克劳福德那里借来的书在一场暴风雨中受损了。故选C项。 4.推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“During a heavy rainstorm one day, the book was badly soiled. Lincoln went to Crawford’s house, explained what had happened and offered to work off the value of the book. Crawford worked out the value of two full days’ work pulling corn, which Lincoln considered an unfair repayment. Then, with the swiftness of a dream, he was held in his father’s arms out onto the nearby beach. Overhead the sky blazed with stars. “Watch!” Incredibly, as his father spoke, one of the stars moved. In a line of golden fire it flashed across the astonished heavens. And before the wonder of this could fade, another star leaped from its place, then another, plunging towards the restless sea. “What’s this?” the child whispered. “Shooting stars. They come every year on a certain August night. I thought you’d like to see the show.” That was all: just an unexpected glimpse of something mysterious and beautiful. But, back in bed, the child stared for a long time into the dark, knowing that all around the quiet house, the night was full of the silent music of the falling stars. Decades have passed, but I remember that night still, because I was the fortunate boy whose father believed that a new experience was more important for a small boy than an unbroken night’s sleep. No doubt I had all the usual childhood entertainment, but those are forgotten now. What I remember is the night of the shooting stars, and the day we rode in a caboose (列车末尾的职工车厢), the telegraph we made that really worked, and the “trophy table” in the dining room where we children were encouraged to exhibit things we had found — anything unusual or beautiful — snake skins, seashells, flowers, arrowheads... I remember the thought-provoking (引人深思的) books left by my bedside that pushed back my horizons and sometimes actually changed my life. My father had, to a marvellous degree, the gift of opening doors for his children, of leading them into areas of splendid newness. This subtle art of adding dimensions to a child’s world doesn’t necessarily require a great deal of time. It simply involves doing things more often with our children instead of for them or to them. 1.What does the underlined sentence in paragraph 4 mean? A.The child was still immersed in the beautiful scenery just now. B.The child was too frightened to fall asleep because of darkness. C.The child wanted to listen more to the music about falling stars. D.The child felt grateful to his father for what he showed him. 2.All the things the author remember from his childhood are ________. A.unusual and novel B.dangerous and demanding C.strange and uncommon D.educational and thought-provoking 3.What can we learn from the last paragraph? A.Parents should interfere more with their children’s learning. B.Parents should push their children to try to do everything on their own. C.Parents should devote energy to exploring new things for their children. D.Parents should encourage children to be curious and explore new things in life. 4.What’s the best title for this passage? However, if farmers want to earn more, they have to solve a range of problems such as scale expansion, processing and marketing, which is almost impossible relying on only their individual strength. But farmers in Nanxiaozhai Village in Huairen, a city in Shanxi, have found a solution. Guo Jianqiang, a resident in Nanxiaozhai, said he started his business in 2013 by raising about300 sheep. The number has since increased to 1, 000. “I earned an income of 2 million yuan ($309, 000) last year and the amount is expected to reach 9 million yuan this year, ” he said. Guo attributed the growth to the establishment of a sheep cooperative, which helped to expand operational scale and sales channels with the joint force of stockholders. According to Guo Zhidong, Party secretary of the village, Nanxiaozhai now has a total of 89 such cooperatives. The cooperatives have also developed a full industrial chain for sheep, ranging from raising, slaughtering and land processing to their sale. Nanxiaozhai has a long history in the sheep industry, according to the village Party chief, who explained that was a natural choice out of the village's environmental conditions. In Nanxiaozhai, residents used to farm on the infertile (不肥沃的) land and the grain yield could hardly support their existence. It was Lang Yueming, Cao Zhiguo and other villagers who started their business as sheep dealers in the late 1970s. “They could earn up to 20 yuan for selling a sheep,” Guo Zhidong said. “That was a very large income at that time.” Later, about 80 percent of the villagers were engaged in the business but they found purchasing sheep from neighboring villages became more difficult because of limited output. So they began to raise sheep themselves. The village business has boosted the sheep industry in Huairen as a whole. Statistics show the city’s annual output of sheep is about 6 million heads, making it a renowned sheep-producing base in Shanxi. 