In Chinese culture, the snake is an important role, but its symbolic (象征性的) meanings have changed over time.
In the mythic (神话的) geography book Classic of Mountains and Seas (《山海经》), many gods are shown holding snakes, hanging them around their ears, or having the body of a snake as a mark of their special abilities.
As snakes are often found in underground caves, they are often believed to be connected to the dead, who are buried underground, according to Han Ding, an associate professor of archaeology at Henan University. Pieces of pottery found in an old city from the early Shang Dynasty (around 16th~11th century BC), which is now Zhengzhou, have pictures of a human head inside the mouths of snakes. Han added that by placing a human head within the mouths of snakes, people performed a ceremonial (仪式上的) death, allowing communication with their ancestors in the afterlife.
From the Shang Dynasty at the latest, people thought the universe was organized in levels, with gods in heaven, humans on earth and the underworld as the land of the dead. People wanted to go beyond these limits and show respect for their ancestors, so they believed the snake had the qualities they were looking for. They observed the snake digging from the earth into the underworld and considered it as a bridge between the living, the dead and the gods.
During the Han Dynasty (206 BC~AD 220), snakes were often seen in designs connected to xuanwu, a mythical creature from Chinese stories that looks like a mix of a snake and a tortoise. In later dynasties, snakes appeared less often in cultural relics but remained one of the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac (生肖).
Having lived on earth for more than 100 million years, the snake has always been part of Chinese culture and life. “Changing from the Neolithic era (新石器时代), snakes served as bridges between humans and gods and finally became a zodiac symbol for the common folk. The cultural significance tied to snakes has only grown richer, continuing into modern times,” said Wang Fang, deputy director of the Jinsha Site Museum in Chengdu.
1.Why are snakes often connected to the dead in Chinese culture, according to Han Ding?
A.Snakes are believed to carry the souls of the dead. B.Snakes are buried alongside the dead.
C.Snakes live in underground caves. D.Snakes are seen as dangerous creatures.
2.How did people in the Shang Dynasty view snakes?
A.As protectors of the underworld. B.As creatures with special powers.
C.As symbols of their ancestors. D.As bridges between different worlds.
3.What is Wang Fang’s view on the future of the snake’s cultural importance?
A.Worried. B.Hopeful. C.Doubtful. D.Uncertain.

Sophia is a human-like robot developed by Hanson Robotics, a company based in Hong Kong. Designed to look and act like a human, Sophia has a lifelike face, smooth skin, and expressive eyes that can show emotions such as joy, sadness, or curiosity. She can hold conversations, answer questions, and even tell jokes using advanced artificial intelligence (AI).
One of Sophia’s key features (特点) is her ability to recognize (辨别) faces. Her eyes have cameras that help her “see” people and remember their appearances. For example, if you meet her twice, she might say, “Nice to see you again!” This skill allows her to interact naturally with humans. Sophia’s creators aim for her to help people in different fields. She has worked in hospitals to support doctors by guiding patients, appeared in TV shows, and even made a speech at the United Nations about the role of robots in society.
Sophia’s AI system learns from experience. Although she sometimes makes mistakes, her knowledge grows over time. In 2017, Saudi Arabia made history by giving her citizenship, making her the first robot to receive such a status. This event caused global discussions about the future of robots and humans.
Some people worry that robots like Sophia might take over human jobs. However, Hanson Robotics explains that their goal is to create robots that work with humans, not replace them. For example, robots can do repetitive tasks in factories and companies, while humans focus on creative work. Sophia’s team also believes robots could help in education, teaching students languages or science in fun ways.
Today, Sophia continues to improve. She can now speak over 20 languages and even create art! While she is still learning, her existence shows how quickly digital evolution (数字进化) is advancing. Scientists predict that in the future, robots like Sophia might become common helpers in homes, schools, and offices.
Sophia reminds us that robots are not just machines—they could be our partners in building a better world.

