Everyone is talking about artificial intelligence (AI) these days. Have you ever dreamed of using AI to help with your studies?
Well, don’t just dream about it. The “AI-powered study rooms” that are popping up all over the country promise to do just that.
Once you sign up, you’ll get a tablet (平板电脑) with “AI apps”. These apps will “create personalized study plans” and “tailor exercises based on your progress” to help you learn more effectively. These study rooms also claim that their services are more affordable than traditional tutors (家教). The tablet, along with the first month of tutoring, usually costs 5,000 yuan. After that, it’s about 2,000 yuan per month.
Don’t these promises sound attractive? But hold your horses! You’d better finish reading this article before asking your parents to pay the money.
Many parents who have signed their children up for these “Al-powered study rooms” are far from impressed. The “AI apps” don’t live up to their promises. They just spot mistakes and offer repetitive exercises. On top of that students are basically following pre-recorded lessons. “These so-called ‘AI-powered study rooms’ are more of a trick than a real display of new technologies,” some parents complain.
Don’t feel discouraged, though. Your dream of learning with AI is still alive. There is just no need for you to spend a fortune on a paid “study room” to jump on the AI bandwagon.
From Moonshot AI to DeepSeek, many companies offer their AI chatbots for free. You can use them to help with your studies right at home. The key is to learn how to use them wisely. Asking AI to do all the exercises for you simply isn’t the way to go! Instead, you can ask for clearer and more detailed explanations if you are confused about something in class. You can also share some English sentences or compositions with an AI chatbot and ask it to point out any mistakes. It can even give you some exercises to help you improve. It will take some time and practice to become a smart AI user, but that effort will serve you better than just sitting in an “AI-powered study room”.
29. What can you learn about “AI-powered study rooms” from the passage?
A. They can really satisfy all the parents’ needs.
B. They are getting popular all over the country.
C. They are more expensive than traditional tutors.
D. They provide users with the same study plan.
30. What does the underlined sentence “But hold your horses!” probably mean?
A. Please keep your horses moving smoothly.
B. Please hurry up, or you will miss the chance.
C. Please stop your horses to have a look at it.
D. Please keep calm before making a decision.
31. According to some parents, which of the following is TRUE?
A. “AI-powered study rooms” have greatly improved children’s study.
B. “AI-powered study rooms” are not so effective as they promised.
C. “AI-powered study rooms” make good use of new technologies.
D. “AI-powered study rooms” have impressed parents with new skills.
32. What’s the purpose of writing the article?
A. To encourage us to use AI tools. B. To show us what AI chatbots can do.
C. To tell us to be wise AI users. D. To explain why AI tools become popular.