1.What is the problem faced by farmers in Nanxiaozhai? A.Finding better places to sell lambs. B.Satisfying the demand for more sheep. C.Making larger profits on their own. D.Destroying the environment with herds. 2.What does the underlined word “slaughtering” in Paragraph 4 mean? A.Killing. B.Producing. C.Counting. D.Feeding. 3.What can we know about residents in Nanxiaozhai? A.They are proud of being sheep dealers. B.They adapt to the conditions successfully. C.They benefit substantially from working on the land. D.They can't buy any sheep in the neighboring villages. 4.What can be a suitable title for the text? A.The Rise and Fall of Nanxiaozhai Village B.Sheep Herding Brings Prosperity Flocking C.The Switch from Sheep Industry to Farming D.Establishing Cooperatives Boosts Connections 【答案】1.C 2.A 3.B 4.B 【导语】本文是一篇新闻报道。文章主要讲述了山西怀仁市南小寨村通过建立养羊专业合作社,发展全产业链,让村民们走上了致富之路。 1.细节理解题。根据第一段中的 “However, if farmers want to earn more, they have to solve a range of problems such as scale expansion, processing and marketing, which is almost impossible relying on only their individual strength. (然而,如果农民想赚更多的钱,他们必须解决规模扩张、加工和营销等一系列问题,而仅靠他们的个人力量几乎是不可能的。)” 可知,南小寨村的农民面临的问题是——仅靠个人力量难以赚更多的钱。故选C项。 2.词句猜测题。根据画线词所在句中的 “The cooperatives have also developed a full industrial chain for sheep, ranging from raising, slaughtering and land processing to their sale.(合作社还发展了从饲养、 、土地加工到销售的全产业链。)” 可知,这里讲的是养羊全产业链,包括饲养、土地处理、销售,再根据顺序可推知, slaughtering 表示“屠宰”的意思,与killing同义。故选A项。 3.推理判断题。根据第五段 “Nanxiaozhai has a long history in the sheep industry, according to the village Party chief, who explained that was a natural choice out of the village's environmental conditions. In Nanxiaozhai, residents used to farm on the infertile (不肥沃的) land and the grain yield could hardly support their existence.(据村党委书记介绍,南小寨在养羊业有着悠久的历史,他解释说,这是出于村里环境条件的自然选择。在南小寨,人们过去常常在贫瘠的土地上耕种,粮食产量很难维持他们的生存。)” 以及最后一段“The village business has boosted the sheep industry in Huairen as a whole. Statistics show the city's annual output of sheep is about 6 million heads, making it a renowned sheep-producing base in Shanxi.(村里的生意带动了怀仁的养羊业。据统计,全市羊年产量约600万头,是山西著名的羊生产基地。)”可知,南小寨村的农民们一开始在贫瘠的土地上耕种,但难以维持生计,他们发展养羊业是出于村里环境条件的自然选择,他们现在靠养羊致富了。由此推知,村民们成功地适应了环境。故选B项。 4.主旨大意题。通读全文,根据文章第三段、第四段以及最后一段中的 “The village business has boosted the sheep industry in Huairen as a whole.(村里的生意带动了怀仁的养羊业。)”可知,本文主要讲述了山西怀仁市南小寨村通过建立养羊专业合作社,发展全产业链,让村民们走上了致富之路。由此可知,B 项Sheep Herding Brings Prosperity Flocking(养羊带动群荣)最适合用作本文标题。故选B项。 (十一) (辽宁省抚顺市六校协作体2023-2024高二下期末试卷) A dad from Texas didn’t miss a beat when it came to supporting his daughter recently. A.Craftsmen Set the Trends for Artists B.Craftsmanship Leads to New Theories C.Craftsmanship Makes Better Scientists D.Craftsmen Reshape the Future of Science (二) (辽宁省大连市2023~2024高二下期末试卷) Born in 1958 in Nanning, Guangxi, Dr. B.Enterprising and crazy. C.Sensitive and rigid. D.Single-minded and unreliable. (三) (辽宁省朝阳市建平实验中学2023-2024高二下期末试题) Thomas was a well-known wise man. (四) (辽宁省协作体2023-2024高二下期末试卷) High employment, falling inflation (通货膨胀), and economic growth. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ( UNESCO ) has recognized the art, called Jianzhi, on its Intangible (非物质的) Cultural Heritage (遗产) list. Voyo Woo, who is a Chinese student studying in the US, hopes to introduce the traditional Chinese art to Americans in her spare time. Ms. Woo loves paper cutting. And she works hard to celebrate the ancient art form. On a recent Saturday, Ms. Woo held a paper cutting show at a shopping center near Washington. She demonstrated the art to the crowds for hours at the shopping center. Ms. Woo began to study the art of Jianzhi as a 14-year-old girl in her hometown in southeastern China. She said all the students at school had to learn the art. However, she developed a special love for it, so her teacher gave her extra training after class. Later, she won second prize in a national painting and calligraphy competition. After Ms. Woo came to the US, she became involved in an event to support and expand the understanding of Chinese paper cutting. She has been invited to demonstrate the art at a wide collection of events. She has also shown her skill at famous museums in Washington. Ms. Woo says paper cutting represents Chinese cultural values, history and stories of people’s lives. She uses the art as a tool to present Chinese culture to people who know little about it. Ms. Woo placed examples of her art around her as she demonstrated paper cutting at the shopping center. Some shoppers, like Ann Russ, took