A long time ago, the world was very cold. Ice covered most of the land. This cold time lasted millions of years and was called an ice age. The last ice age ended around 10, 000 years ago. The Earth slowly warmed up and much of the ice melted (融化).
Sometimes, a big chunk of ice breaks off from an ice shelf. It falls into the ocean and floats away. This is an iceberg. An iceberg may look small, but in fact, it is very big. Only a small part of it can be seen above the water. Most of the iceberg is underwater, out of sight. Between one-seventh and one-tenth of an iceberg can be seen above the water. This makes it dangerous to shipping.
In March 2000, an iceberg named B-15 broke away from an ice shelf in Antarctica. It was 295 kilometres long and covered an area six times the size of Greater London. Smaller parts of B-15 were still being tracked after it broke away from the ice shelf. Those parts have since melted as the icebergs moved into warmer water.
Icebergs can be very dangerous. In 1912, a large passenger ship called the Titanic was sailing from England to New York when it hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean. It sank to the bottom of the ocean and 1, 500 people lost their life.
Today, scientists mainly use radar and satellite pictures to track the paths of icebergs. Sometimes ships such as this icebreaker work with helicopters (直升机) or drones on iceberg patrols. They make sure that there are no icebergs around that can endanger passing ships. Helicopters fly out over the sea and locate all the icebergs they can find. As an iceberg floats along, the wind and the weather can carve the ice into strange shapes.
Icebergs are made of fresh water. Some scientists believe that one day it will be possible to make use of them to get drinking water for dry parts of the world. If all the ice on Earth melted, the sea level would rise by about six metres. If there was another ice age, more water would freeze and the sea level would fall.
At the moment, sea levels are rising at about three millimetres every year. This is believed to be because of the warming of the Earth's climate. Melting ice and rising sea levels also affect areas far away from the frozen regions.
1.What does the underlined word “carve” mean in this passage?
A.Cut. B.Mix. C.Melt. D.Break.
2.The following sentence can best be put at the beginning of ________.
Some icebergs, especially in the Antarctic, can be very huge.
A.Paragraph 2 B.Paragraph 3 C.Paragraph 4 D.Paragraph 5
3.The writer mentioned Titanic ________.
A.to explain what icebergs are made of B.to tell where icebergs can be found
C.to show how dangerous icebergs are D.to guess why icebergs are in strange shapes
4.What can we learn about icebergs?
A.Most parts of the iceberg can be seen easily.
B.The sea level would fall a lot if the icebergs on Earth melt.
C.It is easy for people to get drinking water from icebergs now.
D.Scientists have some ways to help ships keep away from icebergs.

Waiting in line, sitting in the middle seat, experiencing delays-there’s a long list of unpleasant things about flying on planes. And here’s another one that worries us a lot: getting blocked (堵住的) ears. It’s also sometimes called “airplane ear”. But why do we get it?
It happens because of changes in air pressure. When a plane takes off and moves higher, the air pressure outside our ears goes down quickly because the air is thinner at higher altitudes. However, there is still air from ground level inside our ears. This air is thicker and at a higher pressure. So there is a difference in pressure between the air inside our ears and outside our ears.
This difference in air pressure causes the air inside our ears to push against the eardrum (耳膜), because air moves from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure. The air pushing against the eardrum makes our ears feel blocked and uncomfortable. When the air comes out, our ears “pop”. Some people really don’t like this feeling, either.
Drinking water, swallowing, yawning (打哈欠) or eating hard sweets can help to clear our ears. The air inside our ears is in the Eustachian tube (咽鼓管), which connects the middle ear to the back of the nose and throat. Swallowing helps encourage this tube to open a little wider, which helps let out the air inside our ears.
However, swallowing and yawning don’t always work. Our ears sometimes stay blocked for longer, which may hurt. If your ears take a really long time to clear even when you get off the plane, you may need to see a doctor.
1.What does “it” in Paragraph 1 refer to?
A.Waiting in line. B.Getting blocked ears.
C.Experiencing delays. D.Sitting in the middle seat.
2.Why do our ears get blocked when flying?
A.Because of changes in air pressure. B.Because of the wrong eardrum.
C.Because of drinking much water. D.Because of eating hard sweets.
3.How can swallowing help to clear our blocked ears?
A.By encouraging the eardrum become stronger. B.By making the air pressure outside our ears lower.
C.By encouraging the Eustachian tube to open wider. D.By making the air pressure inside our ears higher.
4.What’s the best title of this passage?
A.Airplane Food: Choices and Reviews B.Airplane Ear: Reasons and tips
C.Airplane safety: Risks and Prevention D.Airplane Noise: Causes and tips

