I've only started this channel this week, so i'm sort of nervous in front of the camera. Anyway, I want to share with you everything I know about health today. I want to talk to you about how to feel Younger. hi. I'm in my mid forties, yet I feel as energetic as I did when I was eighteen. So what is my secret? It's not really a secret. It's a combination of exercise, healthy eating and rest. Sleep is the most important aspect of all of this. I imagine many of you get around six hours of sleep at night. You might stay up late watching T, V, playing video games or just browsing your phone. What I suggest is setting an alarm an hour before you go to bed. That alarm is to remind you to stop looking at electronic screens. They produce blue light, which can prevent you from going to sleep. I would also suggest not eating or drinking anything two hours before a bedtime. If you are restless, a glass of milk can help to settle you, but no tea or coffee as they will keep you awake. Lastly, start your day on a positive note. With half an hour of exercise, IT may not seem like a lot, but over time, IT will dramatically improve your health. Now, if you have any questions, just type them on the screen. Hello, everyone, welcome. I've only started this channel this week, so i'm sure of nervous in front of the camera. The performers from the two schools have done their best in entertaining the audience with one song after another. Their performances are undoubtedly of high quality, which makes the concert almost no different from a live one. I enjoyed every second of the concert and was particularly attracted when the boys and girls from Britain started to sing the traditional Chinese song “Liang Zhu”. They performed the song in a way that touched my heart and gave me a feeling of connection. I hope there will be more opportunities in the future for the students from China and our international friends to learn about and from each other. 第二节:(满分 25 分) One possible version To my surprise, Ashley insisted on reporting the “Deerfield Stole Perry” story. “This is the very story we need to attract more readers,” she argued. To convince her, I defended that if we wrote this article, we would be telling a lie. Noticing her hesitant expression, I further explained the potential harm it would cause to the player and our paper’s reputation. After some discussion, Ashley finally gave in, “OK, let’s try with real stories.” Then I went to gather all the necessary information to write an article about Perry and the precious memories we shared over the years. On Thursday, the paper came out with the headline “Bye-Bye, Perry” on the front page. Soon, it sparked heated discussions among students about Perry. Many were disappointed with 2024 学年度 第 二 学 期 2 Perry’s sudden departure, but were comforted by the fact that he was in good care. The story also evoked(唤起) sweet memories of Perry. Some students even requested to share their stories of him in our paper! Seeing the story’s success, Ashley came to me and said sincerely, “You are right! It’s a good story.” Her words brought me a great sense of fulfillment. Indeed, true stories might not always draw attention, but they have the power to touch and connect. 听力材料 录音原文: Text 1 W: What did Thomson do after graduating from university? Sleep is the most important aspect of all of this. I imagine many of you get around six hours of sleep a night. You might stay up late watching TV, playing video games or just browsing your phone. We live in a small rented apartment in Park Merced, a large housing development. I would call us lower- middle-class. A lot of nurses, bus drivers, and tradesmen live here, many of them 1st or 2nd generation immigrants(移民). We’re all renters. Renters come and go and tend not to see the buildings they live in as their home. But it can be done. We started with a monthly two-hour social in the building lobby(前厅) on the second Fridays of each month. Some people came, between 15—30 each time. The events lasted two hours, but there wasn’t much to do besides talking, eating snacks and drinking juice. The socials were nice, but most residents gave them a miss. Then one day I was on the nearby campus of San Francisco State University. A young man from a social club for students had a big sign about “Building Community”. I asked him, “How do you do that?” He said they tried to get people to share something about themselves with at least one other person. That made a lot of sense to me. I bought a large world map. At the social, I taped it on the lobby walls with signs that said “Where We’re From. Put a green sticker where you were born and yellow stickers where your grandparents were born.” People put up their stickers and looked where other people came from. We left the map up overnight, and the next day, Saturday, more people played. I planned to leave the map and stickers up for a month or more. They certainly made the lobby more interesting than the housing project look it usually has. I see that there will be challenges, but I also know that a strong community will help us live good lives. I have the time and energy to do this work. 24. What trouble did the author have building a community? A. The community was poor. B. She lacked enough money. C. Renters had no sense of belonging. D. Her neighbors were all immigrants. 25. How did the author find her earlier events? 4 A. Fruitful. B. Ordinary. C. Inspiring. D. Messy. 