(2025·北京西城·一模)In a little town, there was a clock tower that had stood for centuries. The clock tower was known for its perfect timekeeping, and was looked after by Mr. Pendulum, the town’s timekeeper.
One day, Mr. Pendulum decided to take on an apprentice (学徒). He chose a young boy named Oliver, who had always been attracted by the clock tower. (2025·北京平谷·一模)It was a sunny spring morning. The air was fresh and the sky was blue with a few white clouds. This day was special because I finally learned to ride a bike on my own.
For years, I watched my friends ride their bikes with envy (羡慕). Every time they sped by, laughing and enjoying the wind in their hair, I felt jealous. My efforts always ended in tears as I couldn’t keep my balance.
That Saturday, my father decided to teach me to ride. He took me to a quiet park, away from busy streets and traffic. The grass was green and flowers were blooming, adding color to the peaceful setting.
My father held the back of my bike seat tightly as I pedaled (踩踏板) slowly. At first, I was nervous and tense, expecting to fall any moment. But as I gained confidence, I relaxed and enjoyed the feeling of moving by myself.
After a few rounds, my father gradually let go of the bike without my noticing. I kept pedaling until I turned around and saw him standing a few feet away, smiling proudly. That’s when I realized I was riding alone.
The excitement was indescribable. I felt a strong sense of independence and success. I rode faster and farther, exploring the park with a freedom I’d never felt before.

I read her story without stopping. It was perfect! I loved it. “Wow, great story,” I told her. “I don’t have any suggestions.”
“Yours too,” she mumbled (嘟哝). She didn’t even look at me as she passed mine back.

Outside of the school, I spotted (发现) Penny sitting on a bench. I walked over and handed the book to her. She hung her head, almost crying! All of a sudden, I wasn’t angry anymore. At school the next morning, I found Penny at her locker.
“I thought I would love writing club, but I never have a single idea for a story,” she said.

Laurie had just come home from school when she heard a light hammering (敲击) sound coming from Grandpa’s study. Curious, she tapped on the door. “Grandpa? Can I come in?”
“Just a second!” Grandpa answered. Laurie heard lots of shuffling (拖着脚走). “Enter!”
Grandpa was sitting empty-handed at his desk, but there were wood shavings (刨花) everywhere. “Aren’t you supposed to be at school?” he asked.
“It’s over at three. What were you doing here?” Laurie said curiously. She saw something wooden underneath a book. “Aha!” she cried, pulling the object out. “What’s this?”
“Well, that’s your birthday gift. But now it won’t be a surprise,” Grandpa said.
It was a wooden crocodile (鳄鱼) with a string (线) on the top of its head so the mouth could be opened and shut.
“It’s an ancient Egyptian (埃及的) toy,” Grandpa said. “I made this, but if you were a child in ancient Egypt, you might have something similar. Crocodiles were an important part of Egyptian life, and many crocodiles lived in the Nile River.”
“The Egyptians depended on the Nile River for many things. It flooded every year, giving much-needed water and nutrients (营养物) to the land. This made farming easy for the Egyptians. The soft, wet land also made good mud (土) for building mud-brick houses.”
“And the river provided the people of the area with a convenient highway for transportation and communication.”
“Ancient Egypt was an agricultural society. If you were a little Egyptian girl living about four thousand years ago, your father would probably be a grain farmer. Grains were the most common crop, especially wheat and barley, which were used to make bread and beer—the most typical food and drink.”
“Unluckily, children didn’t go to school like you do now. You’d probably spend most days helping your parents. During the harvest season maybe you would bundle (捆扎) wheat up on the farm. Or perhaps you’d be at home, helping to cook or take care of the vegetable garden near your house.”
Just then, Mom called from downstairs, “Laurie! I’m home!”
“Hi, Mom! I’ll be right down!” Laurie said. “Thanks, Grandpa. I’ll pretend (假装) I never saw this,” she said, putting the crocodile back on the desk. “Until next time!”

“Bah! Humbug! Christmas is just a waste of time!”
Fred tried to explain that Christmas was about kindness, giving, and family, but Scrooge wasn’t interested. “Keep Christmas your way,” Scrooge snapped. “Let me keep it my way!”
Later that night, as Scrooge was getting ready for bed, the doorbell rang. He opened the door and saw the ghost of his old partner, Jacob Marley, standing before him. Marley was covered with chains (链条) , pulling heavy locks behind him.
“What do you want with me?” Scrooge asked, shaking.
“I have come to warn you,” said Marley’s ghost. “You will be visited by three spirits tonight. They will show you what your life has been, what it is now, and what it will become if you do not change.”
Scrooge was frightened but listened carefully. Marley disappeared, and Scrooge was left alone in his dark, cold room.