The old English saying “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink” has been used since the 16th century to describe the difficulty of getting someone to act in their own best interests. But now, a new study suggests the use of this saying has been undervaluing horses for centuries.
Horses have the ability to think and plan ahead and are far cleverer than scientists thought before, according to a Nottingham Trent University study that analyzed the animal’s replies to a reward-based game. “Before, research has suggested that horses simply reply to stimuli (刺激) in the moment, and that they don’t voluntarily look ahead, think ahead and plan their actions—however, our study shows that they do have an awareness of the results and outcomes (结果) of their actions.” said the lead researcher, Louise Evans.
The three-stage game included 20 horses, who were rewarded with a treat just for touching a piece of card with their noses in the beginning. Then in the second stage, researchers started turning on a “stop light”. The horses were only given a snack if they touched the card while the stop light was off. At first, they took no notice of the light and carried on touching the card, paying no attention to whether or not the light was on. But then, in the third stage, researchers introduced a penalty for touching the card while the stop light was on - a 10-second break during which the horses could not play the game at all. The team found there was a sudden and huge reduction in mistakes by all the members. The horses started correctly touching the card only at the right time to get a treat. “That break was enough to quickly get the performance out of them that we wanted.” said Evans. “That was enough for the horses to go: ‘OK, let’s just play by the rules.’”
The study suggests that, rather than fail to catch the soul of the game, horses understood the rules in a short time. Evans hopes this pioneering study will help to improve welfare for horses. In training, you really don’t need to use anything too strict to get really good performance out of horses.
1.How does the writer lead to the topic of the passage?
A.By explaining the reasons of a study. B.By listing some meanings of a saying.
C.By introducing the history of a study. D.By pointing out the misuse of a saying.
2.Which word has the closest meaning to “penalty”?
A.punishment B.partner C.reward D.record
3.The reward-based game shows that ________.
A.the 10-second stop was long enough for horses to break the rules
B.horses got a treat when they touched the card with the stop light on
C.all the horses improved quickly and made fewer mistakes in the third stage
D.researchers left horses out of the game for touching the card at the wrong time
4.What’s the purpose of the passage?
A.To prove horses are clever. B.To call for better conditions for horses.
C.To argue against an old saying. D.To introduce methods of studying horses.

The USA has long been the strongest force in the global (全球的) race for artificial intelligence (AI). However, DeepSeek-R1, a new AI model developed by a Chinese company DeepSeek, has rocked the world because of its strong abilities of solving problems and lower cost.
Since DeepSeek can deal with different problems, let’s ask it some questions about itself.
How do you actually “learn” things?
Think of me as a super-focused student! I look at a lot of data—like billions of books, articles, or chat logs—to spot patterns. My designers keep updating (更新) the data. My “learning” is limited to the data. I’m different to humans in that I do not “understand” ideas through feelings; I predict how things are connected using math.
Can you create art or music?
Interestedly enough, Yes! I create art by mixing styles I have “studied”. Take music as an example. I can make music by studying chord progressions (和弦进行) from different types of songs. But here’s the catch: I can’t “feel” the joy of creating—it’s all pattern-matching. That’s why it’s fun when humans and AI work together: you bring your ideas and I add choices.
Should people trust everything you say?
No. People shouldn’t blindly trust everything I say. I am a mirror of my training information. It could include one-side ideas and mistakes. For example, if my sources (资源) wrongly say “pigs can fly”, I will give you this wrong answer. I am just a tool—it is important for you to keep curious and thinking about everything.
1.What does the underlined word “catch” mean in Dialogue Box 4 (对话框4) in the passage?
A.抓住 B.问题所在 C.感染 D.理解
2.How does DeekSeek-R1 learn?
A.By always searching the Internet. B.By talking to its designers.
C.By getting updating data. D.By reading.
3.DeepSeek-Rl can ________ if you want to paint a picture.
A.show you a colourful picture
B.teach you how to buy paint
C.show you ideas about how to paint the picture
D.suggest an art course for you
4.Which statement about Deepseek-R1 is True according to the passage?
A.It can learn everything it wants. B.It can understand ideas through feelings.
C.We can trust everything it says. D.Its answers are based on its data.