An asteroid (小行星) striking our planet is an event of science fiction. You can find more than a few books and movies using that idea. But an asteroid hitting Earth is also an event of scientific fact. Recently, it has been reported that an asteroid, named 2024 YR4, might be headed for Earth. It has a chance of hitting the planet in seven years.
Don’t run for cover just yet. “Asteroids, in general, are not something people should be overly worried about,” said NASA engineer Davide Farnocchia. NASA and its international partners have been tracking asteroids for years.
The chances of an asteroid strike are small, but when it happens, it’s called an impact event. This usually doesn’t pose a risk to the whole planet.
Asteroids are space rocks. When they fall to Earth, they’re called meteorites (陨石). Most small asteroids burn up in the atmosphere and never reach the ground. Bigger ones might make it through the atmosphere, but they usually end up in the ocean or open areas. This causes little or no harm to human beings.
Even so, scientists are studying asteroids to learn about their risks. In 2021, a group of scientists published a report on this subject. It said that an asteroid strike could cause such strong shock waves that they would knock down trees and buildings as well as cause fires. If it hit the ocean, there would be huge waves in the sea.
These are all direct effects. In the long term, these impacts could change ecosystems (生态系统). For example, uncovered soil after an impact could change how rainwater flows. Dust from the impact could also change the climate.
One famous event was the 1908 Tunguska impact in Siberia. The 65-meter-wide rock caused bright nights for days from Siberia to the Atlantic Ocean. Another example was the 2013 Chelyabinsk meteor in Russia, which was 20 meters wide. It caused little damage on the ground, but its explosion in the air created a shock wave. About 1,500 people were hurt and many buildings were damaged as a result.
Bigger asteroids cause more damage. The good news is that we can redirect asteroids. In November 2021, NASA sent up the spacecraft DART. Its target was an asteroid named Dimorphos. About one year later, DART successfully crashed into Dimorphos. NASA later stated that the asteroid’s orbit was changed. This was the first time humans had changed the movement of a space object on purpose.
33. What can we learn about 2024 YR4?
A. It is an asteroid in a science fiction. B. It is a newly discovered star in 2024.
C. It might crash into the Earth in 2031. D. It dropped onto the Earth in 2024.
34. What is the underlined word “pose” in the passage similar to?
A. Cause. B. Prevent. C. Reduce. D. Control.
35. What problems may an asteroid strike lead to?
①climate change ②rich soil ③building damage ④terrible fires ⑤huge waves
A. ①②④⑤ B. ①③④⑤ C. ②③④⑤ D. ①②③④
36. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. Humans can reach any asteroid. B. More asteroids can be discovered.
C. Humans can live on bigger asteroids. D. An asteroid strike can be prevented.
【答案】33. C 34. A 35. B 36. D

Ne Zha 2 is breaking box office records in China and around the world, becoming the first Asian film to enter the top ten highest-grossing movies worldwide. Experts predict the film could earn over 15 billion yuan, which means it could break into the global top five.
The success of the film is largely because of the high quality of its animation, but reviewers also note the story, which is not only entertaining but also manages to reach deeply into the human heart. The story is based on Investiture of the Gods, a 16th-century novel inspired by an ancient Chinese myth.
A myth is where all storytelling begins. Every culture has myths that try to explain the history of its people, and these myths often include supernatural beings that control the forces of the Earth and the lives of its inhabitants. In other words, myths are how the ancients were able to understand the world.
In modern times, science has swept away the idea of the supernatural. We know physics and chemistry, and we understand what causes natural phenomena (现象) such as earthquakes and volcanoes. However, what science has failed to explain, and perhaps never can, is our human “sense”—the special awareness of ourselves, including our thoughts, memories and emotions. This is why myths, the stories our ancestors told, still have a strong connection to the modern world. They help us understand what it means to be human and to live with other human beings.
Ne Zha 2 is a great example. It focuses on the coming-of-age journey of the rebellious (叛逆的) boy and explores common themes such as family bonds and responsibility. The main character Ne Zha is a demon (魔) and a troublemaker, but he is also a boy who wants love and understanding. There is a touching scene in the movie when his mother has to say goodbye. She says, “Every day I spend with you, I am very happy. I have never cared whether you are a fairy or a demon. I only know you are my son, and ▲ .”
A mother’s love is timeless and universal, and so are the lessons of ancient myths. These tales are deeply rooted in our psychology (心理), which is why they remain popular today. While our “scientific” minds know that these stories can’t be factual, our “consciousness” understands that they are true.
37. According to the reviewers, what makes Ne Zha 2 a success?
A. The wonderful scenes and character designs.
B. The record-breaking box-office performance.
C. The well-known characters and movie makers.
D. The excellent quality and the touching story.
38. Why do myths still have a connection to the modern world?
A. Because humans know nature very well.
B. Because humans have a special awareness.
C. Because the idea of the supernatural is true.
D. Because science can explain the supernatural.
39. Which of the following might be the best choice for “ ▲ ”?
A. I am sorry you are a demon B. I will always punish you
C. I will love you forever D. I am sure you’ll be a fairy
40. What’s the best title for the passage?
A. The Power of Myth B. A Troublemaker
C. Ne Zha and His Family D. A Mother’s Love
【答案】37. D 38. B 39. C 40. A