Passage13
(2025·江苏扬州·一模)My name is Vienna Cammarota. I’m a hiker (徒步者) from Italy. I have been a fan of Italian traveler Marco Polo since childhood, which later led me to become a tour guide. Years of hiking have helped me stay healthy. Even at 75, I still have no need for reading glasses.
About 20 years ago, my interest in China was started by a student from Beijing who stayed in my home. The connections we made and the friendships we developed made me more curious about China. Following that, I found myself interested in The Travels of Marco Polo, reading it over and over again to understand China through its descriptions. The description of the ancient Silk Road in the book attracted me deeply.
In 2018, the idea of hiking along the ancient Silk Road came to me, which encouraged me to plan a journey covering 22, 000 kilometers from Venice to Beijing, passing through 15 countries in three to four years. At first, my children thought it was impossible. However, as they saw the details of my plan, they gave me their full support.
My journey began on April 26, 2022. For more than two years, I experienced many challenges: bad weather, tiredness and lonely moments. I walked through mountains and waters, and crossed cities and villages in different countries. Along the way, I learned about the history, culture, and customs of each country I visited. As I explored the remains of the ancient Silk Road, I was shocked by the changes that our world has experienced.
I also witnessed that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), continuing the spirit of the ancient Silk Road, has helped more and more people across different countries.
Today, walking on the same “golden ancient route” with Marco Polo’s book in hand, I feel proud. Looking back on my journey, I want to tell friends of my age: Be brave in pursuing (追求) your dreams-nothing is impossible!

Too scared to tell the truth, I quickly put the broken pieces together and hid them under the rose bushes in the backyard.
In the following days, I avoided Grandma’s kind eyes. Every time she entered the room, I pretended to be busy studying. When she walked towards the crowd, she saw a man lying in a pool of blood near a broken motorbike. His leg was almost cut off at the knee. Luckily, when Helen asked how he was doing, the young man could still talk, even though he was in great pain. Helen knew some knowledge about first aid and had taken a first aid course with the British Red Cross. She used her skills to quickly check the situation. Then she ran back to her house to get some thick towels to stop the bleeding (流血).

“We’ve been here before,” Becky said quietly and nervously. “We’re lost.” She sat down on the ground, holding her old skirt. Tom tried to look brave. He raised the shaking candle light to look at the cave walls with strange signs left by others long ago.
Suddenly, Tom saw a thin opening in the east wall they had missed. “Look! A way out!” He helped Becky stand up. The hole was so narrow that they had to move sideways. After crawling (爬行) through wet tunnels (隧道) for what felt like hours, they entered a big room full of shiny rocks.

Passage9
(2025·江苏苏州·一模)
“Until next time! Bye, Laurie!”

Gus Kiebel, a wildlife officer, was driving home when he saw the dogs in the snow. He noticed they wore collars with name tags. Gus stopped his truck and gently approached them. The dogs didn’t try to run away. He read their names and tried calling the number on their tags, but the snow made it hard to use his phone.
Gus decided to take the dogs into his truck to keep them warm. He called the number again, but the owner said he didn’t want the dogs anymore. Realizing they were abandoned, Gus called his wife, Katie. She told him to bring them home because they couldn’t leave the dogs outside in the storm.

Passage11

“Bah!
The first spirit appeared: the Ghost of Christmas Past, dressed in bright clothes. The spirit took Scrooge back in time to his childhood. Scrooge saw himself as a young boy, sitting alone in a classroom on Christmas Eve. Then they visited a scene where Scrooge, as a young man, worked for a kind boss named Mr. Fezziwig, who celebrated Christmas with his workers. Scrooge felt sadness as he remembered the joy he once had.
The spirit then showed him how he had fallen in love with a woman named Belle. She had loved him, but as he became more focused on money, he pushed her away. She left him, and Scrooge realized he had lost the most important things in life for wealth.
The second spirit appeared: the Ghost of Christmas Present, a large figure in green. The spirit showed Scrooge the present day, beginning with Fred’s Christmas party. Fred continued to show love and kindness to his uncle, even though Scrooge never made any response. Scrooge was moved to see how Fred’s happiness was not affected by his uncle’s absence.
The spirit also took Scrooge to the home of Bob Cratchit, his employee. Bob’s family was poor, but they celebrated Christmas with love. Bob’s youngest son, Tiny Tim, was very sick, but the Cratchits stayed hopeful. Scrooge felt sorrow as he saw Tiny Tim’s condition and began to care for the people he had paid no attention to.
Finally, the third spirit arrived: the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, a dark, silent figure dressed in black. It pointed to scenes of the future, showing Scrooge the death of Tiny Tim if nothing changed. Then the spirit showed Scrooge his own lonely death. People spoke badly of him, and no one cried for him. Scrooge was frightened by what he saw.
The spirit pointed to a tomb. Scrooge read the name on the tombstone and saw that it was his own. He fell to his knees, begging for a chance to change.