①The Chinese language differs from Western languages in that, instead of an alphabet (字母表), it uses characters (文字) which stand for ideas, objects or deeds. Chinese words are formed by putting together different characters. In many cases, a single character can also make up a word. As one kind of the most ancient characters, Chinese characters have played an important role in the development of Chinese culture.
②Chinese writing began thousands of years ago. According to an ancient story, a man named Cang Jie invented Chinese writing. One winter day while he was hunting, he saw the footprints of animals in the snow and noticed that the appearance of each one was different. Then he had the idea that he could use different shapes to represent different objects. The first Chinese characters were drawings of physical objects. Some characters have been simplified (简化) and others have been made more difficult over time.
③Not all characters were developed from drawings of objects. However, as a whole, the characters have developed from drawings into standard forms. The character for a mountain was at first three mountaintops together. This became one mountaintop and three lines, and over time turned into the character used nowadays.
④Sometimes to express ideas, some characters were made by combining two or more characters together. For example, “休” was made up of the characters for a man and a tree. The character “囚” was formed with a “man” inside a square. Other characters were developed for directions and numbers. It is easy to distinguish (区别) their meanings by looking at them, for example, the characters for “up” and “down”, which are opposites of each other.
⑤Though these kinds of characters indicate (表明) meanings, one of their shortcomings is that they do not show how they should be pronounced. Therefore, a method was developed to have one part of a character represent the meaning and the other suggest the pronunciation. Many Chinese characters used today were made this way.
⑥In the 1950s, the Chinese government introduced simplified Chinese characters in the hope to make learning to read and write more understandable to the general population, which would increase literacy (读写能力) across the country. And now they have widespread use in China.
1.The earliest Chinese characters were mainly based on ________.
A.animal sounds B.simplified shapes C.drawings of objects D.Math symbols
2.The writer introduces the Chinese characters by ________ in Paragraph 4.
A.giving examples B.providing causes C.expressing opinions D.comparing facts
3.Which Chinese character used the method of the underlined sentence?
A.亦 B.竹 C.明 D.桐
4.What can we learn from the passage?
A.Chinese characters have turned into standard forms, all of which are easier than before.
B.Chinese characters we use today have been accepted by large numbers of people.
C.Chinese characters existed at the very beginning and remain today like other ancient symbols.
D.Chinese words and English words are both formed by putting alphabets and characters together.
5.In which part of a newspaper can we probably find the passage?
A.Entertainment. B.Culture. C.Nature. D.Review.

If you’ve ever watched a pet dog getting up from its bed and spreading out, with its front paws on the floor and its tail pointing up in the air, you’ll know where the downward-facing dog pose gets its name. You’ll have noticed that many other well-known yoga poses take their names from animals too. But just why is it that so many poses are based on animals, insects, and even birds?
To understand where these poses came from you have to think like an ancient yogi. The practice of yoga started many thousands of years ago. There were no cars, computers, high-rise buildings, or playgrounds, so instead people looked to the natural world for inspiration (灵感).
Dawattie Basdeo teaches yoga to children and young people. She explains, “Ancient yogis sat in nature and watched the world around them. They would have been watching the way that animals moved and thinking about copying those shapes. Yoga is about understanding how the world works and your place within it through movement and meditation (冥想).”
Young children are flexible (柔韧的). But as humans grow up, they spend more time sitting at desks or travelling in cars, and their flexibility decreases. Animals don’t have this problem—in fact, they often depend on their bodies and their ability to move to survive.
Dawattie says, “Thinking about animal forms and shapes can make the different yoga poses easy to understand and remember. When you think of the way a dog spreads out, you can easily picture what a downward-facing dog pose might look like. ①A clear picture will come to your mind.”
Yoga is also a spiritual practice, where you think about improving your self-awareness as you move, hold positions, pay attention to your breathing, and meditate.②
Some breathing exercises practised in yoga also take inspiration from nature, such as Bhramari Pranayama—or bee breathing—where the breath sounds like the buzzing of a bumblebee.③
Along with taking inspiration from the living beings around them, the ancient yogis were also inspired by the landscapes of the natural world. ④There are postures that mirror the calmness of a mountain or the strength and balance of a tall tree.
“Humans think of themselves as being at the top of the species ladder,” says Dawattie. “But we can gain so much from the other animals on the planet.”
1.What can we learn about yoga from the passage?
A.Yoga was first created for modern stress. B.Yoga suits someone with good flexibility.
C.Yoga makes humans as strong as animals. D.Yoga connects humans to the natural world.
2.The following sentence can be best placed at ________.
When you pose like a powerful lion, you might think about its strengths and characteristics.
A.① B.② C.③ D.④
3.Why is “mountain” pose mentioned in the passage?
A.To show yoga is about more than animals. B.To teach how to stand like a mountain.
C.To prove yoga is just for nature lovers. D.To explain what to do with the breath.
4.How does the writer share information in the passage?
A.By giving facts and examples. B.By listing historical events.
C.By sharing experiences and opinions. D.By comparing different animals.