part in a workshop. Ms. Russ was struck (打动) by the finely detailed nature of the work. “ I like to know about the Chinese art, specifically because it is very delicate (精致的). A.Limitless knowledge B.Father, the hero of my life C.Curiosity aroused that night D.The unusual things in my life (十) (辽宁省沈阳市联合体2023-2024高二下期末试题) Sheep herding is a profitable industry in China. A.The Rise and Fall of Nanxiaozhai Village B.Sheep Herding Brings Prosperity Flocking C.The Switch from Sheep Industry to Farming D.Establishing Cooperatives Boosts Connections (十一) (辽宁省抚顺市六校协作体2023-2024高二下期末试卷) A dad from Texas didn’t miss a beat when it came to supporting his daughter recently. Cecelia Simmons shared a video of her husband, Andre Simmons, dancing in the stands while their daughter Jazlyn and her Temple High School cheer team performed. In the video, as the cheer team members raise the small balls and go through their routine, Andre Simmons follows right along, nailing the moves right alongside them. The post shared on social media has obtained over 312,000 views. With tens of thousands of overwhelmingly positive comments on his post, people online quickly shared their reactions. They recommended Andre Simmons as “Cheer Dad of the Year” or applauded his energy and spot-on moves. Simmons himself was quick to say he’s not the best dancer and it took him a few days to learn the routine. “Once I got it down pat, I just jumped up there when I heard the band finally bring the song up and I got up there and did it with her,” he said. But the father of five said he persisted because he wanted to create a lifelong memory with his girl Jazlyn, mostly because he was constantly away for work, thereby affording limited opportunities to be in the company of her. “Since she made the cheer team, that was my way of supporting her and kind of relieving the guilt of the lost time. She thought I was doing things that she loved and surprising her with joining her in the cheer during the football game,” Simmons said. Simmons said Jazlyn and her cheer team friends were surprised and “absolutely loved” that he could join in on the fun. The proud dad said it meant “the world” to him to be able to be there for his daughter too. “I love to try to be a super dad when I’m here and create those lifelong memories and it’s something for us to look back on and enjoy together,” he said and planned on cheering some more and making more memories with Jazlyn. 1.What did Andre Simmons do at his daughter’s cheer performance? A.He danced with the team. B.He filmed the performance. C.He coached the cheer team. D.He cheered from the stands. 2.How did people find Andre Simmons’ behavior? A.Amusing. B.Disturbing. C.Odd. D.Admirable. 3.Why did Andre Simmons make such a decision? A.To win the title of “Cheer Dad of the Year”. B.To show off his newly learned dancing skills. (十二) (辽宁省锦州市2023-2024高二下期末试卷) A Hempstead woman who is visually impaired (损害) hosted a fashion show in Valley Stream, featuring 16 models with similar conditions in an event designed to bring awareness to the disabled. Annalee Smith, 41, who is diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa (色素性视网膜炎), which can result in loss of eyesight, says the show will raise money for the Foundation Fighting Blindness while showing, “regardless of our disability, we can still threw light on every step that we take through fashion”. Putting together the event has been her way of trying to change the fashion world. Originally from Barbados, Smith moved with her family to New York City at age 12 and went through the Hempstead school district. While at Long Island University in Brooklyn, Smith originally majored in nursing but changed to occupational therapy (职业疗法) as her eyes got worse. A passion for fashion and modeling always remained in her. She applied to different model agencies and other opportunities but didn’t hear back except for one. A clothes company LaTeffaney Scott holds a model competition, now in its 10th year, in which the winner is the face of the company for the year. Smith won last year. “No one expects a visually impaired young lady to take on a runway,” said Scott. “She did some reflection and she came up with this idea of doing the fashion show.” Kenya Brown, who developed glaucoma (青光眼) shortly after birth, said after finding out about the event via social media she wanted to be a part of the message. “I think the general public does not understand that people that live with disabilities have to actively work to be part of society. Those of us that are able to motivate ourselves enough to do productive things, or function well in society should be celebrated,” said Brown, who will be one of the models at the fashion show. 1.Why did Annalee Smith hold the fashion show?
