During the Spring Festival, “Ne Zha 2” became a really popular animated movie. The cinema attendance rate
was over 90%. When Ne Zha and Ao Bing fought hard against Infinite Immortal, the cool sound effects made me
feel like I was right there in the movie. Suddenly, I thought of a question: How did they make these great sounds?
Because I was curious, I went home and started looking for answers. Then I learned about the interesting world of
Foley artists.
The name “Foley” comes from Jack Foley. He did a lot for the art of sound effects. When sound effects were
first added to movies, he came up with a new way to make them. He recorded sounds on one track and added them
to the actions in the movie.
Foley artists are like sound magicians. They make movies more lively. Their workplaces look simple, but there
are lots of tools. They can use normal things to make great sound effects. For example, shaking an umbrella can
sound like a strong storm. Hitting two parts of a coconut can sound like a horse walking. Even though Foley artists
work behind the scenes, working with actors is very important. Jack Foley said, “You have to act out the scene.
You have to be like the actors and understand the story just like they do on the set. It makes a big difference.”
In general, paying attention to small things is very important for Foley artists. They also need to be able to
make sounds by themselves. This needs creativity and imagination. Getting the perfect sound takes a lot of tries. So,
being patient is also important. To make the sound of a character running in the mud, Foley artists have to try many
different things and keep changing how they step.
When I learned more, I was sad to find out that there are only about 100 Foley artists working around the
world. Foley work is great for movies, but there are so few artists now. Maybe it will become a dying art. But I'm
glad that with virtual reality getting better, Foley work might change. Next time you watch a movie, listen carefully
to the little sounds. They are like secret messages from Foley artists, telling us they are there.
24.Why did the author start to learn about Foley artists?
A. Because “Ne Zha 2” was very popular.
B. Because the sound effects in “Ne Zha 2” were cool.
C. Because the author wanted to become a Foley artist.
D. Because the author was curious about how movie sound effects were made.
高一英语试题 第 4页共 8页
25. What did Jack Foley do for the movie industry?
A. He found a new way to create sound effects for movies.
B. He invented new tools for Foley artists.
C. He trained many famous Foley artists.
D. He made the first animated movie.
26. What is very important for Foley artists according to the passage?
A. Being able to act in movies. B. Paying attention to small details.
C. Working alone without others’ help. D. Having a lot of money to buy tools.
27. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. Foley work will disappear soon.
B. There will be more Foley artists in the future.
C. Virtual reality will replace Foley artists completely.
D. Foley work may develop in a new way with virtual reality.

A new study reveals nearly a quarter of animals in rivers, lakes and other freshwater sources face extinction.
“Huge rivers like the Amazon can appear mighty, but freshwater environments are very fragile,” said study
co-author Patricia Charvet, a biologist. This study highlights the often-overlooked crisis in freshwater ecosystems,
which are very important for global biodiversity but frequently undervalued.
Freshwater habitats, including rivers, lakes, ponds and wetlands, cover less than 1% of the planet’s surface. Yet
they support 10% of its animal species, noted zoologist Catherine Sayer. These seemingly small habitats are active
centers of life, sheltering diverse species—from delicate aquatic insects to sizable fish. Their role in supporting
such a significant part of Earth’s animal life shows their ecological importance.
Researchers examined about 23,500 species relying only on freshwater ecosystems. They found 24% at risk of
extinction (classified as vulnerable, endangered or critically endangered). Compounding threats—pollution, dams,
water extraction, agriculture, invasive species and climate change—are responsible. Most species face various
threats acting together, not isolated issues. This marks the first global-scale analysis of risks to freshwater species;
previous studies mainly centered on land animals. Its comprehensive approach offers a vital, clear-eyed view of the
challenges these species face.
Stuart Pimm, an ecologist not involved in the study, praised it as “long-awaited and hugely important.” He
pointed out, “every big river in North America and Europe is greatly changed through damming. This puts
freshwater species at risk.” In contrast, South America’s Amazon ecosystem faces threats from deforestation,
wildfires, and illegal gold mining. Charvet noted illegal fires pollute rivers with ash, while unlicensed miners pour
mercury, illustrating how regional threats uniquely damage freshwater environments.
“Rivers and wetlands concentrate everything that happens around them,” Charvet said. A major incident like
an acid or oil spill can endanger an entire species, as they can go nowhere else. This highlights the extreme
weakness of these ecosystems. Protecting them demands urgent, united action, as their loss would cause
unchangeable biodiversity damage. Each threat—whether pollution or habitat destruction—makes the dangerous
state of freshwater species even worse, making conservation an immediate necessity.
28. Why does the author mention the Amazon River in the text?
A. To show its enormous size and power. B. To explain how dams have damaged it.
C. To highlight its weakness despite its size. D. To compare it with rivers in North America.
29. The word “compounding” in Paragraph 3 most likely means ______.
A. reducing B. combining C. ignoring D. solving
高一英语试题 第 5页共 8页
30. Why does the passage describe rivers and wetlands as “concentrating everything that happens around them”?
A. They are isolated from human influence.
B. They are able to clean themselves naturally.
C. They help weaken harmful substances in the environment.
D. They are highly sensitive to pollution and surrounding activities.
31. Which is the best title for the text?
A. Land Animals: Past and Present B. Amazon River: EcosystemAnalysis
C. Freshwater Species: Facing Extinction Risks D. Dam Construction: Advantages and Disadvantages

