Chinese restaurants and Western restaurants are very different. One difference is in the menus.
In Western restaurants, the menus are usually very descriptive (描述性的) . They tell you what is in each dish. They also tell you how those dishes are cooked. For example, the menu may tell you that a salad has vegetables and beans. You can also know if (是否) a dish is fried (油炸) or steamed (蒸) .
▲ . But you can see a lot of pictures on them. Most Chinese restaurant menus usually have more pictures than Western restaurant menus. In some Western restaurants, the menus may not have any pictures.

Running should not be a dangerous activity. For your own safety, learn the following advice and try to be a good runner!
Take your time
If you are interested in running, you may want to run often. However, overdoing it can cause you to get hurt (受伤). It’s also important not to run too fast at the beginning. Run at a speed (速度) that feels comfortable (舒适的).
Take breaks
It is very important. Your body needs time to rest (休息) after hard runs. Running coach (教练) Sam Murphy says that if you run hard one day, you should take a break or do an easier run the next day. Some runners follow the 80/20 plan: 80% of their runs each week are easy, and only 20% are hard.
Have a strong body
According to Runner’s World, strength training (力量训练) is great for runners. It can help make your body stronger. It can even improve your speed. However, this doesn’t mean you need to do heavy-weight training. Simple exercises at home, like sit-ups, can be good too.
Have a good diet
Eating and drinking the right things is also important. “Many people forget this,” Dr. Paul Hobrough said. “Drink much water and eat foods like eggs, chicken and milk. These can help you to run better.”

At school, we must wear uniforms and can’t use phones in class. We have to arrive before 7:30 am, but we don’t have classes on weekends.
For sports, I usually play basketball after school—it’s my favorite! I sometimes run in the morning but seldom swim because I’m busy with homework. My eating habits are simple. I love dumplings! For breakfast, I eat bread and milk. Lunch is rice with vegetables at school, and dinner is noodles or soup at home.
I enjoy my daily life though it’s busy. It keeps me healthy and happy!

①As we all know, activities like listening to the birds or taking a walk in the park is good for our health. But some people think birdwatching is often boring.
②In fact, a study in 2024 shows that even half an hour of birdwatching could make us happier, healthier and help us get close to nature. Even hearing birds indoors through (通过) an open window can change our bad feelings. The study also shows that watching birds is better than taking a walk.
③So why is birdwatching so good for us? First, Biophilia (亲生物性) could be a big part of it. It means that humans have a good relationship (关系) with nature—some people think we should see ourselves as part of nature—so being in nature makes us feel good. Second, biodiversity (生物多样性) is important too. The study shows that biodiversity is a natural medicine (药) for humans. It can help us relax and do more activities.
④Another reason is that after carefully watching birds, we can get happiness and know a lot about them. The study also shows that noticing wildlife in nature can make us get closer to nature and learn more about it. So birdwatching can make us feel happy.
⑤So, take your binoculars (双筒望远镜) and walk into nature for birdwatching. It can help you relax and be happy. Enjoy every moment and have fun!
36. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Halt an hour of birdwatching is not helpful.
B. Taking a walk is better than watching birds.
C. Hearing birds inside the house can make us feel better.
D. Noticing wildlife in nature can’t make us learn more about it.
37 How many reasons why birdwatching is good for people are mentioned (提到) in the passage?
A. 1. B. 2. C. 3. D. 4.
38. What is the structure of the passage?
A. ①→②→③④→⑤ B. ①→②③④→⑤ C. ①②→③→④⑤ D. ①②③→④→⑤