26. What did the author do in order to change the socials? A. Adopt a sharing game. B. Add foods and drinks. C. Admit experienced locals. D. Ask some students for support. 27. Which of the following best describes the author? A. Responsible and strict. B. Demanding and ambitious. C. Knowledgeable and modest. D. Insightful and determined. C For many, travel isn’t just about the destination — it’s about making the most of the journey. However, for a lot of people, the journey is often ruined by an uncomfortable experience often accompanied by vomiting(呕吐), known as motion sickness. If you’ve ever felt the unwelcome urge to vomit while reading or using your device in a moving vehicle, you’re not alone. Recognizing this common issue, Apple has stepped up to offer a revolutionary solution: the Vehicle Motion Cues feature for iPhones and iPads. Motion sickness occurs when there is a disconnect between what your eyes see and what your body feels. When you’re in a moving vehicle, your body senses motion through its vestibular system (the inner ear), but if your eyes are focused on a still screen that doesn’t reflect this movement, the brain receives mixed signals. This sensory conflict can lead to dizziness, nausea, and overall discomfort — symptoms all too familiar to motion sickness sufferers. Apple’s new Vehicle Motion Cues feature is designed to bridge this gap and bring relief to those likely to experience motion sickness. This revolutionary feature works by displaying animated dots, around the edges of your screen, which move at the same time and speed as the motion of your vehicle. These moving cues help keep the motion your body feels in line with what your eyes see, effectively reducing the sensory mismatch that causes motion sickness. The magic lies in the simplicity and effectiveness. The animated dots move in consistency with the vehicle’s motion, providing a visual representation of the movement your body is experiencing. By matching the visual input with the physical sensations of motion, your brain is less likely to experience the confusion that leads to sickness. Early reports and user feedback indicate that Vehicle Motion Cues is receiving high praise for its effectiveness. So next time you embark on a journey, whether short or long, remember that Apple’s got your back — or rather, your brain — helping you make the most of every mile with ease and comfort. 28. Which type of people can be interested in Vehicle Motion Cues? A. Frequent travelers. B. Book lovers. C. Vehicle operators. D. Sport scientists. 29. What is paragraph 2 mainly about? A. The principle of Apple’s new design. B. The functions of Apple’s new design. C. The cause of motion sickness. D. The symptoms of motion sickness. 30. By displaying animated dots around the screen, Apple’s Vehicle Motion Cues is able to ________. A. balance the movement of our eyes and body B. tell the mismatched physical sensations C. ease sensory conflicts in the brain D. increase the effectiveness of vehicle motion 31. Which can be the best title of the passage? A. Make the Most of Your Journey: Apple Bridges the Gap B. Find the Magic of a Moving Vehicle: Apple’s Got Your Back C. Enjoy Your Reading: Apple Offers a Revolutionary Solution D. Say Goodbye to Motion Sickness: Apple Introduces Its New Design 5 D We all know cacti(仙人掌) store water — but to survive, they also adjust their flower positions to gain more sunlight or shade, and so much more. Scientists have been copying the resilient plants’ methods to help engineer our future. One of the most exciting advancements involves Copiapoa, a genus(属,种) of cacti with at least 32 species found in the coastal Atacama Desert, the driest nonpolar desert on Earth. These cacti, typically five to six inches wide, can form gray-green bushes that spread out over an area otherwise empty of vegetation. Documented by many scientists, Copiapoas probably survive by “drinking” the salty fog that sweeps in from the sea every morning, as well as the dew — tiny bits of water — that forms on their spines(尖) and skin. This has inspired researcher Tegwen Malik from Swansea University to think about whether the dew-collecting process might be reproduced in metal structures. Specifically, Malik took a close look at the one-and-a-quarter-inch spines of Copiapoas and found that their surface has a series of tiny channels that broaden at the base. “This creates a surface roughness that enables dewdrops to move along them even against gravity,” she says. Starting in 2013, she set out to re-create that structure by engineering a flat metal reproduction of the stems and spines of the Copiapoa, which she began testing under a series of different temperatures and humidities. After several years of experiments — testing indoor and outdoor conditions, and with various cooling methods — she finally got it to work. In 2023, Malik published a study showing that the irregular surface was 8 percent more efficient at harvesting dew than a flat sheet used as a baseline. Malik imagines desert homes with water-collecting features to provide clean water in dry regions. “The easiest way could be to place dew-harvesting surfaces on roofs, but you could also have these structures in tents in the desert,” she says. “We truly have hidden treasures in the Copiapoa, and we are only just learning some of their secrets.” 