Astronauts Suni Williams and Butch A Wilmore never imagined that they would spend nine months in orbit. Their first trip to the International Space Station (ISS) in June last year was supposed to last just eight days. ____41____
Now they are finally returning home. Although they are both experienced astronauts, staying in a low-gravity environment for a long time has probably affected their bodies. ____42____
Muscles and bones
Without the constant pull of gravity on our arms and legs, muscle and bone mass quickly get weaker. Weight loss
____44____ Although NASA tries to ensure that its astronauts have different kinds of nutritious foods, the low-gravity environment can still affect an astronaut’s body. Scott Kelly, a NASA astronaut who took part in the most in-depth study of the effects of long-term spaceflight after staying on board the ISS for 340 days, lost 7% of his body mass.
Eyesight
On Earth, gravity helps pull the blood in our bodies down, while the heart pumps it back up. But in space, this process is influenced. ____45____ Some of this fluid can pool at the back of the eye and around the optic nerve (视觉神经), causing edema (水肿). This can lead to changes in vision, such as decreased sharpness and structural changes in the eye itself.

B. It is necessary to have a healthy diet in space.
C. Similarly, astronauts’ bones begin to get weak and lose strength.
D. But their spacecraft experienced technical problems and had to return to Earth without them.

六、阅读与回答问题(本题共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
请认真阅读下面短文,并根据短文内容回答问题。
Worldwide, 8.1 million people are waiting for calls from strangers. Some of them consider themselves introverts (内向的). Some say they hate talking on the phone. But as volunteers for Be My Eyes, they all have a kind heart.
Be My Eyes was created in 2015 by Hans Jorgen Wiberg from Denmark. This free app connects blind people with sighted volunteers through video calls for help with everyday tasks. Wiberg used to worry about finding enough volunteers. But today volunteers outnumber blind users by ten to one.
It’s not easy for volunteers to get a call. Zhang Yanfei joined Be My Eyes in 2019 but didn’t receive her first call until four years later. Calls go out to many volunteers at the same time. If one doesn’t respond immediately, another volunteer will take the call.
He Yanyan, a stage actress, hesitated to join at first. She feared missing calls during rehearsals (排练). After learning that other volunteers would cover missed calls, she signed up at once. She received her first call the very next day. A young man nervously asked, “Can this app really help?” Feeling nervous herself, she realized the man was also new to the platform. She described the objects around him. The caller relaxed and asked if he looked tidy. After she told him that his clothes were spotless, the conversation continued for a few more rounds until the call was suddenly cut off. The volunteer wondered if she had sounded unfriendly.
Cao Zhenxiang was also nervous during his first call. After he helped an elderly man check the expiration date (有效期) on his bread, the two thanked each other repeatedly. “I was so nervous that I didn’t even know why I was thanking him,” he said.
Now, Cao feels much more confident. He recently helped a blind person cross the street while working on his computer. “It just felt like chatting with a friend,” he said.

On top of that, students are basically following pre-recorded lessons.

D
Ne Zha 2 is breaking box office records in China and around the world becoming the first Asian film to enter the top ten highest-grossing movies worldwide.
It focuses on the coming-of-age journey of the rebellious (叛逆) boy and explores common themes such as family bonds and responsibility.
38 Why do myths still have a connection to the modern world?

The muscles that are most affected are those that help us keep our posture (姿势), such as the back and neck. After just two weeks, muscle mass can decrease by 20%, and by as much as 30% during longer missions.
____43____ Astronauts can lose 1-2% of their bone mass per month spent in space and up to 10% over a six-month period. This can increase the risk of fractures (骨折) and the time it takes to recover. It can take up to four years for their bone mass to return to normal after they return to Earth.
A. Blood can build up in the head more than it normally would.
B. It is necessary to have a healthy diet in space.
C. Similarly, astronauts’ bones begin to get weak and lose strength.
D. But their spacecraft experienced technical problems and had to return to Earth without them.
E. Keeping a healthy weight is a challenge while in space.
F. Here are some of the effects.