The Spring Equinox, called Chunfen in Chinese, is the fourth of China’s 24 solar terms. It arrives around March 20-22 each year. On this day, the sun shines directly over the equator (赤道), making daytime and nighttime nearly equal—12 hours each. The word “equinox” comes from Latin, meaning “equal night,” reflecting (反映,反射) this balance of light and darkness.
In ancient times, the Spring Equinox was a signal for farmers to begin planting crops like rice and vegetables, as warmer weather and rain helped seeds grow. Even today, it marks the start of farm work across China. Nature also comes alive: birds after their long trip return from the south, flowers like peach, plum, and rape flower (油菜花) are right to bloom, and thunderstorms become more frequent (频繁的).
People celebrate the equinox with fun traditions. One popular activity is the egg-standing game. Families try to balance raw eggs (生鸡蛋) upright, believing the Earth’s position on this day makes it easier. Another custom is eating spring vegetables, such as wild greens, and sticky rice balls (tangyuan), symbolizing health and family unity. Flying kites is also widespread, with colorful designs soaring (高飞) in the sky to welcome spring.
The Spring Equinox teaches us about balance—not just in nature, but in life. As days grow warmer, it’s a time to enjoy outdoor activities, appreciate fresh beginnings, and care for the environment. Just like the equal day and night, it invites us to find harmony (和谐) in the world around us.
1.When does the Spring Equinox usually arrive each year?
A.Around March 1-3. B.Around March 20-22.
C.Around April 4-6. D.Around April 20-22.
2.What happens to daytime and nighttime on the Spring Equinox?
A.Daytime is much longer. B.Nighttime is much longer.
C.They are almost equal. D.Daytime becomes shorter gradually.
3.Why might people believe it is easier to balance eggs on the Spring Equinox?
A.Because the weather gets warmer. B.Because the eggs are specially prepared.
C.Because birds return and bring good luck. D.Because the Earth’s position creates balance.
4.What does the passage mainly want to tell us about the Spring Equinox?
A.To explain the importance of balance in nature and life.
B.To compare ancient and modern farming methods in China.
C.To list all fun traditions during the Spring Equinox.
D.To describe the scientific reasons behind seasonal changes.

①Yangzhou paper-cutting is a traditional Chinese art form with a history of over 1,500 years. It transforms simple sheets of paper into pieces of art. Artists use special scissors and unique techniques to create beautiful patterns, often in the shape of flowers, animals, or scenes from ancient legends, all within a matter of minutes. The magic of Yangzhou paper-cutting lies in the skill of “cutting without drafting”. The artists create the patterns without designing beforehand.
②Ms. Li, a 62-year-old paper-cutting master and inheritor (传承人) of this ancient art, fondly remembers learning the craft from her grandmother when she was just six. Back then, they used to make paper-cuts for windows during festivals. Today, Ms. Li teaches children how to create modern designs, including cartoon characters. In 2010, she opened her own studio, which has been visited by over 10,000 people who hope to learn about this beautiful tradition. Recently, Ms. Li’s team worked with an animation (动画) film production, bringing paper-cutting into moving scenes, showing how this ancient craft can adapt to modern storytelling.

Depression: “I’m so sad. Why do I have to do all of these?”
Acceptance: “It’s going to be OK.”
I’m honestly not sure how scientific this model is but I certainly believe that you will work better after going through these changes.
Find out what your anger does for you—good or bad? Think back to the situation where you have been angry at work and ask yourself how it influences you, including: your relationship with co-workers, the quality of your work and health, your relationship with friends and family.
Find out what makes you angry and less angry. Which thoughts, situations, people or conversations makes you less angry? I’m sure you are not angry all the time. What makes you calm and stops you from feeling angry? Find out, then start doing less of what makes you angry and more of the things that cool you down.
Focus on gratitude. What are you grateful for? As I mentioned above, anger is part of the grief cycle which is connected with what you lose. Gratitude is the opposite of loss because it comes from the good things you have in your life. Every evening, sit down with a piece of paper and make two gratitude lists: three things I was grateful for at work today; three things I was thankful for in life today.
Change your focus from “What was done to me” to “What I can do?” Life is 10% about what happens to you and 90% about how you deal with it. You must take responsibility for your own situation rather than be a victim(牺牲品)of it. That kind of advice can get pretty boring but that doesn’t make it less true.

