The teacher explained in detail how to do a better writing __________ on errors __________ from students’ homework. A. based; collected B. basing; being collected C. based; to be collected D. based; having been collected 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】考查非谓语动词和时态语态。 A。 2. It was not until __________ scolded by the manager __________ he realized the terrible situation into which he put his whole team. A. was he; when B. he was; when C. was he; that D. he was; that 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】考查状语从句和强调句。 D。 3. __________ on the desk, she finally had a chance to make herself __________ clearly. That was when the crowd started to listen to her. A. Standing; seen B. Standing; see C. To stand; seen D. To stand; see 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】考查非谓语动词。 A。 4. With his job as Chief Executive Officer __________, he finally moved into the office __________ the whole city could be seen. A. to secure; from where B. securing; from which C. secured; from which D. to secure; where 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】考查非谓语动词和定语从句。 5. The tablet (石板) , __________ in Jindong Village, __________ 1.4 meters high, 0.61 meters wide, and 0.14 meters thick. A. was discovered; measured B. discovered; was measured C. was discovered; measuring D. discovered; measures 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】考查动词。 D。 6. Ridiculous __________ the fact may seem, it is what we invest in __________ determines what we will accomplish __________ we grow up. A. though; that; if B. though; which; if C. as; that; as D. as; which; as 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】考查倒装句、主语从句和时间状语从句。 在“it is what we invest in __________ determines what we will accomplish”中,被强调部分是“what we invest in”,所以这里应该用“that” 构成强调句结构。 “as we grow up”意思是“随着我们长大”,符合语境。故选C项。 7. A __________ look could be noticed on the boy's face __________ that it was hard to work out the maths problem. A. confused; suggesting B. confusing; suggesting C. confusing; suggested D. confused; suggested 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】考查形容词和非谓语动词。 故选A项。 8. The scientists, __________ to __________ Mars, found no sign of life there. A. committing; exploring B. committing; explore C. committed; explore D. committed; exploring 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】考查非谓语动词。 D。 9. __________ with running, you will find it more fun __________, especially when __________ with the heat waves of summer. A. Compared; to swim; faced B. Comparing; swimming; faced C. Compared; swimming; facing D. Comparing; to swim; facing 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】考查非谓语动词。 是固定结构,其中it为形式宾语,不定式短语作真正宾语,所以此处使用to swim;第三空为时间状语从句中的省略,根据“be faced with”意为“面对”可知,此处用过去分词 faced 作状语,此处完整结构为“when you are faced with the heat waves of summer”。故选A。 10. The evidence __________ by the defence lawyer was so pointless __________ anyone who had the least legal knowledge could not easily fall for it. A. provided; that B. providing; that C. provided; as D. providing; as 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】考查非谓语动词和状语从句。 as 通常用于“such…as”或“so…as”结构中,但在这个句子中,它不符合语法结构。故选A。 A Suite Heaven Enjoy free nights in our hotel Booking period: July 1st, 2025 — September 30th, 2025 Stay period: October 1st, 2025 — February 28th, 2026 Offer Details Start a wonderful journey with our “Suite Heaven” promotion at Center Hotels across Thailand, Asia and the Middle East. A small still life in an unnoticeable gallery commanded the Finnish physician’s attention. “It was not an eye-catching oil painting, yet its dark, mysterious colors and the emotional tension of its disciplined composition set it apart.” Thus began a long journey of discovering the art and life of Van Den, a Buddhist of mixed Chinese and Vietnamese ancestry who studied in Paris for less than two years during the first French Indochina War. Murros’ biography is, by necessity, brief because there is limited knowledge of the artist, mostly in oral way by family and friends. Many of his paintings did not survive the damp Southeast Asian climate nor the political chaos of his lifetime. However, the author’s research appears to be extensive, as much a years-long spiritual examination of Van Den as a historical one. The artist’s love for country life is apparent in his work, and it is said by those who knew him that he preferred to paint countryside scenes close to his heart and worked as an outsider. He is uninterested in the more elegant work of academically recognized painters. Despite these limitations, Van Den won Vietnam’s most honorable art award in 1960. Murros gives an in-depth look into the life of this little-known unsung master. The book introduces the readers to Van Den’s art with photographs of his paintings, accompanied by short stories behind them. The book is as quiet as the artist’s work, but it is a satisfying read. Each stroke of words in the book connects to the readers; the narrative awakens the artistic spirit in each one of us, encouraging us to follow our heart. 