Memories of Christmas
Time What Happened to Granny and I
On Christmas morning We opened the presents. Granny called me over and gave me a special gift.
After breakfast David and I played outside, raced around the garden and rolled a big snowball for a snowman. Granny stayed inside by the fire.
At lunch We put on paper hats, had a turkey and Christmas pudding. Granny laughed.
A few weeks after that Christmas Granny passed away. I think of her often.
Now I make sugar biscuits each year.
Why didn’t Granny come outside to play with “me”?

Activity 5: Feel and Recite
Recite the last paragraph with proper feelings.
When I think about what makes Christmas so magical, it’s not just gifts and Father Christmas that come to mind. It’s also my memory of Granny. Now I’m the one who makes sugar biscuits each year, and I always make one in a G-shape—G for Granny.
Tips for Reciting:
Pay attention to the pronunciation, stress, intonation, rhythm and feelings.