As technology develops, existing payment security methods face new problems. And for these problems,
traditional security methods are no longer enough. It is for this reason that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is getting
noticed as a powerful tool to improve payment security.
From AI-based fraud (诈骗) detection systems to AI-powered biometric authentication (生物识别认证), AI
can change payment security. Because biometric features like fingerprints, facial recognition, and voice recognition
are unique to each person, they are extremely reliable for checking identity. Artificial intelligence systems can use
this data to check whether it is the user himself who is operating. Besides, AI can judge the risk level of a deal by
analyzing contextual data, such as device information, the location, and trading frequency. For example, if a
consumer buys a large number of things that are not like what he usually buys, the AI system can raise an alarm for
probable fraud.
However, we must keep in mind that AI is not without limitations. AI algorithms (算法 ) operate based on
patterns and connections within vast datasets, but they don’t fully understand the context like human intelligence
does. This limitation puts AI systems at risk of certain types of advanced attacks and new fraud techniques that may
not be found.
Therefore, human involvement is essential to the successful operation of AI algorithms, providing contextual
understanding, risk judgment, and adaptability to new threats. Without human participation, AI systems may have
trouble finding and dealing with new threats effectively. Human experts have the ability to understand the hidden
intentions, motivations, and small differences in cybercriminal activities, enabling them to adopt (采取) security
measures in time and actively prevent new attack carriers.
In conclusion, AI can surely be a turning point in payment security. However, for the successful use of AI in
payment security, risk prevention, teamwork, and industry-wide adoption are very important. As long as these
problems are taken seriously and solved properly, we can look forward to a safer and more reliable digital payment
ecosystem.
32. How does AI help secure payment in the example in paragraph 2?
A. By tracking the flow of funds closely. B. By analyzing the customer’s spending habits.
C. By referring to the user’s biometric information. D. By requiring the customer to check the deal.
33. What is mentioned as a limitation of AI in payment security?
A. It lacks contextual understanding compared to humans.
B. It only works with specific types of payment methods.
C. It is too expensive for widespread adoption.
D. It cannot process large datasets quickly.
34. What does the author intend to show in paragraph 4?
A. Humans are more reliable than AI in securing payment.
B. Existing AI-based payment systems are of limited use.
C. Human involvement matters to AI-supported payment.
D. AI payment technologies need constant improvement.
高一英语试题 第 6页共 8页
35. What is the author’s overall attitude toward the use of AI in payment security?
A. Doubtful and critical. B. Optimistic but cautious.
C. Indifferent and neutral. D. Strongly opposed.