And when he does it, he always asks, “Okay, what’s the next thing I’m going to do?”
Micah started painting in 2016 when he was with the Los Angeles Dodgers. After coming home from a game all excited and not ready to go to bed, he would paint. “I would take canvases (画布) on the road. I had such a deep love for painting that I couldn’t put it down.” said Micah.
In 2018, his time in Major League Baseball ended. By then, he had fallen in love with art and decided to give it a try.
After hearing a young Black kid ask if astronauts could be Black, he started painting young Black kids as astronauts. In order to reach more people with his message, he created a 3D character named Aku. (2025·山东济南·一模)When I was 13, I knocked over Grandma’s favorite white vase while cleaning the shelf. It was broken into pieces. My heart raced with fear because I knew this vase had been in our family for years. Too scared to tell the truth, I quickly put the broken pieces together and hid them under the rose bushes in the backyard.
In the following days, I avoided Grandma’s kind eyes. Every time she entered the room, I pretended to be busy studying. Days passed and on my 14th birthday, Grandma handed me a gift which was wrapped in yellow paper. Inside was the same vase—but now it had golden lines running across it like rivers of light. “I found the pieces last month,” she smiled. “I used special gold glue to fix it. See? The cracks (裂缝) don’t hide our mistakes. They make the vase stronger and more beautiful.”
I placed the vase on my desk. Every morning, the golden lines reminded me that mistakes aren’t disasters (灾难) but are chances to learn and grow. Grandma’s words stayed with me, teaching me an important lesson about life.
One day, a few months later, my cousin Paul dropped by. We played games in my room and he knocked over the vase by accident. A small piece chipped off. (2025·浙江宁波·一模)The day had started out as usual for Mrs. Ito until the late afternoon, when the news of the tsunami (海啸) waves came over the radio.
At last, 12:30 a.m. came as the radio warning had said and nothing happened. She could hear passing people say the tsunami waves must have missed the islands and they laughed as they were returning to their homes. Mrs. Ito went into her living room and looked down the street. It was calm.
①Then, a sudden flash-like lighting lit the sky over Hilo Bay and a deafening explosion broke the night’s silence. The first large wave of the tsunami had destroyed (摧毁) Hilo’s electric power plant (发电厂). Suddenly, all the lights in Hilo went out.
②Before she knew it, the wave roared into her house. She was knocked to the floor as her house began to spin (旋转) and finally tore apart. Terrible crying sounds came from her neighbors’ homes. Desperately (绝望), Mrs. Ito grasped for anything to stay above water.
③Suddenly, something heavy fell on her. The floorboards opened up and she became trapped (被困住). She tried to get out of the boards and managed to squeeze free. Then she blacked out.
When she woke up, she found herself being washed back and fourth as the water rose.
④She couldn’t see anyone else and listened for the sound of ocean waves. There were no waves, so she guessed she had to be floating (漂浮) over flooded land. Mrs. Ito tried to touch bottom with her foot but it was too deep. Not knowing how to swim, she hung on tight to her tiny makeshift (临时的) raft.
At sunrise, she found two boats far away. She saw in the distance a radio station tower light. She remained at peace and kept her head down. She thought that death was just a matter of time away. She thought the people on the boats hadn’t seen her. Then the boats came closer and closer. Mrs. Ito was seen and saved.

【导语】本文是一篇记叙文,讲述了伊藤夫人在海啸中的求生经历。
1.推理判断题。根据第二段“She could hear passing people say the tsunami waves must have missed the islands and they laughed as they were returning to their homes.”可知,听到海啸可能错过了岛屿的消息,路过的人们都笑了,由此可推知,人们对于收音机里的警告是放松的,故选D。
2.推理判断题。根据第四段“Before she knew it, the wave roared into her house.”可知,在她意识到之前,海浪咆哮着冲进了她的房子,由此可推知“Next thing Mrs. Ito heard was a rumbling sound.”意为“伊藤夫人接下来听到的是隆隆声”,这句话应该放在海浪冲进房子之前,即②处,故选B。
3.细节理解题。根据最后一段“Then the boats came closer and closer. Mrs. Ito was seen and saved.”可知,船越来越近了,伊藤夫人被看到并获救了,故选B。
4.主旨大意题。通读全文可知,本文主要讲述了伊藤夫人在海啸中的求生经历,最终幸运获救的故事,故选A。