14. What of Van Den first impressed Juhani Murros? A. His life story. B. His painting style. C. His birth place. D. His emotional stale. 15. What can we learn about Van Den? A. His works are rarely available today. B. He showed great love for his country. C. He works were of mysterious themes. D. He ever travelled in China and Vietnam. 16. Why is Murros’ biography brief? A. Van Den’s art wasn’t well accepted. B. Murros had limited knowledge of art. C. Murros had gained little primary data. D. Van Den’s family kept everything back. 17. Which of the following can describe this book? A. Amusing. B. Detailed. C. Objective. D. Inspirational. B 15. A 16. C 17. 根据第二段“It was not an eye-catching oil painting, yet its dark, mysterious colors and the emotional tension of its disciplined composition set it apart(那并非一幅引人注目的油画,但其深邃而神秘的色彩,以及严谨构图中所蕴含的情感张力,却使其与众不同。)” 根据第三段“Murros’ biography is, by necessity, brief because there is limited knowledge of the artist, mostly in oral way by family and friends. Many of his paintings did not survive the damp Southeast Asian climate nor the political chaos of his lifetime.( Murros的传记之所以简短,是因为关于这位艺术家的信息非常有限,主要是通过家庭成员和朋友口口相传的方式获得的。 根据第三段“Murros’ biography is, by necessity, brief because there is limited knowledge of the artist, mostly in oral way by family and friends. 根据最后一段“The book is as quiet as the artist’s work, but it is a satisfying read. Each stroke of words in the book connects to the readers; the narrative awakens the artistic spirit in each one of us, encouraging us to follow our heart.(这本书像艺术家的作品一样静谧,但读起来却让人心满意足。 C “Nearly 2.5 billion people worldwide will be living with some degree of hearing loss by 2050. At least 700 million of those people will require access to ear and hearing care and other rehabilitation (康复) services unless action is taken. Untreated hearing loss can have a destructive impact on people’s ability to communicate, to study and to earn a living. It can also impact on people’s mental health and their ability to maintain relationships,” said Dr Tedros, WHO Director-General. The report, launched ahead of World Hearing Day on 3 March, stressed the need to rapidly step up efforts to prevent and solve hearing loss by investing (投资) and expanding access to ear and hearing care services. Investment in ear and hearing care has been shown to be worth it. Lack of accurate information about ear diseases and hearing loss often keeps people from accessing care for these conditions. Even among health-care providers, there’s often a lack of knowledge about prevention, early identification and management of hearing loss and ear diseases, preventing their ability to provide the care required. In children, almost 60%of hearing loss can be prevented through measures, such as immunization (免疫接种) for prevention and early management. , In adults, noise control and safe listening together with good ear health can help maintain good hearing and reduce the potential for hearing loss. Identification is the first step in dealing with hearing loss. Clinical screening at strategic points in life ensures that any loss of hearing and ear diseases can be identified as early as possible. Once checked, early prevention is the key. Medical and surgical treatment can cure most ear diseases, potentially reversing (逆转) the associated hearing loss. However, where hearing loss is irreversible, rehabilitation can ensure that those affected avoid the negative effects of hearing loss. 18. What can we learn from Dr Tedros’ words? A. Hearing loss only influences people’s physical health. B. Nearly 2.5 billion people are suffering from hearing loss. C. Untreated hearing loss can affect people’s daily life seriously. D. Nearly 700 million people can have access to hearing care now. 19. Why are health-care providers mentioned in paragraph 3? A. To stress the importance of doctors and nurses. B. To show the absence of awareness about prevention. C. To call on people to respect them. D. To introduce the topic of hearing loss. 20. What can be concluded from the last two paragraphs? A. Rehabilitation services can reverse hearing loss. B. Most hearing loss in children can be cured. C. It is important to prevent hearing loss and ear diseases early. D. Few ear diseases can be cured by medical and surgical treatment. 21. What’s the best title of the text? A. WHO Invests More in Hearing Loss B. Hearing Loss Prevention Counts C. Be Aware of the Impact of Hearing Loss D. Children Suffer Hearing Loss 【答案】18. C 19. B 20. C 21. 由文章第一段中“Untreated hearing loss can have a destructive impact on people’s ability to communicate, to study and to earn a living. It can also impact on people’s mental health and their ability to maintain relationships,” said Dr Tedros, WHO Director-General. 由文章第三段中“Even among health-care providers, there’s often a lack of knowledge about prevention, early identification and management of hearing loss and ear diseases, preventing their ability to provide the care required. 