THE FACE-DOWN GENERATION
If you’re reading this, you were probably born in the 2000s, the 21st century. That would make you young,
creative, connected, global, and no doubt smart. Maybe good-looking, too. Right? 36
Some adults worry that you’re more interested in the screen in front of you than the world around you. They
think of you as the “face-down generation” because you use your phone so much. 37 Are today’s teenagers too
busy texting and taking selfies to become successful in real life—or “IRL”, as you would say?
38 Many children born in the 1990s and 2000s were raised by “helicopter parents” who were always
there to guide and plan everything for them. 39 With parents who do everything for them, today’s youth
seem to prefer to live like teenagers even when they are in their 20s or 30s.
Does the face-down generation need a heads-up? Well, probably not. The fact is that many of today’s teenagers
are better educated and more creative than past generations. They also seem to be enthusiastic (热情的) and willing
to become leaders. 40 There are also brave young people such as Malala Yousafzai, the teenager who won
the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for pushing girls’ rights to go to school.
If you are one of the face-down generation, there’s reason to be hopeful about the future. Chances are that you
will do great and laugh out loud.
A. Moreover, how do you think of the digital world?
B. But what do other people think about your generation?
C. Children are free to play computer games on weekends.
D. They wonder how you will deal with school, friends, and family.
E. They are scheduled with homework and extra-curricular activities every day.
F. Others think that today’s youth don’t want to face the challenges of adult life.
G. An increasing number of young individuals volunteer to contribute to their communities.

For the past ten years, my dad and I have attended the same school—he as an administrator(行政人员)and I
as a student. Our relationship, in and out of school, has been a wild, unpredictable ride.
When I was younger, all that my dad said was doctrine(信条)and anything he did, I naturally copied. I was his
little shadow, imitating his every move. We played games together, and stayed up late reading bedtime stories. They
were some of the best times. I could count on my dad taking me to school, running into him regularly during the
day and riding home with him every afternoon.
As the years ticked by, I hit my pre-teen years. Things started to change. Suddenly, my dad wasn’t the cool guy
I once thought he was. He wore his socks too high, listened to horrible country music and laughed too loudly in
front of my friends. How embarrassing it was! However, the disasters that occurred in school were even worse. The
worst one happened in seventh grade. Our class was having a New Year party, and there he was, dressed up as
Donald Duck. With a guitar in hand, he sang the most ridiculous song. Just kill me! I just wanted the ground to
open up and swallow me whole. So I ran away as fast as my legs could carry me.
This struggle continued well into high school. But then, something unexpected happened. It was around the
time of my 10th-grade physics project. The assignment was to construct a wooden bridge that had the best
strength-to-weight ratio(比率). All the students and physics teachers participated.

第一节(满分15分)
Dear Peter,
How is everything going? I’m writing to celebrate World Reading Day, which falls on April 23rd. Books have been a constant source of inspiration, guiding me through life’s challenges, and now I’d love to share my latest read with you.
Recently, I have finished “The Little Prince”, a classic tale about friendship and human nature. What impressed me most was the line, “What is essential is invisible to the eye.” It inspired me to reflect on life’s true values. I highly recommend it!
By the way, have you read any meaningful books lately? I’m eager to hear your thoughts. Let’s exchange more book recommendations! Looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节(满分25分)
Version 1:
So did my dad, the only administrator! Instantly, that familiar feeling of embarrassment washed over me, and as usual, I fled the scene. But later that day, a classmate approached me, eyes wide with excitement. “Your dad is amazing!” he exclaimed. “You should have seen his bridge design. It's so clever and sturdy.” Curiosity getting the better of me, I decided to find my dad. I found him in his office, looking over some papers. When he saw me, he smiled gently. “I know I might have embarrassed you today,” he said softly. “But I just wanted to be a part of your school life, to understand what you're going through.” I was taken aback. I had never considered his intentions before.
He’d won, and I gradually learned to appreciate something in my head. From that day on, I started to see my dad in a new light. I noticed how hard he worked at school, not only for his job but also for me. I realized that his quirks were just part of who he was, and they didn't make him any less of a great dad. Whenever I saw him around school, instead of feeling embarrassed, I felt a sense of pride. Our relationship, once strained, was now stronger than ever, built on a new foundation of understanding and respect.
Version 2:
So did my dad, the only administrator! So did my dad, the only administrator! He seemed extremely enthusiastic about this project, spending hours in his workshop, sawing and hammering away. When the day of the competition arrived, I was secretly praying that he wouldn’t make a fool of himself again. To my surprise, his bridge was not only incredibly well-built but also a masterpiece of engineering. It withstood the weight test with ease, while many students’ bridges collapsed. Everyone in the school was amazed, especially me. I watched in awe as my dad explained the scientific principles behind his creation to the applauding crowd.
He’d won, and I gradually learned to appreciate something in my head. I realized that my dad was not just the embarrassing figure I had thought him to be in my pre-teen and early high school years. He was intelligent, creative and passionate about what he did. His performance in the physics project made me see him in a new light. I began to understand that his quirks were part of his charm. From then on, I no longer felt ashamed of him. Instead, I was proud to call him my dad. Our relationship started to mend, and we once again found common ground, both in and out of school.