32. What does the underlined word “resilient” mean in paragraph 1? A. Highly adaptable to different soils. B. Able to grow quickly and efficiently. C. Resistant to diseases and harmful insects. D. Capable of surviving difficult conditions. 33. What drove Tegwen Malik to study Copiapoas? A. Their metal-like surface. B. Their mechanism to gather water. C. Their typical appearance. D. Their ability to form water drops. 34. What was the main focus of Malik’s experiment with the Copiapoa? A. Recreating a flat metal copy of it. B. Testing if its metal copy would work. C. Seeing how it survives various climates. D. Finding the most efficient cooling method for it. 35. How may Malik’s metal structure be applied? A. To secure water supply in dry areas. B. To clean salty water in desert homes. C. To enable desert explorers to travel light. D. To improve ways to discover hidden treasures. 第二节(共 5 小题;每小题 2.5 分, 满分 12.5 分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多 余选项。 During puberty(青春期), your body goes through many changes, and you start forming a body image — how you see, think, and feel about your body’s size, shape, and weight, or specific 6 features like your nose. 36 For instance, you may believe your nose is too big or too small, even though it looks perfectly normal. 37 One major influence is peer(同龄人) pressure. Your friends might make casual jokes about your appearance, or you might compare yourself to them and feel they look better. Such experiences can harm the way you view yourself. Another powerful influence is the media, which often promotes a narrow, ideal body type. For example, if fair(白皙的) skin is portrayed as beautiful, you may feel insecure if you don’t match that ideal. Developing a negative body image can lead to unhealthy behaviors, such as extreme dieting, overexercising, or even risky plastic surgeries(整容手术). 38 When you focus too much on appearance, you may forget to appreciate other great things about yourself, such as your talents and personality. To build a positive body image, it’s essential to remember that no perfect body exists, as beauty standards are always changing. Models and celebrities may appear flawless in the media, but much of their appearance is due to makeup, angles, lighting, and editing. 39 Rather than focusing on appearances, value people for their true selves. By surrounding yourself with positive influences and avoiding comments on looks, you can redirect your attention from self-criticism. 40 Over time, you’ll build inner confidence and develop a healthier, more accepting relationship with your body. A. Many factors shape your body image. B. It also lowers your overall life satisfaction. C. However, your true beauty lies within your heart. D. External judgement can be a double-edged sword. E. Without these tricks, they are just as “imperfect” as everyone else. F. Surprisingly, body image is shaped more by your thoughts than by reality. G. This shift(转变) enables you to recognize and celebrate your talents and strengths. 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分 30 分) 第一节(共 15 小题;每小题 1 分,满分 15 分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C、D 四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选 项。 Automation(自动化) certainly has its advantages. We need better stories for this Thursday’s school newspaper. Does anybody have any ideas?” she said. I handed her my article about our basketball team beating Deerfield High School the previous night by one point. “Sports stories are fun,” she said, “but not good enough for the front page. We need something to really get people’s attention.” After our meeting, we left the newsroom together and heard someone screaming, “Perry is missing!” Perry was a big red parrot(鹦鹉) and had been our school mascot(吉祥物) for ten years. He played an important role in students’ lives, both in and out of class. He had also been a constant presence at school events, inspiring a sense of unity among students. Everyone gathered around Perry’s empty cage, heartbroken. Suddenly, a student from the crowd came over and showed me a photo. “You’re a reporter for the school paper, right? I happened to take this yesterday,” he said. In the photo was a Deerfield High School basketball player with something large hidden under his shirt around the size of a parrot. “He must have stolen Perry to get back at us for winning the game!” Ashley cried. We hurried back to the newsroom, agreeing to run the photo on the front page with the headline “Deerfield Stole Perry”. “This is just the story we need. Everyone will read it,” Ashley said confidently. After she left, I took a closer look at the photo. The clock in the background read 4:15 pm, but our game against Deerfield hadn’t started until 4:30 pm. Why would the boy have taken Perry before we even played? An uneasy feeling came over me that we might have falsely accused someone. I went to Perry’s usual caretaker to ask if he knew Perry was missing. “He’s not missing. He’s retired. He’s ready for some quieter days,” he said. Learning the truth, I immediately told Ashley and suggested writing a story to say goodbye to Perry. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为 150 左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 To my surprise, Ashley insisted on reporting the “Deerfield Stole Perry” story. _____________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ On Thursday, the paper came out with the headline “Bye-Bye, Perry” on the front page. _____ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________