由文章倒数第二段“In children, almost 60%of hearing loss can be prevented through measures, such as immunization (免疫接种) for prevention and early management. , In adults, noise control and safe listening together with good ear health can help maintain good hearing and reduce the potential for hearing loss. 和最后一段“Identification is the first step in dealing with hearing loss. 通读全文,尤其是由文章最后一段“Identification is the first step in dealing with hearing loss. B。 D Is forgiveness against our human nature? To answer our question, we need to ask a further question: What is the essence of our humanity? For the sake of simplicity, people consider two distinctly different views of humanity. The first view involves dominance and power. In an early paper on the psychology of forgiveness, Droll (1984) made the interesting claim that humans’ essential nature is more aggressive than forgiving allows. Those who forgive are against their basic nature, much to their harm. In his opinion, forgivers are compromising their well-being as they offer mercy to others, who might then take advantage of them. The second view involves the theme of cooperation, mutual respect, and even love as the basis of who we are as humans. Researchers find that to fully grow as human beings, we need both to receive love from and offer love to others. Without love, our connections with a wide range of individuals in our lives can fall apart. Even common sense strongly suggests that the will to power over others does not make for harmonious interactions. For example, how well has slavery worked as a mode of social harmony? From this second viewpoint of who we are as humans, forgiveness plays a key role in the biological and psychological integrity of both individuals and communities because one of the outcomes of forgiveness, shown through scientific studies, is the decreasing of hate and the restoration of harmony. Forgiveness can break the cycle of anger. At least to the extent the people from whom you are estranged (不和的) accept your love and forgiveness and are prepared to make the required adjustments. Forgiveness can heal relationships and reconnect people. As an important note, when we take a classical philosophical perspective, we see the distinction between potentiality and actuality. We are not necessarily born with the capacity to forgive, but instead with the potential to learn about it and to grow in our ability to forgive. The actuality of forgiving, in real situations, develops with practice. 22. What is Droll’s idea about forgiveness? A. People should offer mercy to others. B. Aggressive people should learn to forgive. C. Forgiveness depends on the nature of humanity. D. People who forgive can have their own welfare affected. 23. What does the example in Paragraph 3 illustrate? A. To fight is to grow. B. To give is to receive. C. To forgive is to abuse. D. To dominate is to harm. 24. What is the writer’s attitude toward forgiveness? A. Favorable. B. Reserved. C. Objective. D. Skeptical. 25. What message does the last paragraph convey? A. Forgiveness is in our nature. B. Forgiveness grows with time. C. It takes practice to forgive. D. Actuality is based on potentiality. D 23. D 24. A 25. 根据第二段中“Those who forgive are against their basic nature, much to their harm. In his opinion, forgivers are compromising their well-being as they offer mercy to others, who might then take advantage of them.(那些宽恕的人违背了他们的本性,对他们造成了很大的伤害。 根据文章第三段中“Without love, our connections with a wide range of individuals in our lives can fall apart. Even common sense strongly suggests that the will to power over others does not make for harmonious interactions.(没有爱,我们与生活中各种各样的人的联系就会破裂。 可知,没有爱,我们与他人的联系就会破裂,控制他人的意愿并不会促成和谐的互动;结合下文“For example, how well has slavery worked as a mode of social harmony?(例如,奴隶制作为社会和谐的一种模式发挥了多大的作用?)” 根据文章第三段“We are not necessarily born with the capacity to forgive, but instead with the potential to learn about it and to grow in our ability to forgive.(我们不一定天生就有宽恕的能力,但我们有潜力去学习宽恕,并在宽恕的能力中成长)”可知,作者对于宽恕持支持的态度。故选A。 根据文章最后一段“As an important note, when we take a classical philosophical perspective, we see the distinction between potentiality and actuality. We are not necessarily born with the capacity to forgive, but instead with the potential to learn about it and to grow in our ability to forgive. The actuality of forgiving, in real situations, develops with practice.(值得注意是,当我们从古典哲学的角度来看,我们看到了潜能和现实性之间的区别。 You are well aware that you truly desire to achieve good grades. B “By removing needless details in pursuit of perfection, Van Den followed in the footsteps of many great artists, writers, composers, and painters.” Juhani Murros made an unexpected discovery during his visits to art galleries when he worked for an organization in Ho Chi Minh City in 1990. C “Nearly 2.5 billion people worldwide will be living with some degree of hearing loss by 2050. D Nearly 700 million people can have access to hearing care now. Children Suffer Hearing Loss D Is forgiveness against our human nature? You are well aware that you truly desire to achieve good grades.