M: Well, ⑦I did go to Florida with my brother last summer, but I haven’t been to Hawaii up to now. Maybe I will go there next year.

M: Hey, Carol, I hear you may get that new job.
W: Yeah, they’re going to call me. There’re still a couple of problems, though.
M: Really? What problems?
W: Well, the job is in Vancouver. My closest friend lives there, but I’m not sure I want to move. Also, the position may be better, ⑧but the money is the same. I really don’t know what to do.
M: Well, don’t accept the offer right away. You should make a list of all the good and bad things about your new job. You should also talk to your boss and tell her that you need a pay raise. You’ll have more work to do, after all.
W: What do you think about the move?
M: ⑨Take a trip to Vancouver. See if you like it.

M: What happened to you? ⑩Why do you have a band aid on your finger?
W: I hurt myself in the kitchen.
M: What happened?
W: ⑩I cut myself when I was slicing vegetables.
M: Really?
W: Yeah. I was cutting up vegetables to put in the salad for dinner while Timmy was playing with a toy on the kitchen floor. ⑪Suddenly Timmy started crying. I looked up quickly and noticed that he burned himself on the stove. The noise distracted me and I accidentally cut myself.
M: That’s too bad. Is Timmy OK?
W: Yeah. He’s fine now. What happened to your foot? Why are you difficult in walking?
M: I hurt myself today too. I lost my balance at work and fell down. I hurt my legs.
W: ⑫We need to be more careful. We’re a clumsy family.

W: Jack, what was your most memorable day in the past year?
M: ⑬The most memorable day was probably when my whole class went to Golden Corral to eat buffet. It was really fun and everyone stuffed their faces in food. Everyone had a good time.
W: What food did you like best there?
M: The cheesecake desserts covered with strawberries and ice cream were my favorites. I had a lot of them.
W: ⑭Jack, don’t you think you eat too much ice cream? Look at you. You’ve been putting on weight fast recently.
M: I guess you’re right. ⑮I weighed about 110 pounds about half a year ago, but yesterday when I weighed again I found my weight had reached 125 pounds. I think I really should stop eating so much ice cream. So what’s your most unforgettable experience in the past year?
W: Well, my most memorable day was when my mom, my brother and I went to the beach.
M: What did you do there?
W: ⑯We didn’t go into the water or do anything; we just danced, took pictures, laughed and lay in the sand. You know, my mom is usually very busy with her work. We don’t spend much quality time together as a family.
M: Now I know why it’s so unforgettable for you.

W: Good morning, everyone. I’d like to welcome you to the new computer course. ⑳Today we’ll be going on a guided tour of the computer department. But first, I’d like to tell you the basic facts about your course. We will have lessons at this time on Wednesdays and Fridays, ⑰with special lectures at weekends. Sometimes, you will have some homework to do. You are expected to come to all classes, so you will need a medical certificate or written explanation for any days you are absent. There will be a test once a month. ⑱We will publish your marks on our website, unless you do not accept this. In this case, we’ll send you a letter. Now, perhaps most important of all, you will probably want free access to the computers, so that you can do your own work and prepare for tests. This is fine, ⑲but you must have a personal identity card. The price is 20 pounds, but you can get this money back if there is no damage to the equipment during the year. ⑳Well, it’s time for the tour now, so I’ll answer any questions you have later.