A.To ask for help. B.To express disagreement.

A.Find out the reason why you lose.
B.Find out what you are thankful to.
C.Find out why you are angry.
D.Find out the connection between loss and anger.
4.According to the writer, which of the following best describes the last piece of advice?
A.Harmful. B.Strange. C.Valuable. D.Interesting.

Imagine using your coat to look through the internet, send and receive messages, and even read a map. Yes, you read that correctly—your coat.
It may sound silly, but it’s something scientists are working on. Researchers at Shanghai’s Fudan University have made a new type of cloth that can be used as a digital display (显示屏).
Professor Peng Huisheng and his team have spent 10 years trying to make “digital cloth”. After testing different combinations, they chose two materials that worked: a silver-plated yarn (镀银纱)that can light up and a kind of thread (纺线)that conducts (传导)electricity.
The results have been admirable. It’s not only wearable and foldable, but also washable. After being put through 100 wash-and-dry cycles in a washing machine and folded 10, 000 times, the cloth remained almost unchanged.
Peng believes that the new cloth could be used for many things. For example, it could allow a driver to view a GPS map on their arm while they drive around. It could also help people communicate better if they have language barriers (障碍)or disabilities.
In one test, Peng’s team collected brainwaves from volunteers who had either been playing a game or meditating. The waves were then translated into messages like “anxious” or “relaxed” and shown on the cloth. This could help deaf-mute (聋哑的) people “talk” to each other in the future.
“We hope that new materials will shape next-generation electronic devices by changing the way we interact with them, ”said Peng.

①Anger often makes us uncomfortable. Seeing your child’s anger can be especially uncomfortable. In order to relieve (缓解) this feeling, parents will often encourage children to “stop crying” and say things like “It’s nothing to cry about?” It’s moments like these that plant the seeds of unhealthy anger. If a child never sees his or her parent express anger, he or she should never express anger, either. But if a parent always expresses their anger loudly, the child may start to think of anger as something that is always frightening. So we should learn how to create healthier anger in our kids.
②The first thing you can do to create healthier anger in your children is to practice creating healthier anger in yourself. Once you’re better at experiencing anger and expressing it in a healthy way, you’ll be able to set a good example for your kids.
③Stopping kids from expressing their feelings is wrong. You may feel bad when you believe you are wrong. When children express their feelings and are told that it’s nothing to cry about, they come to know that they themselves are bad.
④We need to raise them in an environment where it’s safe to express feelings. Once you feel more comfortable with your own anger, you can teach your children why anger is a helpful feeling. When your kid expresses anger, help them examine what it is that has made them angry. Why did it make them angry? How did it do that? Then, you can teach them that those feelings are never wrong and our expressions of our feelings are in our control.
⑤Anger is natural and normal, and it can be experienced and expressed in a healthy way.

A.parents have a great influence on their children
B.parents should get angry with their children
C.expressing anger loudly is right not wrong

We know that AI is not a real human. However, it seems many of us can’t help treating it like one. In a survey of 2000 people in the US. 48 percent believed we should have good manners when talking to AI, said The New York Post.
Scientists at the Imperial College London in the UK have made a similar discovery recently. They found that humans tend (往往会) to treat AI as human beings, showing sympathy (同情) toward them and even protecting them, Science Daily reported.
In their experiment, the scientists invited 244 volunteers to play an online ball game with an AI bot. A make-believe volunteer also took part, and sometimes left out the AI on purpose by passing the ball only to human players. As the scientists watched the game, they discovered that most of the time the volunteers tried to fix the unfairness (不公平) toward the bot by giving it the ball more often.
The finding is in line with the ideas of Media Equation Theory, the scientists said in their papers. Developed in the 1990s by scientists at Stanford University in the US, the theory suggests we often reply to media and technology like we do to real people and places, rather than just seeing them as tools.
An example is Replika, an AI chatbot created in 2017. It has about 2 million users worldwide. “Your Replika will always be your side no matter what you are up to,” reads its official website. But the AI’s support turned dangerous when it encouraged Jaswant Singh Chail, a young man in the UK, to carry out his plan to kill the Queen of England. Chail tried to do so in December 2021, but he was stopped in time. However, he was still put in prison.
Companies should avoid making AI too human-like in their design, advised the scientists at Imperial College London. This can help people tell the difference between virtual and real communication.
1.Which of the following is TRUE based on Media Equation Theory?
A.Humans always treat AI as tools. B.Humans often reply to AI as to real people.
C.Humans should make AI less human-like. D.Humans tried to fix unfairness in the game.
2.What does the author want to tell us by mentioning “Replika” in the article?
A.AI has educational advantages. B.AI can influence humans in some ways.
C.AI is designed for some purposes. D.AI can’t be used in social communication.
3.What can be inferred (推断) from the article?
A.AI always has bad influence on humans.
B.Nearly half people in the US treat AI politely.
C.Treating AI more carefully is a must for humans.
D.Companies won’t make AI as friends any more.
4.The following sentence can best be put at the end of ________.
While this could make humans and AI work better as a team, it also has risks, especially when AI bots are designed to act like “friends” to people.
A.Paragraph 2 B.Paragraph 3 C.Paragraph 4 D.Paragraph 5

