In February 2025, Beijing Children’s Hospital surprised many by using the country’s first AI doctor for kids. This was a difficult medical case. An 8-year-old boy suddenly became very ill. The doctors couldn’t explain why. They also found a tumour (肿瘤) in his head. Thirteen top experts tried hard to find the best treatment. At the same time, the AI quickly checked the boy’s health records and signs. It learned from lots of data (数据) from over 300 child doctors. In just a few minutes, it suggested an operation plan that matched what human doctors thought. What’s more, it could quickly find the newest medical studies, which helped to find the problem faster.
In Shandong, a parent worried when their child had a high temperature. They tried DeepSeek. After sharing blood test results, the AI said it was likely a germ infection (细菌感染) and advised medicine. Later, the hospital doctor gave the same medicine, even the amount (剂量) was the same.
Even in places with fewer medical tools, like small clinics (诊所) in Wuhan and country areas in Shandong. AI is helping. In Wuhan, hospitals now use AI to study CT photos in less than a minute. Before, it took hours. In country Shandong. AI systems help patients talk about their health problems, and even help disabled people move around hospitals.
These examples show two key things AI can do: help top doctors make better decisions and make healthcare easier for everyone. However, some still discuss its limits. As one doctor said, "AI gives ideas, but human care and thinking are still needed."

A.AI is only useful in big cities. B.AI helps patients in hospitals.
C.AI can make all medical tools. D.AI can work without the internet.

A.AI will replace human doctors completely. B.AI is useless without human thought.
C.AI provides ideas but needs human care. D.AI will solve all medical problems alone.
40.What is the main purpose of the article?
A.To discuss how AI doctors replace human doctors.

Huang Xuhua, chief designer of China’s first generation nuclear submarines (核潜艇), died on Thursday evening in Wuhan, Hubei province. Huang was given the Medal of the Republic, China’s highest honor, in 2019.
Born in March 1926 to a family of doctors in Guangdong province. After spending his boyhood in wartime, he joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University to study shipbuilding. There the young man learned about the communist revolution (共产主义革命) and joined the Communist Party of China in April 1949, right before his graduation. After receiving his bachelor’s diploma, Huang started his lifelong career in China’s shipbuilding industry. In 1958, Huang was selected to join the research team tasked with designing China’s first nuclear powered submarine.
At the beginning, Huang and his colleagues found that China lacked the basic conditions to develop such a sophisticated hardware technology (复杂的硬件技术). None of them had any knowledge in that field, and since other countries were extremely protective of such technology, they hardly had any technical reference materials.
Huang and his colleagues started by collecting newspapers and magazines for information, which was very difficult to find and was either too fragmented (碎片化的) or hard to tell whether it was true or false.
The team members didn’t have any computers or digital calculators, so they used abacuses and rulers to solve problems. Their work didn’t stop even from 1962 to 1965, when China was undergoing economic difficulties.
After years of painstaking (艰苦的) efforts, China finally built its first nuclear powered submarine—the first Type 091—in 1970, becoming the fifth nation to have such hardware.
Huang’s name remained classified until 1987 when a magazine in Shanghai was allowed to publish a report on him, which only disclosed his family name of Huang.
Even in his 90s, the designer used to visit his office every weekday morning to review and arrange materials of his know-how and experience, and would also give young researchers advice on technical issues (重要议题).
As young people, we should learn from the older generation of heroes like Huang.

Organic (有机的) gardeners use natural ways to keep their gardens healthy. Follow these steps to make your own organic garden.
Getting ready for Your Garden
First, mark out how large your garden will be with ropes or stones. Don’t make it too big. Next, dig up the soil. Take out large stones and weeds. Keep an eye out for earthworms. They dig tunnels in the soil, which allow air and water to reach a plant’s roots. Finally, mix in some compost (混合肥料). You can make your own compost by using leaves, grass and vegetables which are of no use.

Choose other plants with a special smell to drive pests away. For example, the garlic (大蒜) and cilantro (香菜叶) drive away the beetles, spider mites and white flies. Some plants attract insects that attack pests. Aphids (蚜虫) feed on the leaves of plants. In turn, insects such as ladybirds live on the aphids, keeping the plant pest free.
Taking Care of Your Garden
Weed your garden often. Remember to pull all the weeds out and not just the leaves. The weed will grow back again if some of the root is left behind.
Sometimes harmful insects attack even the best organic gardens. It is necessary to make natural sprays (喷雾) to drive those pests away.
36.How did AI help the boy in Beijing?
A.Invented a new medicine. B.Taught medical tools use.
C.Replaced the human doctors. D.Suggested an operation plan.
37.Why did the Shandong parent trust AI?
A.The AI was cheaper than hospitals. B.The doctor gave the same medicine.
C.The AI could make the child healthy again. D.The parent didn’t want to see a real doctor.
38.What does the example of Shandong villages tell us about Al?
A.AI is only useful in big cities. B.AI helps patients in hospitals.
C.AI can make all medical tools. D.AI can work without the internet.
39.What is the doctor’s opinion about AI in the last paragraph?
A.AI will replace human doctors completely. B.AI is useless without human thought.
C.AI provides ideas but needs human care. D.AI will solve all medical problems alone.
40.What is the main purpose of the article?
A.To discuss how AI doctors replace human doctors.
B.To describe AI’s changes to medical care in China.
C.To talk about the problems AI caused in hospitals.
D.To list all kinds of diseases treated by AI doctors.

41.Put the following events about Huang in the right order.
a. He joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
b. He joined the research team for nuclear submarine.
c. He graduated from the university.
d. He joined the Communist Party of China.
e. He started work in shipbuilding industry.

Planting Your Garden
Now that the soil is ready, you need to choose what to plant. If you are sowing seeds, use organic ones. If you are planting seedlings, choose organic plants that look strong and healthy. Make sure that the plants are not so close to each other. Therefore, they won’t be too crowded as they grow.
Spraying salt and warm water keeps caterpillars and cabbage worms away. Organic gardening is not only fun, but good for the planet as well. Growing vegetables is an enjoyable and useful activity.

It is 22 normal to have weight changes throughout the year. The key is that you intervene (干预) early if it continues growing over time. You can make an exercise plan, weigh 23 daily, or find a friend to keep you company. “It’s more important and useful to set small, slow and manageable 24 . The rise of AI doctors is no longer a story from future films. It’s really happening now. In different areas of China, we can clearly see how smart machines are bringing big changes to the medical field.

Spraying salt and warm water keeps caterpillars and cabbage worms away. Organic gardening is not only fun, but good for the planet as well. Growing vegetables is an enjoyable and useful activity.