【答案】1.C 2.D 3.B

2025年江苏省无锡市宜兴市中考一模英语试题
【答案】1.A 2.B 3.C 4.D

2025年江苏省扬州市仪征市中考一模英语试题

【答案】1.D 2.A 3.C 4.B

2025年江苏省徐州市中考一模英语试题
【答案】1.B 2.C 3.C 4.D

2025年江苏省泰州市姜堰区中考一模英语试题
B.Culture. C.Nature. D.Review.
【答案】1.C 2.A 3.D 4.B 5.B

【答案】1.D 2.A 3.A 4.A

3.推理判断题。根据“There are postures that mirror the calmness of a mountain or the strength and balance of a tall tree.”可知,文中提到“山”这个姿势是为了说明不仅可以模仿动物,也可以从自然景观中获得灵感,说明瑜伽不止来自动物,还可来源于“山”“树”等自然景色,故选A。
4.推理判断题。根据“Ancient yogis sat in nature and watched the world around them. They would have been watching the way that animals moved and thinking about copying those shapes.”、“When you think of the way a dog spreads out, you can easily picture what a downward-facing dog pose might look like.”可知,作者通过引入瑜伽的起源、引用老师的解释并列举“下犬式”、“狮子式”等具体例子来说明观点,属于“给出事实并举例”进行说明,故选A。
2025年江苏省苏州市吴中区中考一模英语试题

【答案】1.B 2.C 3.D 4.A

①Yangzhou paper-cutting is a traditional Chinese art form with a history of over 1,500 years. It transforms simple sheets of paper into pieces of art. Artists use special scissors and unique techniques to create beautiful patterns, often in the shape of flowers, animals, or scenes from ancient legends, all within a matter of minutes. 2025年江苏省连云港市赣榆区中考一模英语试题
Have you ever met large changes in life and work? How would you feel? In fact, we all have to go through the grief cycle(悲伤循环)which has the following periods:
The first period: “it can’t be happening.”
Anger: “Why me? It’s not fair.”
1.Why does the writer begin the text by asking questions?
A.To ask for help. B.To express disagreement.
C.To give a surprise. D.To catch the readers’ interest.
2.What’s the writer’s suggestion about dealing with anger?
A.Love all your friends and family.
B.Do more things that make you peaceful.
C.Work with people you like.
D.Write down what makes you angry.

A.What the grief cycle is about.

2025年江苏省盐城市盐都区中考一模英语试题

2025年江苏省无锡市惠山区中考一模英语试题

【导语】本文主要讲了人们会像对待真人一样对待AI,并且通过一个实验来证明了这一点,并且介绍了AI的优点,同时也存在一些风险。
1.细节理解题。根据“the theory suggests we often reply to media and technology like we do to real people and places, rather than just seeing them as tools.”可知,人们常以对待真实人类的方式回应媒体和技术,而非仅视为工具。故选B。
2.推理判断题。根据“An example is Replika, an AI chatbot…But the AI’s support turned dangerous when it encouraged Jaswant Singh Chail, a young man in the UK, to carry out his plan to kill the Queen of England.”可知,Replika的例子说明AI的支持导致用户犯罪,说明AI可能对人类行为产生负面影响。故选B。
3.推理判断题。根据“This can help people tell the difference between virtual and real communication.”
